I just got my Nexus 5 a while ago and I just unlocked the bootloader and flashed TWRP and as soon as I opened TWRP it basically crashed and rebooted the phone is a boot loop but now when I go to TWRP the log says Unable to mount /data and I can't do anything. Does anyone have the solution? I knew I shouldn't have rooted -_-
Have you flashed a stock cache.img yet? Thats usually the first thing to try.

Uhh
Not yet right now I'm currently using Wug's Toolkit and seeing if that helps then i'll try that. Do you have the link by any chance?
OH thank GAWD its working again thanks for your help though
what did you do in the toolkit?
Generally the consensus here is to not use toolkits. There are 2-3 "Johnny Opposite" members, but the masses of senior members see them as a bad thing.
I explain what happend.
You opened bootloader, but you flashed twrp instead of start the phone to let stock recovery finish the formating. You flashed twrp and rebooted to twrp. Twrp found the commands in the memory or on the misc partition to do a factory reset then reboot, but that format command is not compatible with twrp, so that commamd was skipped and then twrp rebooted your, because that was the next command in the line. Now your started booting with an unformated cache and data partition. The easiest way to solve the issue is to do a format data in twrp to format data partition then a factory reset to format cache.
So In the toolkit I basically flashed the stock rom and it basically factory reset EVERYTHING so now its working again thanks for the help! Now to try this over again

Yeah so I forgot to reboot before flashing recovery and entering that so now that I crossed that bridge I don't have to worry Wooh thank goodness I thought I totally messed up
Just flashed "openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-falcon_STOCK_KK" in my lollipop.
Then made a nanodroid backup to my otg pendrive.
Then when i reboot i stuck in a bootloop
How to fix it.
Do i have to erase cache after flashing recovery????
I don't know if it is still the case, but I have had to use the following fastboot command before I could access TWRP again in this situation. The command will wipe internal storage entirely.
fastboot erase userdata

I had the same problem but I can't remember how I solved. I do remember that I deleted all the user data. I then tried to do another nandroid and again it ended up with a boot loop so I think it's a recovery bug. I wouldn't do nandroid backups via recovery until the bug is fixed. I think there is an app in the play store that can make backups without the recovery but I haven't tried it.

You need to format data partition not erase.
Don't remember how to do that.
I just flashed stock lollipop then flashed twrp.[didn't made backup this time,it's not working i think.waiting for update from dev]. Now twrp just works fine[with that screen flickering]

Your suggestion saved my day!
I flashed the entire firmware and it didn't worked for me. How can I fix that? I had to flash CM and then reinstall the backup I made.
Whats the fix for having everything working as before? Cause i'll need to flash stock again to be able to receive OTA updates.
Will "fastboot erase userdata" fix all these problems?
22/3 version is working fine with nandroids, today I did a backup and restored it succesfully :good: also flickering is gone

According to these people(not me) when you enter command fastboot erase userdata your phone should boot normally
I suggest you to flash Philz touch because backup restore are working fine there

No, Not erease cache, but "erase userdata".
Use the command "fastboot erase userdata" from command prompt, that's all.
After you do this, press power button to switch your Moto G off and press power button again to start it. Your phone should normally boot and will be fresh as arrived from factory
Hope this helps you.

why i should erase user data when i can flash full rom???
i don't want to lose userdata & those backed up file doesn't contain user data[opened in ubuntu, only system datas are backed up.no user data].
is there any way to pull user data using adb or something[i just want to know for future reference as i already flashed rom n phone is fine ]
Hello guys, i have Moto G 1st Gen. Indian version (XT1033) running android 5.0.2... Yesterday i rooted my moto g by unlocking bootloader and flashing TWRP 2.8.6.0-XT1032 & SuperSU 2.45... During the process there was some error (like general unlock failure, wipe partition failure etc). I ignored them and continued... It was booted normally... Then i installed Root Checker and confirmed that root has been done successfully....
After that i tried to make a Nandroid backup using TWRP. Message popped up saying that backup is successful.. Then i pressed reboot system. Then it went into bootloop (stuck at bootloader unlocked warning message). :crying:
When this happened, i thought to flash recovery again and flash stock rom. By the time i downloaded stock rom, the phone discharged completely. Now the phone is not charging I have tried using usb charging through pc and using socket charger, but it's stuck at 0%... (I have kept it for hours) Sometime it try to boot and bootloader unlocked warning appears and stuck there.. after sometime it again go into battery charging logo with 0% and then repeat the process again.. When i try using usb cable, the same cycle continues with frequent connecting and disconnecting... :crying:
What to do now ? I guess it's not possible to flash stock rom without any charge... How to charge my phone ? What other option(s) do i have ?
PS : Sorry if this has been already discussed.

