Hi !
This may be a frequent question and I'm so sorry for that .
I'm suffering from battery problem ( fast drain ) two weeks ago . Someone advice me to install a rom with reported good life battery . So I made a small search on the net and many people advice me to install PAC ROM . But I want to ask those xho install it some question :
Is it really a good rom
Does it improve life battery ?
Does it take lot of memory ?
Does it require lot of RAM memory and CPU ?
What are the advantages and drawbacks of using this rom ?
Am I forced to all data ( pictures , apps etc.. ) while installing it ?
And finally how to download it and how to install it ?
My device is samsung galaxy tab 2 7" P3110 . Thanks previously and sorry for english mistake

Borther. I would like to quote one thing first of all; all kitkat based ROMs are battery suckers. So you will not get good battery backup as you might have seen in 4.1.2 or 4.2.2. Xposed framework consumes lot of RAM,i prefer not to use it. PAC ROM is just like another KITKAT ROMs that provides loads of features but with an inefficient battery backup. You will see huge battery drain yourself. I did tried all Kitkat based ROMs. Even all kitkat based ROMs have shuttering/noise sounds while playing some games like Real-Racing 3 etc. I suggest to go with Stock ROM 4.2.2 based on your region or cm 10.2 based ROMs(if available). Root it(if stock) and remove all the samsung bloatwares from it. Then you will not get any kind of battery drain or Lag while playing high-end games. But ultimately choice is all yours.
Although ROM Flashing/Installation instructions are already available in corresponding Threads. But i shall still give you a brief on it :
1) First root your Device(if not rooted) ..... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1880010
2) Flash Custom recovery(in case you want to flash any custom ROM like PAC) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2548257
3) Reboot into Custom recovery(Phillz or clockworkmod or TWRP)
4) Wipe data/factory reset(in Phillz wipe to install new ROM). Note: this will remove all data/apps from your previous ROM.But Data for some of the Games/apps remains intact. If you are using any other recovery other than Phillz. You will have to format /system as well from Mount and storage
5) flash ROM
6) flash Gapps
7) wipe cache partition.
8) Wipe Dalvik cache from advanced tab in Phillz(as i have mostly used this recovery to flash ROMs)
In case you wish to overclock you device. there are custom kernels available like Next or Agni. Please look for the flashing instructions in the corresponding threads. If you still run into some issues please let me know.

thank you very much lokesh.3440 . So I'm not going to install it because all I want is a good battery life ! Actually my device is rooted ( SuperSU ) and I still have 760 ram.
I'm n amateur android user . I started using android a month ago so would you please help me to do a Flash custum recovery . I downloaded PhilZ Touch Recovery 6.22.9 files ( P3110 and odin files ) from this link :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51314025&postcount=296&nocache=1&z=8854052119422704
But I don't understand what to do next ! Would you please help me ?
You know the procedure to flash through odin,, if no,,, then download Odin and flash phillz-xx.tar.md5 as pda,, make sure you have only one option restart checked inside odin,,, after restart it will take you to custom recovery directly ,,, please do these steps first,, I shall help you further step by step

A junior Member said that he starts using pac rom and it is okay for ram usage ! Am still waiting for his answer about battery drain . I hate kitkat roms ! I just need a rom wich increases battery life and provides less ram usage !
I find old version of slim rom : 4.2.x and 4.3.x ! Would one of those be helpful in my case?

hi
2 years withe my love GALAXY S1 (I9000)
rom every 3days ,alot of changes, life is running.
now ,i want some silent ,somthing to be stable and to install all my games and programes.
so i buy 7.7 , i am just asking LQ1 or LQ2 or CM9 or CM10 or any rom else which is
stable ,speed ,less problems.
i know this is the main question in fourms but
i will install it just once ,and will not change it .
main usage is web browsing and reading(smal font in HC is realy problem)
any advice plz
Paranoid Android! :good:
my suggestion... stock deodexed tweaked rom...
all cm10 based roms are crap tbh... very laggy and buggy for me... no real jelly bean effect.... the indian stock was the best for me...
in i9000
JB smooth, nice and better performance but some times i feel it need more hardware ,more function need more hardware .
LQ1 is good enough with everything working so if it isn't broke don't fix it as the brickbug is quite worrying after so many cases.
Im using Tweaked stock beta 5, tried CM bulids, but there are missing stuff, and. small bugs.
I suppose Zeta 4.0 shoulbe same as the one im using, no bugs , smoot efortless expereience

I just did the same move i9000 to P6800 on Friday. CM9 was great on my sgs but I had one of the original SGSs with the slow chips and JB was usable but slow.
i like cm9, nice and fast, no issues, and the experirience between my cm9 phone and cm9 tablet are the same
I load stock ICS then Zeta4.0 then Dedraks kernal to get rid of debug crap . I use latetest hk.
Yes, the Indian one's the best DDLP5
But I could not find the Deodexed one...(so as to apply the V6 Supercharger).
Does anyone have the Deoxded one of DDLP5 ? Many thanks
i've made my own deodexed on ddlp5... do you want the full version of bloatware remove one...

