[Q] Power Button - Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
Just got my LTE NP. First thing I noticed was power button. It don't come "out" from body like volume buttons and when pressed, you don't notice when it's down. You can feel *snap* when using volume, but with power you feel nothing, absolutely nothing... How I could say it, that button feels "flat".
I tried couple another Note Pros, and they felt like just same? But should it really be like that? Or should it be just like Volume buttons (or my Note 3 power button)
Asking this now since NP is still otherways untouched with all the plastic covers on etc..
Can you please say how is your Power button on your 12.2 N-Pro?
Thanks.

On my Wifi NP, the power button does stick out from the body, and is clickable with that snappy feedback. It sticks out about half as much as the volume buttons, but is still noticicable and not laying "flat" on the top.

Mine is also coming out of the body like the volume buttons and has a clickable feel to it. If your button is flat, then you have a defective unit and I would send it back for a replacement asap.
Developers don't need no stinkin' signature!
If I've been able to help you, please hit the "Thanks" button.

Thank you for your replies, button is not completely flat compared to body itself. It's just not coming out as much as volume buttons. I noticed that if I gently pull power button towards the back, button is like it should be.. but when pushing forward (from back to screen side) button goes a bit crazy and you can't say if you press that is it at bottom or not. But maybe I can live whit that, since I'm using this right now and no one is going to take it from me Lol. How could I live all these years without Note Pro 12.2 4G tablet

Hello
just got my p900 today and noticed same problem with you. Power button stays little bit inside and difficult to feel the push click. It is working but it bothers me so much. Should i request a replacement? Or any easy way to make it come out how it should be?

When I bought my device I went back to store and tried couple devices there. They all was the same so I kept my device. It was about same time I bought mine, a friend bought 10.1 2014 Edition and it had same problem. I can't say the button is good, but I'm used to it. I also bought Samsung book cover for it so I have no problem with that button since flip cover turns screen on/off. And if automatic screen lock turns screen of while cover is open, Home button turns it back on. So I kinda never use that button anyway. It works everytime but just feels weird.
It's up to you if you want to take it back and try if another device got proper button or not.

Hello, I'm on my 3rd one because of a screen freeze issue that I can't find anyone else with on the planet and don't know where to post it. But anyways my first 2 the power buttons were way higher than the 3rd I got today. It actually was there very first thing I noticed. I've had this problem with my s4 power button as well which got replacements for, but this third one is low to tha flo ? ? ? ?

All buttons should feel the same, if your power button feels flat it's defective. Replace it is easy and it's not expensive.
In the picture, the power button is at the bottom of the Side Key FPCB, center is Volume Down, top is Volume Up.
When rear case is removed, Power button will be on the right, and Volume Up is on the left.

I have get used to my 'loose' power button. It does work fine even it feels dumb, and in fact I don't have much use for it anyways (Flip cover that turns screen on/off)
Good to know it can be replaced easily/cheaply in case ever needed.
Thanks for replying even this thread is old and big plus for the pictures you've attached!

[Q] Power and Volume bottons sticking.

Did a quick search and didn't find too much..
A couple of weeks ago I noticed that my volume buttons started to feel soft. Mostly volume down and nowadays the volume up button is sticking and makes a louder click when it comes back out. Both still work for now.
And now within the past couple days, my power button pretty much lost all of its clickyness. As in it still works, but doesn't hardly move at all and is now harder to turn the screen on and off. Anyone else noticing these common trends?
My volume down button was like that for a while. I took off the back cover and used a can of compressed air to try and force any dirt and/or dust out from under the button. It took several tries, but the buttons all work fine now. Hope it helps.

Power button

My Transformer power button feels a little lose compared to the volume button... is the power button like this on all Eepads or should I exchange mine? works fine but it feel weird...
TIA!
I have two, and both of them have power buttons that are solid, as are the volume buttons. If exchanging it is an option, I think that's a good idea. I don't think you'd want to find one day that you are unable to turn the thing on because the power button's come completely loose or something.
My power button is slightly loose as well. I work at Best Buy, and our demo model is slightly loose too. I think it's just luck of the draw. I doubt it will ever pop off or anything, but it's definitely not as tight as the volume knockers on some models.
Same here, my power button is slightly loose too. Bought it a couple weeks ago, B70 SBK2.
Although I'm not afraid of the button malfunctioning, y try to use it as little as possible, just like in all of my gadgets.
Its probably the weakest point on all of them, along with batteries. (Imo)

Build of the power button and vol buttons, something wrong with my note?

Hey all! Just something bothering me for a bit but I just wanted someone or preferably a few people to check and confirm something that may be a problem with my Note. Is the power button raised lower than the volume buttons? I say this because the volume buttons extrude out further and are more rigid than the power button on my note. To be honest this does make pressing the power button easier, but once again, just checking. This doesn't affect the Note in anyway, just something on my mind. Thanks for any replies!

That's how mine is too.. power button is half the height I'd say.
They are all like that. Obviously part of the design to make it easier to find the volume button, and harder to hit the power button by mistake.

Xperia Z3 Jammed/Broken Power and Volume Buttons

Hey guys, yesterday when I pulled my phone out of my pocket, I noticed the power button wasn't working. Upon closer inspection, it is jammed and will only register a press if I really push on it hard. Then I realized the volume buttons were the same exact way, which is strange because the phone has been in a case its entire life and is immaculate. But anyways, has anyone else encountered this? I tried doing a search but no results. The power button works if I really put pressure on it and only the top volume button works if I press it hard as well. The camera button is perfectly fine.
I purchased this phone brand new from T-Mobile November 2014, it may be time to upgrade...
Some cases cause this problems as they put consistent pressure on the buttons
Just experienced this last night. No idea what's caused it. My phone lives in a case with a power button cutout so there's no pressure on it. Odd, and irritating because thus phone is perfect otherwise, and the first one I've ever had that I still liked after 18 months.

Probably either broken button strip, or it has been dislodged from its mountings. You need to remove back cover, then battery and you can see whats going on.

Volume Rocker Somewhat Loose on Pixel

Hello everyone! So when I went to test out the Pixel at a Verizon store, I noticed that the power button felt solidly in place, yet the the volume rocker piece was slightly loose. Later on, I went ahead and bought the Pixel and realized that my buttons were solid. However after only a week of use, I have noticed that while the power button stays in place, the volume rocker wiggles slightly. Is this normal in any of the other Pixel's? Let me know what you think, thanks!

Sure, mine moves a little. It will even rattle if I shake it, but I have to be in a near silent room to hear it. I'm not worried about it in the slightest.
