wich rom to stay with? - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi
2 years withe my love GALAXY S1 (I9000)
rom every 3days ,alot of changes, life is running.
now ,i want some silent ,somthing to be stable and to install all my games and programes.
so i buy 7.7 , i am just asking LQ1 or LQ2 or CM9 or CM10 or any rom else which is
stable ,speed ,less problems.
i know this is the main question in fourms but
i will install it just once ,and will not change it .
main usage is web browsing and reading(smal font in HC is realy problem)
any advice plz

Paranoid Android! :good:

my suggestion... stock deodexed tweaked rom...

all cm10 based roms are crap tbh... very laggy and buggy for me... no real jelly bean effect.... the indian stock was the best for me...

in i9000
JB smooth, nice and better performance but some times i feel it need more hardware ,more function need more hardware .

LQ1 is good enough with everything working so if it isn't broke don't fix it as the brickbug is quite worrying after so many cases.

Im using Tweaked stock beta 5, tried CM bulids, but there are missing stuff, and. small bugs.
I suppose Zeta 4.0 shoulbe same as the one im using, no bugs , smoot efortless expereience

I just did the same move i9000 to P6800 on Friday. CM9 was great on my sgs but I had one of the original SGSs with the slow chips and JB was usable but slow.

i like cm9, nice and fast, no issues, and the experirience between my cm9 phone and cm9 tablet are the same

I load stock ICS then Zeta4.0 then Dedraks kernal to get rid of debug crap . I use latetest hk.

Yes, the Indian one's the best DDLP5
But I could not find the Deodexed one...(so as to apply the V6 Supercharger).
Does anyone have the Deoxded one of DDLP5 ? Many thanks

i've made my own deodexed on ddlp5... do you want the full version of bloatware remove one...

Cool, yes please!, I'd like to download it.
Sorry for bothering, but could you provide both full and no-bloatware ?
For no-bloatware one, which apps do you remove: readers hub, games hub, social hub?
What about the s-dock that shortcuts popup memo/calc, etc?
Is it possible to install back those removed apps if I want them again?
Many thanks

found the full stock deodexed at this thread...

yes I tried that one, I couldn't get kai's one to work, ddlp5
I can't recall exactly, but it was either boot-loop, or I could not get the /system to have as rw..
The same rw mounting problem goes with the LQ2 dedoxed one in the dev thread...

thanks, will update soon, btw, have you got the supercharger all working with this rom?
update1: hm, i get a boot loop, after the GT6800 logo, I dont even see sammy logo.
the rom was originally from the official ddlp5, before fleshing yours, I wiped everything including /system, /data, /sdcard, /cache
update2: supernoob here, but I see that yours dont have boot.img inside the zip? do I have to have a correct boot.img?
thanks

you dont need to wipe... what included in the zip is a replacement deodexed /system/app and system/frameworks... others will still use the stock ddl5 files... supercharger script is also working fine.
btw what cwm did you use... i'm using cwm 6.0.1.1...
the way that i install it.
1. flash ddlp5 using odin
2. flash cwm 6.0.1.1
3. copy the files to sd card
4. flash it with cwm
that's all... it never fail before...

So
Ddlp5 looks to be the best untill now.
Can I ask why people return from JB to ICS ?

I think the current JBs are all based on CMs, they are alright,.. but I personally think the official stocks are much better as far as the stability goes
(I'm kinda used to Samsung touchwiz and options, etc),
it's just that the official ones often have more bloats then needed (but again I might be wrong)
I've recently tried all JBs from Dev thread, i.e., JB v1.3, Nexness v2, paranoid v2.1, etc (all latest as of today)
But they all seemed to have some unknown or awkward errors, and not 'smooth'. and so not recommended for daily use (for me..)
Hoping for some the official JB release from samsung..

This is only for P6200 De-Odexed with latest firmware update: PDA:KL1 PHONE: KK5 CSC KK8 (XME)
put .zip on root of /sdcard or external card and flash with recovery.
enjoy.
tested and working on 3g gtab 7+.
I can help do this for other models/firmwares if requested, it's fairly simple. just supply your stock framework-res.apk. Not entirerly sure it will work if you are on a stock .odex'ed ROM.
I dont seem to notice the ICS transitions, maybe one of them. But they are all in there correctly with the proper intergers. I even decomplied it after flashing to make sure. The .apk built without issue, so you guys let me know if you notice them.
This is CRT - OFF animation only, to enable CRT ON would be smali facestab shot in the dark.
Thanks and enjoy!
seriously! I cant believe more people haven't jumped on this thread. Crt is my favorite animation since gingerbread on my epic. People freak out when they see it. As soon as I picked up my tab first thing I wanted to do was root it and get the crt animation on it. It would be perfect on a bigger screen like the galaxy tab. Im on a stock/ rooted wifi only p6210. Please help me get this. Even directions to do it myself would be greatly appreciate! Thanks

