3.4.10 kernel for AOSP? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Been wondering since I have switched from Sense to MIUI...
Will there be 3.4.10 kernel for MIUI (AOSP) just like sense?
Sent from my One X

Im asking this cause i think the 3.4.10 kernel has awesome performance and great battery life

Like using the new 4.1 kernel sources from htc for aosp 4.1? That would be awesome.

I was wondering.. Where would someone like me start if I wanted to do it myself? I don't need anyone to walk me through anything, just where I should start. I know my way around linux, if it helps.
Would this work?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1847344

FYI, the AOSP devs for this device (including h8rift and lots others) as well as devs for other devices have been working for quite a while on a 3.4 kernel for AOSP ROMs. Trust me, they've put lots of work into it. If you want to help, contact them, but definetely don't start from scratch.
It's quite a heavy task. Check out the CM10.1 thread, h8rift has spoken about their work on the kernel.

Yeah, there's a ton of work going into the 3.4 kernel. The best part about it? From h8 himself:
We're working on a huge thing right now. 3.4 kernel, which means that we can basically shadow the nexus 4's updates step by step. its on the side from what we're doing on nightlies right now.
3.4 kernel has no screen tearing, we can probably stop hacking our camera HAL and use nexus 4's instead, as well as many other things.
Basically, if all goes well, this phone will become a nexus4 on the inside, and an HTC One XL on the outside (casing). Thank LG/Google for using the msm8960 platform for its nexus, as it would not be possible otherwise. This is very exciting.

Yes, jewel and ville are in lockstep with evita on this.
3.4 kernel is not a stopping point. We are on a fully caf kernel (which is what mako is built off of). As mako gets updates from CAF, we will update ours, etc. This phone could live for a very long time on this new caf based kernel.

Read this.....http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/the-complete-review-of-cyanogenmod-7-walkthrough-guide
Cm7 is fast and quite customizable.
Myt4g on pacquiao type roids.miui.panache.
My old Desire with CM7 on it has never been so fast! It's a really nice modified rom that's fast and doesn't have all the Sense bloatware on it.
That being said, I like Sense. And I'm happy with my Sensation now . But I might give CM7 a try just for kicks.
It's vanilla Android with small tweaks that make it great. You have a small ROM that is fast and made by a team of awesome coders.
CM goes way back with the first google phone. So allot of people know it.

THIS. The stock bluetooth stack in this phone is horrible. I can't get more than 10 feet from my phone without it disconnecting & I can't even turn my head without the audio cutting out.

I had an Eris before my current DInc2 and cm is crap for both. They have little to NO support for my phone and every time I run their ROM it fails as bad if not worse than the half assed alphas put there. Sure it has cool customization choices, but on my DInc2 it is worthless in my opinion until it is fully functional.
I (and you) should never settle for less than fully functional for something so "popular"

The one good thing to come from CM7 is MIUI - which I'm quite looking forward to trying (although I probably go back to Sense)
Personally I am more of a fan of the CM7 based ROMs that come after. Each developer gets a chance to put there own unique touch to the cm7 based ROMs. I remember from the nexus one days after cm dropped the ROMS came flying in with everyone's personal touch. The CM7 code provides a rock solid base with all features working.

Best way to rid myself of sense?

I have a quick question-What is the best way to rid myself of sense completely? All of the roms I have seen are either sense or NFC Is not working. there may not be one yet but is there any rom with no sense at all and that still has nfc enabled?
Your up a creek without a paddle. You can't do what your looking to do without losing features. Until HTC or att gives us the kernel source, we have are all stuck.

Not never...just not right now. We don't have kernel source so the devs are either flying blind or grounded depending on what's broken. I believe rohan almost has NFC working on AOKP, so I believe it's just a matter of time.

Once a version of JB is leaked/released for the One XL should a full and complete port of CM10 (meaning everything working) follow soon after?

if the leak is device specific for the one xl, then probably gonna take a week or two to get everything working. if you mean just normal jelly bean release then its still taking a while.

I disagree CM10 is very good right now, and can be used as a daily driver for those that don't want/need a camera. If you want JB its your best bet cause the AOKP JB version sd card doesnt mount, along with 3-4 other things that DO work on CM10 and not AOKP(I know AOKP JB is an INITIAL RELEASE and a WIP, I've used it and enjoyed it, I think rohan is an excellent dev.
I mean, now that kernel source is out we shouldn't really need an official JB release from HTC...though I'm guessing it would make things a whole lot easier.
Kernel only dropped last week so the devs haven't really had a lot of time to what they do.

Sorry I could not resist. Back to being a good boy now.
Until we get the kernel source for the 4.0.4 I think sense 4.1 based roms are going to give the best performance and battery life. I do prefer aosp based roms but what is the point if you end up sacrificing all the things that aosp roms are supposed to give you just to get away from sense.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Yea I ended up going with aokp 4.0.4 and well after a day I actually missed some things from sense so went back to my backup
I think the reason I was skeptical of sense was because of touchwiz on my old skyrocket
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
What ROM did you decide on? I flashed pretty much all the available ROMs for our phone and found myself coming back to CleanROM 4.5. The CleanMODS definitely adds value and it's very good on battery too. Usually get about 16hours of moderate use and she's down to about 35% at the end of the day.
Also, Sense 4.0/4.1 is much better than any of the other OEM skins (TouchWIZ, Blurr, etc..) as it's the most intuitive of all the skins. Prefer it to AOSP Android now because it's just as snappy with so much functionality included. Ran AOSP ROMs on my old DZ because Sense 2.0, 2.1, 3.0, 3.5 were all crap and bloated; as soon as Sense 4.0 came out, it was like HTC finally got the message.
+1 for CleanRom.
Do your homework. The ScottsRoms CleanRom 4.5 DE had everything I wanted and nothing else to bog it down.
I'm also an APEX believer now for the fact that it restored my desktop after an upgrade.

This isn't entirely true. Android KitKat was designed to use less power. It can technically be used on some of the oldest android devices.

as faar as 4.4 is concerned its optimized for Devices with lower memory (so it has to be fast) and there are a few observable changes in UI as well (no more stock HALO BLUE color) so i would really love to have it!

Just because CM is almost unusable recently it doesn't mean other ROMs are necessarily the same. Slimbean (4.3) is perfectly stable, in fact I've been using it for weeks and I haven't encountered any issues at all. I'd actually class the ROM as being almost perfect. The only reason it loses points in my mind is because it doesn't have a screenshot tile, other than that I can't fault it at all. I'm actually seriously surprised more people aren't using it, maybe they just aren't aware it's there.

i admit the fact even i was unaware of SLIMBEAN being 4.3.
in fact i was going to give Beanstalk a try cause its an OFFICIAL NIGHTLY and your signature also mentions it :good:
for the screenshot i believe there are aftermarket apps so that will be no issue for me!
secondly i had this thing in mind!?
does any AOSP rom have a battery saver option where the device goes to sleep!?
cause that really helps me!
I forgot my signature still said that, changed back to Slimbean now lol. As far as I know there's no battery saver tool built in to aosp, you can use an app like Tasker to cut data connections etc while the screen is off though.
