No. Once you can, it will be all over the internet. It's not an android device and there are less devs. Give it some time.

It's been out for 9 days, give it some time. It uses Tizen instead of Android and even at that, there are less devs interested in it right now due to it's recently release not providing a lot of info.

Once it is rooted we should be able to flash an android ROM to it and rid it of Tizen, right?

Can someone elaborate on this? What would restrict a different OS from being flashed if the device is rooted?

Ohh. I didn't realize, thought he meant it may work but not with 100% functionality.
This makes sense, thanks. I am excited to see what comes of this, but hope if it does work that the battery life isnt lessened due to slightly smaller battery in the Gear2.

Hello: I'm currently downloading the Tizen source code, and will then do a complete build on my PC. This should give me a Tizen ARM binary 'su' that - with a bit of luck - will work on the Gear 2.
I don't know what the Gear 2 root password is - although I'm hoping it should be fairly easy to guess (Tizen, tizen, gear2, samsung, etc.). I will try a dictionary attack of none of the obvious things work.
I will also share the 'su' binary once I've built it, so other people can attempt to figure out the root password.
Once we've rooted it, we can look to (a) open up full Internet access on the device, (b) get better integration with non-Samsung devices, and possibly (c) install Android on it.

That's what I'm talking about. Getting Android on there to run Tasker. Then this will be the the best watch available. Until then, Original Gear paired with "TasGear" is the current best IMHO.

Here we have what Google owned Motorola has created with Project Ara. A concept to bring the flexibility and open source that Google's android brought to software to the hardware side. A modular phone that you can customize. Why buy a new phone when you can just upgrade the one you have?
Build it to your liking, take it apart and build it better! And there even bring the ability use your 3D printer to customize it (I know you all have a 3D printer by now.... Right?)
Then we have the Build your own phone plan by Zact.
Currently on the sprint network, (I hope they expend or someone picks up on this and moves to something with a bit more... SERVICE.) You can pick how many minutes, text messages, and Mb of data you have or don't have, each month. If your realize that you need more minutes, text, or Mb, you just click a button and add them. If you have extra they roll over. How can it get any better? Oh, you have kids? You can set times, and limits on EVERYTHING! or don't. Your choice, and that's what makes it AMAZING.
All this mixed in with Android, makes it the perfect phone to build and create anything you can imagine in a phone. Unfortunately, I don't see Zact adding this phone to its list of phones for sale anytime soon, and currently Zact has "custom software" that means you can only buy there phones for there plans, and you can't install custom roms or anything that might cause the software to stop working because it would leave you left with a brick, and they do not have insurance. But... where there is android, there are devs and devs can do anything with time and support.
So, the future of cell phones is looking promising. If there are enough people interested in this stuff, support the developers. Comment on the xda forums and let them know that you want them to support Zact phones. Lets get the ball rolling on this.
I am starting my Zact plan for Christmas, and I will be flashing my prl's to roam because as of now, Zact roaming is free and roaming services at my house is better then sprint service.
The future looks promising! Let me know what you guys think!
future
nice phone...
Don't forget to help support project Ara on their dScout page!:good:
I got my phones a few days ago, it only took 2 weeks... I started it up, ran through the setup, wasnt thinking but aloud the OTA to run. I ran cf auto root, noticed I still didnt have su so I installed superuser from the appstore and checked root with root checker. Nothing. Then I remembered that I installed the OTA to 4.3 but forgot about Knox because I had not had to deal with it prior. I did just about everything I could think of. I also found that trying to retrieve your msl/spc is a lot harder. I am unable to get into the qualcomm usb menu because it asked for the msl, Most hidden menus are asking for msl. I attempted to install twrp but it says there is no recover found for my device. I cant connect it to dfs or cdma workshop. adb sees it, but I dont know much about adb so I want able to do much with it. I was however able to copy the ZACT mobile apk from the phone and install it to another phone. It is unstable and FC alot. My other phone sees it as a launcer like touchwiz or nova. Thought this would be a good idea to see what the apk itself controls on another phone. I am not a developer. I am computer savy and have been playing with flashing for a long time. If anyone is interested in teaching me a little, I would like make a backup of the rom. Is there a way to pull the full rom with pre-installed apks, I can factory rest back to start and just see whats available. I'd like to attempt to flash it to my old s3 make a clone kinda. So i can test an play with one without damaging my daily phone. Any thoughts or ideas on what to test let me know.
Nice
Just to set the record straight...in no way did Motorola create this idea. This was a concept created by Dave Hakkens. His concept was called Phonebloks. Motorola did some sort of deal to license the concept or something. Just don't go around saying someone created something when they didn't...its like saying Apple made the smartphone.

Andy breaks down the barrier between desktop and mobile computing, while keeping a user up to date with the latest Android OS feature upgrades. It also provides users with unlimited storage capacity, Windows and Mac compatibility, and the freedom to play the most popular mobile games on a desktop. With phone as a joystick, you will never have to sacrifice the multi-touch or gyro elements of gaming, and thanks to seamless connection between desktop and mobile, you can receive a SnapChat phone picture on the street and see it on your desktop at home or just download Whatsapp for pc.