+ 1 I just quote you! I got CRT on all my devices and it would be amazing to have it even on my P6200 rooted but stocked odexed rom
Could you help us? Thanks
EDIT :
I just flashed *.zip the CRT works fine even in my odexed rom, I prefered it in portrail animation instead of landscape one.
Issues of theme : it has partially changed my language and there is NO WAY to reset it into my own. Anyway theme is the same (Honeycomb) nothing has changed
Sent from my GT-P6200 using xda premium
not sure to begin with that one. Try wiping dalvik-cache, in recovery if you have CWM if not you can manually delete it with root/file explorer.
Theme is meant for De-Odexed.
Already did man, it was the 1st thing I did but nothing has changed. Language pack is f**ked up.
I knew about theme I was only testing there are no de odexed rom for my P6200

best suggestions are factory reset or try fixing permissions in CWM recovery ( if you have it )
make sure to wipe /cache also.
have you tried selecting another language, apply; then reselect your language (Italian I'm assuming?). Worth a shot.
This was also done a while back. DXKL1
Try my Deodexed DXKL3 if you havent already. Then flash my ICS Theme has all this and more!!

I thank you Chris, by the way I already fixed permissions (I'm not a newbie in Android ) and I even wiped cache (yes I have CWM). I don't need to perform a factory (at least 'till there'll be avaible a real custom ROM) and the real issue is that I don't even got my language (yes italian ) to choose in "Language Menu"
You're right, thread is quite old (I have KL7). I saw deodexed roms in dev section but not for the P6200 Gonna find yours

There would be no problem with the CRT but personally I don't know if anything changes from 3G to WiFi only version.
I guess there should be only differents in build.prop under networks but, just to be 100% sure, you could share your framework-res.apk (as he said).

[Q] Which custom ROM is recommended for me?

Hi all,
I need help deciding which custom ROM to flash to my i9003, but i want one that has full Arabic support and a good camera firmware. If possible, please post images of ROMs you recommend, any help is appreciated
Good camera- gingerbread has dim video recording, so choose a froyo custom rom. Maybe cranium 3.1(I tink its froyo, not sure) and should have Arabic(again, I'm not sure). Check out the android dev section for that rom, and also I believe you can add Arabic patch to any cRom.

hello mate,
Well if you not interested in video record, I suggest for you Cyanogenmod 7 it is so smooth and stable with some issue that can be fixed soon, like video record, apps can't use mic.
this is my chose
and have fun
@bscraze Thanks for your response. Ive been reading a little about Cranium 3.1, and i'm about to flash it but i had a question related to the instructions given by sakindia123:
he says clean flash to XXKPH, so can i flash to JPKP5 instead? it is exactly the same version of gb but just different region (language)
maybe anyone can answer my question without having to start a new thread over it
thanks..

I don't think so, there's no reason not flash to xxkph, unless you're sim locked. If you still want to try, go ahead, I'm not sure weather it will work. If it doesn't you can always reflash, as it will result in a soft brick at most
Sent from my GT-i9003 powered by MIUI
cranium is GB, not froyo. don't flash the rom without upgrading to GB first. (I see that was mentioned that you know it's GB, so just a warning...). in addition, if you haven't seen it yet and you want to use push mail notification, GB has a bug on all ROMs that keeps it from working properly. if you don't need it, then flash away!

Well they both have Arabic patch, just that I'm not sure if its preinstalled in cm7. Cm7 has dsp manager which is good, Poseidon I'm not sure if it has dsp manager. Remember to do a full wipe before and after flashing(for safety) and you may want to flash a custom kernel after that, maybe xda bam or uc kernel, and remember to wipe cache and dalvik before and after flashing the kernel.
Remember that if you can't boot your phone but can access download mode, don't panic, just do a reflash. Eg. Reflash kpq.
PS. I recommend uc kernel v9 2009 or 1009 or 3009 if your phone can handle the overclock. Also, custom roms are definitely better than stock roms have fun flashing

Best GB ROMs?

Peter Alfonso's GPA19 ROM is the most stable one that I tried. Look for Peter Alfonso's site and click the Downloads link for crespo. I would post a link here, but XDA's nonsense won't allow it.
Download the 12-07-11 one to get the latest GB version. There aren't a lot of customizations like CM, Oxygen, MIUI, etc., but it's stable as hell. The latest Oxygen (2.3.2) has a REALLY obnoxious, and largely ignored, backlight notification bug where you have to reboot to get the lights to go out... only way I've ever found to fix it is to install another kernel. However, Peter Alfonso's got one of those too... just go to his site and it should be on the second page of the "blog."
I know you said you didn't like ICS, and I didn't either at first, but Pete's ICS ROMs are also great and very stable. The latest is 01-30-12, and you can get it from the same crespo download page.
question.
hey man i got a question, could i use peter alfonso's rooted stock rom for gingerbread (right?) when downgrading, right? instead of re rooting it.

Wow, really. I don't have any ICS envy seeing how sweet those kangs are. They're smooth as butter and stable too! Checking my phone, my current uptime is 132 hours (5.5 days) since my last reboot, which was to flash the latest kang back then.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. Both of his ROMs are pre-rooted, so no, you won't have to re-/root anything. But since you're going from ICS to GB you'll have to wipe everything, so there's no real "downgrade" path.
From a rooting perspective, the only difference I've noticed, that's kind of annoying, is that his GB ROM contains busybox and his ICS ROM doesn't. It's not a deal-breaker since there are Market apps to add it in, but it's kind of annoying that the binary has to be re-linked after each update/flash.

