Any help?
That's not normal.. it sucks. Will switch to LG G4 as soon as available.

how much of that was screen time using the battery?

About 3 or 4 hours max.. but I use it time to time. Wi-Fi and sometimes mobile data on cellular network.
Don't understand why the battery drain is so fast.
Stamina mode doesn't change a thing. Almost always on manual low brightness and I have to use my power bank (external battery) when I'm away.

I have the exact same issues, the phone was going very strong for the first 6 months (7-8 hrs SoT) and then it all went bad (3-4 hrs Max). I've tried MANY things and the issue seems to be **mainly** with Android OS and System (especially with mobile networks "staying active").
What kind of worked for me is:
Turn off "double tap to wake screen"
Delete any 3rd party alarm apps (clearly helped)
Turn off "Google Location History" in Google settings
Check for stuck sync
After doing all of this i got about +2hrs screen on time, but it all went bad again (even with them still off)... So I'm interested in your feedback and others' answers!

I'll try that. I assume Timely is a 3r party alarm apps?
Check out this pic.. battery discharging during the night and lost more than 20% by using it one hour (simple web browsing and stuff). I'm starting to hate this phone.
By the way, congrats for your 1st post

Yes I think we have the exact same problem, my phone discharges about 2-3% on airplane mode through the night. And as you said, my normal use means that I lose 10% to every 30 minutes of screen (under normal conditions).
Yes I mean Timely! it drained the battery on my phone and only showed up as a problem on Gsam and wakelock detector! i wouldn't have known otherwise, its disguised as Android OS or System!
Its very disappointing given that it was working very well before!

Stuck with the same problem.. and they boast about Xperia Z3 amazing battery life.. that device sucks. Switching to LG G4 as soon as available. Sony disappointed me, they failed me.
I use Timely to wake up because this app is well designed and I love the smart rise feature.
That said, Android says OS and screen process drains battery the most.

I think you should first try what I suggested for a day or two and see the results, should be an improvement, though I don't know how much...
I used timely for exactly the same thing, but as all google products these days, it drains the battery I'm really dissapointed with Google more than Sony, I have the same problems on all my lollipop devices (2 nexuses). Nothing Sony can do about it...

With flastool you can go back to KitKat if Lollipop doesn't perform good for you.
I have good experience with the .77 Version and still have a backup of it in twrp.
You have a very weak signal (the red color) which is draining battery.
Android OS is the Kernel.
Use better battery stats which is free here from xda.
Also check app permissions of your installed apps.
And a calibration of the battery may help.
With full auto brightness and mixed 3G/wifi browsing and listening to music via Bluetooth or headset I have 6h Display on in 2 or 3days on Lollipop.
But prerooted / debloated / tweaked Rom .690 with good signal.

I know the signal is bad and is a cause I'm my case. I was living in Germany for a few months and got around 7h over 2 days, it halved when I moved back to jordan. However it's still getting worse, noticeably since I turned off and uninstalled many things (it got better for 2 days *6hr and then went back to bad *3-4hr). But still the point is why buy a smartphone if you have to turn off everything just to get it through the day. The problem is that you get the feeling that no matter what you do with the phone it still drains (which looks like a system or app issue because it does even when I'm only using Wi-Fi or even 3/4g on full signal)...

Well there is no magic button to improve the battery life.

Yes there is, Airplane Mode.

Battery Life

Hi guys.
I was searching our forum and I couldn't find a thread like that.
At first I was unsure for the battery life as I received the phone and I have charged it like twice a day but you know. New phone and would like to have a fun with it and tested. After a month I still think a battery life isn't perfect but with my use it's satisfies me a lot.
Here is my stats after a day. If I turn on a stamina mode and turn off data transmision and wifi, battery should last another half a day or even longer.

As you can see I do not have a stamina mode on. I have no idea why that fecking phone app is the most used app. I don't call much. Like 5 calls a day that last for minute or two isn't much. Maybe that because I have data transmision on ? Even if I'm at home and using wifi.
How's your battery life look's like ?

The battery life is directly dependent on the user.
A light/moderate user will have battery backup up-to two days. While an Heavy user wouldn't.
So after all the battery of the device is nice but not upto the mark acc to me
My battery some time lasts for 2 days with Root applications like Greenify/Trickster Mod etc
I had already made a battery management thread a long time ago. This thread doesn't make any sense.

