The UI is my own spin on the traditional UI. I always had problems with music apps not displaying the full name of the song so I made sure that all song information is clearly visible at a glance.

Yes I did not want to compete with Google Music or Spotify. But can you specify what specifically you find unappealing and weird?
Am in Scotland and would really love to try this. I work as a radio DJ and this would be great to try while out and about.

I am not using a dsp. It just plays two tracks side by side. The pitch and speed are controlled by each individual players. This IS NOT a professional dj mixing application. It just lets you play tracks side by side for a new unique effect. A feature to stand out from the crowd of other music apps intended for the average user.
I understand not releasing it on the Play Store. How about a download link though?

If you uninstall the app Google will count it to the total uninstalls but they won't count the install.
I'd also like to download this and try out. How can I get it despite being region locked?

What is the point of making a app if only 1/20 of the works can download it. It's not about competition it's about being different and how do you know if your if your going to limit yourself. What's the point of that? Why release it in play at all then and just let those in the know (xda forum) test before you release it to (what countries is it even available??) VPN doesn't fool it..

Me? No, I wanted to check this app out and it took me <5 secs in Google to find it.
Looks good but still missing a few basic features. App also force closes a lot on my Droid X.

These are a few gripes I have with the app, the first one being the most important:
When going through the library of artists, once you pick an artist you are taken to all songs by the artist and not to a list of the albums by the artist. Sometimes when pressing the back button, the app closes to the homescreen instead of showing the previous screen. If you're playing a song and are browsing your playlist, album list, etc. there's no quick way to return to the player screen that shows the current song that's playing.

I agree, that's a biggie.
I just upload a video of the app to youtube. It is my first video so dont expect pro stuff Just a video of fingering around with PowerAmp

I picked this up and I really like it so far. The ui is great even though there are a few oddities still. When selecting an mp3 from Astro it goes to the player but it doesn't play the file I just selected...the player comes up with the last song that was being played. Still messing with it though and it looks great so far.
i think one feature that would make this a killer music player... that if its possible to restrict musics off one folder (eg. "Music") in the root of SD... this way i dont have to listen to machine gun and other android game sound fx on my media player... veryyy annoying..!!!!

Simplistic Equalizer has been updated!
Should be better than the first version!
I don't know who has or hasn't tried it but i can confirm that it'll also work for YouTube, so if your like me and don't like YouTubes sound quality then the app should help a little or a lot

New version not compatible with Galaxy S4
Had to get a new phone and am now told that this isn't compatible. I am running 5.0.1. It was working before I had to replace the phone. What should I do? I love this app!

@randylsmith - you need to do a little workaround
1. Go to Play Store via browser, for ex. on a computer (not Play Store app),
2. Find a site which allows to extract .apk files from Play Store.
3. Copy and paste Play Store's app link to the extraction site.
4. Download apk
5. Copy apk file to phone
6. Install
7. Enjoy
Don't know why exactly Play Store says it's not compatible,
in my case after these steps above - everything works fine..
Especially on YouTube app where there was no equalizer - this app really helps by staying in background
and applying more BASS to my headphones

Hello XDA, I'm the developer of a new Android app called Billy. It lets you browse and listen to the most popular pop/rock/dance songs currently.

Quite nice. Note: There are several of these on Play with more feeds, but awaiting more feeds here. UI is quite navigable.
Since the screen is quite sparse, used Xposed Appsettings to show more songs. Lower "DPI" and magnified font size to compensate so still readable. However, tab-bar now covers half of the title bar. So ... might suggest the number of songs/pane be adjustable and scaled within the app rather than from outside (anyone tried this using Paranoid's DPI settings?).
Might also embed a simple youtube player rather than rely on that app being around (since there are alternatives and many of us do not keep it).

I'm supporting your app, I'm even going to recommend it to my small reader base of a local spanish Android blog we're starting, hope it gets you a bit more users and constructive feedback.
My Opinion: Is pretty good as a discovery app, I'm having no errors luckily. A way for autoplaying the sections (playlist?) would be nice. I also backup the Deezer/Rdio/Spotify linking idea. Great job man! I like your app.
I'm having the same trouble like everyone else. And it can't play the YouTube video without a YouTube app.

Yes, it happens with a few songs because SoundCloud is not providing MP3s for them. I'm trying to fix this.
Next, I think I made a bad generalization that everyone will have the official YouTube app. I'll have to fix this one too.

WHOOPS:silly:I didn't see that and i too use xposed appsettings...but i keep my phone's default dpi at 145 then upscale systemui.apk and nova launcher to 160 . then its all ok but it cuts the actionbar text for only billy when i enable expanded mode

Something related to 64 bit must be the issue. I'll look into it and push a update soon. If possible, can you try it on some other device and report back? Thanks!

what happens when you try opening it? what's your phone model?(got a custom rom?) and do other equalizers work fine on your phone? (like this one)

Nothing happens when I touch equaliser option
My phone model no. Is C103(Coolpad Cool 1),stock ROM
That equaliser works well

God job man, my only choice for the music love!
Really like the YouTube search option, makes finding and sharing tunes a breeze!
I have few suggestions though:
Media Scanner to rescan the external SD card so the player can discover the newly downloaded content. The native scanner only scans the card at boot up.
Rotation support, I really dislike when apps don't support landscape orientation. First of all, landscape offers wider view for which comes in handy to see long song names and second, it's rather annoying having to rotate the phone every time when switching between apps that have different rotation support.
Now playing open window options availablity, can you add a favourite button and direct YouTube song search there so switching to the current playlist section is uneeded?
Otherwise this is one of the very best music apps there is and I would love to throw you a little donation, specially if you could implement some of these suggestions! ?
Looks good. But need folder and storage option searchs. Otherwise works great. Would like rotation as well but these are just suggestions. Good job
The app always crashes if I rotate the screen when the app is onscreen. I'm running Lineage OS on Galaxy S5.

What's the chances of adding a feature where I can select which folders to be scanned for music? And also a share option for media?

I'd really like to know what's going on with development of this fine app? XDA Labs says it's removed from the repo, hopefuly not for good. Maybe devs decided to move elsewhere?
