Battery saver mode disabled? - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Hey guys I am not sure if I am just too stupid to find it or if Verizon has simply disabled it again, but I cannot find the battery saver mode. I remember Verizon took that option out on the M7, but now that HTC has that super battery saver mode, I kind of find it hard to believe that Verizon would remove such an important key feature. As anybody have any luck?

The extreme version should come to the US phones after the carrier approves the update. The regular power saving mode may not be on verizon at all.. hopefully we will get it too

Ah alright thanks guys!

Sprint received theirs today along with an update according to the headlines. Has anyone on Verizon received theirs? The only reason I'm eager to receive any update is my stock alarm did not go off this morning. I assume there is some sort of bug in the OS as I have not changed anything from when it was working flawlessly all last week.

Major OTA update 6.2.2013 -

Guys,
Incase you didn't know, doesnt appear to be common knowledge yet, but i just had a tip off, checked updates and low and behold, an update is available.
Im carrier unlocked, so it may be a while coming to you, but keep checking.
Strangely about still reports OSversion is 80.10211.204?
On the face of it, it appears to be a quite a big release, after installing and restarting a couple of time, you get presented a 'migrating data' screen, in all takes 10 minutes from starting the install.
Whats changed...?
Well i dont know yet, still installing, but thought id give you all the heads up.
Will report back when installation has finished.
Ciao.
Interesting find! Receiving the update as well now (unbranded). Makes me curious as of what might have changed.
Strange, but the "Windows Phone 8 update history" on microsoft site nows nothing about this update.
UPD:
Some Sina Weibo account could be added.
If you read OP message carefully, OS is not updated. It is probably just a HTC firmware update. Not a WP8 OS update.
Well it isn't an os update, so its from htc, as to what its done i don't know. I didn't note my firmware version before updating so i cant tell you lol. Device feels faster but probably placebo effect. Anyone notice anything?

Update
Both Firmware & bootloader versions have changed.
FW updated from 20003.111 to 20005.111
Bootloader from 0.0.1532.20(159895) to 0.0.1532.20(162966)

Contacted HTC support today, no changelog, they dont know (or wouldnt say) whats been updated, they said to contact MS for info, which ive now done.
Be interesting to know what else has changed.
I noticed this as well as I am always checking for updates in the hope some amazing new features will be added to WP8, wasn't unfortunately, as mentioned above a firmware update and rom loader version update.
Phone seems faster but we are all probably imagining that!
Any information on what this update contains would be appreciated
A little extra boost on battery life would be nice, not that my 8X has a bad life, but its not the best ever.
Hi
My 8X Just back from technical support and as already the new bootloader version (0.0.1532.20(162966)
It seem now i can't flash via Goldcard method! :crying: (i can't unbrand it this time!)
And after reset there is a gears turning during 5 mn on screen! I Never See This Before....
IF YOU WANT TO UNBRAND YOUR 8X DO NOT UPDATE NOW.
My batterylife seems to be better - my device would get pretty hot while using Whatsapp or reading pdf files or things like browsing, but not anymore since this OTA update!
One thing I have noticed, is that the phone sometimes has a 1-2 second delay after tapping the Back key. so sometimes I press back twice because the phone didn't seem to response to the first tap but it did in fact, so I double tap out of an app which is pretty annoying. But if thats all, well, I'll just use the windows button instead haha.
Anyone noticed that under Advanced (Wifi) you have the ability to let the phone detect your location for better wifi re-connection? At least I didn't notice this option before the patch. Pretty sweet! Doesn't seem to impact my battery too much, I usually finished the day with 25%, now I still have around 50-60%. Might be placebo, but it makes me smile when I see other people running for powersockets with their iPhones/Androids
Hi,
I have an HTC from USA AT&T, I have firmware: 1532.20.10009.502 and bootloader: 0.0.1532.20(156201),
Why this numbers are far enought from the one you are saying and when I look for updates it say it is updated.?
Well, the device is certainly booting faster, so that is a big :highfive: in my book
Is this update on Verizon.
Check the volume guys, same as Lumia 800. Restricted
Haven't received anything yet! Unbranded 8x here! Are they distributing this one by country or what?
Just had update here on O2 UK...
Only difference I have seen so far is a Hearing Damage Warning when putting the volume over 20 when listening to music....to be fair, mine never actually hits more than 15....

well, I had the update two days ago. The volume is not restricted, just that now when you turn it up above 20/30 while playing media content, it will give you a message about blasting your eardrums out. Probably they forgot to include that before as the 8X is quite capable of high volume output. Just some legal precautions. Other than that, it's just a FW and boot loader update from HTC side, not from MS.

i don't know how they decide which devices get the update, but it isn't depending on Country as my father got the update 3 days ago and i'm still with the 20003 Firmware

[Q] Extreme and power saving modes missing?

