Magnets and photocamera ???

So I have been using on my old galaxy note N7000 one of these 'fisheyes' that you can get online from china for a few dollars. The same thing you can find in the city for like 5x the price.
Anyway this 'fisheye' if you don't know it is a little lens that you can attach, when you need it, to the camera lens of the phone through a magnet. Basically you have a very little metal circle with double sided tape on the lens, where the fisheye will attach through magnetism.
I have tried to apply this to the nexus 5, but I hear some very worrying rattle. What is that? Is that the camera? What relation is between the magnet and the camera? Or maybe just behind the camera (or besides it) is something else like the vibration module?
Anyway, if I shake the phone (hold it from the bottom and shake it diagonally), I hear something moving inside (ticking). Is it normal? What is that? Everything works perfectly, I thought I had messed autofocus but it works normally (it actually works even with the fisheye but while the fisheye is on, something vibrates in a ticky way). By the way, I got the phone like 2 days ago. I like the fisheye is a fun thing for photos and holidays, I can give that up, but this rattle in the phone now is scaring me. Yet the rational part of my brain can't find any reason why a little magnet like the one of the fisheye would damage anything about the phone.

Anyway some confirmation would be nice. And also to know whether this magnet would make things worse or not. There is a spot where the fisheye can stay attached without provoking any rattle (I keep using this word, I mean something that ticks in a repetitive way don't know if it is enough descriptive), but it would change if I bend the phone in a certain angle.
EDIT::::: now that I think about, the noise by shaking the phone in front and backwards may be the sim card....in fact I cut my standard sim card myself to match the micro sim shape and it was a bit loose. I will check without sim card, but anyway the thing about the magnet and the camera is still an open question I would like to figure out. Why does it produce a vibrating noise and will it damage the camera or not (image stabilizer?)

I hear some rattling when I shake it. Probably nothing to be worried about. I do think it is the SIM card because when I took mine out I couldn't hear anything.

First off, do not use any magnets on the Nexus 5. It will damage the image stabilizer. Secondly, the rattling you hear is the image stabilizer. The image stabilizer isn't broken it rattles because it is made to flex.

So what about all these websites that are saying the camera ring of the nexus 5 is magnetized exactly to host the 3rd party micro lens available on the market??? They all (almost) work with magnets attachments....are they all wrong?

They're not wrong for trying to make money. Our phone has the OIS (optical image stabilizer) and can/will eventually get ruined if you attach a magnet next to it.

The internet is wrong about that one. Take everything you read online with a grain of salt and consider the sources.
If it was a feature of the phone Google would mention it.

LG G4 Rattle sound when shaking

Hi guys,
I got my LG G4 2 week ago, and i started notice that if i shake the device, it has a strange rattle sound. I think it's coming from the vibrate motor, but i'm not sure. It's very frustrating.
Someone has the same problem? Or it's normal? Please help me!

Any resolution to this? After months of no issue my g4 just started doing this. Also, the audio quality coming from the speaker has degraded.

A quick google search suggests it's either the speaker or the vibration motor. However, there's something pointing you can open your camera app and see if the phone still rattles.... If you can find out what the rattling there's no doubt you can it up and tape whatever it is...

Something loose inside pixel's body?

Hi, I have found something curious. When I start shacking my phone I can hear noise coming from the top part of it, it sounds like a loose screw or something like that do you also have it? Is it a camera stabilization or my device is broken and I should replace it?

Likely the camera OIS module, I find just about any phone makes some sort of loose item noise if you shake it hard enough. My Pixel 2 also has a rattle though it's pretty muted compared to other phones I've had.

I just now picked up my Nexus 5x and shook it, and it seems you are correct - it makes a rattling sound also (as if something is loose). It's not surprising though, considering how many times I've dropped/tossed it, both accidentally and purposefully. I wonder if it made that noise when I first got it...

Yes, replacement is same

I noticed a loose sounding noise if I tap the top of the phone on the left or right edge or behind the earpiece. At first I also thought it might be the OIS. But then I notice I get a similar sound from the speaker at the bottom, if I tap the phone on the bottom edge.
Then I checked on my old Nexus 4, which does not have OIS, and it makes exactly the same type of slight rattling sound if I tap the phone on the top edge by the earpiece.
So I think there is some sort of moving part in cell phone speakers (after all something has to move to create sound waves) that rattles a little if you tap or shake the phone in the right way.

Are you joking? Because that makes no sense. I hear this type of rattling coming from the top speaker. And I hear it separately coming from the bottom speaker. There is only one haptic feedback engine in the phone so it could not produce a rattling noise in two different places in the phone. (Also from Jerry Rig's teardown, we know the haptic feedback engine is in the bottom of the phone, so it can't explain a rattling noise coming from the top of the phone.)

I didn't say haptic feedback, you said haptic feedback.
I also clearly said that it was the same type of noise coming from both the top and bottom of the phone, which means it would have to be the speakers, since that's the only thing there are two of, one in each of those positions. And I said that I had the same type of noise coming from the earpiece on my Nexus 4. So the whole point of my first post was that I was ruling out OIS, which others had suggested, and felt pretty confident the sound comes from the speakers. I wasn't looking for suggestions. I was explaining my reasoning for why it seems like it's the speakers that make the sound.

My LG K4 2017 ($100 smart phone with headphone jack) phone doesn't. Galaxy S6 doesn't. Galaxy S8 doesn't. Lol, so no, not all phones do it. Only google specifically ones (that are defective) which make these noise lol.

Why are you saying its fine when its not? lol... other phones with OIS don't make the noise.. Stop justifying for google's manufacturing defects.

