Any Quick Toggles Mods Yet? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have always liked the pull-down quick toggles like Samsung and LG feature on their 'skinned' phones. Is there anything available like that for our phone that DOESN'T involve installing a new ROM?
Thanks.

Not that I am aware of as I am using that mod. It just lets you manipulate the toggle panels. Doesn't offer any 'quick toggles' addition to the notification tray.

Ah ok. There are various play store apps to give "notification power widgets" as we used to call it in the HTC desire days

Yeah, I'm familiar with that one. Just not QUITE what I am looking for though.

Sure.
OK, well without a ROM, not a lot else I can think of I'm afraid.

Cataclysm is stock rom with extra toggles options so you wouldn't have to wipe data if that's what you're worried about

I'll have to look into that eventually. I've spent quite a while getting everything just the way I want it. You know how that is.

Have you tried the app "Power toggles"? Its pretty good.

Yes, for some reason it wants to force us to keep a notification icon while we have it enabled AND it's not very intuitive as far as adding/removing toggles. If it weren't for that.....

it lets you add panels and if you long press them, it disables/enables the item you long pressed.

Still don't like the 'ongoing notification' thing. You either have an icon there, or a blank space. I'll see if I can get used to it until something better comes along.

i was talking about the gravity box notification toggles, not the app one.

I've dozens of them. I have to scroll and I've shrunk them. Xposed gravity box is what you need. You can program 2 to what you want

The whole app is a notification. So, if I turn those off, I won't see the toggles either.

You are right about the first part - the notification icon. Because I have a battery icon on the left side of the notification area anyway, I guess it doesn't make a difference to me (since I can have the power toggles icon show the battery level instead).
Adding/removing toggles is fairly easy though - just open the power toggles app, and customize away.
But in the end, what matters is what works for you, and if power toggles doesn't work for you, it doesn't

You can change the notification position to not pinned and no icon. under customize.

Cataclysm got closed because it was just getting non stop replies asking where the dev was, because he basically adds his editions to stock rom and leaves it at that. It even states an update will come when Google release a new version to go off. Some people just want to flash a rom every 3 hours tho or they're not happy

Notification Bar Widgets in Atrix 2

I bought Atrix 2 today.. but there is no widgets in Notification bar similar to Samsung Touchwiz. They are pretty handy. Anyone knows an app for it??

There are a few versions of this notification bar for the Atrix 2. But you have to be on one of the DEODEXED roms to have them. That means, you also need root and CWM Recovery. If you do - I can share a few status bars with you.

Pretty cool. Two comments.
1. Unless I use a white background there will be a white border on two sides as if this app was not made for our screen size. Anybody else see this?
2. Why does a ROM need to be deodexed to use the toggle zips here? Won't they work on stock odexed?
The End.

It would be better if the white screenshot notification wasn't there. Then you would see a small thin line of white along the bottom of the notification app as well as the right side. Make sense?
Here it can be seen more clearly.

To answer number 2... Notification toggles as well as practically every mod required a deodxed phone because in a odexed phone the information in say BlurCamera.apk is split between BlurCamera.apk and BlurCamera.odex This makes it very difficult to find a a specific file you might be looking for (epescially for theming) because it can be anywhere between the two. In a deodexed ROM BlurCamera.apk and BlurCamera.odex is combined, so all the files are in one place and easy to find.

Yup. That damn SystemUI.odex....
You can only edit existing images, xml files - minor theming stuff - in the odexed apks. To edit the smali files (which is needed for heavier mods, like adding the dropdown toggles, power menu options, etc..) you need to deodex...
I have been running on an odexed rom for a while now, and it's quite a bit faster loading and booting.. I managed to tweak it pretty well while leaving it odexed, but I gotta get my pulldown toggles back... still working on that..

Thanks. I do prefer this over the other notification app talked about earlier here. However, it suffers from the same strange 'not fitting' issue. I'm not able to use a black background without the border issue appearing. White background works quite well. It also has more options. The app is a bit buggy and I'd definitely recommend watching the video tutorial. Once setup with what works and what doesn't the app is satisfying enough. Thanks for your post. This is a good alternative to pulldown notifications on the stock odexed ROM.

I use this too, for now.. but it's not convenient to have to tap it twice since the notification in the pulldown are not really toggles, you gotta tap that to get the popup then tap the action that you want. That's why i just keep them on my home page..