I am not sure that Verizon has the extreme power saving mode but what about the regular one?
Verizon currently does not have it, you must be rooted to use this feature, on Verizon M7.
It MAY come in the Android 4.4.3, update when we get it.
I can't say how I know this, so please don't ask.
Now by "what about the regular one?"
What does this mean, the other HTC One M7 on other carriers?
If so, I believe international has it, but can't speak for others.

Yea I do know Sprint got 4.4.3 OTA, I am not sure about EPS Mode, but they could have had it before the OTA as well, can't remember.
You may be able to do sqlite and get EPS going as like a shortcut on the desktop.. not as nice as having the option in settings > power, or a quick tile but if it works without root, still good, IMO.
you may even be able to get the EQS tile using sqlite, i'd do some digging around on Google searching XDA threads about adding EPS mode without root, or with sqlite editor.
(if you need root for sqlite editor I apologize, it's been a while since I've been on a phone without root. Hope you get it!)
HTC has been really great though to commitment about keeping the HTC One line updated to the latest and greatest, and I expect the 4.4.3 to come relatively soon. (compared to how often OTA's used to come anyway)
Before I ran firewater, I was able to root with weak sauce, use the power saver edit method with that one hex editor, then unroot and still have it. Dunno if that would satisfy your needs

5.1.1 OTA?

So today(5-15) I saw online that T-Mobile USA released the 5.1.1 OTA for there branded Galaxy S6/S6 Edge, so any info on when the Verizon branded version is coming out? I'm having multiply major bugs(wifi, memory, and lagging) across 3 different S6 devices(original device and 2 replacements) since launch day. Also, the Verizon Branded OTA that just came out brought me new bugs like with Google voice to text giving me 2 new bugs and making it unusable. Also, apps are freezing like crazy and ends up freezing the whole phone and when I try to lock the phone with the power button when an app is freezing it opens up the camera instead of locking the phone and most of the time I have to restart the phone when this happens and it happens quite often, but only started after the Verizon OTA. Also, from launch day(across all 3 devices) I been having memory issues with the phone, it tells me it has between 1GB-1.2GB of total memory on the phone and I only have 748MB total available with only very few apps on the phone at the moment, everything closed and all the bloatware gone off the phone. I herd that the Verizon OTA we just got was suppose to fix the memory issue, but apparently for me it did nothing at all with the memory on my phone. and lastly I'm having the major wifi bug a lot of us are having witch for me started on the 6th day after launch and never worked again even after I had 3 different devices and still the same thing is still ongoing, and in fact the Verizon OTA we just got made the wifi bug even worst then before.
So the 5.1.1 OTA is really needed for me to fix these ongoing and new bugs I'm having and after 2 months I'm getting sick and tired of waiting for patches to come out!
You probably should go into your system recovery and clear cache. That will probably help a majority of your bugs.

I already did that and nothing changed at all, and like I said I had 3 different devices and nothing changed at all. In fact the 3rd device I got which I still have was giving me problems from very first time I turned it on and during the initial setup as soon as I turned it on from the FedEx box and the keyboard was slow and not putting the letters I clicked in the box and to click next/skip, restart or power off I had to use my pointer finger and press multiple times and fast like a woodpecker would on a tree in order for those functions to respond, and before I can even finish the initial setup I had to already do a factory reset on the phone. Even typing right now in this box responding to you the phone is lagging just typing now.
Don't think Verizon has announced anything yet. The current G920VVRU1A0E2 works fine for me.
To help with keyboard lag - go into settings and make sure the proper language is intalled and updated. Have you tried different keyboards? Swiftkey?

Well 3 different phones since launch day have been giving me all different kinds of problems and never had a device with out a major problem in it and the new Verizon OTA that just came out in June made the phone even worst then before. The Build for the update is G920VVRU1A0E2, and in fact I even had problems getting the update on my phone because from launch day of the OTA-4days after it came out the OTA would not fully download and give me error code 503 and it wasn't until the 5th day that it worked and then when I finally got it installed on my phone it just brought more bugs to the phone like I talked about in the OP

Have you tried using Odin to flash back to stock with the full tar file instead of the update? If not go here and give it a shot. If you use the OE2 one you will have to factory data reset to wipe your phone clean either after or before you flash.

yea I tired that, but this started as soon as I turned on my phone for the very 1st time trying to do the initial set up, plus like I said even pressing next/skip, power off or reset in the initial setup was a hassle. I had to take my pointer finger and point it down and press fast and many times like a woodpecker in order for the buttons functions to work and I could not even finish the initial setup and had to already do a factory reset before the initial setup was even finished on the 3rd device I have now. The phone is so bad that even clicking the home button some of the apps, Google search and weather is not on screen right away and takes second or 2 to show up, its lagging to show up.

