Hey guys,
I'm about to preorder this phone. I had the Jiayu G3 last time and it's wonderful! Just wanted to know if any of you knew anything about this device or are planning to buy one too
I'm interested in it, just wondering if there are bugs with them, like battery wakelock drains, glitches here & there, antenna receptions, Tmobile USA compatibility. I'll wait for reviews from actual production units before buying.
All phones has bugs. I'm also interesting. New MTK are amazing

Yes, all software has bugs. But some companies are better than others at testing and making sure they release a quality product.

Best prices I've found are www.chinapadmall.com & www.pandawill.com for $218 basic & $249 advanced versions w/ shipping included.
there are photos in internet with it and the specf..
impressive the it and the price
gtz
The price tag isn't that bad considering the monster that it is.
I just upgraded my S2 to the S3 which I had for almost a year. I'm totally floored by the sheer difference.
Best thing I ever did.

I would only buy one of these chinese devices if there are devs making custom ROMs for it. If not, you are stuck with the official ROM.
Anyway, specs are nice for the price.

There are: http://www.needrom.com/phone-roms/jiayu/g3/
(for g3 at least, for g4 I'm not sure).
I expect it to be of cheap quality, but I was looking for near borderless phones for some years now and this phone seems to be the closest to ideal (it's as big of a screen as s3 but it's almost as small s3, *that's * innovation).

This is a very good ROM for the Jiayu G3. http://www.modaco.com/topic/360776-rom-raw-mod-jb-jiayu-g3-updated1822013
Hello there,
I'm from Spain and I'm participating in a jiayu g4 advanced joint purchase in a known forum.
It seems that in jiayu they have many problems with their supplier Samsung, they will not supply in time the 2 GB Ram chip.
As I have understood, this problem will delay to the middle of may the G4 Advanced production...
Please Note also that Jiayu is a quite small company and for producing G4 they will discontinue the production of G3, so we can forget any official android further updates.
If you like very much flashing new ROM every week, I suggest to yo searching a different device.
Bye bye

That's a shame, for the money this device looks very interesting. It's a shame there aren't more tech journalists in Europe and North America covering devices like this. HTC and Samsung devices suddenly look very expensive indeed but tech sites seem just keep on obsessing over them as if there weren't any other options out there.
I might try and buy one in May once the production situation becomes clear.
Any idea when the 2GB model will hit the market?
It is going to take a while, I guess.

Anyone have JG4 advanced?
After testing a few cheap chinese devices with powerful specs I am a bit dissapointed.
Performance is enough, but all of its touchscreen áre horrible. Touching those screens make you feel like if you were touching something rough. They aren't enough sensitive and accurate for básic usage.
So... Before buying any device, how can we know if that touchscreen is gonna be great? Like Samsung device's for example.
I'm not buying more chinese devices unless I certify they have enough quality in their touchscreens.

well, there is something called "prejudice". i own(ed) several chinese devices and none of them got such issues. i got few samsung devices (galaxy s, galaxy note and s3 mini) for reference. at least i see no difference between usability, handling, responsiveness or other things. also, dont forget that your "premium" devices are from china, too. sure, there are differences in quality, but if you spend 40 bucks for a new android device, it can't be a high quality powerfull device.
btw: im writing this with a toucscreen of Star N9770 with one of the best accuracity i've seen in devices so far.

So far I've owned 2 zte and 1 vsun i5, both zte phones are quality builds and feel solid, the vsun was made of that hard plastic and malfunctioned within a month.

yes, but that can happen on high end devices, too. there is one real problem wit those devices: support. if you got a faulty device, sending back to china is expensive as hell. you can buy on ebay or a local shop too, but they are much more expensive then and i would buy a well known vendor instead. i you want a guarantee for quality, yiu need to buy qauality. same for cars, bicycles,, pc's...
There are some distributors which don't apply you any charges of return shipment. Obviously if the issue appears in the next 2 days to the package arrivement.
However, it doesn't worth it, you áre gonna loose the devices for two months at least.

As I mentioned the vsun malfunctioned. It was from dx deals, I got in touch with them and they said send it back, it turns out that with dx you don't send it back to China but to a drop off address in your own country, it cost me 4 quid to send it back and they have since refunded the phone cost and the return postage, granted its not a quick service due to the distance but I can't praise them enough, the customer service is excellent.
Wasnt sure what section to place this in, but as it's news, I'll leave it here.
In the UK I bought this phone for £599 with the free cover and pen just over a week ago.
Now just thought I'd check how much this bad boy is worth(trade in prices) ....oh dear....one place, offers £100, the rest......£50!!!!
What's going on?
I know there is problems between us and China.....but what the hell??!!?
Where do they sell the mate 20 x voor 100? I'd buy another one.

