Hy guys, I've just recieved my smartband few days ago and tested it. I'm really happy with it. It's extremely light and discret. Made of soft-touch silicon it feels comfortable when you strap it. Fortunatly, because you're supposed to wear it 24/7. Waterproof is really appreciable too.
You have to use SmartConnect in order to use and configure it (some good options are available). Notifications for calls, messaging and every other apps are very usefull. Even if bluetooth is always on it don't really waste a lot more battery (1% per hour more thanks to Bluetooth low energy) ! It uses a little haptic motor to notify you from an incoming event (call, message...) and can be used as music player remote with simples steps.

Lifelog app aims to gather everything in one place. It tracks your physical activity (footsteps, running time...) and entertainments (the time you spent gaming, listenning music with songs you listenned, reading, messaging, on the social networks or the photos you've taken and more). Larger the circle is, the more you spent time on the activity. It's juste like the chronicles of your life. The app is really easy to use with a really pleasant interface.
So for those who recieved the smartband what you think about ?
It looks really nice, but I have one question - Can You use it parallel with Sony Smartwatch 2?

I guess it depens on BT devices. I don't have SmartWatch to test it. I've tested with my Bose SoundLink Mini and SmartBand connected at the same time and it worked well
Thanks, You've got to be right, if it's working parallel with other device - my Sony Z1C is working fine with my BT car radio and Sony Smartwatch 2 - it should be working fine with the smartband.

Yes, both can connect in the same time, but have some bug when I using the smartwatch to control the music sometime the phone will be restart. And the battery life will be short. My for daily 7am start connected both devices almost can last 12 hours.

For those who have the smartband and the lifelog app, could any of you get the Cycling, Bus, train, car tabs which show how much time you spent on those transportations?

For now these feature we saw in the video demonstration are not implemented in the lifelog app, wait till next versions, sony should add it

Do you have increased battery drain? I had 7-10% in 8hrs battery drop without Smartband, and now I lost 15% in 6hrs while using it.

I turned off location service in Lifelog, but I didn't see a big difference. I only wonder how these functions will work when Sony adds them. I mean, how will my smartband detect that I am moving in a car or in a bus when my location is turned off.
For now I pair Smartband with a phone only once a day, just to sync results, but to be honest because of a huge battery drain I am thinking about selling it.
Just to let you all know the smartband, smartwatch 2 and the Sony mbh10 headset all work at the same time!!
Any review about Smartband??

I've enabled notification for some apps (messaging, gmail, snapchat, facebook and more) and vibrations are working well. The only "problem" I have is that for every notification it's the same vibration intensity and there are no custom vibrations...
Recieved my smartband 3 days ago - simple to connect and a cool gadget. But connection to my Z1 Compact is lost very often. I´m not sure if this is a software problem, all other bluetooth gadgets working fine - smart watch 2, headsets...

I have wanted something like this device since 2005 and its finally going to be made... I´m one happy android user right now...
Plus its kinda open for developers to add compatibility for their apps... I can´t believe that Sony is the one doing this gadget...
Yeah, it looks amazing. I totally want one. Hope it's under €100.
but, it's a sony
if it weren't for being a sony, i'd say it totally rocked. sony screws up more things with their DRM and locked-in crap.
maybe they're learning... we'll see
I've been hugely interested in this. For me its perfect in function... but not in form. I was really excited when I learned about it because I work in a professional environment where I am constantly surrounded by others and it just looks bad to be always pulling out your large phone (droid x). I also value having a watch over having to check the time on my phone, so that is a major plus for me. I would love to get email updates and check calendar events with a glance (not searching my pockets), so this sounded like it may have been perfect.
It fails in style and ergonomics. It looks like a toy more then a professional accessory. Its very thick compared to a normal watch, it looks even thicker then my Droid X. It comes with a very unattractive Velcro wrist strap (does not deserve to be called a wrist band). It stands out like a sore thumb. Lastly, I'm going to bet the price will be $150+ because its Sony. Sony could have a chance to develop a new accessory market that would have been geek sheik. Instead, I think they may discourage competitors from entering.
First post here, been lurking since I got my new android handset. This is a really helpful forum, glad to be here.
here is a video. i think it looks interesting.
hmm, is it playing music through the wristwatch, or the phone ? very cool, consider my mind changed, assuming sony doesn't cripple-ware it.

