There is a problem with the bottom right corner edge of the screen of my nexus 5 relative to holding the phone in portrait mode. A few pixels in that corner flickers different color when in motion like when I am swiping the home screen to another screen. It is more noticeable if you use the specific stock wallpaper that has the mountains with the pink/purple background. The bottom right corner of the wallpaper is dark colors so it is noticeable when you see the few pixels display different bright colors when you swipe screen to screen.
I have RMA twice already and all 3 nexus 5 seem to have that hot pixel flickering problem at the bottom right corner edge.
I am starting to be convinced that all nexus 5 have the problem and not going to bother to do another RMA again.
Mine doesn't have that problem. And you seem to be the first around here.

all the nexus 5 that I found the problem are white nexus 5 32gb with batch 312K.
I've noticed one pixel in the same corner sometimes doing this with certain backgrounds or full screen videos, but now I only see it if I look for it and no longer use those backgrounds.
It is interesting that you've had 3 different 312k models with this. Mine is a day one white 32Gb.

ya that is the same problem that I have with all the white nexus 5 I have used so far. Anything that has darker colors near that bottom right corner and moving will cause that hot pixel effect.

So I just got black nexus 5 and this one doesn't have the hot pixel problem that I had with the 3 white nexus 5 before.
I noticed Pink Streaks yesterday after owning the phone for 6.5 months. It only appears on a dark or black screen (for instance navigation buttons on the bottom of phone) I am actually on the phone with Google right now, I bought it from google. Do not go to LG with the issue. They will ask you to ship the phone with a 7-10 turnaround to fix it. I will post again in a bit once I have a resolution from this Google Rep that I am on the phone with.
Make sure to have your Order number from Google and your IMEI number available. You can get your order number from your Google Wallet account.

And Google being amazingly accommodating is sending me a brand new phone and asking to send the only one back. Excellent.
I used this link to begin the process. You enter your phone number and it calls you. That was a fantastic Customer Service call.

I just started using the Expanded Desktop MOD (No Navbar) and noticed that the bottom 8-10mm of the screen has a yellowish tint which isn't really visible on dark backgrounds like the Navbar.
It's clearly visible in apps that use the light theme such as Chrome, Hangouts.
The easiest way to check would be to open the Google keyboard in reverse landscape mode (volume buttons facing upwards) and compare the color from edge to edge.
Fortunately, my N5 doesn't have the overall yellow tint issue which my friend's N5 does and a lot of users have mentioned here.
My question is, is there anyone who has a perfect device? No overall yellowish screen and no uneven colors issue that I have.
I don't want to go through a bunch of RMAs and never get a perfect screen.
Please check your phone's keyboard in reverse landscape mode and post if you see this issue or if the colors are uniform.
Thanks.
My screen has a very slight yellow tint too at the bottom 10mm (the rest is fine, no yellow tint), but it is minor.

It's bad quality control if that's the case. I've had it for almost a month so don't think it's going to get better.
Anyone else has this issue?
I've got an N5 32GB that doesn't have the yellowish tint to the screen. Out of the few people I know that have N5's, none of them have that problem. I am wondering if the slight shadow effect is what is being referred to int his thread. Both the top and bottom have a slight shadowing effect on the edges of the screen with the Google Experience launcher. I haven't checked to see if you can turn this off but you can in Nova Launcher. When I get in from work, I'm going to round up some backgrounds to check. If anyone has any they think illustrate the issue best, please post them and I'll check back and try them with my device. For now, I recommend trying the Nova Launcher and turning off the shadowing to get a clear idea of what is going on with the edges of the screen.
Edit: Using Google Search and Hangouts, I don't see any yellowish anything on the edges of my screen regardless of the orientation. I also asked a co-worker to have a look as well and he didn't see any variation in the screen color on the edges, yellow or any other. The launchers I tried was Nova Launcher beta3 and the Google Experience launcher. Both yielded the same results.
Edit 2: It should be noted that I am not using the Expanded Desktop Mod and my ROM is stock with root and CWM for recovery.

Yes, i have this issue too. It is my second N5 (first one was a RMA) and i noticed it at the weekend when i flashed Purity ROM and checked a blank website using Chrome with Immersion/Expanded desktop mode enabled. Hmm. Besides that, my second Nexus 5 is near than perfect and basing on my research it is possible, that is glue that has to harden out - so it could disappear some day....? I don´t want to RMA it a third time.
I have also noticed, that the spot is getting stronger when the Nexus is on heat, e.g. with benchmarking or gaming. Weird. But that could be subjective.
I think i will have a look how it goes and than i will decide how to proceed.

Are you all still with first batch phones? I had a 16GB (black) 310k that I sold once my 311k 32GB (black) arrived. I didn't have any issues with the 310k either but it seems a lot more people have had various issues with the 310k over anything later.

