[GUIDE] Get Reachability (IOS8 feature) on android - Android Apps and Games

If you have followed the publicity about the new iPhone, you have probably seen the Reachability feature and thought, "that would be neat on my 5.5inch super-mobile".
If you have never heard about "Reachability", this is what it's about:
With new features like Reachability you can interact with the larger screen in different ways, too. Simply double touch the Home button and the entire screen shifts down closer to your thumb.

Well here is some good news for you: it isn't that hard.
WHAT YOU NEED:
Rooted phone
Xposed framework and the One-Hand Mode module (Premium is best, to get it to work properly)
Tasker or a launcher that allows you to use gestures.
PROCEDURE:
Install xposed, if you haven't already, and the OHM module (follow their instructions)
Activate the module
Restart
Now to activate the functionality:
I have set the OHM module to move the the screen 700 pixels from the top.

}
Then I used Tasker to make a profile where an up-down shake will activate the One-Hand Toggle app.
If you use a launcher which allows for gestures you can also use these to activate the Toggle App.
This is what it looks like when it works:
SHAKE and voila:
(screen shots will be added later. Details will be added if asked for)

Explanation of what this "reachability feature" thing is would help a lot lol.

Adding a quick summary regarding the functionality of which the thread is about isn't too much to ask. No need to be like that about it...

You're right, it isn't too much to ask, but the OP hasn't done that so a better usage of your time probably would have been just to look it up. I wasn't 'being like that' anyway, it was said in jest.

Is it only in launcher?

I'm not sure I understand the question. Did you mean whether this feature unly works with one Launcher? Or that it only works with the launcher, and not in apps?
To answer accordingly: I have only tried this in one launcher, but i see no reason why it shouldn't work with all launchers. It does work in apps (if not, what would be the point, right?), though not so well in "full screen" apps.

pie control
Pie control works better for me I find... Using the Oneplus
Also if you have nova launcher, you can add 'Nova Actions' to your homescreen that are essentially shortcut icons ie. for the status bar or notifications

Yea I agree, Pie is the way for me too. I had Note 2 and 3 and never used "One Hand Mode". I just always thought there had to be an easier way to turn it on and off. Same here

this feature is already there in colour os
Color os is the best i love it

Gestures?
I've been trying to use the gesture to toggle the OHM. Any ideas?

[APP][WIDGET]Mission Control

[Updated]
Added button to change ringer state: Silent, Vibrate, Normal
NOTE: You cannot change ringer/notification levels with the widget if ringer state is in Silent or Vibrate. You will notice the icons fade out.
Enjoy!
Hey everyone. I developed a small widget to quickly change volume levels for media, ringtone, notification, and alarm. I find myself wanting to turn media volume on/off all the time, and I couldn't find a good solution in the Market, so I made my own.
You can download it from the Market. Just search for Mission Control. There is an SD version (G1, Hero, etc), and an HD version (Evo, Nexus, etc).
If you guys find any bugs or have suggestions for it, just let me know. This is my first Android app, so please be gentle.

This is pretty nice. The sound board to the right doesnt work for me on the EVO. What is it supposed to do?
Nice, could you use some iPhone icons by any chance?
Nice handy little app. I just downloaded from the market and put it on one of my panels. I like the three level toggles. this will be great when at the theater or a meeting and want to turn everything off really quick.
Thanks for the app!

The control panel is non-functional at the moment. My plans are to use it to allow a user to fully customize a button to do anything they want, along with choosing any icons they want as well.

I looked around for some good iPhone-style icons, but couldn't find any that I liked. I'll continue to search and see what I can come up with.
Only other thing I would like to see, is when you press one of the toggles that it changes your phone settings to vibrate, silent, etc.

GREAT looking app! Only problem, when using it (HD) with launcher pro (on EVO), the widget gets disbled when going into cascade mode. i don't know if it has anything to do with my phone having "Sense" banned (using DC 3.2.3) or the devopment of the widget just doesn't have cascade support yet.

Widget locker...any good?

Hi,
Has anyone been using this app on the Nexus S?
I only came across it after I saw the multiple icons on the lockscreen on one of the advertised themes.
Reviews on other sites suggest that there is a lag issue and other errors...none of them seem to be on the Nexus S.
Comments please.....