As I explain in my posts, I think the slight rattling noise actually comes from the speakers, not the OIS. I think the OIS guess is wrong. I've explain my reasons in more detail above.
However, in order to get the sound you have to tap the edge of the phone in just the right place and just the right way. It's easy to shake or tap the phone and not get the sound at all. So I'm pretty sure I could get this sound on all of the phones you mentioned. In fact, next time I'm in a carrier store I'll try the S8. I think it's just something speakers do. I've tried several different model phones and they all do it.

Camera mechanism very rattly, anyone else?

My camera is really rattly and doesnt secure in the closed position!
Its ****ing disgusting of a sound when I put in down on a table, is this normal?

Mine seems pretty OK. No rattling when I control the camera.

There might be some quality control issues. I've seen a few mention rattling but most say theirs is fine. So with that in mind it sounds like you risk having to RMA the device when you get it.

My camera was rattling too if I did not use the Quick Control Button to retreat the camera regularily because the camera is hitting the case even when shaking it.
I fixed it by placing a strip of duct tape under the camera and now it is silent.

The same problem with my flipcam.

Mine works fine.

My camera is firm and doesnt rattle, it does make some noise when the camera moves but thats to be expected I think.

Well, it seems as if it's going to be a crap shoot whether you get one that rattles or not? Too risky unless we get way more reviews saying that it doesn't rattle.

Difficult to say with such a small sample size.
Could be 1%, 5%, 20%, 50% or 90% with issues. The quality control might get better or the mechanism might just have that bad yields. So right now we have to assume it's either a small number of devices or first batch problems. I find it hard to believe they'd bring a device to market with glaring issues. You never know though.

Yes and it isn't comparable.
This is a quality control issue from the factory. I haven't heard anyone say it started rattling later (nor does it seem there would be time to start breaking the device through regular use unless it's sensitive and starts rattling from dust and debris).
The Fold worked fine at the factory and testing in a controlled environment did not reveal the fragility of the design. Otherwise we may as well bring up Note 7 too. That's also a design flaw.
Since not all models rattle it isn't necessarily a design flaw but one of quality and yields. Of course Asus is welcome to make a statement on what causes the issue.

Mine also rattle when put down on table and same with just tapping the screen. Otherwise it is good. Weird that no review mentioned this, not even tech tablets. If the phone didn't cost 570 euro, but 250 euro I would not mind, but I'm going to return it, it is unacceptable for the price.

Mine doesn't rattle when closed, but also doesn't open fully. It sits at a slight angle when open, so I have to press "volume up" for a second to straighten it. As far as I can see there's no calibration tool for camera angle. This might help solve both problems.

Mine rattle to
the camera opens a little whenever I was fast walking with the phone in my pocket or when I wear lose pants but I fixed it by adding 2 strips of tape behind the camera :/
I found out that the rattle is coming from the hinge at the side where the volume buttons are

To clarify - this is how it always is, but it happens - lets say once a day - camera just get _more_ loose by itself. I will create another video how it is all the time (it is still pretty bad in quiet environment) - but it will be harder to catch with one hand holding camera phone.

Can other users of this phone confirm if it is a faulty unit or it is "normal" behaviour? Camera module seems to be wonky and loose, not firmly closed/locked. No reviewers mention this problem.

Mine moves a little bit too.
And 2 strips of tape help. I'm fine with it.

Rattle Noise from inside the Phone/Camera

Hey guys,
I own a Oppo Find X2 Pro since June. So far everything was fine with the phone.
But two weeks ago the phone started to have a clearly audible rattling from inside (seems to be somewhere near the camera-unit).
I read that some phones with OIS seem to have the problem with a "moving" Lens or sth similar.
My problem is that the rattling just started 2 weeks ago and in the months before there wasn't any sound. Also there seems to be no sound when I'm inside the camera app & at 5x zoom.
I sent the phone to the local repair service (in Germany) and they just sent it back with the comment "The housing tolerances you complain about (gap dimensions, play or slight rattling of the mechanical parts, functions that are too smooth-running/sluggish etc.) correspond to the manufacturer's specifications and therefore do not constitute a defect."
So now the question is, is somebody else facing the same problem? If yes, did you have contact to Oppo/the customer service & what was their response? Because in my opinion the rattle is way to loud and there shouldn't occur such things with a 1000+€ phone.

Mines is very rattly when I shake it slow to, I just think that's normal because the lens moves, if it was firm then the ois would be **** I would say

Most stablised cameras will do this these days. Its because they are suspended on a mechanism that isolates them from the phone chassis. Very similar to springs and shocks in your car.

When I open the camera app there is still a rattle without zoom. When I turn it into 5x zoom the rattle stops and doesn't come back again even when I go back to 1x (in this situation you can hear a very slight rattle only if you listen carefully in a silent enviroment).
But when I close the camera app or switch for example to the front camera and back to the rear, the loud rattle starts again.
What is worrying me is that there wasn't any rattle in the first months of usage and it only started a few weeks ago.
Even if the rattle is normal I don't think it should be that loud.

Mine rattles upon shaking no sound when simply opening the camera.

Was from the first day when you buy your phone. It's autofocus lens witch is all the time without power, when is needed then coils are powered, even with 5x zoom when you start shaking you can hear how this optic system tried making stable photo. In short explanation.

Yeah, but I mean the camera works the way I want it to work, I'm not really fussed about a sound it makes, as long as the camera works and video it's fine, btw the s20 range makes these sounds to

i also have a question my find x2 pros ultra wide angle camera is not perfectly in the center

I found this thread as I have this same issue with my magic 4 pro. I emailed support and they claimed its normal.....
The reason the little sound is in there is due to safety measures made for the water resistance feature. We can assure you that is nothing wrong with your device and it is often found at Honor Magic4 Pro because of its spec.