Greenify is very awsome...
also (for what reason ever) it saves a lot battery if you set a screenoff profile in setcpu with low frequency...
and when you avoid closing apps from ram or cache it also saves battery because cpu doesnt need to start apps again.
There is even the theory that setting performance governor saves battery because all actions are finished the fastest possible and so the phone returns to sleep earlier.
Greets
my battery lasts a day and has mostly about 30% after, and even now in holidays when i am not working and using it a lot its still enough... I am not using Data but play a lot of music (BT or headphones)

I don't know cause of it And why it keeps the phone awake

I agree with what you say, it is dependent on the user. You occasionally see people posting screenshots with 3 days battery and 50 smileys :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh: and I just think... did that person leave their phone in their pocket/on a table for 3 days? That doesn't impress anyone and it is a fake representation of the battery.
Battery details like this really help:
- screenshot of battery
- screenshot of SCREEN ON TIME
- a brief mention of usage e.g. 30 minutes per day of watching video, 3 hours internet, 1 hour gaming
- use of battery saving apps or not e.g. greenify, stamina mode, juice defender etc.
Those details really help.
Does anyone else have similar usage to me? I'm trying estimate what battery time might be normal for me.
- about 2 hours of internet every day. It's mostly news apps, read some email and a little browsing
- I don't use games on my phone much, typically 0 minutes per day
- Maybe about 15 minutes of calls per day
- I might send 10 texts per day
- I might take 2 pictures per day with the camera, no more
- Stamina mode active
Would I get more than 1 day usage?
Using BetterBatteryStats App will be really useful bro...

Battery life is is bad now. 4+ hour wake time.

So I had great battery life not too long ago but now I can barely make it a whole day. My awake times are very high and I can't pinpoint the cause. I attached some wakelock detector info. Right now I have about an hour and a half of screen on and 16% battery left.

I am having same issue with phone getting really warm. No new app installs other than things like wakelock detector. I can't figure out what is causing it and better battery stats isn't showing me anything.
Add me to the list. Never needed my third battery until yesterday. No out of the ordinary modifications.

Try freezing maps and other not needed Gapps, it solved my long wake times. I also use Tasker to hibernate all my apps then put the phone in airplane mode when the screen turns off then waken them up and turn wifi back on when the screen comes on, battery life through the roof

So what's a normal awake time?
I've had battery problems in the past with other phones but usually wake lock detector can find the offending app. Nothing is jumping out at me this time. Google seems to be using a lot but I would like to keep using those apps unaffected.

Same here I took my phone off the charger at 10pm by 1am I was down to 37% with 17 min of sot, something isn't right, I'll try to grab ss tonight. And yes the phone gets really hot
I just had my G3 replaced after my new one suddenly died on me.
I notice a couple of subtle software changes by AT&T.
Yesterday my battery was on 60%. Before I left the office.
When I got home (45 minutes) I took the phone out of the pouch and it was really hot and the battery wad won to 19%.
First time this has happened to me. Will have to monitor.
I got fed up with it all. I did a factory reset. I'm going slowly re add apps back. I certainly noticed a performance bump after the factory reset. Night and day. I didn't even realize how much it slowed until i reset it.

wake lock detector isn't really a good app for telling you exactly what the issue is. betterbatterystats is your best bet to find out exactly what the issue is - it will tell you precisely what the issue is holding your phone awake.
Sometimes, shutting down and pulling the battery out for a second is all it takes to fix the problem. rebooting doesn't always solve whatever it is...
My phone "freezes" now and again, it always has something to do with me texting, but screen off and on will fix it..and it does get warm when frozen per say...but it will normally fix itself with me interacting with it. But if your guys are not holding it when it happens I can see it draining out your battery stuck at higher clock for no reason...now wonder if I should pull logs....
When I say interact I mean I have to push the power button. Knock on won't work. Similar to the dreaded sleep of death but seems to pull out of it.

