I was offered a brand new galaxy note, and I am very tempted, I don't want to be, and but my geek self and love for big phones can't help it.
Basically just wanting to come firm once we get source will think some cm9, and aokp, and miui, be running 100%.
I am loving this phone, buy I have a ln issue with keeping phones, lol.
Any info/opinions would be great.

Really depends on what you want. I currently own both devices and dev for the note. The one x is a better phone in my opinion in all aspects. If the one x had the same screen as the note I'd sell my note in a heartbeat. No source is needed for good cm9 or aokp. Note doesn't even have official ics and we have cm9 aokp miui and paranoidandroid

Thanks for this, I think that's all I needed. Do we have paranoidandroid? Or it that coming soon?
If anyone else has an opinion please feel free to share.
I can't use cm9 until the camcorder works, we are expecting a baby any day now.

Idk I have been asked to bring in unofficial build over but I really like the rom I'm running now and my aokp from for the note kinda takes up my deving time right now

That would be sweet I have heard it rocks.
Another reason I haven't went to cm9 is I don't like the button mapping, and haven't been able to map it back myself, not that I have tried very hard.

I traded my galaxy note for the one x and I do miss the screen size of the note but love the one x so much more it's the little features that make me love it like being able to forward my text and email to my work phone right out the box and the camera on the one x is to me the best camera on any phone and to me the one x just seems to run smoother and I have not even rooted mine I have had it for about 2 weeks and love just running stock that's just my 2 cents

Once we get Kernel Source It will be all over. I see great things ahead for this device. No way would swap it for a Note.
you posted in a htc one x forum, of course we will say no... lol
I just got the One X last week and I'm loving it. I switched from Sprint to AT&T, so my choices were between the Note and One. They're both awesome and I was very tempted by the large screen, but in terms of performance the One X wins hands down. And my inner geek forced me to go for performance.
(Of course, I run xmonad on my laptop for the performance over beauty rationale too. lol)
BTW, I just flashed CM9 alpha5 and it's pretty sweet so far.
I switched from a note to a hox (on day 30!) And I don't regret it at all. The screen size was nice and the pen was fun but I'm really liking the one x. I came from an iPhone and had no clue what Android was about. The guy who was helping me when I initially got the note recommended the one x but all I could think about was the big screen of the note. I'm glad I had those 30 days for the exchange!
I have both devices and don't get me wrong, the big screen is kinda cool but it doesn't touch the One X. If I had to choose it would be the One X all the way.

If AT&T's note had the Exynos and not the S3 it would have been a tougher decision for me. Thankfully the S3 is pretty weak so I never even considered getting it. I haven't been happier about a phone purchase before. I love my HOX more than I loved my E4GT (one of the best phones ever), and even more than I loved my OG EVO 4G, and that says an awful lot.
I have made up mind, staying with the HOX. Cm9 is coming along nice, and I have done lots of reading the hox will keep me happier.
Thanks everyone.

Smart man Now stop posting in this thread so it dies and we can all forget that you were considering leaving your HOX for an inferior device
Out of all the Sense based Roms on XDA I must admit that Viper X is the best I have ever used.
Is Sense more feature rich in your opinion that stock or Cyanogen Mod Roms...??? Im beginning to think so.
What do you guys think?

You should post in the One X forum, not the general.
And Sense is always more feature rich. Cyanogenmod, AOSP, etc. are supposed to be simple, light and fast.
It's just that Sense is a big resource hog and takes precious RAM, memory, and slows down official updates.

Looking for a good aokp Rom as long as I have working data/wifi, calls, and camera id be set
Running the rogers version as well

You should probably send him over to the Endeavor forum to increase his choices. He can flash one of theirs and tell us how it worked out
That's not funny.
I'm not a newbie I came from a s2 skyrocket I'm just unfamiliar with this device and don't want to hard brick it
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
You don't want to stray out of this set of forums. International one x roms could easily brick your phone.