Im asking that if i can reverted back to gingerbread version without loosing root, may i install his pre-rooted stock without loosing root. Thats all, but since you mentioned it, im relived to revert it back. but i couldnt find his link could you provide me one? Also is it regular to flash it back to gb or is there a special method to do it?
I can't post links yet because our fine friends at XDA say that I need to post more for the privilege. Pfft.
You should be able to type peter alfonso downloads crespo and get to the page. 12-07-11 is the latest GB version (GPA19).
There's no "special" method for flashing, just do what you would do when going from one incompatible ROM to another... wipe data/factory reset, format cache partition, format /system, wipe dalvik cache. There are probably a million different combinations that different people will give you for the proper install, but that's what I normally do.
Tryout CyberGR's CM7 MOD and you won't go back:

AOSP roms if they are the latest build include the newest fixes and updates straight from Google. Also true AOSP roms do not include gapps. Gapps are not open source like Android. That's why they are flashed separately

AOSP roms if they are the latest build include the newest fixes and updates straight from Google. Also true AOSP roms do not include gapps. Gapps are not open source like Android. That's why they are flashed separately

That's weird. I thought nexus 7 was supposed to be stock AOSP Jellybean.
Lucky people with the device. I'm still waiting on mine to ship. 16gb version.
how is this rom running? really smooth and fast? im planning to flash this tomorrow..sounds very appealing to me. pure aosp should mean fast.
Running great for me.
great rom...really smooth and fast.
is it possible to lower the nav bar like how it is in jr5? i think it looks better that way lol.

This is a pure AOSP Rom, and I'm gonna keep it as such unfortunately. However if you wanna rip this Rom apart and edit the nav bar to whatever specs you desire go right ahead, that's why I uploaded this so we can have a stock base Rom to do with as we please.
So given that this aosp does the op know what main differences are between it and the jb that comes with the n7?

Since I have been running it on my n7, I sure hope so....
no man. It same JB but with NO CRAP !!
Faster as hell :highfive:
Well, I didn't try to download the rom, since I can build this just fine at home (and do).
But I did try and grab your gapps, since I was having a hard time finding a gapps package that mirrored my original factory gapps.
But I figured I would let you know your dropbox has been suspended for large activity. Maybe you know, but since it isn't in the OP...
Edit: And if you are selecting option 4 in lunch (userdebug) then root access is included. Are you building 'user'?
Edit2: Looked at the fixed link. eng has root too. So they're gonna be rooted, whether the flash the su or not. Although most builds just go for the userdebug. eng just adds more logging services, FAIK.

Jelly Bean Miui?

Is there by any chance an miui rom based off of jelly bean is in the works for the nexus s?
Not yet. I've been lurking around miui homepage and miuiandroid but says nothing about it. But I'm pretty sure they'd get it out pretty soon.

Yeah, it comes with it's own kernel, but I'm not sure if JB kernels will work with ICS MIUI.

I don't think the guys at MIUI will release their JB ROM until it's near perfect. probably working on it as we speak.

The ROM wouldn't boot if it didn't come with it's own kernel.
EVery ROM comes with its own kernel which will overwrite what ever you have previously. MIUI just had a major theme comp, therefore likely to stay on V4 until at least end of the year. Also, MIUI says that their ROMs or rather the kernel is at 60fps, it should be similar to the smoothness on JB project butter. you won't miss out much if you use MIUI.
Thx for all of your answers, i just installed it... miui kernel doesnt have voodoo sound

you can install 3rd part kernel , just make sure don't use JB kernel on the ICS ROM or otherwise
My inside source is saying we should get JB next week (2.8.24). That said we were supposed to get the sg Note rom 5 weeks before it actually got shipped so grain of salt...
More like bag of salt.

Xxx oops! accidentally beamed from my awesome NEXUS S! xxX
http://miuiandroid.com/community/threads/miui-rom-2-8-17-changelog-and-jellybean.17607/ changelog released and the rom release status pending
MIUI rom is worst rom I ever used... It looks like freaking copy of ios and also very slow. Last time I flashed MIUI ICS to try it for the first time, it broke my radios. I tried flashing another roms but none of the radios were working even on stock roms and I spend so much time trying to fix it manually %&()#@
have a look miui jb
i tried it the memory drain is the same as the ics(xiaomi fix your [email protected]@@ scheduler in order to kill at list 1 up with out the need to slow down like hell and force the user to use the task manager)it work a bit faster thanks to butter but if they don't fix there issues miui will die before the end of the year even in one x(as far as i heard in forums) the rom is slow as hell because of the faulty management system of the rom, the 110-150 mb that are left free in nexus are far from enought to use apps or play heavy games the problem is that after a while the memory goes full on it's own and in the task manager all the apps+the game eat almost 350 mb so where are the other 150mb?
i made a thread, plz post ther