3 different devices and still the same exact major things plus new things on each device are going on with the phone. Switching out the device should fix it all, but I guess this is not the case here. Plus about the wifi issues I'm in a XDA forum 13 pages long about the phones wifi not working(I know it says edge, but it's the same problems with the S6 and S6 edge so no difference)

My 1st phone which arrived on Sat came with G920VVRU1A0E2 out of the box.

Perhaps you should go into a store and show them how it is not working?

I did on launch day, I went back to the same corporate store a few hours later and got into a fight with the sales rep who sold me the phone a few hours earlier and the store GM because they were Ignorant because my phone was hot as fuc k at 90F and hotter and they said nothing was wrong. On top of that they even lied to me about having the edge devices in stock on launch day and even pulled out the normal S6 trying to trick me and it was not until I said something did he say oh this is not an edge and then said there was no edge's in stock, but while I was waiting in line I asked him and 2 other reps and they all said they had the white 64GB edge in stock. They rather lie to there customers to make a sale then tell the truth(at least this corporate store location), and then when you have problems with the phone they don't care to help you at all. Even 611 said this was very wrong and made a complaint on mine and 611's behalf on the corporate store and the sales rep.

Here is an update, as of recently my phone is getting really really hot and temperatures of 120F+ and even Verizon technical support saw that through their diagnostic system as it was actually on those temperatures at that very moment when they were looking. Also, from me just being tech savvy and Verizon technical support confirming it as well this phone is also supposed to have a safeguard in the phone and if it gets too hot the device is upposed to power off on its own, but apparently the safeguard is not working because when the phone gets very hot the battery starts flashing and in the middle of the screen it tells me the phone is very hot and it only lets me click OK. If I'm charging the phone the battery flashes and say the same thing but just adds unable to charge, & I can unplug the charger and immediately plug it back in to the phone and it will start charging again and then a few minutes later it will give me the same message. When it's doing that its not supposed to tell me anything it's supposed to just shut off and its not doing so.
So there overheating policy states that I have to bring my phone too a corporate store and they're going to replace the device right on spot. So Sunday I went to the corporate store to do that, but for some reason their system wouldn't allow them to process this because it didn't have an option to do it and the general manager and the store representative we're booth trying together for at least 45 minutes. They ultimately ended up just sending me a replacement device via Fedex to my house and when the phone arrives today(7-2) I have to bring the overheating device that I currently have to the store so they can do what they need to do to send it back because by law I'm not allowed to send an overheating device back. Verizon corporate store processed my order on Sunday and I was supposed to get the device on Tuesday but I'm getting it today due to inclement weather at the FedEx Memphis Tennessee hub and so Fedex at the Memphis Tennessee hub was at a complete standstill and my package was part of it.
Once I get my 4th replacement device and start using it for a while I will let you know how it's working

Unlocked S7 (SM-G930U) on T-Mo, How To Stop OTA Update Nag Notifications?

Hi. I purchased a new unlocked Galaxy S7 in July (SM-G930-U) not from T-mobile, but my carrier is T-Mobile. A few days ago, I got a notification to do a software update and almost tapped ok, but stopped the download and did some quick research to see if it was a T-Mobile update, or a Samsung update.
It turns out is a T-Mobile update, of course. I DO NOT WANT THEIR SYSTEM SOFTWARE on my unbranded, bloatware-free, and feature unrestricted phone.
But, there is no option for "No Thanks" to refuse the update, just "Later." And the icon never leaves my notification bar, and the phrase calling to update is always on the notification panel, and lock screen as well.
From initial setup, I selected the option to download updates manually, and have never done any updates on this phone (still factory). Is there any way I can stop this from occurring at all? Or does T-Mobile have me on perpetual rage inducing roller coaster? I do not want have to see this every day, and hopefully ever after if there is a way to stop this, as I do not plan to ever do updates via T-Mobile.
Thanks to anyone who has any suggestions or solutions!

Im assuming your not rooted. You can try downloading an app from the playstore like Package Disabler and freeze the software update apks. I beleive that specific app is discontinued but there are others specifically designed for Samsung. You can Google which ones to freeze but if you scroll through the app list it should be self explanatory according to the package name.

Yea rooting absolutely got a bit more complicated over the years especially with Samsung phones. Depending on your model Snapdragon or exynos it probably isnt worth the trouble at this moment anyway. Hope you achieve your goal with the update notification. If u need any more help let me know.