I have exactly the same usage scenario. Excellent not to distract others in meetings, workshops, seminars etc.
Just so you know, there's the previous generation Sony MBW-150 series of analog watches with BT and a digital display which you can run with Android, WM etc etc through software such as Openwatch and smartWachM, both by moneytoo whom you can find on the forum.

So it doesn't look like the Live View has vibrating alert function, does it?
This is the best feature of the MBW-150 in order to get alerted about messages, RSS feeds, SMSs, mails etc without anyone else noticing.

That is too cool, way closer to what I was looking for. I really wish they had plans to create and support a new watch variation closer to that, it makes the live view look like one step forward and two steps back. Thanks for the info!

The liveview can vibrate. (it´s stated in the user manual and the vibrating motor is visible in the internal photo´s of the FCC.
Can´t wait for Sony to release the SDK so I can add support for it in my apps.

Just eats up more board realistate -- I don't think thats what Sonys Engineers have envisioned for this anyways. I know personally I want one. So many possibilities as long as the SDK isn't garbage.

You can't get them to work together though as android only allows 1 BT pairing at a time?
Therefore the only way to get music is to plug it into the phone itself - which defeats the purpose of not having the phone on you physically.
This thing better have a more reliable track record than Sony Ericsson's prior attempts at similar watch-type devices. There were WAY too many DOA units and battery life was abysmal, even when it was functioning nominally. Take it from a guy who tried one and got burned by their so-called customer service department.

Thanks rj3005. Yes I found out once it does vibrate, once I got hold of the manual on FCC. Amazingly SE does not advertise the vibrating alert, though.

WakeUp
With this App you can activate the screen without using the Power Button.
Review on XDA portal
1.2 Review on XDA portal
The screen turns off and the monitoring is activated when you use the Widget to lock the screen or put the device on a horizontal surface, such as the office desk; the screen turns on automatically when you lift and tilt the device towards you.
There is also an option to lock the screen when you put your phone in your pocket; in this case the screen turns on automatically when you tilt the device forward.
It's also possible to automatically activate the monitoring when the screen turns off after the time set in system options or when you turn off the screen with the Power Button.

The application uses a little battery while monitoring because it prevents the device from going to sleep; you can then set how long it will be monitoring the movement of the device: the convenience comes at a cost!
To uninstall the app you need to disable the Device Administrator.

Nica app works good on Sony Xperia E!
work nicely on Xperia S, NXA v3.2 rom
wtf! I installed it and it blocked my phone. When i pick up the phone it keeps vibrating and the screen turns on and off like crazy. I can't do anything with my phone because when i unlock it, the screen immediately turns off.
I put the phone for 10 minutes unattended and it calmed down, so i had time to stop and remove this.
HTC One X, newest stock OTA.
Nice is there a pro version ?
Love it! If I still think it's this good in a couple of days, I'll definitely be buying the PRO version. (As a longtime Nexus One owner who had two power buttons go south, I still cringe whenever I have to hit the power button on any phone.)
Tested & worked on Moto Atrix 2, its almost same as pocket mode feature on some ROM's
I'm currently using an app called Gravity Screen which seems to function much the same.
So far so good tested and working correctly on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7105 (LTE). At first i was worry the screen might turn on when i put it in my pocket while walking.Well, it does not work that way. It will only turn on the screen while the phone on my hand and approach my face. Good... i like it.
i hope the next version can have screen turn off automatically while the phone put on table without motion / while in the pocket.
It works pretty good on my Sony Xperia SP Nice work...
Apart of working as it should, does anyone test the power consumption of this app?. I love the idea but afraid of my battery drain.

