It'd doesn't really matter since modems are independent of ROMs and kernels.

I'd say try starting from scratch and go back to stock. If you can't get it on stock, don't root it and take it to a Verizon store. Tell them you want a new sim. If a new sim doesn't fix it then it's a hardware issue and you get to bug Verizon until they give you a new Charge.

You can do that, but it'd be quicker to go to a store and just pick one up. They're free regardless, so it's up to you.

Unfortunately, I don't believe they do. If it is the sim though, you can possibly test it by putting someone else's sim (friend or family) in your phone and see if you still can't get data.

no i believe they tell you to do that through backup assistant, i would just export all your contacts to your sd.
and tell me how this goes, because i have had that same issue twice but i never changed the sim,
here is the thread. in the end i did a complete reflash and even then it took a few hours before i saw data so i am unsure if the flash had anything to do with it.

SIM problem on my One XL (LTE)

Hi since I can't find a forum for the One XL I assume it's shared within this one.
I just got my One XL yesterday and it's been having what seems to be a SIM card problem. The phone will be normal sometimes but will lose all mobile connectivity suddenly. Is this a known problem? The connectivity comes back on its on but it could be after a few minutes or few hours. Apart from returning the phone, is there anything I can do? Note that WiFi works perfectly.
Yes sir that would be a common issue among the hox .

When you say "XL," so you mean an imported XL from Asia? Rogers? AT&T? The AT&T's the one having some radio issues. I don't think the Rogers' is. And if you imported yours there could be a number of reasons you're having connectivity issues.
@barryH_GEG: I live in Hong Kong and the One XL has the right bands for 4G and HSPA+.
@tyshemi: is there a software fix to this or is returning it the only option?

Gentlemen,
What the h.. is with this phone? I got it as well last Friday and I have exactly the same problem - it loses all mobile connectivity and only emergency calls can be done .. for which a SIM card won't be needed. It doesn't look like a software pronlem to me, it looks more like a hardware problem! I've seen this behavior immediately after I received the phone and I immediately went with the phone in a Vodafone shop. The guy did not look surprise at all. He took out the micro SIM for couple of times and after wards it worked OK. I went home and after couple oh hours it happened again!!!
@ HTC developers:
Gentlemen, are you joking with this device? What's going on in the testing team?
Indeed it is a LTE phone - and it is known already that there are lots of problems with the 4G software, but the SIM card not to be seen by the mobile? How could this be possible???
Please do something about this!
I will send back this device immediately!
Cheers
I myself have exchanged my HOX for this issue twice now. AT&T knows about this issue and refers to it as a manufacturing defect with the SIM card reader while not in a LTE area.

In Australia, we have this issue on our 32GB One XL. Apparently it's a particular version of micro SIM. One specific version has this issue, the other doest.
I've seen it happen a couple of times on mine since I got it. If it happens again, I'm going to put some very thing pieces of paper under the sim card to make it marginally thicker and press firmer against the contacts when it's inserted.

Hi guys,
Just to give you an update about my HTC ONE XL. Unfortunately, I have only bad news about it !
I went yesterday to Vodafone shop and they changed the micro SIM card. They gave me a different one - also a brand new one, and I have the same problem, the phone loses the connection with the SIM card. Since yesterday it happened already twice! I've seen some discussions here about the WiFi. Just to mention that in my case the Wifi can be used, only the network is gone and stays gone until I restart the phone.
HTC ONE X also loses the connection with the SIM?
My micro SIM card does not have a 4G subscription anyway..
Cheers
Try putting tape on the plastic side of the microSIM to see if maybe you can get a more solid connection?
My One XL would keep loosing reception and saying "no sim" even though it was clearly working. I deactivated my SIM pin and it seems to have stopped dropping out and saying "no sim" Give it a try.
I have One XL and I have no sim issues, it could be the piece that you use. As for the signal drop, it does happen to me sometime, and I think it tries to connect at LTE then goes back 3G. Try to force 3G only then try.
Setting on network menu could help too. Try *#*#4636#*#*

Been having the same issue and found it in the logs. Not sure if other people are seeing the same thing though. Post with info.
Hi guys,
I sent back the phone last week and yesterday I got a new one with a "newer" IMEI. Since yesterday, the phone did not lose the connection with the SIM card.
I was told that, indeed, some of the first HTC ONE XL modeles released on the market had the problem described by us on this forum/topic. The nature of the problem, hardware or software is not known to me so far but I believe it's a bit of both..
Cheers
This happened to me and updating radios to 1.88 or higher fixed it. did not work well with 1.85 radio. Radios dont come with custom roms. They have to be installed separately or with a ruu. There is a radio thread in development. You must be rooted. Ive only had 1 person tell me they still had problems after updating.. if it doesnt fix it, get another phone. Its a legit reason. Main reason for a phone is to make calls. kinda hard to do that with no mobile connection. :crying:
Edit: here is the radio thread. 1.88 or higher. 1.88 is my favorite. The telus seems to be great also. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1694012

I recall the comments above. The connection with the SIM card was also lost for the new HTC ONE XL phone, but this time after about 40 hours !
Software running on this phone: 1.82.162.6
Android Version: 4.0.3
I have no other option but to send it back again, and go for a Samsung ..

and jsut in general the network fluctuates a lot on this phone.

