It's fast already. What is the need to overclock??
ok so you mean to say we should not do anything to improve our device just because its ok ?
if you think its fast then have a look at other (costlier) devices then you will realize what's really fast.
overclocking would make a big difference .

Why do you need to overclock it. Expensive phones don't bring major difference. Micromax C2+ can play high-end games without lag, play 1080p vidoes using software decoder in MX Player or many other player... What else you want?
Still mad for overclocking? Try SetCPU it works.
still the scrolling is not smooth enough
on facebook app ,scrolling sucks
fone has minor frame drops sometimes, all this can be overcome by overclocking.
setcpu just allows to set cpu frequency to max , thats not overclocking, earlier i had a 1 ghz device and it was overclocked to 1.4 thats what you call overclocking
Sent from my Micromax A110Q using xda app-developers app
hum overclock kiye hai lekin kisi ko batayenge nahi
:/
last time my friend lost his note 2 by over clocking :/
smooth scrolling issues can be fixed by using custom roms including that feature
i have been using overclovked devices for years
nothing ever happened, there is a limit which should b kept in mind while doing all this, my streak is 3 years old, overclocked to 1.4 ghz never caused a problem
my galaxy s and s4 also overclocked for a long time, so i think overclocking to a certain range wont affect anything

But it reduces battery life and damages it.
yeah it may reduce battery life but i wont agree on damaging part

Mediatek Cips don't support over clocking. They have some limiter sort but it can be overlooked with hardware modifications!
Samsung phones uses Qualcomm chips which has overclocking functionality! If you use app or kereel to OC the CUP tries to get peak OC but won't and get heat ups quickly.

can anyone recommend "the best" overclocking app for x10?
not sure if it matters, but im running [Cyanogen6.1.3]gingerbread[v01]
X10 cannot be overclocked yet.

You can use setcpu but it wont overclock. We need custom kernel. So farr there's no custom kernel for x10.
But you can use setcpu to reduce the screenoff MHz. It might help to save more battery.

I wonder if it can underclock why it cant overclock whit Setcpu? ;o

because you need a custom kernel to increase the possible range of values... the underclocking value is already within the range of possible values

you can download and test it, but there is no fully working one out yet

... And as on any phone overclock thread, never forget our devices are NOT AT ALL intented to do overclock.
Carefully check our CPU's internals, because you will probably make your phone very hot, unstable, battery sucker and useless - it will self-stops because of overheat.
Or try in your fridge, in North Pole, or build a watercooling system.
Did I mention your phone won't be as mobile as before ?
Just kidding, but seriously guys, overclocking phones is useless today. Few years ago, it was nice (as we got very low frequency), but now we have very powerful devices... Don't expect to overclock as you do with Core i7 or Pentium IV...
Would it work if i would be on baseband .58 which is the newest?

the baseband is just the radio of the phone, it has NOTHING to do with overclocking...
the kernel is what controls that
hmmm no overclocking available till custom kernel can be booted man
Droid Overclock is an app I ran across on the Market today with all sorts of nice features.
It may have been out for awile, I just didnt see it.
It costs $1.50. Very Nice App
Looks like it does alot more then setcpu
Oh yeah, I bought this app when I had my d2. Wasn't sure if it supported the incredible though and I just use the built in overclocking in CM.
Its a sweet app though and jrummy did a nice job with the interface.

Makes your processor operate at a faster speed, speeding up your phone. It kills your battery faster though.

Actually (What effects screen brightness and OC CPU have on battery) speeding up your cpu doesn't effect that battery as much as you think its very minimal. So overclock all you want
Does it harm your phone in any way?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
This actually looks a lot better than SetCPU. I like it.
If you overclock too high, to a incompatible setting, the phone will just go into a loop mode. The setting won't be stable.. it errors itself and can't correct it. So you need to scale it back down. Sorry if I don't know all the terms and such.. dinc's are fast just to begin with. I oc'd so I could try and get better benchmark scores. It worked and the phone was stable to where i could use it all the time problem free. I managed to get scores I could be.. once that happened I stopped clocking up, and started scaling back. Undervolting the system with a different kernel / governer setting will yield you the best battery life..

I overclocked to 1.3 ghz by uc kernel.
I wanna ask that at 1.3 is it safe for daily use becoz its quite high.

No one will recommend to fix max 1.3Ghz. Cause it may over heat your phone due to it is over clock.
Ofcause, this shorten you phone life.

ur emmc chip may burn out..
stay in limits.. 1ghz is enough i suppose..
but yea occassionally 1.2 dats it..!

Better be on 1Ghz as default. And when multitasking or playing games, OVERCLOCK!! But 1.2 maxx..
And TI OMAP's are powerfull enough, can resist overclocking.
And moreover 1.2 is standart overclocking for our OMAP.

Be on one ghz...
Seriously didnt fell any diff........
its ma opinion..use custom kernal....
on demand..
nd make a profile....when screen gets off...set cpu max to 800 min to 300..nd same while charging..saves battery
Guys, try below combination
governor : lionheart
I/O scheduler : sio
you will fell it.
Can somebody interpret this to me? Ofcourse my galaxy tab plus is labeled "your device".. Thanks a lot!

Well, quadrant isn't very reliable and it uses so undemanding test it hits the fps limiter (60fps), so there's not really any point in looking those scores.
Although there doesn't seem to be any problem in that pic...
Sent from my GT-P6210
Is that so? Thanks for your reply mate.. well i was just curious about this quadrant thing and why not give it a try..
Sent from my GT-P6200 using XDA Premium HD app
Most speed test have no relationship to real world applications. Most or all will run a cpu speed check and if you have a quad core they rate it 4x or 2x for duo, but few if any applications are mult-threaded to take advantage of multiple cores so in the real world a single core 1.7 ghz beats a quad core 1.2 Ghz every time.
Its actually much cheaper for a vendor to make a quad 1.2 ghz than a single 1.7 ghz.
Nice information sir.. wel i was just curious albout the speed of my plus.. im using stock rom ics.. and im good with it.. i really love the touchwiz though some will object.. my problem with some launcher is that it does not allow me to use those widget that i use when im in stock launcher.. i would love to try those jelly bean rom but the fear of bricking my tab is always there.. im afraid of bricking it beacuse i use this tab as my phone and our internet connection at home..

All the CM10+ Roms have too many holes. If you want to try out some advanced launcher features you can install Holo, Apex or Nova and toggle between launchers when you want.

What you are asking is CPU Core Governance. It is possible only in Custom Kernels. Stock kernel is does not support CPU Governers and Overclocking which is added in custom kernel.
Even with any CPU governer apps you cannot enable that on Stock Kernel.
BTW stock kernel uses all 4 cores when required. Keeping remaining cores idle and using them when big application asks is common strantegy of stock kernel. It save battery also.
If any small app like file manager or gps can run superfact with one or two cores, then why 4 cores will be required?
Please dont mind but , your idea of using 4 cores for no reason is funny. lolz In fact I laughed a lot. Please dont mind.
PS: Its better ask questions in right place and be organized on XDA.
Hmmmm
Ok thanks for ur suggestions

Agree with Mahendra's response. The very reason hotplug feature was introduced in popular governors like OnDemand/Interactive was to make optimal use of processing cores. There's no reason why all cores should go online when there aren't enough demanding processes/threads.