You can add up to 10 shortcut keys on the unlock screen. So, top left corner is camera, top right camera is LED flashlight, left middle is notes, right middle is google voice, bottom left is unlock andd buttom right is to silence it.
Oh and you can add widgets on the screen so i added a calendar widget.
I love this app and its really worth the money, being able to access some of these apps right from the screen is real convinient, especially the camera and flash light.
The only issue i've run into is that if you turn it on and off real quick, it will show the stock slide to ulock screen, and sometimes it will go back to the original slide to unlock screen, at this point you would just click on widget locker again to start it up.
Overall great app!
Better yet I'll post a video to give you an idea

Also, it is a known issue that this app will not work along side NoLed.

Also, if you notice in the vid, when I turn it on from sleep mode, it shows the stock slider, thats because turn it off and on within 3-5 seconds, it will show the stock slider.
Cheers for that i'm sold.
Just downloaded it.
Awesome!
Thanks a lot. Just downloaded it.

I would recommend widgetlocker. One of my favorite android apps

Just wanted to let you guys know that my primary phone is a Nexus S. So the coming update is definitely well tested on this phone
Also I've been talking to the dev of NoLED trying to resolve the conflict between the two apps. Not solved yet though.

I had the issue when I was using CM7 nightly ROm with Netarchy 1.2.2 kernel. But I was also having other issues such as the lockscreen spontaneously coming on and off. The lockscreen on/off was happening even when i disabled widget locker . so I dont think it was the app.
Since I flashed another kernel, it seems to have resolved.
Hope that helps.

Any Quick Toggles Mods Yet?

I have always liked the pull-down quick toggles like Samsung and LG feature on their 'skinned' phones. Is there anything available like that for our phone that DOESN'T involve installing a new ROM?
Thanks.

Not that I am aware of as I am using that mod. It just lets you manipulate the toggle panels. Doesn't offer any 'quick toggles' addition to the notification tray.
Ah ok. There are various play store apps to give "notification power widgets" as we used to call it in the HTC desire days

Yes, for some reason it wants to force us to keep a notification icon while we have it enabled AND it's not very intuitive as far as adding/removing toggles. If it weren't for that.....

You are right about the first part - the notification icon. Because I have a battery icon on the left side of the notification area anyway, I guess it doesn't make a difference to me (since I can have the power toggles icon show the battery level instead).
Adding/removing toggles is fairly easy though - just open the power toggles app, and customize away.
But in the end, what matters is what works for you, and if power toggles doesn't work for you, it doesn't

You can change the notification position to not pinned and no icon. under customize.
Cataclysm got closed because it was just getting non stop replies asking where the dev was, because he basically adds his editions to stock rom and leaves it at that. It even states an update will come when Google release a new version to go off. Some people just want to flash a rom every 3 hours tho or they're not happy

[DEV][NEED USER FEEDBACK] Ultimate Edge Panel

Hi guys!
As a developer and fan of the beautiful edge screen, I was learning about the add-on edge panels available, and came up with this idea.
I request the community to provide me some quick feedback on my idea:
Would you like to have an Ultimate Edge Panel, which will let you add any widget that you can add to your homescreen, to the edge? Initially, any one widget could be added (say, Google Fit Widget, Messaging widget etc.)
As a S7 Edge user, do you think it's a great idea? Do you know of any add-on Edge panel which already lets you do it?
Please let me know, based on the feedback, I might have a prototype for you guys very soon.
Cheers!
Update: Looks like there is already a panel which does exactly that, it's called "Widget edge panel". Thanks everybody for pointing it out. I am still exploring the particular panel to know if I could further innovate on it and if it would be worth developing a new panel from scratch. Open to suggestions.
That's a great idea!
I don't use -any- of the edge features today. Would activate it again for something like this.
Excellent idea. Maybe an aroma with choice?

I see no way or sharing a link.
When u go into edge and click on download that is where u can search for it.
It allows u to add any widget but u cannot resize. So without resizing it's pretty useless.

The idea is great. I achieved kind of the same thing with a combo of glovebox as sidebar launcher and popup widget. Does exactly that. Only flaw is that you cant swipe between widgets but on the other hand you choose exactly what you need each time no need to swipe multiple times to get where you want.
Just tried the one mentioned earlier, as pointed out without the ability to resize it's not very useful...
If there was an edge panel where I could have the full length google now widget I'd be a happy bunny.

Cheers!

Thanks for the link, however looks like it's not really a panel which lets you add 'widgets'.
As pointed earlier by a few, I found the particular add-on panel in the store, looks like it's exactly what I thought it should be. It's called 'Widget Edge Panel' on the store.

I see. I will explore the particular panel further to know if it would really be worth the time to develop a new panel from scratch.
