[Q]Turn WiFi off with Screen [Wifi Sleep Policy] - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have selected the option "Never" in the "Keep WiFi on during sleep" but still my battery history shows a long blue line under "Wifi" regaurdless of the "Screen On" bar.
I tried turning off the "Scan always Available" option too, but the problem still exists.
I problem persists in all the 4.4.2 ROMs I have used, including stock.
Is this a bug? or did I miss something?

Bumping...

I think the function in the Wi-Fi setting had bug. It didn't work for me.
U should use tasker to sleep ur Wi-Fi every screen off. That's what I'm doing.

[APP][4.0+][FREE] WiiiFixer for Jelly Bean - will make your connection stable

I've made this little app because I couldn't tolerate endless wifi disconnections (when a screen is off) on my Galaxy S2 after upgrading to Jelly Bean. I've tried many of wifi-repair apps, but none of them worked for me. This one works. Maybe it will work also for you. It can be also used with ICS.
what wifi problems are you talking about? the one where it disconnects itself after deep sleep?

This app holds wifi and multicast lock. This fixes wifi disconnections for badly written apps which don't hold a wifi lock.

Giving it a try!
Note: the disable notification button takes me to the settings-apps pane, i.e. to force-stop, uninstall, etc. Running 10.1 nightly on an LG P500.

This is expected behavior. Uncheck "show notifications" there and you're done.

Figured that much out. Does this app need/recommend persistent notification to be effective?

It needs to run in foreground and all android apps supposed to run in foreground must use notifications (it's forced by the android compiler). Of course if you switch the notification off (in jb only) it doesn't affect the app in any way.

It might be the WiFi scanning. Go into settings, WiFi then click the menu button and click advanced.
There's an option that's ticked called WiFi scanning that scans for WiFi even with it turned off.
Thank you very much. Problem solved.

N5 Awake - Yours Too?

Anyone else experiencing their N5 in a lot of wake time? My phones been on only 5 hours, but theres a sh*t ton of awake in blue in my battery stats. Would better battery stats be able to identify this better?
Anyone else with a similiar experience?
have you got Wi-Fi set to constantly scan?

WiFi bug? On/off

I was about to upload my screen shots into the battery thread when I realized that my WiFi had been used. But it's been manually turned off since the day I got the phone as you can see. You can check the screen shots. Any one have any ideas?

You have to go into the wifi settings and uncheck the always scan. Its under the advanced wifi settings.
Settings, wifi, advanced, "scanning always available" makes your wifi available for location purposes even if you have it "off" in settings. Do you have this box checked?
Go into WiFi settings and then go to advanced settings and disable "Scanning always available".

Strange, my always scan is off on my n4 and WiFi had been off all day at work. When I got home you could see where it had been on briefly throughout the day, not to concerned but I suspect always scan isn't being disabled fully when it's unchecked?

I had this exact same issue and was going to post on this 'bug'. It can really drain your battery over night! Luckily, unchecking the 'always on' feature under Advanced really did make the timer stop ticking.
Tell me about it. noticed this on 4.3 - its a battery killer
when you first login it says wifi will be scanned and used to better determine location even when off ... I clicked that permission off in my initial loading of the phone...curious if that is the issue?
Anyone have a problem were the music is playing but cant hear it sometimes ?
Mine has the same issue no matter what settings I use.

[Q] home wifi issue

Hey guys,
I need some help with this issue. I am pretty sure it is my home wifi because I don't seems to be having the problem on the works wifi.
so the problem is my device will have slow to no internet connectivity even when i am standing right next to the AP. this is making it to where i don't get any emails and the email app will not let my phone sleep causing major battery drain with the wake lock being "latency" something something. when I get home i will see if i can get a screen shot of it for you.
Any help on this would be nice.
Firstly, give your router a reboot. The whole remove power for 30+ seconds

This^^^.
Then, if you are still experiencing problems, make sure your router's firmware is up to date.

Is your router's firmware up to date? Not to be pushy, but it was the only thing that worked for me.

I've had this problem too. Turns out it's something to do with the carrier/SIM conflicting with the wifi connection. It was suggested that I turn off mobile data while using wifi. Since doing this my speed has never dropped. I've also set up a Tasker profile to turn mobile data off and on automatically.

I shall give it a good, that that is really weird...
Yeah, definitely a strange bug, apparently introduced with KitKat. I tried my O2UK sim in a Moto G and had the same wifi speed drop. My backup Vodafone sim causes no speed drop. Weird indeed.