From the OP, I thought it was intended to function this way. It seems not, in my testing. I second the request.
I really like the idea of this app, testing it ATM (curious about battery drain).
An idea I had was the option to have an option to keep the sensors active while charging (I don't care too much about battery drain while charging and often pickup my phone during the charging).

Any help?
That's not normal.. it sucks. Will switch to LG G4 as soon as available.
how much of that was screen time using the battery?
About 3 or 4 hours max.. but I use it time to time. Wi-Fi and sometimes mobile data on cellular network.
Don't understand why the battery drain is so fast.
Stamina mode doesn't change a thing. Almost always on manual low brightness and I have to use my power bank (external battery) when I'm away.

I have the exact same issues, the phone was going very strong for the first 6 months (7-8 hrs SoT) and then it all went bad (3-4 hrs Max). I've tried MANY things and the issue seems to be **mainly** with Android OS and System (especially with mobile networks "staying active").
What kind of worked for me is:
Turn off "double tap to wake screen"
Delete any 3rd party alarm apps (clearly helped)
Turn off "Google Location History" in Google settings
Check for stuck sync
After doing all of this i got about +2hrs screen on time, but it all went bad again (even with them still off)... So I'm interested in your feedback and others' answers!
I'll try that. I assume Timely is a 3r party alarm apps?
Check out this pic.. battery discharging during the night and lost more than 20% by using it one hour (simple web browsing and stuff). I'm starting to hate this phone.
By the way, congrats for your 1st post

Yes I think we have the exact same problem, my phone discharges about 2-3% on airplane mode through the night. And as you said, my normal use means that I lose 10% to every 30 minutes of screen (under normal conditions).
Yes I mean Timely! it drained the battery on my phone and only showed up as a problem on Gsam and wakelock detector! i wouldn't have known otherwise, its disguised as Android OS or System!
Its very disappointing given that it was working very well before!
Stuck with the same problem.. and they boast about Xperia Z3 amazing battery life.. that device sucks. Switching to LG G4 as soon as available. Sony disappointed me, they failed me.
I use Timely to wake up because this app is well designed and I love the smart rise feature.
That said, Android says OS and screen process drains battery the most.

I think you should first try what I suggested for a day or two and see the results, should be an improvement, though I don't know how much...
I used timely for exactly the same thing, but as all google products these days, it drains the battery I'm really dissapointed with Google more than Sony, I have the same problems on all my lollipop devices (2 nexuses). Nothing Sony can do about it...
With flastool you can go back to KitKat if Lollipop doesn't perform good for you.
I have good experience with the .77 Version and still have a backup of it in twrp.
You have a very weak signal (the red color) which is draining battery.
Android OS is the Kernel.
Use better battery stats which is free here from xda.
Also check app permissions of your installed apps.
And a calibration of the battery may help.
With full auto brightness and mixed 3G/wifi browsing and listening to music via Bluetooth or headset I have 6h Display on in 2 or 3days on Lollipop.
But prerooted / debloated / tweaked Rom .690 with good signal.
I know the signal is bad and is a cause I'm my case. I was living in Germany for a few months and got around 7h over 2 days, it halved when I moved back to jordan. However it's still getting worse, noticeably since I turned off and uninstalled many things (it got better for 2 days *6hr and then went back to bad *3-4hr). But still the point is why buy a smartphone if you have to turn off everything just to get it through the day. The problem is that you get the feeling that no matter what you do with the phone it still drains (which looks like a system or app issue because it does even when I'm only using Wi-Fi or even 3/4g on full signal)...
Well there is no magic button to improve the battery life.
Yes there is, Airplane Mode.
when will Android 11 update will be available to N9860

No clue....I'm still waiting being on Nov 1 patch!!

