I try to install a custom rom but it says failed signature verifcation like the one in this picture
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194448
How do I get passed this to install my rom?
That's from the stock recovery. You'll need to flash a custom recovery that has cwm in it. Which phone model do you have? Don't use rom manager on the sgs4g.
That isn't an unlocked recovery. You need to read the sticky threads on how to flash the phone.

I'm superoneclick stupid; I've never used it. Does it install CWM? If not, you'll need to install CWM. One of the ways is through Krylon360's post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1099374
Or installing a ROM/kernel that has CWM.
ROM Manager does not work for the SGS4G. In order to get a working CWM Recovery Menu you will need to ODIN a custom kernel with CWM already installed. If you want to stay on froyo you will need drhonk's Bali v3.3 kernel, and if you want to update to gingerbread you can follow FB's GB Starter Pack guide. All of these can be found in the android development section.
I also suggest you read this (among other things) before proceeding:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310270
Also get prepared to be flamed. Sorry.
Thanks but can i flash a costum kernel on the stock rom? i had other devices before this one, and i never got this kind of problems, thats why im asking.
Flash one of honks kernels via Odin.

Sorry buddy it's not like the LG optimus for example.. you have to use Odin. Only way to go! Read the Bible in the stickies and Odin stock. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1117554 That's gonna be a link to the bible
I think i just got it, thanks guys!
Is it so hard to read?
I'm sorry for the dump noob question, but how to get back to 2.3.6 (stock, without root) from ICS?
I tried install from recovery with update.zip but without light on the screen i can only see that it says that installation is aborted.
Use fastboot to flash custom recovery. And then flash the full stock 2.3.6 and await the OTA.
please how can i do that?i mean the fastboot...i cant find something hours now.thanks
You can now flash a custom recovery without using fastboot, take a look at the thread linked below, read it carefully, make shure you flash Clockwork 5.0.2.3, also make shure you use the correct FULL rom for your device.
Flashable Clockwork Mod Recovery
ALL Nexus S OTA Updates for ALL Variants, Plus Full ROM Packages
Yes thanks, i figure it out, you need to download SDK manager, and load clockwork mode recovery, then grab 2.3.6 update and recover it.
Thanks, mark as solved
Some say even if screen light is too dim in the stock recovery try to do it in the sun and it will show up lol

the first step doesn't work on 4.0.3: verification failed...
Hi guys,
I followed some steps on xda and I rooted my Samsung S2. The program superuser is running on it and I installed Rom manager.
My cellphone runs the following kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKL1-CL809037
When I reboot my cellphone in recovery mode, then it gives an error when I want to install a rom from SD card:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
I don't know what to do or how to fix this. I give a 5$ paypal reward to the one that can help me.
Greetings!
This might help you further:
When I go into recovery it sais something about "3e recovery" and that seems to be wrong...
Any idea's?

You'll need CWM recovery to flash custom roms.
AFAIK you are able to flash it through rom manager or with Odin. With Odin, just find proper custom kernel with CWM recovery. For rom manager, I can't really help, because I'm using SGS which aren't supported in rom manager.

Kurre is correct. Do not use Rom manager to flash a custom recovery to the Galaxy S2. I tried it once on a test build of ICS and was able to boot into CWM once but the next time I tried it booted into the phones stock recovery. It won't always stick. I believe the recovery you are looking at is the phones stock recovery and you cannot flash an unsigned Rom with it. That's why you are getting the error.
Thanks for the responses.
So what should I do exactly? Do I need to change my kernel or should "re-root" my phone again?
Total noob here .
Thx in advance!
What Rom are you running? Unless you flashed a bare Rom only, most of them are packaged up with a kernel and a custom recovery. The short answer is yes, you need a kernel with a CWM based recovery. You'll have to flash it with Odin and make sure you get a version that works with your Rom
Maybe I'm confused and not helping you. What is a Samsung S2? I thought you were talking about a Galaxy S2.

As I said, flash custom kernel with CWM support with Odin. For example this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263838 has Odin package (tar). I'm still assuming you are using Samsung Galaxy S2 (gt-i9100)??
But before you flash anything with Odin, I'd suggest reading flashing tutorials..at least couple of times. So you'll know what you are doing and what to do if something goes wrong.

Indeed, it is a Samsung Galaxy S2, sorry for the misunderstanding.
i''l try your tips Kurre, i'll let you know something!
I have the stock recovery on my phone now running ICS while waiting for a new kernel to be released. It says 3e at the top like yours so that is definitely your stock Samsung recovery. You can't flash a new rom with that. Good luck and keeps us posted if you get it worked out. Search for Qbking77 on you tube. He has a video on how to flash with Odin. It's so easy even a caveman can do it.

Hello folks I have the US Verizon version of the Galaxy S III and when I try to install a rom from either Rom Toolbox or Rom Mananger I get sent to the recovery screen. Once I navigate to the selected rom I set a Signature Verification error and the little Android fella drops. What can I do to fix this. Not all roms act this way but this Miui rom doesn't seem to install. As a matter of fact, any rom I install via the recovery acts this way.
Please help. Thank you.
What recovery are you using? Instead of Rom manager use ez recovery and flash either cwm or TWRP and then flash the rom. Check the md5 of the rom to make sure it matches. I also think there is a setting in a custom recovery for signature verification

You cant flash roms from stock recovery...you need cwm or twrp recovery.
Being that I'm a newbie with this particular phone, I need help in terms of the method you guys are suggesting. I either use Rom Manager or Rom toolbox for flashing but was only successful with Rom Manager for at least two roms but were unstable. Please get back to me on steps on how to get around the Signature Verification where the little Android falls with a red error message.
Thanks.
Thank you for all the advice. I just installed Goo Manager which works with TWRP. I hope it works. I'll update as soon as possible.
Hi!
I've rooted my Samsung Galaxy S 4G, and now want to flash it with CM10
This is the guide I've been following but I've never succeeded:
w w w . android. gs /update-galaxy-s-4g-cm10-android-4-1-jelly-bean/
Every time I go into CWM and chose the zip file, it says that it can't mount my SD card.
I've wiped the cache and deleted all user data (factory reset), though it still won;t flash.
I've used programs like Android Commander, and it still won't flash.
Will someone please explain to me why I can't flash the rom?
Welcome to the forum,
You need recent CWM (the blue one) to be able to flash mtd roms.
You have two choices:
1) Flash using heimdall one-click (found in the stickies section) then CM10 using CWM. <=- (you do need to follow the instructions carefully)
2) Download Samsung Galaxy Kernel Flasher from play store, and download AntonX kernel (Search the forums), then flash CM10.
Edit:
I checked the link you provided, I would say please DO NOT flash any ROM from unknown sources. In quick glance they provide false
information. Specifically you cannot return to STOCK with CWM once you are using MTD rom (you need heimdall or Odin).
Please read before you flash anything.
PS: despite flashing using CWM is somewhat safe for this device (SGS4G), but don't take this safety for granted for other devices,
ALWAYS be careful, and learn from other people mistakes (I recently hard bricked S2 Hercules by flashing wrong kernel using CWM).

How would I get the new (blue one) CWM?
And what could I do about my sd card mounting in CWM?
Thanks again though for the advice, it had too many bugs!