Yup...
I think it's because they are not individual toggles, more like just a picture of the toggles as a place holder, and that pic is probably not sized for our phone (just a guess)... or, maybe it's for a scroll bar? can you put a few rows in the notification and scroll? (again, just a guess, I haven't played with this app enough yet)
My guess is its an absolute value in the XML instead of a percentage or floating value. Probably designed without the ATRIX 2's dimensions in mind.

No, as far as I know the app is merely cosmetic. Actual navbar function edits can be done per custom ROM or through some xposed modules depending on what ROM you are running.

If you did the Extreme Power Saver mod, you substituted the Spring messaging app for the Verizon one. I didn't get the missing messages bubble on my last handset when I activated that mod. Not running it on this handset and I get the bubble.
Well, I did do the extreme power mod, but the messaging app doesn't look any different! Is there any way to remove the power mod so I can see if the unread bubble comes back? Thanks for the help!

PLEASE NOTE: Since these Softkeys are targeted at non-root users, the icon for "recent apps" is used instead of the "menu" buttons. This might not please everybody, but if you want me to change it, just request it!
The icons used in the first version for Quickmemo and Notification panel drop-down are grey AOSP ones. If you want the "original" where Recents, back and home are Android L-themed, please look further below.
DOWNLOAD LINKS:
First version where the "menu" softkeys are themed as "recents" - this is mostly for non-root users who'd like the look of stock AOSP, but cannot get the "recents"- button on their navbarhttps://www.sendspace.com/file/hi7vqq
Second version: There was a request for a "normal" one, download that here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/l5j6wiipbzv6z4j/vProAndroidLSoftkeys.apk?dl=0
Changes: Back, Home, Recents, Qmemo and Menu are Android L themed, . Credits for navbar base: @AyDee. Credits for menu and Qmemo icons go to motomoto00. This one is what you would use if you are rooted and have the recent apps button. This one DOES indeed work!
Updated as of November 22.
2.0 (Black Icons on White Background
Download here: https://www.sendspace.com/file/ymykax
Back, Home and Recent buttons are Android L-themed, Qmemo and notification dropdown are custom.
If you have any requests, please let me know!
Installation instructions
After installing the APK, go into "Settings", "Display", "Front Touch Buttons" and lastly go into "Colour". Then either pick AOSP vPro97 Softkeys or AOSP Softkeys (depending on which one you downloaded).
The only way to make these custom icons stick on home screen on a non-rooted device is by disabling transparancy in Settings-Screen-Touch Buttons menu. With a rooted device, install either G2Tweaksbox or G3Tweaksbox depending on which rom you are using. These custom icons work on both G2 roms and G3 ported roms and you can easily uninstall it again.
Possibly an utterly daft question, and I should frankly know better. But, I assume being rooted wont be a problem to having these?
Also, as I use g2 Tweaksbox and xposed and bleed immersive mode etc, would that all work with these icons?
Great softkeys, pls make 'normal' edition where recent is recent button and menu ise menu...

You might have to disable G2 xposed or at least the nav bar options. It seems it overrides the stock front touch button options. In G2 xposed you just load png images of each key and it will not work with the TweaksBox options.
Edit- I haven't used bleed immersive. I was thinking of tinted status bar option in TweaksBox which works the same. Not sure how it will work with BIM...
Disabled the nav bar settings and tried installing again. Took me to the buttons menu in settings. They werent there to choose, will prob leave it for now, am just getting impatient for L already ha ha.

[GUIDE] Get Reachability (IOS8 feature) on android

If you have followed the publicity about the new iPhone, you have probably seen the Reachability feature and thought, "that would be neat on my 5.5inch super-mobile".
If you have never heard about "Reachability", this is what it's about:
With new features like Reachability you can interact with the larger screen in different ways, too. Simply double touch the Home button and the entire screen shifts down closer to your thumb.

Well here is some good news for you: it isn't that hard.
WHAT YOU NEED:
Rooted phone
Xposed framework and the One-Hand Mode module (Premium is best, to get it to work properly)
Tasker or a launcher that allows you to use gestures.
PROCEDURE:
Install xposed, if you haven't already, and the OHM module (follow their instructions)
Activate the module
Restart
Now to activate the functionality:
I have set the OHM module to move the the screen 700 pixels from the top.

