My note 3 screen won't auto rotate even if I turn the auto rotate on. Then if I check the sensors status by using app like phone test, I can see all sensors not working. But after a reboot, everything works fine. But after about 1 hour to couple of hours, it fails again (all sensors not working). I am so confused because I thought it's a hardware problem but reset does solve the problem but not for long.
My phone is KNOX tripped so I took it to Samsung service centre in London and they refused to repair it. The thing is they didn't even let me know they wouldn't repair it until I came after couple of days to them to ask how was going on with my phone after I gave them to check several days ago. I am really disappointed with their service.
I have manually flashed latest stock ROM but the problem still exists.
Anything I can do?

That's weird, if it's hardware I don't get why it works for an hour.
You might have to tell them to do a paid repair in this case - as reflashing doesn't fix it.

Yeah that's why I am so confused. It happened since I manually flashed a rom (kitkat) in February. Don't remember the version. I though my phone wouldn't be updated via OTA because mine is rooted. But then couple of days ago when i saw UK just got update via OTA on 11 March then I flashed with that room but still no good.
Have you tried dialing *#0*# ?
Then tap on sensors. Maybe you'll get some additional information that helps to determine your exact problem...
Good luck!

I don't understand why samsung in some country it's look like they don't care of the tripped knox if it's hardware problem. Here my seller tell me sometime it's ok, sometime not so it's better to loose the phone since they offer an insurance replacement then trying to get it repair
If phone was rooted and now has a HW problem in Service Centre cant help you because of KNOX.
You have to find simple Repair service, where they dot care about KNOX, then they can easyly to fix by replacing IC-SENSOR

Too bad to hear that. Now I can confirm it's barometer not working because after a reset, every other sensors are working except barometer. But after a while (half hour to couple of hours), all sensors become not working. I am not sure if it's the barometer causing the problem. I called Samsung customer service last Friday and they said they were going to send me a prepaid envelop so that I can post my phone to them to repair. Still waiting for the envelop.
If they refuse it again, slap them with EU Directive 1999/44/EC. (Last I checked, London was part of the EU.) http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-cont...CRr1xWc3zx8PW!1364417607?uri=CELEX:31999L0044
They are not allowed to refuse a warranty claim unless they can, with clear evidence, proof that your modification to the system caused the defect.
They repaired.
Just an update. This finally got sorted by Samsung service centre. Sent to them last Tuesday and they sent me back today. I am still testing, seems all working. They didn't ask me about rooting or tripped knox. The phone is still knox tripped but anyway they repaired the hardware. They didn't mention what repair they have done.

I got the 4.3 OTA update on 12.26.13, and was obviously excited. Sadly, whenever I remove the device from a charger and turn the screen off (not exactly a rare combination), the device will vibrate twice and reboot.
Things I've tried:
- Swapping out the battery
- Rebooting into safe mode
- Wiping Dalvik cache
- Factory data reset
- Factory data reset again
I spoke to Verizon, and they were of no use. They transferred me to Samsung, who said that my device is out of warranty, therefore I would have to pay for a repair. Really? From a software update while sitting on the nightstand? My argument fell on deaf ears.
I've already told them to eff off, and if I'm going to have to pay out of pocket to buy a new phone, I'm getting a N5 and going to ATT. Well, that's present tense now. Anyway, I'd love to fix the device to have it as a spare wifi device while traveling or to sell. Thoughts?
Plug it into the PC and run the installer that pops up. It will reload the 4.3 update and repair any issues.

Hi Chatham7, were you rooted or 100% stock before taking the update? Did you have a custom rom or recovery before the update?

Thanks, guys. I was able to re-install the update after some massaging of drivers and various other annoying hardware tweaks. However, it hasn't resolved the issue. My initial thought was that it was a hardware issue, but a hardware issue the very second after getting the 4.3 update? Just too coincidental for me.