I'm game. Been looking for a good alternative to BlueStacks.
OP has 6 posts, just one reply since yesterday (and only cause XDA just tweeted it), the big image is embedded from a piracy site that hosts cracked android apps... so, is this legit?

I think site should provide the full package for slow internet connection.
Sorry, why to put this on XDA Forums after almost a year of its availability?
It might not make much of a difference with desktop PC's but, something limited in CPU performance Andy OS doesn't seem to run well, tested on my T100TA (x86 baytrail tablet) was choppy and laggy. DuOS runs extremely well on the same tablet, worth noting and trying if you have the same or similar device.

Has anyone tried this?
The online installer seems kinda limited for some people with slow internet connections like me.
To run android apps on PC I use Genymotion, it's smoother and customizable
Cute, I went to the download link and got a message about it being in closed alpha.

I believe there is, check their Facebook page. It's still going to be the same size whether the installer downloads the required files or you download a large setup package.

To root or to app-root?

Dear all: This is my first post. I spent two days reading posts concerning the highly anticipated unlocking of the S7 G930T bootloader. It sounds as though the developers at XDA and anot entity known as Chainfire are chomping at the bit in expectation -- TWRP is written and waiting at the border. That is awesome and I wish you all the best of luck. There are several apps that I wish to install on my phone. Most of them address device security (firewalls, etc...) and secure communications. Thank you in advance for your many hours of work.
My question is one of methodology and the ultimate goals of device rooting using the Android 6+ OS. Why not use a virtual root as a cheap and tawdry temporary work around? A similar method appears to have worked well for a Corbin Champion who create Gnuroot. His app creates rooted Linux environments on Android devices and requires no Android root.
Will this work for applications that require a rooted Android? Is my question rooted in reality? What are the limitations of a rooted app or virtual root system?
Why would anyone want to use a cheap trick? Is it possible that using an app or a virtual root may avoid potential crashes and instabilities? Samsung may have locked the bootloader to prevent or slow the use of the S7 G930T in illegal activity. Wouldn't the development of an app for non-developers all us to benefit from many wonderful apps while preventing non-developers from engaging in less than ethical hacking with root as a lockpick?
I also read an XDA post concerning chain-loading an OS from a USB device. This also seems like a clever work around. It may also be an effective security tool that may allow a cellular device to be driven by a portable OS. It may allow one to protect device data and USB-OS data while enjoying network communications. What are your thoughts?
If I could pull this off on my own, I would do it and release it for free since that seems to be the thing to do -- to contribute in an academic manner to the karma/knowledge pool. I hope that capable hands consider a project like this to be worth while. If is already done, please point me in the right direction.
Thanks.
Cheers!
Dear all:
After I posted and asked questions that I though were interesting, I continued to read and look for helpful apps.
I lot of new apps appeared in the Google play store. Or maybe I just had not paid attention well enough before.
However the coincidence occurred, the most useful apps were the IP tools such as trace and location search.
Before that day I never once obtained an IP trace result and location that was at all useful or even remotely interesting. This time I was able to summon the leviathan.
The corresponding IP address to a machine that was and may still be in constant communication with my Samsung Galaxy S7:
172.217.3.238
The corresponding GPS coordinates:
37.4192000, -122.0574000
In the links below you will see that this corresponds to an office building on the property of the Moffett Federal Air Field near Mountain View and Stevens Creek California. How did that happen. My attorney doesn't know either. He says that no one is looking for me or is in great want of a chat with me. I am a medical student. ????
Ok. So I sent a complaint to the California State Attorney General Kamala Harris... several time by fax, online portal, and email. I called her office to confirm. Her staff confirm, don't confirm, and say that they have no way of tracing documents received by their server. So my attorney called and emailed.
Anyway... this smells of phone spoofing and phone trapping again so I will have to fight just to submit a complaint.
Links to the IPtrce and IP location searches.

I'm not sure about this whole thread... That IP is Google, which has nothing to do with your post about a 'virtual root', OS on USB, or whatever.

Question Outgoing call profile video (China Rom) want to disable it.

every time I make a outgoing call, there is a profile video with music that plays in the background with music, I am using the original china rom and living in china, but I would like to know if anyone else have it outside of china, if so did anyone manage to disable it?
Hmm- I have original China rom (living in Canada) and have no such behavior
I did a very mild ADB before even using the device for the first time so it's possible i removed that package
I can show you the list of packages i've removed if that helps ?

That is what I currently have debloated - but by no means do i recommend using that as a definitive list - I have alot more tweaking to do as I'm continuing to experience many annoyances or problems so I don't have the phone in a perfect state yet

Everything in my screenshot is safe to remove without worry - the only exception is make sure you have a keyboard (GBoard for example) installed as one of those debloats takes off the keyboard that comes stock (it's garbage)