You must not use TWRP from its official site
Those people have not fixed this ****ty bug and many people have got bootloops due to this including me
Use the one available in xda
Solution-
Try to boot the phone in bootloader mode
Whenever the device shows the moto logo immediately press and hold power button and as soon as the screen goes black immediately press and hold power + volume down bottom and it should boot into bootloader
Charge the phone through a USB in bootloader mode
And then either flash the stock firmware again or use custom ROMs

Okk, i was able to go into bootloader mode and charge through usb cable.. But, since then i am trying again & again to flash a rom to get my phone working but everytime something is going wrong.. First i tried to flash stock rom but it was frequently rebooting. So then i tried to flash Resurrection Remix : now it's stuck at RR logo screen for 2 hrs.. Don't know what am i doing wrong ... I am very much frustrated right now... I am now thinking to flash optimised stock rom... Some help from your side will be very helpfull :
1. Please tell me which recovery to use for peace of mind and please give me link for that.
2. I am thinking to use This stock rom to flash. ( I am facing problem with untouched version) Please tell me the exact procedure . Flash recovery > Wipe cache, dalvik, system, data in recovery > Flash rom and then do i need to flash the radio version ? And if i want to root, can i flash SuperSU after that ?
Please Note : I know that what i am asking can be found after a little bit of searching. But i have wasted 4 days and still remaining at the the same spot. Your 15 minutes time can save my another 4 days and put away my frustration i am facing right now. I am asking this because i have gone into such a state that i am thinking of throwing my phone and sleeep right away.. Please do me a favor.

You MUST use the stock version 2.8.6.0 ( do not use the gpe version)
Do not use 2.8.6.0.1 ( it still has bugs)
Flash the recovery through fastboot
Then one by one wipe the following and tell me if any error occurs
System
Data
Cache
Dalvik cache
You must report back the error that comes in recovery logs when you wipe these partitions

It appears that all your partitions are corrupted
You need to format them
In TWRP format ( not wipe) all partitions
The option to format data partition is straight forward and given in wipe menu
For other partitions (system ,cache) go to wipe---> advanced wipe and change the file system of system and cache partition to ext4 ( don't change to anything else)
This will format them
Try this and then try to do normal wipes and see if you are successful and report back

The link you posted is not pure stock
Its optimised means it is a custom version of stock ROM
The same dev ( @lost101 ) also provides pure versions of stock rom flashable through recovery so try that if you want a pure Motorola ROM
But I suggest you to use CM 12.1 now, as its based on android 5.1.1 its always better then stock 5.0.2 in terms of stability plus you get plenty of customization options and there's already a built in root manager
And the ROM is getting better day by day
So finally its your choice
PS:- No need to flash radio

As a general info, just don't play with fastboot commands and now don't try to flash stock firmware through fastboot again as it most likely will mess with your partitions
And for trying different ROMs you need a backed up system and data partition with a fully working recovery, then experiment with whatever ROM you want there is no harm ( if the ROM don't boot you can force reboot and restore the backup you made)
Link to CM 12.1 nightlies
https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=falcon
And just so you know cm is fully stable, I have been using it for three months and I never looked back at stock ones
So flash the latest nightly

Manually flash each partition again, including userdata.img partition. After flashing the last partition, boot directly to recovery using the power and volume keys (don't reboot the phone at all after flashing the last partition), perform a factory wipe, and reboot.
Ok but i need ti know if is possible to check the health device status
What do you mean by health? You mean each component?
I mean if is possible that something hardware is defective or going to be defective.
can I run some tests?
I know of no tests that are available to the public.
Ok