It's available on chc csc, but if you use Google dialer ussd codes, android 11 stops them from working so now I can't enable wwd csc. I'm going up downgrade to 10. I lost 5g and many features. Do not like it

I updated on the 4th of February but so far the battery usage appears to be similar although it's early days.
The only hiccup so far for me is the amount of apps in the folder that shows on one page i.e 3x4 now, but that's no deal breaker.
Sorry but I do not use Goodlock or any of the plug ins.
The finger print scanner appears faster and more accurate.
I like the way I can tap on the date and time on my lockscreen which now then shows my calendar , music and weather.
All early days.

Call quality is the same.
I mainly use mobile data but WiFi is strong.
Network signal is the same.
I turn my phone off at night and charge then so I'm not sure on charging times.
I use Spotify Premium coupled with Samsung Buds Live and the quality remains very good although I'm no audiophile in any sense of the word.
The new volume bar reminds me a little bit of iOS !

I mainly use mobile data but WiFi is strong.
Network signal is the same.

Thank you for your feedback.
Lets see when would I get it in Pakistan
Few bugs for me
- Night mode shots take WAY longer to process
- Camera apparently taking brighter pics than before , I have to always reduce brightness slider for faces
- Gallery straight from GCAM crashes, very slow to load when you delete pics
- Goodlock Multistar, Clockface, Pantastic and Quickstar working with their updated versions
- Battery life almost same
I decided to do factory reset since I'm noticing fps drops in games.
Wow, there is a huge difference now. The phone is literally flying and the games just runs perfect for me now.
I really recommend it if you notice performance drops.

I haven't had the chance to download the beta version yet, so I'm even more excited to see what will be introduced to us this Thursday.
I have watched ours of YT videos about Android Tiramisu and One UI 5, but haven't noticed many changes or real upgrades that would make it attractive to me. I saw a preview of ColorOS 13' design and the quantum animation engine which looks like it will boost the app performance and usability.
Comparison video I found:
(@ Mods please remove the video link if not ok)
What are you expecting from this upcoming launch? I saw the teaser posts where it says "smart & connect" so I expect that we will see a feature or function that integrates the device into a wider system, maybe with the OPPO Pad. Also I think we will see a big pump in performance through the quantum animation engine
Smart and Connected is a nice hint. Connected in which way is the question
Second beta works fine

I'm on my first beta. There are some menu features that are in Chinese. Did it change for you too?

Been trying out different features, mostly the Bitmoji in AOD but it has been causing my phone to heat up in minutes. I turned it off for now but it's cute that they integrated it as a new feature.
Did you experience any overheating too?

Where did you see Chinese menu? I haven't encountered any so far.

In the new AOD settings, there are new features such as
Contextual Info which gives you options to add Music playback which opens your Spotify, and there are
Supported Apps which gives me a Chinese menu and says No data yet
I shared a screenshot below if it helps.
Sorry to hear that @E. Marine Life

I've had the beta version since the 3rd and I have had a love-hate relationship with it throughout the past few weeks, at least until the 2nd patch of updates.
I like how edge lighting is included whenever you receive notifications
Sure Bitmoji, Climate Change, and the new AOD playback is cool. I tried turning on Screen always on and within a couple of minutes, my phone was heating up - so I'm not sure how I feel about this yet
I like the smart sidebar, but I have already seen this in One UI 4.0 so it's just nice to have it here now
The media player widget section in the shelf drawer is only okay if you're playing any music. Since I don't use it, I don't like it as much since I can't remove it.
Aquamorphic still has to be seen

This is likely an improvement to PC Connect since they have their own tablet. They are all probably connected through the oppo-verse.

Thanks for sharing this bro! Did you notice anything new in the second beta vs the first?

I did not see this in the shelf drawer. Are you referring to the widgets on the screen? Or the control center?

Not sure how I missed that.
Is the Quantum Animation Engine a hardware that allows that seamless transition? Or is it how they call the transition?

It's interconnectivity across their devices since they have a tablet coming out

A demo was shown in the launch last night. You can view your phone screen on your laptop and use it from there. A useful feature for when you are on your laptop and don't want to get inconvenienced holding your phone or if you have it in a bag.
