Hi all!
I wasn't satisfied with any of the current methods of accessing all apps/contacts so I set out to create my own.
I present to you, Snype.
Snype has a unique dual-index system where switching between "snyping" apps and contacts is almost instant. It has changed the way I use my device and has done the same for many of my beta testers.
It also has a unique "side panel" mode where apps and contacts can be accessed simply by scrolling a finger up or down the edge of the display, which is always active no matter which app you are currently in. A list will appear and automatically begin scrolling to the location in the index that the finger is pointing to.
Snype does not try to replace your launcher. In fact, I designed it so that I would be able to use any launcher I like and not have to worry about the launcher's implementation of the app drawer. This means it's very easy to have a completely uncluttered, beautiful home screen and still be only a second away from accessing any app or contact you desire.
There are no ads and all functionality is available for free. The premium upgrade allows full customisation of the appearance of the lists.

Some things to change:
- Add more languages
- if possible the alphabet lists have a title to know that one it is for apps, and the other for contacts.
- A widget and a direct access from home.

Thanks for the excellent feedback.
More languages is actually a surprisingly large challenge due to the indexes. It is something that I might look into again later, but when I was having a crack at it before there were some significant technical hurdles.
I have thought about doing something to let you know at a glance which is for apps and which is for contacts... like different colours or something. I'm not sure. Where do you think the title should go? There's not much room there.
I also looked into doing a widget. Unfortunately widgets don't support all kinds of views so making a widget with this functionality is impossible unless the launcher is built specifically for it. That's actually the main reason I implemented the side panels, because I knew the widget would not be possible.

I just released an update to fix some crashes in the initial release.

I just released an update which added animation to the side panels, adds Snype to the list of apps and fixes some bugs. I'm still trying to hunt down some bugs that occur only on some devices. Let me know if you have one of those devices please.

Okay, I think I've got all the known bugs fixed. Let me know if there's anything else wonky.

Just released an update with a new feature: favourites bar.
Now it's even faster to access those special few apps and contacts you use most often.

I love the ability to search contracts easily! And light theme looks cool.

Very good idea. I'm thinking about replacing my app drawer with this app. Unfortunately the fly in and out animations are somewhat jerky (using a Note 3).

Yeah, Samsung devices seem to do that. I'm not sure why, since even my Galaxy Nexus is pretty smooth and the Note 3 is much more powerful. I'll keep trying to make it smoother for you.

The UI is my own spin on the traditional UI. I always had problems with music apps not displaying the full name of the song so I made sure that all song information is clearly visible at a glance.

Yes I did not want to compete with Google Music or Spotify. But can you specify what specifically you find unappealing and weird?

Am in Scotland and would really love to try this. I work as a radio DJ and this would be great to try while out and about.

I am not using a dsp. It just plays two tracks side by side. The pitch and speed are controlled by each individual players. This IS NOT a professional dj mixing application. It just lets you play tracks side by side for a new unique effect. A feature to stand out from the crowd of other music apps intended for the average user.

I understand not releasing it on the Play Store. How about a download link though?

If you uninstall the app Google will count it to the total uninstalls but they won't count the install.

I'd also like to download this and try out. How can I get it despite being region locked?

What is the point of making a app if only 1/20 of the works can download it. It's not about competition it's about being different and how do you know if your if your going to limit yourself. What's the point of that? Why release it in play at all then and just let those in the know (xda forum) test before you release it to (what countries is it even available??) VPN doesn't fool it..

still have troubles registering my fingerprint. dunno what happened. it was pretty good until that previous update that was suppose to improve the fingerprint reader *shrugs.
gotta see if they have fixed this other bug that i've had since i got the phone. sometimes the auto rotate will lock onto landscape.

I had to remove all the stored fingerprints, do a restart, and with clean hands register the fingerprints. It's working now, one time he just wouldn't recognize anything, I had to restart the phone and worked after. But I have been thinking for a week now that it does pretty well (or I'm just used with the way to unlock, with a slight slide of the finger). But yeah, like you it was really a mess after the update! Registering without rebooting got the things even worse.
I think what they did with the previous update is lowering the sensitivity of the sensor, because before I always had "too many attempts done, please try again later" because it tried to detect fingerprint each time a part of skin touched it.

Are we going to get a new thread every month for an update? Wouldn't it be better to post in the other update thread....