Don't you worry... It's still by far the best phone out there! Honestly where will you find a phone with the largest screen and battery, Infra red, mpen, the internals of the p30 pro, and a camera to die for?
Still cannot get over this beast of a device!
I paid £799 included the pen and case. It's an awesome phone, Hdr screen, stellar battery life and amazing speaker system... I've considered moving given the uncertainty with Huawei but I look at what's out there isn't a phone with the same specs. I'm not compromising on camera, sound or battery life. Therefore I'm keeping my little pocket rocket. And android 9.1 will be released from 27 June.
599£ wtf?
Here u can get it for 599€, I get one for 499€ and on ebay you can get one for about 400-450€.
This is the price for last 6 weeks.
But there is no way to get it <400€.
I really dont care, i could never ever even thinking to sell this phone.
Still nothing out there that can currently beat it, i just hope they sort out this Chinese ban or i'll be forced to get another phone as won't be able to use Huawei for a work phone.
I'm going to be selling my L29 this weekend with a 128gb nm card, a bunch of cases and I'm also bootloader unlocked.

Speakers are about the same with an ever so slight edge to the 20 X as they are slightly louder and have a little more highs but not by that much. So far the camera quality is the same to me but I haven't had the phone more than a few hours. I'll have to take some comparison shots tonight;

Note 9 is a sham mate it's an abomination. Way too heavy even for me with big hands and love heavy phones. It feels like a cheap Chinese phone with a Samsung badge stuck to it. Think Samsung pulled a fast one here. Note 10 will be innovative and futuristic but note 9 was terrible. This phone is a keeper. Sucks that development is so poor. Glad you came to your senses not even the op7 pro can touch this. This is the best phone I have ever had and I have had them all. XS Max and XR 8plus S10 plus Note 9 NEX S Max 3 Mix 3 to name a few.

In the s9+ you were able to install south America firmware.
But it seems they are getting [email protected] exynos this time too.
Snapdragon only Hk/China, North America, and Korea.
All with some small hardware changes between them that makes impossible to share firmware.
So I think you just can change to China firmwares, wait for some kind of rooting and install lineage os and other rooms or be patient with updates [emoji38]

I will buy the HK version too, but will wait until October.
This first series always have a little % of defects... fog/dust in cam, green tint etc.
My s9+ is HK and now is more or less getting the updates on time, is already in August security patch. I think it's not a big deal Samsung updates anymore.

Yeah..I think Samsung is really trying to compete with Apple and one of the ways it knows it needs to improve is on OS and software support. I always buy unlocked international phones and use to be stuck on stupid waiting for updates and improvements, while other regions got theirs. Not an issue anymore as my current international N10+ has received updates extremely timely. If I hear Samsung released a firmware update, I'm confident that my device will be receiving it soon.
You're more than welcome to wait, it is your hard earned money, plus maybe you'll get a sale in October.. Yet I don't think it's a first series thing... There is always bugs and fixes that the software needs once initially released... I don't expect a flawless software experience from jump, yet it seems manufacturers are quick to release fixes these days... Anything hardware related is a concern, and that's where the warranty comes in... No matter the first or last batch there will always be a % of hardware errors, it's inherit in mass production... I think a lot of intial hardware issues are people investing too much in the issue... 1.3 million N20U were sold in Korea last week, and only a handful reported fogging or dust... Of which they could've just went in and replace their device

All true but , if it's widespread problem they change manufacturing system and solve, HK version not yet on distribution at least in wondamobile and wait and see in Samsung launches is the most prudent thing to do[emoji23]
They launch s20 series in March and only in july/ August they got it fixed at 99% [emoji38]
Anyway I think updates now are on time in any device, that's something they really improve and is working good.

My wife needs a new phone. She has an S7 Edge.
My range is around 200 euros (she breaks the phone too much), so the options are the S8, used with 2 years warranty, or something like a POCO X3 or Redmi 9 Pro.
I will go for the Redmi, but she says they are too big.
What do you think? Is it worth it? I imagine I will need to flash custom rom, is there one that is stable enough?
Thanks!
RN9 with snap 720G or if something smaller then maybe it's better to invest a bit more and get Pixel 4a.

I wouldn't go for custom roms with Samsung, the camera is crap and there are some battery limitations, plus no Always On Display. Those are the reasons that are stopping me from moving to custom.