Agreed, sorry I wasn't being clear. I meant that it couldn't be a device issue caused by me (as Samsung and Verizon are implying), but rather a hardware compatibility with the new update. Their knee-jerk solution to everything is to use warranty and insurance. I'm not buying insurance to protect myself against them sending me software updates that will ruin my device. That's like paying protection money to the mob so that you don't get robbed.
Hopefully someone can help me with this.
I am having an issue with my phone where the top left corner does not want to respond unless I restart the phone. This happens a completely random times and I am unable to pinpoint it. It all started the other day when the update came out. I have format my phone I have used Samsung smart switch to reinstall the OS and issue keeps coming back. I'm also having the same issue towards the bottom where are Google now application launcher is located. If you are using TouchWiz it is in the middle of the message app when I press the area it doesn't do anything unless I press to the right of it. I have turned on developer tools and selected show touches. I can see the touches and everything looks like it should work but the OS doesn't do anything. Once I reboot everything goes back to normal. When this happens I am unable to hit back on applications such as Gmail and I have to use a physical button to go back.
Phone is completely stock and had not been rooted.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks for your help

This has also happened to me and I'm on a custom rom. Mind you, my screen was replaced not long ago because of stuck pixels, and I thought this could be problem with the new screen. Not sure what is happening, though.

I'm actually currently having this same exact problem. The thing that confused me was that it's the top left corner, no matter your screen orientation. Meaning it MUST be something OS related. But now I'm hearing Samsung Pay is the culprit? It's never caused this before until today...

Well, wasn't Samsung Pay. I had both disabled and the issue came up today. I tried to figure out which app it was but I couldn't figure it out. I went to my recent apps and forced closed each one but the left corner was still messed up. I couldn't get it back until I restarted.

It's an irritating problem, for sure, but not enough to go through all that. I'm just gonna wait it out for that Marshmallow update in January.

I had the same issue. I called tmobile and they were useless. Phone is stock and not rooted. Mine would happen and id reset the phone, it would be good for a few hours and then happened again. At first I thought it may be my case touching a part of the screen since the phone has such thin bezels. It wasn't the problem. I decided to do a factory reset and I've been good for 5 days now. I used Samsung pay before the reset and still use it now.

Yeah, they were useless for me too. I'm chatting with Samsung support via FB but they don't have any idea either. I've tried everything as well. I'm really out of options at this point. Sometimes when I clear everything from recent apps it starts working again but when I clear the same apps via force quit it doesn't work. I cant' figure out which app is causing it.
Samsung support is having me run my phone in safe mode for a few hours to see if the issues comes back. They're trying to see if it's a built in app or third party one.
Hello,
3 days ago I dropped my phone, it survived thanks to the official rubbery case, it just rebooted by itself and nothing more, not event a scratch.
Yesterday, I've noticed Google Maps having a hard time to locate me, I tried several things, reboot, another gps app, even the app GPS Test but I can't get a single GPS signal, I think my gps may have died from the drop but I'm still unsure.
I'd like to test it through the hardware test you can usually access with the emui secret code but I can't find a working one on EMUI 5, is there any secret code for hardware test in EMUI 5 ? What can I try ?
Thanks

Similar problem but without dropping the phone...
After about two months of owning the phone I just realized that the GPS doesn´t work at all.
It went unnoticed because I always use wifi+mobile data option that is sufficient to locate me in Google maps. Only when I needed real navigation I realized there is a problem.
It certainly is not caused by mechanical damage because the phone is masked from the day 1 and had never been dropped.
I did a factory reset with no success (i am on emui5, b360). Applications for testing GPS signal can not locate any satellite, let alone get a fix on. It looks as if the GPS is completely dead.
Has anyone had a similar problem?
Or some advice what to do before I take it to service center...

Mine is FRD-L09.
I cant really tell whether the problem appeared with upgrading to EMUI5 because I upgraded the same day I bought it (and never used GPS-only location service anyway).
If you try downgrading to MM and it solves the problem, please report back.
Just to let you know, after a factory reset the GPS was still dead.
I have sent it to the service center, I don't know what they did to the phone but the GPS is working again.

You broke your LED. Use a google search. Plenty of threads on XDA.
Third party LED apps seem to be causing issues, the app itself even has a disclaimer on the playstore.
You will need an LED module replacement, if not rooted it's free.

Don't worry about it, you may be able to arrange an exchange and claim a defective LED as long as the phone is under warranty (knox 0x0).
Or a repair that shouldn't take long at all.
If rooted, repair costs 50$ here.