Sorry I could not resist. Back to being a good boy now.
Until we get the kernel source for the 4.0.4 I think sense 4.1 based roms are going to give the best performance and battery life. I do prefer aosp based roms but what is the point if you end up sacrificing all the things that aosp roms are supposed to give you just to get away from sense.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Yea I ended up going with aokp 4.0.4 and well after a day I actually missed some things from sense so went back to my backup
I think the reason I was skeptical of sense was because of touchwiz on my old skyrocket
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
What ROM did you decide on? I flashed pretty much all the available ROMs for our phone and found myself coming back to CleanROM 4.5. The CleanMODS definitely adds value and it's very good on battery too. Usually get about 16hours of moderate use and she's down to about 35% at the end of the day.
Also, Sense 4.0/4.1 is much better than any of the other OEM skins (TouchWIZ, Blurr, etc..) as it's the most intuitive of all the skins. Prefer it to AOSP Android now because it's just as snappy with so much functionality included. Ran AOSP ROMs on my old DZ because Sense 2.0, 2.1, 3.0, 3.5 were all crap and bloated; as soon as Sense 4.0 came out, it was like HTC finally got the message.
+1 for CleanRom.
Do your homework. The ScottsRoms CleanRom 4.5 DE had everything I wanted and nothing else to bog it down.
I'm also an APEX believer now for the fact that it restored my desktop after an upgrade.
Been wondering since I have switched from Sense to MIUI...
Will there be 3.4.10 kernel for MIUI (AOSP) just like sense?

Im asking this cause i think the 3.4.10 kernel has awesome performance and great battery life

Like using the new 4.1 kernel sources from htc for aosp 4.1? That would be awesome.

I was wondering.. Where would someone like me start if I wanted to do it myself? I don't need anyone to walk me through anything, just where I should start. I know my way around linux, if it helps.
Would this work?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1847344
FYI, the AOSP devs for this device (including h8rift and lots others) as well as devs for other devices have been working for quite a while on a 3.4 kernel for AOSP ROMs. Trust me, they've put lots of work into it. If you want to help, contact them, but definetely don't start from scratch.
It's quite a heavy task. Check out the CM10.1 thread, h8rift has spoken about their work on the kernel.
Yeah, there's a ton of work going into the 3.4 kernel. The best part about it? From h8 himself:
We're working on a huge thing right now. 3.4 kernel, which means that we can basically shadow the nexus 4's updates step by step. its on the side from what we're doing on nightlies right now.
3.4 kernel has no screen tearing, we can probably stop hacking our camera HAL and use nexus 4's instead, as well as many other things.
Basically, if all goes well, this phone will become a nexus4 on the inside, and an HTC One XL on the outside (casing). Thank LG/Google for using the msm8960 platform for its nexus, as it would not be possible otherwise. This is very exciting.

Yes, jewel and ville are in lockstep with evita on this.
3.4 kernel is not a stopping point. We are on a fully caf kernel (which is what mako is built off of). As mako gets updates from CAF, we will update ours, etc. This phone could live for a very long time on this new caf based kernel.

any cook will have planned a version of android 4.4.2 with sense 5 or will be working only with the normal version of the android for this terminal?

I think he wants to know if there will be a Sense version of Kit Kat. Terminology is a bit off, but that's what I gathered.
I really don't dabble to much into Sense Roms, because I prefer AOSP, so I really don't have a good answer for you.
Sent from my One X using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I highly doubt it, unless a port comes from a portable device.
Sent from my Evita
mmm thanks for your answers, it seems to us the kit kat is without sense 5 for htc one x
Which devices are portable
Sent from my HTC Butterfly s using Tapatalk
The easiest to port from are devices which share the same chipset and display resolution.
Sent from my Evita
like the evo 4g lte. or the one mini. kind of curios to see what can and cant be ported. and can you port CM 10.2 to run sense or would it be easer to port from a difrent device.
it just came a few hours back on the portal that HTC one X and one X+ wont receive any further official updates.
and as far as ports are concerned we dont have any device with a similar chip set the latest desire series 500,501,700 etc have the snapdragon 400 or lower versions... the flagships like m7 and the m8 when it will release will have the snapdragon 800 version!
the s4 chipset is only available for HTC one s and ours so its highly unlikely!
well there was a port from I think the m7 or a difrent one that was 4.1.2 with sense 5 so there is a device that can be ported. I dont know how but it can be done.
Yea even sundream mentioned it ....so did zarboz
Finger crossed
