[Q] Headphones problem/bug? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hello, so this started some time ago (long), when i plug in my headphones and start playing music, after some time, completely random, my phone turns the headphones into (as i assume from the icon) a headset with a mic in it and starts either calling the last called contact or turns on google talk. Also whenever this happens usually the volume tends to lower itself also.
I'm using factory settings, no new roms, just restored into factory everything from scratch, that bug is still there, no additional apps. Also it doesn't matter which player i use, used winamp now i used google play...
Much obliged in advance

What is your rom.

Using phillips headphones, don't have the box so i can't identify them atm, anyways, noticed that when i'm using the VLC player, and only when i leave it turned on and not minimized, the bug becomes less frequent, so i guess that's a software issue?
Obviously when i had the htc earphones this did not happen.

If your headphones have a little control piece for answering calls or volume this is probably your problem as most of them are designed to control iPhones they don't work and cause your phone to do some funky things and drain battery like crazy

sound from phone speaker but using headphones

Sometimes when I unplug my headphones then let the phone sit for a couple minutes/hours then plug the headphones back in, the phone does not play the sound through the headphones but still through the phone's speaker. The only way I get to fix this is to reboot. Anyone else?

I haven't experienced this issue. It could possibly be related to using a custom rom (that's if your using one) or the headphones your using could possibly have a short in the wire causing the phone to turn glitchy. Try different headphones or try a different rom if your rooted and not on the stock rom and see what happens.

Thanks for the reply. I'm rooted but run stock, if that helps any with resolving this problem...

Your welcome. Have you tried another headphone? Are you using voodoo or dsp manager? Are you on the stock music player or 3rd party? If so which one? The only time I ever experienced an issue similar to yours is when I downloaded a bunch of 3rd party music players at once to test them all out and after like playing two or three of them my sound stopped and I had to reboot to recover sound.

X2 I had a similar issue where using headphones the speaker would not work after unplugging the headphones. Turned out it was app that I had just installed.

Yeah, it most likely is a 3rd party app that he's using.

Problem with nonoriginal headphones!

I bought an in-ear headphones. But sometimes phone thinks that these headphones are with mic. And the most annoying thing is when phone starts to call last number.
What should I do now? Is it normal? Anyone else had this before?
I have coredroid rom.

Yeah I've had this before as well, I tend to just pull it back out and plug it back in but not like all the way in and it's fine. Seems like a strange little bug.

I'm doing just like you. As its not only for me I will cut wires from headphones and solder in-ear headphones with original ones, and I will have my comfortable headphones and music control.

Too late, I already modified my headphones, and guess what! Now output power is so powerful that with volume at half is loud enough to me.

Nice one, maybe I should consider soldering

Quiet Playback, I guess

When I play music through the auxiliary to my car its much quieter than say the radio or my iPod. For example, ill have the car volume set at about 35 for iPod or radio and its loud. Plug in my phone with the same volume and its real quiet, need to turn it up to 45-50 to get the same loudness. It does this with multiple roms and different players. Its just hardware related I guess. Can anyone shed some light on why this happens.

I have the same problem, I connect through usb and get much louder playback than through aux

Anyone have an idea about why this happens

what rom/kernel setup do you currently have? I would say try a different kernel and see if it has volume boost. PlayerPro also has a DSPpack that has an EQ, so you can raise the preamp and boost your volume
It could just be the phones internal amp. Since its louder through USB that means that your car stereo is taking the file and running through the cars amp instead of the phones

It does this on anything through auxiliary not just my car so I'm not sure if that's the problem.
I do use playerpro. The thing is that I want to find a true solution to this not a workaround like an app

Headphone jack stopped working?

Has anyone else found that their headphone jack has randomly stopped working? I'm on the CM10 ROM, but I'm not sure that it makes a difference.
Then go back to stock and try that....

That happens to me when I have my tpu case on... The spacing for the jack doesn't have enough slack.

I've had 2 scares...all caused by failing headphones. This jack seems very sensitive to any electrical flaw in cheap headphones.
Cm10 for me has had issues with the headphones. I'm on aokp cm10 and the headphones are almost fixed. Still have an issue if I reboot with the headphones connected. Jb ROMs are still quite new for our phone. It hasn't even been officially released for our phone and the work that the developers have been doing is phenomenal. Gibe it some time and we'll be really stable.

Just had it happen to a nephew on a Vivid, told him to do a hard reset and the Jack came back to life.
HTC One S TmoUS
Never any issues on mine. Sense 4.1. I got an expensive pair of Beats that give a nice click and stick in very well. God FORBID my Katy Perry gets played out loud through my external!
I now have this issue with Baked Blackbean ROM after installing the AC!D Audio. I haven't used my jack in a long time cause I normally use bluetooth so I'm not sure when and how this issue happened. I guess I will wait til the next update and check it after a clean flash.
***EDIT***
Here is a headphone fix I found for Baked Blackbean 7
Try SoundAbout on Google Play, others have said this fixes the problem...

Don't forget to set lpa.decode to 'false' in the build.prop if it's not already.

Music Volume Issue...

So I bought the Ultra yesterday. The speaker sounded great at first. Tonight I started a song on Google Music and it was loud at first. Then it seemed to autocorrect the volume. The volume is now the same between half and full. I cannot get it to turn up any louder and it is pretty quiet.... About half of what my S3 could put out.... This is between both the Pandora and Google Music apps. Is anyone else having this issue? Is there a setting I am not seeing to turn this "feature" off?

try a different app then you will know if its the phone or the app.
for what it's worth I've had google play music do weird things with the volume on some songs. (not a droid phone)
So I called VZW tech support last night and they told me to take the phone back and get a new one. And it also started doing it on speaker phone too.
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Isn't the phone supposed to do that? I believe I read somewhere the phone adapts to how you listen to songs... Will look for the article.
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I did a factory reset and that seemed to fix it for a while. Music played normally for about 6 hours then it randomly started cutting the volume level again. It gets so quite it sounds like the volume is only at 10-15%. I went to Verizon and couldn't get it to reproduce the effect in front of the agent. They said to come back if it keeps happening.
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I honestly believe that the phone is supposed to do that. It supposed to adapt to your listening preferences. I can't find where I read it but I will.. Just return it before your 14 days are up and see if the new one does the same. They shouldn't charge you.

Turn off the equalizer and surround under Sound > Audio Effects
Effects Profile: custom
Surround: off
Equalizer: off
Soooo.... sometimes it has no volume at all. I tried suggestion from the post above and it didn't seem to help. Too bad I really like the 5" screen. I think I going to return it and buy the Moto X instead though.

My volume does weird things using Google Play music as well. I was walking yesterday and had it on full volume. Never had it that way on any other device.
Past Moto phones have had a "High volume can harm your ears" warning that turns down your music unless you shut it off. Maybe that remnant of Blur stuck around and needs to be disabled somehow? Just a thought.

i do get a message that says that when i'm listening to bluetooth audio and go to turn the volume up on the phone. but, knock on wood, it still lets me turn the volume up.
edit: actually it looks like this: http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-4/229041-how-do-i-disable-unsafe-volume-warning.html - so if it happens on a NEXUS, then it's not motorola, it's Google (oh wait i forgot, they are motorola...and all of freaking android)
