Data Partition Corrupted

I just got my Nexus 5 a while ago and I just unlocked the bootloader and flashed TWRP and as soon as I opened TWRP it basically crashed and rebooted the phone is a boot loop but now when I go to TWRP the log says Unable to mount /data and I can't do anything. Does anyone have the solution? I knew I shouldn't have rooted -_-

Have you flashed a stock cache.img yet? Thats usually the first thing to try.

Not yet right now I'm currently using Wug's Toolkit and seeing if that helps then i'll try that. Do you have the link by any chance?

Generally the consensus here is to not use toolkits. There are 2-3 "Johnny Opposite" members, but the masses of senior members see them as a bad thing.

I explain what happend.
You opened bootloader, but you flashed twrp instead of start the phone to let stock recovery finish the formating. You flashed twrp and rebooted to twrp. Twrp found the commands in the memory or on the misc partition to do a factory reset then reboot, but that format command is not compatible with twrp, so that commamd was skipped and then twrp rebooted your, because that was the next command in the line. Now your started booting with an unformated cache and data partition. The easiest way to solve the issue is to do a format data in twrp to format data partition then a factory reset to format cache.

So In the toolkit I basically flashed the stock rom and it basically factory reset EVERYTHING so now its working again thanks for the help! Now to try this over again

Yeah so I forgot to reboot before flashing recovery and entering that so now that I crossed that bridge I don't have to worry Wooh thank goodness I thought I totally messed up

Better recovery than twrp?

I have recently been having problems with TWRP, when I factory reset to install a new rom it rests just fine then when I go to install the new rom the phone reboots and when it has restarted it hasn't actually wiped anything. Is there a better option for a recovery everyone would recommend?

Did you flash the recovery in the twrp app? Reason I asked is cause the app wanted to flash mine to the wrong partition.

I did it through fastboot

Use fastboot erase and fastboot format <partition>

I'm not real familiar with using fastboot, when I put this recovery on and unlocked the phone was the first time I ever used it. So how would I go about doing that and what does it do

TWRP works just fine here. Which version do you have installed? Sure you flashed TWRP for the M8???
And what do you mean with "hasn't wiped anything"?
You do a factory wipe (default under Wipe menu) and when you boot your apps are still there, you don't have to go through setup?
After performing a factory wipe, go to Advanced and save the recovery log. Post it here.

Yeah it doesn't wipe anything the phone restarts and all my apps and their data is still intact. I just finished recovering from a bad situation. I flashed philz touch recovery using flashify and when I went to the recovey to do a backup the screen went black and booted staight into the hboot screen, every time I tried to reboot the phone it would send me to the hboot screen. I finally got twrp back by fasboot from my computer it was the newest twrp I got to flash I believe 2.7.1.0 I tried to restore a backup but all it would was restore the system and stop when it got to system data. I even tried flashing a new rom and that failed also. I then installed the other twrp 2.7.0.2 because I read most people are still ueing it because of problems with theother one. The phone still wouldn't boot or flash a rom but I got the restore to work by choosing not to restore data after rebooting two or three times the phone finally rebooted and all my apps and their data were still the even though I tried to install and new rom three or four times. Im a little worried now about trying to flash anything now. Im not new to android but my last phone was rock solid and I never had to deal with this many head aches. Thanks for any insite you can offer and sorry for such a long post

I tried a reset again (which didn't work) then I tried for a log and the phone just reboots the second I touch the slider to make a log
ok I can get a log if I dont do anything else so I have a log before the attempt to factory reset but I can't get one after I try to reset. Will that do any good

RUU back to stock using the thread in the development forum. At the end of following the RUU instructions it gives you the option you flash a recovery. Select yes and flash twrp

How to flash system image without wiping internal storage/userdfata

What's the process to flash the 33R system image without me losing the internal storage data? I have run in to some unfixable issue with the OPO and hence am considering flashing the factory image as the last option.
The only concern is the data on the internal storage which is important for me. As I am unable to boot to the desktop nor use the MTP mode from TWRP, I cannot transfer/back up the content.
I've tried flashing Mahdi/33R/38R zips after wiping system/dalvik/cache/data with no luck. The phone keeps rebooting and is in a loop. Tried fixing permissions from recovery with no luck. I have no idea what am missing here...
I'd appreciate if anyone can provide me with steps to flash system image (without losing the internal storage data) instructions or resolve the other bootloop issue.