I have a similar problem with my N5, it was originally a power-button issue, and after some "whacking" the phone no longer "repeatedly reset" but now it just sits on the "Google" boot screen forever. Probably something got messed up during all the unintended reboots. I already went into recovery and did a factory reset, no luck. Tried flashing to older ROMs, no luck. Started hitting up forums, saw this post, tried your suggestion (flash each partition manually, did a "fastboot reboot-bootloader", enter recovery, wipe, and reboot), and still no luck.
I can get into fastboot/recovery, and even tried loading custom ROMs (CM13 to be exact). No matter what I tried, the phone will power-up, and stuck at the "Google" screen. Note that I've always waited at least an hour after flashing each version before I reboot from the "Google" screen.
I've read somewhere there is a "persist(?)" partition which will throw some error if corrupted, but it will require USB debugging enabled to fix. Unfortunately, I can't boot into any ROM to enable USB debugging...
Am I SOL or is there anything else I can try?
Thanks,
Wallace

Are you getting any errors when performing a factory wipe? Does the factory wipe happen very quickly? You flashed the userdata.img partition too?

First time I did a wipe it took over an hour, then the phone rebooted to the dead android screen. So I tried to wipe again, and it seems like all subsequent wipe took anywhere between 3-5 minutes. No error on each wipe (can't say on the first one, since by the time I got back to the phone it has already rebooted). And yes, I did flashed everything - boot, cache, recovery, system, userdata, bootloader, radio - not exactly in that sequence, but all of those partitions are flashed with the image that comes with the Google download package. Then factory reset and reboot.
Thanks,
Wallace
Maybe try erasing cache and data using fastboot commands? If this doesn't work, it's possible that there is a hardware problem with the phone's internal memory.

Did a "fastboot format cache" and "fastboot format userdata", no error. Still won't boot... are those the commands you are referring to?
Yup, or fastboot erase cache or fastboot erase data.
Sounds like the emmc may be messed up.

Tried all those, and yes same result... also, I flashed a different recovery (TWRP) and thereafter I can't even flash new ROMs anymore. ADB Sideload error our (forgot to write down the error message), and if I copy the file to internal storage and flash from there, TWRP will get stuck for hours.
How common are eMMC corruptions?
W.
The emmc problem is not that common, but it does happen. I'm not sure if it is partition or software corruption or a physical defect.
Other xda members have encountered emmc problems too that could only be fixed through a motherboard swap.
I am running into a situation emmc. the problem is I tried below action so far
1. Attempted to flash recovery partition which failed immediately after first reboot . it never got flashed correctly
2. Attempted to format all the partitions but I could format boot partition I could format no other partition it clearly says that can't mount
3. Then I tried to boot using fastboot command into recovery partition my command is
Fastboot boot recovery.img
I tried cwm I tried TWRP . only 2.6 dot x x worked in twrp. Cwm was not so helpful because it does not give me many features likewise TWRP
Once I boot in the recovery it asks for password if I click cancel it shows me all the interfaces but nothing works I don't have any local storage available it clearly fails to read it and everything shows is encrypted I don't know not sure what is going on there
When I attempt to format I get a error message as no partition available for this operation. No file system available
About phone but I think I am still searching for options but so far I could see that this is e MMC issue and there is no partitions available on this memory I am not able to format this internal memory I am new to the Linux environment and not sure what to do to format this internal emmc...
Can someone suggest any options to format and Re partition the emmc?

The constant boot looping could be a power button problem?

Hi XDA Developers.
I am using Swipe Elite Plus 4G.
Before 2 Days I connected to wifi and the no apps in mobile were opening.
I Restarted the mobile but it stuck on Boot Screen. I Flashed it using QFIL Tool. After Flashing Successfully when i Re-stared the phone it got stucked on Encryption Unsuccessful Error and if I a clicking on Reset Now button it seems to do nothing.
I tried Wipe Cache and Factory Reset from Recovery Mode But Same Error Occured. I even tried re flashing the Mobile using Other Flashing File But the Error is not resolved.
also When I Am opening Recovery Mode
Falied To Mount /cache error is showing.
If anyone has came out with any solution in this regards, Please share.
Also, i have one another same model handset, Please advice if any read & Write tool for firmware installation is available (If this resolves the issue).
Developers Please Help In This Regards...
Hi !
It is impossible for anyone to write any tool for a device that one doesn`t own
If you`re able to boot int recovery , is there any option to format data ? Format not delete or erase
Cheers

Yes I Tries Format Data In Recovery Mode But Still Same Error. I Tries Wipe Cache After That Also Failed To Mount /cache error is showing. I am only able to access apply updates from ADB & apply Updates from SD Card Options
Go back to the thread where you have downloaded the recovery and be sure that it is for your device variant, flash it again and do format data again