Thank you for your help. I think, I will have a look at and see how it goes.
Was your whole screen yellowish, or like mine I a small area?
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 5 mit Tapatalk
I run Immersion Mode and yes the bottom where the keys were have a yellow tint
Same issue here, but mine has almost fixed itself with just using it today. Device has been used for less than a week. I'm hoping what little is still there corrects itself too. Was driving me nuts. It's all I noticed. I attribute it to the glue curing.

Yes, i am looking and searching for it every time i use the phone.. And yes, that is something that drives one nuts.
I will give it a go like i stated before, and when it is not getting better, i will ask Google for a replacement.
I have taken a photo, i hope you can see it..
Hi TR2N,
It has been a while since your post, but did your yellow tint on the top of your screen ever fade or did you eventually RMA or just live with it? I am dealing with the same issue and the tech at Google never heard about anything related to glue drying.
Thanks,
Jason

I did but the replacements had the same issue and were more yellow overall.
I've had my original phone this whole time. The yellow tint eventually goes away as you keep using it and the glue dries up.
Question is in the title. I am wondering if I should return or not, since I shove some papers in the gap between the power and volume buttons and they might see that when they open up the phone.
Also, the haze is right under the navigation bar, which makes it almost invisible. The only time I see it is when I am on Immersive Mode on Cataclysm ROM and the background is white.
I am not referring to the yellow tint issue, because the whites are all good, except for the bottom part.
Do you guys also have this problem and do you know what it is and how to fix it?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I do have the exact same problem, and thinking of returning but the gsm where i bought the phone has a really bad reputation warranty wise. Some people get back their phones 2 months later and the guys in the gsm are all bald fat money-laundering assholes.
I too use immersive mode regularly and its really not nice on the otherwise awesome display
Pictures, please?
Yes I have this also. Just noticed it while using the Google Play books app. Without immersive mode it probably wouldn't be noticeable. I am probably just going to live with it at this point unless most people can confirm that their phones to NOT exhibit this behavior.
Yes I also have a yellow glow at the bottom of my phone. I did an RMA and the replacement had the same glow. I wonder if its glue or if these displays are just not on par. Makes the screen look like its discolored on the bottom end. It is very noticeable in chrome on the address bar in landscape mode.

Exact same issue with me. Got my phone late April and starting noticing it a couple of weeks ago. I got it through T-Mobile in the US, and I'll stop by a store later this afternoon to figure out how to handle it (not sure if they will replace, RMA, or what).

Just got my 32GB Nexus 5 from Google Play. As the title suggests, there is some backlight bleed in the upper left hand corner as some others have reported. No other issues I can see though. I am still deciding whether to RMA. It is noticeable only really on dark backgrounds. Have you have this issue? Would you/did you RMA it?

Nope. That's way too tiny to RMA. All IPS screens have some amount of light bleed. And if that's the only issue, you don't want to get more

Hi yerbamata, that's certainly not the worst bleed I've seen but it looks like it could be fairly distracting. Now of course on lower brightness it isn't going to be as noticeable, but it's completely up to you whether it's acceptable or not as Google will accept RMA if you're not happy.
More importantly, are those 3 stuck pixels near the middle of your screen?

Good eye, I had to go back and check again. Those must be artifact from my old camera I used to take the picture. I checked again and definitely no dead/stuck pixels. But I do notice the backlight bleed when I pull down the google menu thing from the top (don't know what it's called), using the calculator, etc. So I guess I'll have to give it a week and see if I get used to it.
How common is this issue? It seems fairly common from what I've read, almost as if you're in the minority if you get one without bleed.
Also does anyone know how long Google accepts an RMA after initial delivery?
Thanks
Before you RMA, just know that every Nexus 5 I have seen in person has the slight light bleed at the top left corner.
This also coincides with the majority of the users on here.
I would save the trouble and just enjoy your phone. It's a great device.
Sent from my Nexus 5
It's common around the volume buttons but to widely various degrees. For me it's more noticeable at the bottom left where the black navigation bar is always lurking, but only when the brightness is cranked realistically. There were a few posts from people who had their top left corner lit up like a spotlight.
You can RMA your device during the 1 year warranty, and Google will cross ship you a new device so you're not without a phone though temporarily charging you for it. People have used this as an opportunity to inspect and compare the new device before returning whichever they choose.
I'd say some are taking advantage of this somewhat trying to get a "perfect" device, but if you're not happy with the phone Google is willing to work with you.
I got my S8+ just 2 days ago and didnt use it on 1st day coz I dont have a case and screen protector for it yet. 2nd day of having it, I started setting it up with Apps, my infos and adjusting the settings to maximize the battery life of it. Usually I start with a black theme and a black wallpaper. So with all the darkness of the screen I did, didn't notice this until now when thinking and Google searching on how can I make Bixby on a darker or black theme. So now I got focused on it's lighter screen, I started noticing the corners and those 2 lumps which I circled in the picture upper right corner of the screen and weird line on the screen running end to end horizontally. Really obviously visible when on Bixby screen or on google search bar.
Just want to confirm if I'm the only one have this issues or it's just normal. Thinking of bringing it back asap.
Thanks.

