Read this.....http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/the-complete-review-of-cyanogenmod-7-walkthrough-guide
Cm7 is fast and quite customizable.
Myt4g on pacquiao type roids.miui.panache.
My old Desire with CM7 on it has never been so fast! It's a really nice modified rom that's fast and doesn't have all the Sense bloatware on it.
That being said, I like Sense. And I'm happy with my Sensation now . But I might give CM7 a try just for kicks.
It's vanilla Android with small tweaks that make it great. You have a small ROM that is fast and made by a team of awesome coders.
CM goes way back with the first google phone. So allot of people know it.

THIS. The stock bluetooth stack in this phone is horrible. I can't get more than 10 feet from my phone without it disconnecting & I can't even turn my head without the audio cutting out.

I had an Eris before my current DInc2 and cm is crap for both. They have little to NO support for my phone and every time I run their ROM it fails as bad if not worse than the half assed alphas put there. Sure it has cool customization choices, but on my DInc2 it is worthless in my opinion until it is fully functional.
I (and you) should never settle for less than fully functional for something so "popular"
Sorry, usually my posts are much nicer than this. I just hate kool-aid.

The one good thing to come from CM7 is MIUI - which I'm quite looking forward to trying (although I probably go back to Sense)
Personally I am more of a fan of the CM7 based ROMs that come after. Each developer gets a chance to put there own unique touch to the cm7 based ROMs. I remember from the nexus one days after cm dropped the ROMS came flying in with everyone's personal touch. The CM7 code provides a rock solid base with all features working.

Are any of you working on...perhaps HTC sense 3.0 for the G2X? Is it even possible?
Try searching, this has been asked before.
The short answer is: No. If you want sense then get an HTC device that has it natively
Its actually possible. Its just up to a team of developers to spend countless hours and maybe even months to get it running. I had a Nexus S and it worked, but it was in the beta stages so it wasn't so smooth.

If and when I get a g2x I'll take a look
yes ! but we first need official 2.3
And now that we have a 2.3 release? Anyone working on this perhaps? Just asking. I love Sense but my G2x was free... Sensation 199 under contract. Don't have that at this time otherwise I would definitely have the Sensation. Not that there's anything wrong with the G2x it's a beast. I just really like Sense.
Why don't you just install MIUI? It's comparable to Sense... Except it's better optimized... Sense is a resource hog.
That's true. Sense is a bit if a hog on the system. Where can I find MIUI? I looked through the forums briefly and seems like its not official yet. I did manage to get HTC IME though. That was a huge factor for me. As I do ton of typing on this thing.
While yes, we do have 2.3, we don't have the source code for it. That's what's needed.
It's possible, but going to be very time consuming.
The version 1.8.5 on muiu.us is a pretty stable version. I'm running it currently and happy so far. It is a work in progress however.

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. It was ported to the Galaxy S using Cyanogenmod 7 as a base, lots of things broken though.
Yea it would be nice to have a rom w/ sense .....just to say haha! But Really...I have beautiful Widgets n its kind of like having a fake sense homescreen. Or at least port the best of sense to the g2x...would be lovely ...& no I don't want an HTC phone!

I bought my Hero 10/09 as a xmas gift to myself. Lol. It was my first touchscreen phone, and it was terrible. Lol. I had to root it and flash a ROM just to make it usable. Clearly, the dev community is not big on SUI, but I for one miss it. Terribly.
At this point, I've pretty much made up my mind. I'm just trying to decide if I want to sell my G2x or cancel my service with TMo altogether and wait for the HTC Ruby to drop, as I'm a pretty new subscriber. I might be waiting a while, though, cuz I never buy phones at launch. Too many bugs. So that's the only thing with that.
I had the hero too before I knew about rooting.
It was slow come to think of it.
But I really think this phone can handle sense. The g2x specs are up to par and it has handled anything (rom apk cam port etc..) pretty well.

Yeah, but you have to find a dev interested enough to want to port it over. So far, I haven't met a single one.
I've really been itching to get back to a 4.3 inch screen after sacrificing my EVO, and I'm finally starting to feel the age of my MT4G. Cannot wait to get into the new dual-core scene, and it looks like S-OFF is almost here! I found one unlocked and brand new for less than $450 (should come out to an even $200 after selling my MT4G), and I get to examine it in person before I commit to buy! Can't wait!
Nice! The big screen def. is alot better, I too came from the MT4G. I think you getting it at the right time, looks like s-off is just around the corner.
Oh yeah another myTouch user to the sensation. Welcome.
The first time you play with the phone, you're going to be amazed at the screen resolution. It took me 2 days to get used to it.