Hello,
I'm new to Samsung, but have had android for some time. With most phones the update is not only carrier specific but also model specific. Are you sure the update that you are being alerted to is a T-Mobile update. If I was to get an AT&T S7, unlock it and put in a T-Mobile sim to use on T-Mobile's network. Any updates that come to the phone will still be for the AT&T model since the CID and maybe the MID are different then a T-Mobile S7. I would assume that the unlocked G-930U would also have a different CID and MID. Again this is my first Samsung, but I hope this info helps.

Sm-n930p rom?

Am I missing a post? All I can find is the posts for the 930F/FD.
I'm trying to get a handle on this whole 60% battery issue before it gets pushed to me. I know about the app that disables it for you, but honestly I'd rather have Root for ultimate say.
If there's not a ROM for the Sprint version, why not? (other than no one has made one)
I'm sorry if this has been covered in an older post.

Yeah. I have a fix. Download this .tar and put each part in the right box. Turn on OEM unlock and Debugging and flash with the latest version of Odin3_v3.12.4_4 . My phone now charges to 100% and the stupid recall nag screen is gone. The phone is 100% stock and unrooted still. You're welcome. Don't forget to hit that thanks button.

My phone now charges to 100% and the stupid recall nag screen is gone. The phone is 100% stock and unrooted still. You're welcome. Don't forget to hit that thanks button.

I am going to give this a shot, does it get rid of all the warnings too, I just hope I can get back to 100% battery. Does this wipe my data or does it save it? Thanks

According to the OP this wipes data.
let the world know if it works please. Don't want to lose my Sammy pay unless it's a somewhat permanent fix

I will post if it works or not, I wish there was a way to revert to the factory firmware and not wipe the data. So I assume a simple restore really does not restore it to factory another words the updates are still there not the firmware it shipped with? I have to back up my phone and then I am going to give it a shot, if I get a fail message I hope someone here can help me figure out why and how to fix it.

My guess is the updates applied will stick. The method I mentioned previously works, I know it's a headache to restore data but it's worth it in the end.
Sorry guys, I've flashed this three times and the Samsung patch still over rides and in installs the 60% limit. Only solution is to root and I've not found anything that works yet.

Bad news
Well we better get a custom rom quick because Samsung told me today that they will release an update that prevents the phones from being turned on as well as carriers are going to block note 7s from connecting to their network. We have to make our voices heard becaise today its the note 7, tomorrow who knows, I will never buy samsung again after being treated this way.
PS Disable samsung cloud because they are using it to drain your battery...

How dare they try so hard to prevent death/injury to you and your loved ones and damage to your property...
It's not like any of that would tarnish their image, right? Wait...
Yeah any lithium ion battery has the possibility to blow up, i dont care that you are a senior member, if you don't have anything useful to add the post, then get out...
We are looking for solutions so get off the soapbox, my Note 7 is at just as much risk as your phone.
To the OP, we really need a custom rom and root quick cuz it wont be long until we are blocked from the networks.

True that, however we will be powerless against the IMEI block, that's a cell tower thing, something we don't have control over.
I was successful in reverting to a previous update before the 60% one. I also found a previous version of the package blocker described in some of the posts I've read. All of which you can find via Google (Android central) or XDA.
Phone automatically tried updating, so I skipped ahead as fast as possible to turn on airplane mode. I then installed the already downloaded disabler, disabled the recommended packages and turned on the radio again.
(Note: Ensure that you de-encrypt your files before starting the process, I forgot to and lost some files.)

Can someone point me to the easiest free way to Root the Note 7, its a Sprint Note 7 so I can get rid of the 60% thing. Does Root allow you to stop the 60% battery limit? Does it allow you to stop all the dang warnings? I would appreciate it. I keep getting different threads about how to Root the Sprint Note 7 so if someone can post a link to the best thread on how to do this the easiest without messing it up. I really appreciate it, thank you in advance.

Unfortunately, there isn't a root option for us 930P users. There was something that we *could* have used, however that got patched a couple updates ago and we can't go any further back than the one that patched it (to my understanding).
If we have root access and the XPOSED module, then there certainly will be something we can do about it if you do a quick search in the play store... of course like the package disabler, Samsung will come hard at those apps too... Im lucky enough to not ever had to deal with the 60 percent update, hopefully I'm lucky enough that someone will release a rooted PHE or unlock key for the bootloader.
How was it you were able to get the nag gone? soon as i finished flashing it shows the nag; and the battery update notice, which I don't know which service to disable using a different disabler when i click on debloat, it doesn't block update, unlike disabler pro :\

You won't be able to get 100% of the nag screen gone, but I was able to get it down to just the little one when charging.