Then I used Tasker to make a profile where an up-down shake will activate the One-Hand Toggle app.
If you use a launcher which allows for gestures you can also use these to activate the Toggle App.
This is what it looks like when it works:
SHAKE and voila:
(screen shots will be added later. Details will be added if asked for)

You're right, it isn't too much to ask, but the OP hasn't done that so a better usage of your time probably would have been just to look it up. I wasn't 'being like that' anyway, it was said in jest.

YouTube 'ios8 reachability' and stop wasting OP's time. We all know what it is by looking it up ourselves. A simple video will explain to you in sec.
Is it only in launcher?

If you have followed the publicity about the new iPhone, you have probably seen the Reachability feature and thought, "that would be neat on my 5.5inch super-mobile".
If you have never heard about "Reachability", this is what it's about:

I'm not sure I understand the question. Did you mean whether this feature unly works with one Launcher? Or that it only works with the launcher, and not in apps?
To answer accordingly: I have only tried this in one launcher, but i see no reason why it shouldn't work with all launchers. It does work in apps (if not, what would be the point, right?), though not so well in "full screen" apps.
pie control
Pie control works better for me I find... Using the Oneplus
Also if you have nova launcher, you can add 'Nova Actions' to your homescreen that are essentially shortcut icons ie. for the status bar or notifications

Yea I agree, Pie is the way for me too. I had Note 2 and 3 and never used "One Hand Mode". I just always thought there had to be an easier way to turn it on and off. Same here
this feature is already there in colour os
Color os is the best i love it
Gestures?
I've been trying to use the gesture to toggle the OHM. Any ideas?

Samsung's New Notification/Lockscreen App

Hey all.. I don't think I've seen a post about this so I thought I'd be the first to give you all a heads-up on Samsung's new lock app called Good Lock. It's a fairly new app and I'm sure they'll make improvements. It pretty much changes your lockscreen, notifications tray, and recent tabs. Let me know what you think of the app.
**Apparently some rooted users are having various problems (constant reboot and randomly uninstalls itself), so keep that in mind...
You can download this in the Galaxy App store

Saw this earlier today, haven't downloaded yet. Are your icons a previous theme or are they from this new Good Lock app?

The white outlined icons are from the theme store

I downloaded this today, and so far I like it! I wasn't sure at first, but the more that I use it, the more I enjoy it.
I like the new notifications menu. Looks a lot like stock Android. Wish u could use a custom lockscreen wallpaper, but besides that, it's pretty cool! I'm surprised that Samsung created something like this.
To answer your question, I'm pretty sure that those icons are from a previous theme. I haven't found any icon customization with this app
I tried the app, but it uninstalled itself after a bit playing around with it. It looked better than the stock lock screen and notification area (although I don't like the colours) and I'd like to keep the app. Is there a way to prevent that the app is automatically uninstalled?
In Nova Launcher pulling notification bar down is not flawless if you use gesture...
Just a warning that it doesn't work with rooted devices. I made the mistake of installing it on my rooted S7 and it caused constant reboots.
I've also uninstalled in for ithe time being because it didn't work with my Samsung led case. it kept asking for location. I've never had the uninstall problem or reboot problem. you can change the lockscreen by going to Samsung settings. I really hope they polish the app a bit more.

So far, I'm liking Good Lock. just a couple weird things. Looks like you no longer can customize the quicksettings tiles, and the recent apps switcher is much better, but if you use the button to bring it up and dismiss it (also using the button) then it goes to the Home App instead of the app I was in.

Are you rooted? If not, that explains why the reboot issue would never have happen for you.
Downloading now.
I tried it and uninstalled within minutes. The recent apps is horrible - separate chrome tabs are now nameless icons making it useless to find the tab you wanted, and I like having a preview of the open apps. Also, as mentioned, the MM notification draw pulldown bug in Nova is present, which drives me insane. And no lockscreen wallpaper choices, no thanks. The only reason I'd want to use it is the more stock android look, and that you can finally double tap a notification on the lockscreen to open it, which should be a thing on the current lockscreen anyway.

You select your wallpaper just as before from your phone settings/display and wallpaper.
So far I think I'll keep the Good Lock

I've also uninstalled it for the time being. I think they'll release a more stable version and probably get rid of the recent apps lol.

Hi there Sir Eagle. Could you upload the apk to dropbox or any? Seems like I can't download it through the GStore. Must be a country thingy.