Few features have been added with tweaks

Improved Stability of connecting Bluetooth headset signal (especially in AAC connection mode)
Improve background control capability, optimize power saving of native system
Improve preview speed of camera interface and camera stability
Improve zoom framing and image quality
Those are the highlights according to the update page.
Some users are reporting back that fingerprint recognition is faster, and more reliable, noise reduction is better, Album is quicker, preview and processing speed increased, and 2x zoom is faster too.

thanks! that seems to have done the trick. can't tell if it's as good as when i first opened it, but it's back to usable now.

It'll release once the J8170 variant gets it. No definite time.
Check xpericheck.com from time to time for the update.

It is available, but only for China right now but it's the same model. I think really close for Hong Kong.

It's available on chc csc, but if you use Google dialer ussd codes, android 11 stops them from working so now I can't enable wwd csc. I'm going up downgrade to 10. I lost 5g and many features. Do not like it

Let us know about features, improvements and battery life when you update.
Anything that was better on Android 10 and ha been worsened in android 11. Good lock modules compatibility etc

Between all this talk of one ui 3 and android 11,do we know if this phone can bee rooted on Android 11 and how exactly?

I updated on the 4th of February but so far the battery usage appears to be similar although it's early days.
The only hiccup so far for me is the amount of apps in the folder that shows on one page i.e 3x4 now, but that's no deal breaker.
Sorry but I do not use Goodlock or any of the plug ins.
The finger print scanner appears faster and more accurate.
I like the way I can tap on the date and time on my lockscreen which now then shows my calendar , music and weather.
All early days.

Have you noticed any detoriation is call quality, signal, wifi performance, sound output and music playback.
Any changes on charging timings etc.
The volume control bar has changed to test tube like design. What's your input on that?

Call quality is the same.
I mainly use mobile data but WiFi is strong.
Network signal is the same.
I turn my phone off at night and charge then so I'm not sure on charging times.
I use Spotify Premium coupled with Samsung Buds Live and the quality remains very good although I'm no audiophile in any sense of the word.
The new volume bar reminds me a little bit of iOS !

Few bugs for me
- Night mode shots take WAY longer to process
- Camera apparently taking brighter pics than before , I have to always reduce brightness slider for faces
- Gallery straight from GCAM crashes, very slow to load when you delete pics
- Goodlock Multistar, Clockface, Pantastic and Quickstar working with their updated versions
- Battery life almost same

I decided to do factory reset since I'm noticing fps drops in games.
Wow, there is a huge difference now. The phone is literally flying and the games just runs perfect for me now.
I really recommend it if you notice performance drops.

Have you tried factory resetting the phone at all with it being a dirty install and Major Version jump from Android 12 > 13 rather than an incremental update

Also I'm now on the beta version C10 however I'm missing the Widgets for stuff like Weather, Battery etc
Anyone else missing this?

Mine has Chinese letters too.

I thought it was just me. There was one other menu option that showed Chinese characters for me but I can't get back to it when I was trying to submit feedback. Does anyone know if a screen recording is necessary for the feedback to get submitted?

Have you all submitted feedback for the chinese characters? Did you see it anywhere else?

I submitted another feedback. I saw that my previous feedback was no longer in the My Feedbacks section.

Another thing, do you notice how the screen always lights up even when there is no notification? I get it, it's AOD, but I turned off the setting for Screen Always on yet it still is randomly lighting up.
Does anyone know how to turn it off?

I don't have Spotify, but I saw the Chinese characters when I tapped on the Widget for media playback in the Control Center and saw it there. I submitted a feedback for it too.

I've noticed a few minor bugs, but I don't know how to report them. In the feedback menu, when I submit a new log it asks me to restart the phone, and after the restart, the bugs don't happen again.
I have dark theme on from sunset to sunrise, and some days when I wake up, the dark theme remains on SwiftKey keyboard although dark mode is off in the system. But maybe this is a 3rd party app problem.
I also have eye confort active from 21:00 to 07:00 and sometimes when I wake up, and it's past 07:00, although the eye confort is off in the settings menu, yet the screen has that yellow tint.
Also that Wi-Fi calling quick settings tile reappears after a restart, although I have previously removed it.

Does it allow you to share a screen recording of the issue? Weird that I haven't received a notice to restart every time I log feedback.