Like another user mentioned pulling battery or at least resetting the phone periodically helps with battery and helps keep things running smooth. Using Better Battery Stats and looking at Alarms and Partial Wakelocks is a good way to determine if there is a rogue app killing your battery. A couple good Xposed Modules, if you're not using them or aware of them, are Greenify to help hibernate apps that like to constantly wake the phone and NLB Unbounce module is a good one for if you want to keep your location on and keep Google Now functionality. You can set how often you want the wakelocks and alarms to trigger and with the donate you can do the same with any wakelock/alarm. Just be cautious if using the pro version as some alarms or wakelocks if disabled or tinkered with incorrectly could make the phone unstable. Just a few tips/ideas. I have the VS985 and have had pretty good battery life since getting everything set up and debloated. Usually about 17-18 hours on battery (I don't sleep much) and 4-5 hours screen on time. I like the screen on the brighter side as well, which usually I adjust with the status bar so I don't have an exact percentage for the brightness. For some other tips and apps or even maybe something you haven't thought about check out this thread: G3 Battery Tweaks :good:
Factory reset.

I noticed my phone was getting warm in the pocket too, with bad battery life. I finally figured out the phone was waking as if it thought it was getting the 'double tap' to wake. I believe you can disable the double tap in the secret menu (3845#*850#)

Z3 D6603 - Battery life is not good

Hello,
So recently i've noticed the Battery performance on my Sony Xperia Z3 has become poor, I mainly use my device for socialising etc, I don't game alot. I'm currently Running Android 4.4 Kitkat (UK)
(I'm usually at home and connected to Wi-Fi)

Check if the device is constantly awake at the detailed battery information if you click on the graph.
If that's the case, search xda for "wakelock" and how to get rid of it.
An easier attempt is, to think if it's a certain app you installed recently or a change you made to your system.

Thank you for your response,
I'll Go ahead and download a Wakelock Detector By someone who works here at XDA, and i'll see if it finds anything; But as of now my battery died again; So i left it dead for 15 minutes, and now i'm charging it back to 100% with no interruptions

You could also install the ota update for lollipop and see if that automatically solves your issue. (new versions are being created to be better)
Another option is to flash the lollipop stock rom and try if that solves it. (but that's a bit more advance)
I suddenly got a similar issue - not as bad as yours but a drop in battery life. I turned off scanning even when wifi is off and turned on location based wifi and my battery life went back to normal. I'd just had a Google Play Services update and have had this issue with various play services updates in the past on other devices which is why that was one of the first solutions I tried.
Might be worth a shot if you haven't already tried it :good:
There's always Greenify.
Repair it or flash another ftf file.
Same thing here. Since I've had this when I purchased it new I've not had any good battery life. My old z2 had way better battery life and stamina mode works.

Was there any update to this matter, OP?
What brightness options are you using? (% and adaptive or not?)
Also, did you actually update it to Lollipop? Was there any problem with wakelock?
Best regards.
Network & Wake Lock
The last screenshot you posted clearly shows that the battery drain is because of your Mobile Network and a Wake Lock.
Network Signal:
As signal strength decreases, the device requires additional power resulting in battery drain.
The cost of 1 hour’s worth of calls is 150mA, assuming a strong signal
So, on a 2000mA battery, it takes 8% of total capacity (8% =150 / 2000)
This means the same 1 hour of calls could cost as much as 23% of battery life (23% = 450 / 2000)
Wake Lock:
WakeLocks are a Power Manager system Service feature, available to your applications to control the power state of the host device.
Wake Locks can be used to keep the CPU running, prevent the screen from dimming, prevent the screen from turning off, and prevent the keyboard backlight from turning off.

Help finding/fixing idle battery drain

Hi my wife bought a Note 5 two days ago (9/30). She did all setup, app restoring, etc that evening and fully charged the phone overnight. However her phone is experiencing idle drain that I need some help fixing.
Some other info: battery saver modes are off, wifi is always on (but only connected at home), bluetooth is always off.
10/1: Arrived at work with 100% battery
A little over 4 hours later, with light use, the phone was at 51% with less that 45 mins SOT

With facebook as the biggest offender I suggested she turn off the setting of pre-loading pics and videos.
When she got home she charged phone to 100%. I also changed mobile network to CDMA/LTE. Here's how the battery looked with light use before going to bed:
10/2 - Left the phone unplugged over night to see what would happen, it lost 12% sitting on the nightstand for 8 hours.
Will report back later this afternoon to see how the day is progressing.
First step for me in reducing battery drain was to disable the Facebook app. It is a battery hog and was always at the top of my list. Instead, use a browser and create a shortcut to facebook.com or install Metal from the Play Store which is a web wrapper for Facebook and so much lighter. Sometimes I still get strange battery drain from Android system (up to 35% sometimes!). But this usually gets resolved just by opening up recent apps and closing all.
Hmm, I don't have problems with Facebook app on my droid turbo