Cool, yes please!, I'd like to download it.
Sorry for bothering, but could you provide both full and no-bloatware ?
For no-bloatware one, which apps do you remove: readers hub, games hub, social hub?
What about the s-dock that shortcuts popup memo/calc, etc?
Is it possible to install back those removed apps if I want them again?
Many thanks
found the full stock deodexed at this thread...

i'm currently uploading the slim version... what's being removed... mostly all samsung software, but i retain the mini apps... oh... update some of the apps to the latest like maps/gmail/youtube and some others... add up flash player as its been pull out from playstore... oh the menu bar also has been edit to show battery percentage... i think that's all...

yes I tried that one, I couldn't get kai's one to work, ddlp5
I can't recall exactly, but it was either boot-loop, or I could not get the /system to have as rw..
The same rw mounting problem goes with the LQ2 dedoxed one in the dev thread...

thanks, will update soon, btw, have you got the supercharger all working with this rom?
update1: hm, i get a boot loop, after the GT6800 logo, I dont even see sammy logo.
the rom was originally from the official ddlp5, before fleshing yours, I wiped everything including /system, /data, /sdcard, /cache
update2: supernoob here, but I see that yours dont have boot.img inside the zip? do I have to have a correct boot.img?
thanks
you dont need to wipe... what included in the zip is a replacement deodexed /system/app and system/frameworks... others will still use the stock ddl5 files... supercharger script is also working fine.
btw what cwm did you use... i'm using cwm 6.0.1.1...
the way that i install it.
1. flash ddlp5 using odin
2. flash cwm 6.0.1.1
3. copy the files to sd card
4. flash it with cwm
that's all... it never fail before...
So
Ddlp5 looks to be the best untill now.
Can I ask why people return from JB to ICS ?

I think the current JBs are all based on CMs, they are alright,.. but I personally think the official stocks are much better as far as the stability goes
(I'm kinda used to Samsung touchwiz and options, etc),
it's just that the official ones often have more bloats then needed (but again I might be wrong)
I've recently tried all JBs from Dev thread, i.e., JB v1.3, Nexness v2, paranoid v2.1, etc (all latest as of today)
But they all seemed to have some unknown or awkward errors, and not 'smooth'. and so not recommended for daily use (for me..)
Hoping for some the official JB release from samsung..

X-GamerZ rom is really awesome. Fluid, no lag, stripped down. Games work fine. I can't go back to GB now. It feels like an eyesore. ICS is just not needed anymore as JB is much better in every way.

3. Front Facing camera preview is improper.
4. Video recording and playback suffers low framerate issues. Will be fixed soon.
5. Built-in WiFi hotspot doesn't work. Please use third party applications.
are these bugs already fixed? and what does it mean indtall first from A4?wer can i find it?

First root ddlf2 with bam kernel then flash cyanogenmod 10 alpha 4( no alpha 3 or 5) after that flash xgamerz and enjoy. EDIT:Recomended read carefully and understand the correct procedure to flash of each rom. You can find it in the OP of each rom.

Man i saw your post in Xgamerz trhead and just for curiosity. You solved your problems? If no: just try reflash cm10 alpha4 let the rom boot for 10/20 minutes dont worry if you dont have signal the 5 first minutes( its because the kernel) after that, reboot into recovery, do nandroid backup, when finish, follow the instruction to flash directly Xgamerz v2.2/ wipe data / format sistem/ flash rom /wipe cache & dalvik / fix permisions always help / reboot sistem / wait to complete boot,it takes several minutes (not necesary to flash any kernel, rom includes kwerty v3.1 test-2)
Enjoy.
Hope it helped you.

i think i was wrong for flashing the x-gamers as i first flash qwerty kernel the got endless boot so to prevent that i removed the battery and went to recovery flashed the x-gamers, installation successful but only the mobile network is not functioning well..
by the way i just flashed back to stock ddlf2..until i know what shud i do to flash x-gamers w/o error..still collecting more information..hehe
Hi, i recently rooted my phone. I flashed the venom rom and it worked okay the wifi and data ddint work at all and the camera did not work. So i was not satisfied with that rom so i wanted to switch to cyanogen official so i tryed to do this by geting the rom from offical cyanogen websiter and im sure it was the rite rom it was villa for htc one s nightly and i used cmw recovery to flash this i also cleared catch and data wipe before i flashed this ROM and it said it installed and next thing u no it i soft bricked my phone. the htc splash screen came then the rest was black screen and flashing home buttons thankfully i fixed this issue by using the offical recovery and mounting cd and using a diffrent ROM. So i really want this official Cyanogen 10,1 rom however it seems compliacted to get on from the other ROMS and i was wondering idf someone can give me some instructions and download links to get this ROM on my phone. Iam fully rotted with offical recovery and also iam running a custom ROM rite now that is dark jelly if that matters. much help would be appreciaited thank you very much. Also my htc one is S4.
Are you s off? You need to flash a kernel if not. And if your on a custom rom how can you be soft bricked? There's a cm10 thread in the dev section

Hi,
Small question, does the file "mmcblk1p12" contain the Clock Speed info?? Does this file vary from device to device?
Small request, Can you also modify the script to keep a backup of the old file in case something goes wrong we can restore the old one?