Battery lifes great if you tweak the settings and such and then if youre feeling brave you can try temp rooting it. Then disabling all the bloat and sense launcher. Other then that the screen is really nice! Coming from a htc hero the difference is staggering obviously

When's the last time you actually used it? I thought the same, too, until I actually started using Sense. Are you just saying that because it's the cool nerd thing to say or because that's how you actually feel after using Sense?
And Sense is not just a launcher or a skin. It does a bunch of great things CM doesn't just yet.
I bought my Sensation with the intent of just slapping CM7 on it but in a way, I'm glad S-OFF isn't here yet. I would have probably jumped right back into CM and LauncherPro and not given Sense a chance. I'll stick with Sense for now. It's pretty good.

why lot of people dont like sense? One of the reason i like android better than iphone is because of the sense widget. Other launchers do not have widgets like sense. and its funny that no one is making useful widgets like the ones by HTC in the market which is also surprising...

I used Sense on the Hero, EVO (until CM), the MT4G (just for a bit to see what Sense 3.0 looked like when it was released), and now I'm being forced to use it on the Sensation. I can confidently say that Sense ROMs absolutely suck compared to CyanogenMod, and I would never use one given the choice.
Please list the "great things" that I can do with Sense but not CM. So far I've only found the ability to drain my battery much more quickly.

Sense slows down your phone's performance and drains the battery much too quickly. List ANY widget that HTC makes, and I will give you an alternative for use with ADW or LP (which both blow the Sense launcher out of the water in terms of the ability to be customized).
What does cyanogen mod do that sense cant? Apart from giving you an incredibly laggy launcher from adw.

1. You can use ANY launcher with CM.
2. ADW's default settings make it laggy on some phones. Easily fixed by changing them yourself.
3. Here are just some of their advertised main features. Not including things like native tethering, native screenshots, full Bluetooth compatibility, and you can read the rest yourself.

My mom has a mytouch4g... holy hell, I want to kill it with fire. Beat it with a bat, and then put it in a blender. I seriously hate the Mytouch 4G. The sensation is a Bugatti, and the MT4G is a 94 Honda Civic with no v-tec and a super huge muffler that kills all its power..
The biggest thing I noticed on the negative side when I switched from the MT4G to the Sensation was the rounded back of the Sensation.
You can't just lay it on your desk or a table and type on it. It wobbles all over the place. You have to hold it. The MT4G has a flat back so you could pound on it and it wouldn't wobble. Made it really easy to type while it was sitting on the table.
However....the bigger screen is really nice. It's much more vibrant too.
The first day you'll feel like you're holding a tablet because of the size difference. But you get used to that pretty quick.
The only thing I miss from the change is the trackpad wake and dedicated camera button

i had a MT4G before, and compare to Sensation: honestly, i don't feel the sensation is much superior than the MT4G.Even with dual core processor, there is not much different in term of speed. Not like you move from a Camry to a Lamborghini.Instead, you move to an Avalon ^^. The only thing different is the screen size :4.3 inches vs 3.8 inches. And i also miss AOPS roms and MIUI roms alot. MT4G have a great roms collection than Sensation. Overall, Sensation is till a good phone, but you wouldn't expect to much in it.

Are you seriously telling somebody that there are no good custom roms for the sensation??? WTF??
I still have a MT4G and a Sensation, and will switch between the 2. The Sensation has a larger and better screen, 8 MB Camera w/ 1080p Camcorder, and a likely quicker path to ICS, all pluses.
The MT4G had great build quality, dedicated buttons including camera button and slightly better cell reception. I personally think the antennas built into the rear Sensation cover is a defective design; much prefer the MT4G design.
For many other things, like battery life, speed of use with or without Sense, lack of lag, built in memory, 4g speeds, browsing, etc., the devices are very similar if not about the same. Dual core in the Sensation is nice, but on both of my devices I only OC to about 1.2 ghz and they both (with the right GB rom) have the same smoothness and similar benchmarks. Sensation is just like a slightly newer brother to the MT4G IMO.
I miss...
Camera button.
Cm7-so much!
More responsive touch screen when typing.
That's about it.
You will like...
Better camera.
Better/larger/sharper images.
Ics roms.
OK gingerbread roms.honestly,I liked tdj's/royal knights sense 3.5 better than any on sensation, but they are good here too.
Better 3g4g connectivity its faster.
Is it worth upgrading too instead of sgs2? No.Not really.
However,my sgs2 is in the drawer,so,its a matter of preference.I'm just using this one to flash roms.
You will like the phone.but if you can return for sgs2 you will most likely enjoy that one more!