Some people want notifications.
Regardless, Facebook doesn't seem to be showing up at the top afte the setting change. I'm interested to see what she has this afternoon. Will have some updates screen shots later on. I also asked her to charge ~3pm then drive home with nav on to see what the battery looks like under heavy usage.
I need to dig into Android System to see what's going on there, any ideas? Will GSAM pro give more insight here?
Not looking good, 22% used in 2.5 hours with 20min SOT

I lied, facebook setting is "play videos automatically", I have to assume turning this off will save data/battery. Also Instagram has "use less data" setting. I thought I read that this stops pre-loading of videos/images, but I might have imagined that?
Anyway, for facebook setting hit the menu button next to the notifications icon then scroll to "App Settings" near the bottom of the screen.
After most of a work day and light use she's down to 58%. Looks like facebook is back up there, odd because it's not a problem on my phone.
Does anyone know how to troubleshoot why Android System is using so much battery?
I have a note 4 and I'm having similar issue ls

You guys have to also take in consideration the Lollipop total connection time bug. Apps open up a connection and it won't close it when it's done... For example my first charge cycle I signed into instagram and it used 40% of my battery without me ever open again. The total connection time of most apps ends up being hours when it shouldn't be. That won't be fixed untill Marshmallow comes to the Note 5. Google is aware and has fixed it. It's on multiple Lollipop devices.

If the device is rooted then you can try Greenify to hibernate the apps which are consuming the battery life.Try other simple solutions like disabling the Wifi and other tools when not using them.Sometimes Play services may cause the issue so try to fix them. There are some guides which may help you http://fixdroidbattery.net/fix-fast-battery-drain-problem-on-samsung-galaxy-note-5/

The problem is ...because of the device used to be root although we flash original stock firmware it is still drain when device idle ...you can take a look in Android OS and see stay awake period ...one way is flash custom room that said deep sleep fix . Hope this comment could deal your problem

Something is messing my battery up.

It is pretty new. I didn't think that would effect anything. I guess I will let it have some cycles then.
I have some ideas that might be able to get the problem solved. I would first try turning off your phone for 5-10 minutes since it might be overheating. Then I would uninstall any new apps that you might have installed since you can remember the battery drain starting. There is a small chance you might be experiencing some battery drain issues from a third party app that caused a virus. Its also a good idea to get a security app like avg since its free. Other then that you might also want to check that your phone is not completely full on storage, and also consider turning off the facebook app since it can cause some serious battery drain issues as well. I think thats pretty much it if you want to get rid of facebook on your galaxy s7 here is how to do it. and it will really help with your battery life
I had the same kind of battery drain on my Sprint variant. A factory reset quickly fixed that issue for me.

So I used it up for a day and let it die completely. Charged it right back up and now its pretty bad today. These are screenshots from when I made it die.
I did disable Facebook. The Android System and Screen are using the most up right now. It went down about 7% for being almost idle. I used Twitter once.
Possible Solution to the DRAIN!
Ok, so I've had the same issues as you. My findings are as per Gsam Battery Monitor:
1. High Android OS and Android System usage~ 20-30%
2. High Phone Radio ~ 40% at times
3. Overnight drain of at least 4% (stanbby drain)
4. Screen usage 'while off' higher than 'while on'
This was frustrating and is as mentioned by other users to be a bug from updates and related to charging.
SOLUTION:
Today Gsam reports my Android OS and Android System usage and Phone Radio at 10% and below.
All i did was...
1. Let it drain to about 90% after charge.
2. Restart the phone.
3. Then plug in the micro USB to USB connector (the one that comes with the phone) with a flash drive attached and play a song/short video.
4. Unplug and enjoy great battery life.
This worked for me so it's worth a try. Will test a full charge soon and hopefully it doesn't require the steps above every time to stop the drain.
btw I'm NOT rooted, using LTE.........wifi,bluetooth, AOD and locations all off.