SERIOUSLY?! CREDITED TO CHINA USERS? I posted the 8 days before this here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40756835
You just take my idea, make a flashable zip and give credit to someone else. The devtree of the JB leak has some thing called 'limit_1ghz' the kernel checks if this is present and if it is, it will limit it. The ics devtree does not have this. So the kernel does not limit it. Instead it uses a macro to figure out if a particular cpu is capable of running at 1.2 GHz max. I don't really bother about these.. Nor do I say this.. But give credit where its due.

Hi,
Small question, does the file "mmcblk1p12" contain the Clock Speed info?? Does this file vary from device to device?
Small request, Can you also modify the script to keep a backup of the old file in case something goes wrong we can restore the old one?

looks like this question went unanswered.. well mmcblk1p12 does not contain any clock speed info.. all the clock speed related things are in the kernel.. as for backup, dont bother about it. its the same as the device_tree.bin you find in your fastboot files. this partition is the device tree. for the curious,
as for how or what exactly happens is that, well,
there are two types of omap4430. with max speed of 1GHz (used in our phones) and 1.2GHz (in razr). these are experimentally found.. the kernel is smart enough to find out what its highest speed should be.. how ever, it also checks if "limit_1_0_ghz" is present in the devtree. if it is present, it will limit it to 1GHz even if it can run at higher speeds..
so in short
'limit_1_0_ghz' is present in device tree of jb fxz files and not present in ics. probably they missed it out in ics.
A little help please
Simple question
>I'm using an Atrix 2 (MB865 AT&T)
>stock 1.0 ghz
>Using ICS Supercharged rom
I haven't done anything to the kernal , do i have to flash a kernal to overclock ? and if yes what would be the best and the most stable kernal ?
>And i used "Atrix 2 bootstrapper" to flash the rom and it's still there , but now in most of the roms they say flash using BMM and if u used Atrix2bootstrapper before there is a good chance of getting the device into bootloop , so would it happen even if i uninstall bootstraper and instal BMM ?
Thanks in advance

I had the Nitro Atrix2bootstrapper installed on my A2. I uninstalled it, and installed BMM 0.3.4... no problems. Boots up into boot menu manager no problems. But that might have just been sheer luck??? I followed the guide on here from Revi (i believe it was) to install BMM. I haven't flashed any roms though, haven't found one i think is worth flashing. They all seem to have some "missing" functionality (camera, wifi, bluetooth, etc..) Rooting my device was purely from a "tinkering & learning" aspect.
If i'm not mistaken though, if it does end up in a bootloop, you can use an FXZ firmware to set everything back. Just have to get into the fastboot menu and use rsd lite to flash the FXZ to the A2.
Experts, please correct me if I'm wrong. I've only been at this for 3 days

Thanks man , i flashed Jellybeer (JB.4.2) and successfully flashed back to ICS supercharged rom cause there were bugs in the JB rom + the battery life was awful , Using BMM and soft bricked phone once but still was able to flash ICS supercharged rom and now it's working just fine .
Want to flash the JBX kernel but not gonna do cause JBX kernel seems to drain more power . I'm using ICS spercharged v7 rom with stock kernal (1Ghz ) and get normal usage around 1 day if i use data and it can stay about 1.5 days if i just use calling and texting .
Try ICS supercharged v7 rom , no bugs what so ever !

I have the same model as yours..... Go to settings -> the very last tab (phone settings) => system updates => refresh......... w8 and a pop up will appear accept and you will be on 4.1.1 after a short 144mb download!
PS: I would recommend you to stay at ICS because 4.1.1 does not posses many features however it will eat ur ram like hell on average u would have 70-100mb free....... and games will lag a lot!

It looks like you're using a custom ROM so the update option isn't showing up. You must be on stock ICS to take the OTA update to JB.

You are on AOKP ROM and not custom ROM.
You can install Stock OS using factory images
OR
Install custom ROMs like CyanogenMod, AOKP or SlimBean (Personal favorite).
You'll find the tutorials in the development thread.

Even official android has some bugs. The closest to bug-free JB rom I used was Strawberry ROM coupled with matr1x kernel.

There is no Custom ROM without any bugs. Even stock ROMs will have some bugs.
The reliable custom ROMs are CyanogenMod, AOKP, SlimBean etc etc
You can choose any of them and I'm sure you'll not be disappointed.

If you already have a custom rom on your device you already have a custom recovery on it
First step update it via rom manager from playstore or manually flash the latest one from here
Then go to recovery and
-Wipe Data Factory Reset
-Wipe Cash
-Advance Settings>Wipe dalvik cash
Then Install from recovery rom and gapps
-Reboot and then install Superuser for root
And final only if you need i added a filemanager in attachment that you can flash from recovery because the rom don't has one or you could download one from play store

A kernel is the core of android but for more information just google it
To install just flash it like you flashed the rom and whipe cashe and dalvik
You will notice a better performance and also a better headphone sound thanks to voodoo sound mod(a kernel audio driver)