There is another thread of another user same thing but oposite side. Argued me that its not a dead pixel. Thats what it looks **** to me as well but hey i dont knkw anythin...
Thanks for the inputs guyz, will definitely bring this one back and ask for an exchange.
Weird is the line doesn't show anymore but the 2 lumps are still there. Will pass by first at the Samsung store in the mall today and compare mine to their demo and maybe ask some questions as well.

Had this on my S7 Edge, and I got this a few months after rooting so I couldn't even get it fixed. A few of my friends also have gotten this issue on their S7 phones after a few months.
It is definitely a group of dead pixels. I would get it exchanged.
Some people already have their devices so I wanted to know about the build quality and any problems with it.
I'm interested in the screen quality, especially any issues like the red/pink tint that affected many HTC 10 panels last year. Hopefully HTC has improved in this area.
Another issue with the HTC 10 (at least the units I tried) was a very loud vibration motor which made haptic feedback pretty annoying in quiet places (library, office, etc.), is this happening with the new phone?

I've no issues and very happy so far (day 3).
Quality is superb just like my HTC 10.
The screen has no noticeable tints and the quality is great. The screen is brighter than the HTC 10 and photos and video are fantastic when viewed on it. Viewing outside is better than the HTC 10, and the screen can be viewed in portrait with polarised sunglasses (unlike many phones and the HTC 10.
The haptic feedback on my HTC 10 is a little too strong for sure, but this U11 is less obtrusive and I think about right.
All in all, it's a good upgrade from the HTC 10, has great build quality, and I think it's great - very happy.
PhoneArena review mentioned a build issue, but it might only affect pre-production devices:
"On the two U11 handsets we examined during this review, each had one edge where the phone's back glass met the metal frame and there was a pronounced sharpness to the transition – while the other side was perfectly smooth. But with each phone we looked at, this sharp edge was on a different side – just not very consistent. "
Please tell us there won't be any of the dreaded yellow tinted screens?! It took me 3 HTC 10's to finally get a good one.
my one is same as M10 last year
red tint screen since the auto brightness is below around 60%
Thanks for the input guys, I just ordered my U1 1 and will comment on the build quality when I get it.
Very few reviews and owners seem to be mentioning tint issues so apparently this is not as much of a problem as last year.
I think it has some build issues (gaps between the frame and the glass) more than a tint issue.

That's good but I was asking for people that may have build issues. Mine is on its way back to HTC.
Every phone I've had (all HTC) have all had loud vibrators come the 12 month mark.
What I do find bothersome though is when starting up the camera it skips and shudders so bad it's unusable. I'm on my 2nd device (first one literally all of a sudden had an entire screen length crack under the glass) and both have had the same issue. Really hoping HTC fixes soon.

Mine is the 6 GB RAM version and I've issues with the screen. Near the bottom border there's an abnormal pixel (it changes according to the color but is bigger than the rest) and there're some shadows at bottom border from left to right, similar to light bleeding issue. Thankfully both defects are at bottom and they're no so visible but it still bothers me. I can return the device to Hong Kong in order to receive a new one but what happen if defective pixel is at the center of the screen? It can be worst.

It's like the video. Take a look at the left bottom part of the phone. There are some shadows, the light is not uniform. Look at this carefully as the problem appears only few seconds.
Anyway the store acceded to give me a 10% discount for the flaw as sending back from Chile to Hong Kong is a PITA.
Apart of screen issues the phone totally worth the upgrade in comparison with HTC 10. It's better than S8+ too. I returned an S8 because it was restarting randomly. I should say that S8 screen, at least my unit had a pinkish tone at bottom and superior border and also at both edges. It wasn't a zero flaws screen too.

A power button that moves a little. I don't know....doesn't bother me, that's all. Not many power buttons are completely sturdy, unless they don't protrude as much.

Every U11 I've seen in reviews (and my own) has this problem, a white background is never uniform at the bottom of the screen, so it was wise not to ask for a replacement and accept the discount lol

Yes, apparently most if not all HTC U11 have this "light bleeding" issue. Anyway, I take the 10% discount due to the defective pixel I've and that the upper speaker is not as clear as HTC 10. It sounds good but it has a little background noise during calls (Skype, WhatsApp and normal calls). Even with those issue it's an excellent phone and the best from HTC so far. It's superior to S8+ in my opinion and I owned both devices.
For the screen issues please look at the pictures I'm attaching.