Hey Everybody,
Good news!
I've had the same issue as well after using light flow and Samsung suggested returning the phone for repairs. Even debug mode showed the led wasn't working. I couldn't really bother though coz I know how long those repairs take. So I just left it at that. Today I received a Samsung update with the June security patch and guess what like magic the phone restarted and the blue light turned on while updating. I don't think Light flow or others kill the led but they did screw something up. Never installing those again. I have it on my Pixel XL and I'll leave that for it. So good luck folks.
It may not be a physical problem with the phone. Some people sent theirs in for repair and the came back and stopped working again. After an update a lot of people who hadn't sent the phone in for repair reported that the LED was working again. It might be a physical problem, but more likely software.

Hi, today I was able to contact customer service and able to apply RMA. Thank you
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
It seems a lot of users have experienced it so far: https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/4244999?hl=en
Anyhow, mine can focus well enough photo mode, but video recording is just crap because of the shaking image, and the camera produces a clicking noise while trying to keep focus.
Issue has been around since the May update, as people say in the comments there.
May Security Patch: "Fixed 2 second video stuttering at the beginning of recording"
June Security Patch: "Fixes an issue causing the camera to crash during video recording"
+ Google Camera update in May.
So they have certainly made some changes in the camera, but the software origin is not confirmed .
My phone does this now too - it sucks.
Google wont RMA because I have an unrelated scratch on my screen - they say that my phone would be available for warranty if i first get the screen repaired at the cost of £250.
Can a company really deny warranty due to unrelated aesthetic damage alone? It doesn't seem fair.
Has anyone had any joy fixing the problem by replacing the camera module? Its only £15 (and about 2 hours work!)

Why do they know you have a scratch?
Same problem here, not so much the autofocus but the camera making clicking sounds and the image jittering... Am gonna see what the store says...
Update: went to the store and found oit that i have to unroot and lock the bootloader again in order to send it in, because they can refuse to replace it if somebody tampered with the the system files.
Does anybody know how to do that? Mine is unrooted, but the bootloader is still unlocked...
Update: No chance for a replacement or repair, because I have a cracked screen. It's not Google but the service partner of the shop I bought it from, who refuses to fix it. The guy told me to not send it in, since I would only end up having to pay to get my phone back.
That's really frustrating. Has anyone tried downgrading to before the May update?

Rubbish isn't it - weird that they say if the screen was fixed then they would fix the camera - why not just replace the camera and leave the screen as it it?

Because they can...
Also talked to Google Support. They either fix both the screen and the camera, or nothing at all. So if I wanted to claim my warranty, I would have to pay for a display-replacement first. And, I would have to cross the border from Switzerland to Germany to even send the phone in
This is really frustrating.
My goal is to try and fix the problem on my own by replacing the camera module, once I'll replace the display and battery (maybe in 1-2 years). Until then I'm stuck with a phone that's basically useless for video shooting (my workaround is to lock the Autofocus, before I start filming).
I've been running the Jan 2019 build of Bootleggers ROM until two weeks ago and did not do any update in that time (except updates from the Play Store). The problem occured for me anyway a few months ago. It could be related to an update of the camera app but I guess it is a hardware problem. After upgrading to a recent custom ROM the problem persists. Google should acknowledge the problem and repair faulty units regardless cracked screens or any unrelated damage.
I had a similar problem with my Pixel 3's camera recently. My camera's focus wouldn't work anymore at all. I sent it in for repair and got a new device.
Had the same issue with my Pixel 3 a few weeks ago, running on DirtyUnicorn Rom.
I cracked my display due to some bad handling and decided to repair it by myself.
During the display repair i also replaced the main camera module by a new one (from a online auction platform).
And now camera works fine without focus being stuttering.
Only thing was that i also upgraded to Havoc ROM (Android 10) at straight after the hardware repair, so theoreticalli it could also be a software issue but i'm quite sure that the camera module had a defect.

Thank you Makavelli!
I did the same thing and it solved my problem. Camera modules are about 15$ and the process is not very hard, once you've succeeded opening the phone. It just takes some time and the right tools
Here's a step by step guide.
Cheers