Nexus 5 Stuck un EDGE

So a week or so ago my Nexus 5 stopped getting reception for 3g networks, leaving me with EDGE or just no signal every time, everywhere, I've moved a lot around the city and it didn't change anything, i tried my sim card in my old Galaxy s4 and it worked perfectly with 3G Hspa networks so it isnt my sim card, I flashed different radios from the XDA modems thread, nothing, I rebooted, changed the network, changed the APN, dialed *#*#4636#*#* and switched the mode there, god I even opened the back of the phone to check the MIMO antennas and they were fine, nothing seems to solve the issue, so I'm here for help, please help, what else can I do to fix this?

GSM Signal Issue

Hello XDA Community,
I am from Kosovo (Europe) and I have a Nexus 5 that I ordered through Play Store. The phone is great but I have a problem with GSM Signal. In 4.4.2 I was losing signal so the only way to get back to signal was to reboot the phone. The same happened in 4.4.3 and barely in 4.4.4 but with the latest update there are many times when people try to call me but i am unreachable and the same happens when i try to call someone, I cannot reach them.
Is there anything that can be done to fix this issue (don't tell me to contact the carrier because I will not get any help) or should I just wait for a new update from Google?

[Q] Mate7 4g data problem

Hi all,
I've had this great phone MT7-L09 (softare version L09V100R001C00B127) since last December. My problem is that every now and then the 4g cuts off for a period of ten seconds.
It does not matter how strong the signal is nor which or whatever app I'm using. It just loses network. First thing I did was to change the old sim card to a new one. Did not help.
I was in contact with the Huawei support and conclusion was to send phone to service. OK. It came back with the same problem altough they changed the circuit board...so obviously they though that this would solve the problem. I did not. After messing around with it, trying to find if someone else was suffering with the same problem, with no luck, I send it back to service. Now they said that there is nothing wrong with it, but the problem is still there.
I havent noticed anything cut offs using 3g. It's not a major thing but it would be nice to know if its a firmware or any other software related problem.
If I use Netflix or similar where the data keeps coming it works just fine or if I use the phone as Wi-Fi hotspot, no problems.
It just loses network connection using apps like play store, facebook, whatsapp, twitter, every browser ie. firefox, build in browser, chrome, to name a few.
Should I just keep using it as it is or keep sending it back to service until they fix this issue???
Thanks

Sorry...one stupid question: have you already tried keeping the phone completely stock (without any application and/or software or any kin dof personalisation) for a couple of week and see if the problem still exists?
It really seems to me a software problem. Very strange.
I had the same problem with my MT7-TL10 golden version. For a week or so, the network used to come and go. Then ultimately the sim was not recognized at all. I sent it to Huawei service center and they told me that the sim slot is broken and I had to pay for replacement of the board which I refused. I was sure that I didn't break it. Now I am using my phone with one sim only.

I'm not sure, but isn't the sim card slot located on the circuit board??? If it is, it cannot be the problem, but I must try the second slot anyhow.

Does not work, same problem after a numerous resettings. If I may add, I've have couple of other phones of which this problem does not occur.
In same place and conditions these phones work just fine not losing the data connection. Sure, if 4g is not available they use 3g, but never ever will the connection break off.

faulty 4G module tuner.. phone ... replacement needed...
change preferred network
Go to settings and -->mobile networks-->>preferred network and select "WCDMA only"..
It will fix your problem..
There is no such option in my phone settings, only the option to choose automatic 4g3g2g or automatic 3g2g or 2g, 3g only and 2g only. As previously stated no data loss nor connectivity issues using 3g. It's bit annoying sometimes when phone loses data connection altogether although signal is very strong. Just waiting lollipop upgrade if it'd solve the problem, I doubt it but...
network operator..
I think it's network problem..please contact your network operator..4g network have connection problem from some local area signal towers..so you just put other network company SIM card in your local area..(use 4g supported SIM only)
Thanks for your advice, but I don't think that it's SIM card problem because there is no problem what so ever using my other phone SGS5.
sorry

Hmmm. Sorry friend..I am helpless.. anyway continue your thread here..in Xda have brilliant members..they can help you..best of luck.
Thanks, I totally missed your comment...this is turning out to be quite a puzzle. I've noticed the less battery (<60%) I've have on the phone there seems to be nothing wrong with the 4g connection. ???
To answer to myself, I was too optimistic...nothing to do with battery. It's just so weird that phone works like a charm most of time and then suddenly not. I'm confused...
Now on the newest firmware lollipop 5.1 it fixed my lte problem
same issue
I bought mate 7 a couple of days ago and I keep losing the data connection. the network gets connected and lost again.
i did everything to fix it but no luck. changed sim, restored device, modified APN and no luck.
it keeps disconnecting seems that it is a problem with the phone itself as i have read the same issue on a couple of forums..
hope it is a software issue and get fixed soon as this is annoying.
In service they replaced my phone to a new one mostly because of this problem and I can say it did not help at all. Only upgrading to lollipop will fix the problem ( tested on beta) I'm on b145 now and it does that all the time. I guess it is carrier based problem not SIM nor hardware.