Love the phone! Had a iPhone a few weeks when my sensation was on service (dust inside the display, got a brand new display for free )
After using a laggy iphone, I realized how much i love the sensation.
It's a sensation... Easy as that.
Same here. My Sensation is 6 1/2 months old, it has no scratches and still looks and feels like on the first day. It's an awesome phone, but the ability to run CM9 makes it still more awesome
I am also running CM9 and got it clocked at 1ghz and hahaha even at this speed is super smooth.
I am really glad that we got CM9, it would be hard to get a phone that doesn't get CM9 support to be honest because these companies overlays are full of bloatware and drain battery super quickly.
The real problem with HTC phones is Sense. I got to have it at like 1.7 to be smooth but then the battery sucks really bad. Then if I clock down to about 1.2 which is when I notice a battery difference, it's all choppy and stuttery.
Just yesterday I played with an HTC One S and I don't really envy anything about it.
And I too feel the same way as a previous poster and that is that I don't feel the need to upgrade.
CM9 + Sensation= Fast, Smooth, Great battery life.

I'm actually getting the blaze today. On the mytouch I was just sticking with gingerbread cause jelly bean and even ics would have to many bugs or just not be quick and smooth enough to make the transition out of gingerbread worth it. I'm really hoping to at least find a smooth ics Rom on this phone with no bugs

If you want a stable cm10... well its right around the corner. Been testing 2 kernels for dr4stic, and both are rock solid. No sods NOTHING. Can't imagine it getting much better than this. You'll have a vast selection to choose from when you decide what's best for you. If you find something you like don't hesitate to hit thx or donate to any of these great devs. Let's keep this community strong by showing these devs how much their truly appreciated. Cheers to all

Well I rooted and flashed the tweaked ICS ROM and so far it doesn't seem like a huge improvement from the my touch 4g. Its a solid ROM just was expecting more from this phone being that its newer and on paper has a better processor

Coming from sense ROM, it'll take some time, dwithrell, don't worry.

Not knockin your work, your awesome. Just telling him what I prefer, please don't think I meant anything else by it. Apologies for not explaining.

No worries. ICS is no JB that's for sure, and truth be told ALL the awesome options available to the Blaze should be tried out! That's the great thing about having such options - you can start choosing based on preferences as opposed to basic functionality. I'm a smali hack at best - I would consider the other tinkerers for the Blaze to be far more qualified of a "developer" title than I really - so folks should really make sure to test the various waters as you never know what you might be missing!
Smali hacking isn't easy lol. I've learned a lot from you dwitherell

Theirs nothing wrong with the ROM. I just haven't seen anything so far that makes this phone noticeably better than the mytouch 4g which is what I switched from

Well single core to dual core, NFC, slightly larger screen, 4g 42mbps, larger capacity battery, and adreno 220 are things that I would consider better. At my dad's house near Minneapolis I can pull 20+mpbs on 4g...
But at the end of the day, you still are running android and that's not going to change much... and if you liked sense than you will likely not like TW. No guarantee that you also wouldn't like aosp either (my wife doesn't - she prefers sense). My wife has a sensation 4g and I see a major difference between her phone and my blaze. I prefer the blaze, because of those features listed (and access to the sd card without having to dissemble the phone to get to it) and I prefer TW (using TW5 launcher) to any sense rom. Sense just seems bloated to me and the Blaze just seems to be more responsive.
But hey, they're just phones and everyone is entitled to their own opinions and can like whatever they choose to like

I'm actually running CM7 on my Mytouch 4G. I agree with you on sense feeling bloated. As far as the screen size, when I put the phones next to each other you really can't notice an increase in size.