All you do is TWRP -> Wipe -> Swipe -> Flash ROM (and others... only flash ROM for now and it'll boot, maybe one of the mods or whatever ur flashing causes ur phone to boot loop)-> Reboot.
And then your phone will stop boot looping

Thank you. I have done all that to be frank. I flashed only the Mahdi ROM zip first and then booted. No luck. It kept bootlooping. Then tried the same with 33R zip too. No luck again. I have no mods running whatsoever.
I've done a complete wipe too as apps and app data isn't something I care for currently. It's the internal storage.

Use fastboot, grab the latest stock images
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
This won't erase internal SD, all will be intact so long as your prior issue didn't corrupt it in anyway

Have you tried restoring a nandroid?

Yup, did that too. Restored a couple of nandroids with no luck

Thanks. Yup, used to do that with Nexus 5 and other nexus devices. But the factory image for OPO has other files too. Do I not need to flash them too somehow?

I think those are boot.img and tour radio firmware. I don't think you have tot flash those. But I'm also new to this...

Wiped everything (internal memory too) and flashed the factory image clean and now I have the "Unfortunately, AudioFX has stopped working" error. The phone is unusable literally.

after whiping data, phone is stuck and twrp does nothing

Hey guys,
I have a oneplus 6red rooted with magisk and twrp running oreo 5.1.11, today I decided to enter twrp and reset my phone by whiping dalvic, cache and data.
After reboot, phone screen is totall dark but the light indicator was flashing constantly, entering twrp is no succes, twrp screen is stuck like more then 10 mins. I believe that I cant enter twrp to do something about it. I have downloaded the stock 5.1.11 which is an oreo version
Did I do really something wrong ? if yes or no please let me know how to fix this.

Try bluespark TWRP and flash your OOS zip again and report back. Maybe a magisk flash will help too.

thnx, I entered into fastboot mode, then from my pc I when into the fastboot folder to open cmd and boot twrp from there on my device, from there I followed a tutorial how to adb sideload and flash a rom from your pc. Now its working
But I dont understand why a simpel factory whipe through twrp caused all of this, I only wiped dalvic, cache and data.

This may be a side effect of A/B partitioning and no longer having a recovery partition. Remember TWRP is a part of the boot partition now

Use a fastboot rom. That will wipe EVERYTHING - and guarantee that you have a usable phone afterwards

i am almost sure that it was data and dalvic cahce and not system, that is what i also explained in my first post.
But how are you sure that it was system wipe ? did you factory reset your op6 multiple times without issue through twrp ?
phone is fixed btw

Its the easy answer, say that you wiped system or such.
If you wiped Data with Magisk installed, without flashing the stock kernel, you won't be able to boot, since Magisk stores stuff necessary to boot on Data.
Usually, people is stuck on a infinite bucle on TWRP after this, you couldn't even enter TWRP? that's new. The issue you're telling sounds like you changed slot in TWRP somehow to an unused one or something like that, never heard of that.

Yeah I have wiped data in twrp with no issues. TBH it just sounds like there was no system to boot into. Wiping data is just that and shouldn't make the phone unbootable. Also you fixed the issue by flashing OOS which makes me believe this also. If you want to factory reset your phone the best way is to do it through settings.

my twrp didnt see my internal storage, so i tried to flash the rom using my sdcard (i didnt know recovery images are that important) and when i rebooted my phone it was stuck in recovery bootloop and i dont know what to do, please help
