Has anyone else found that their headphone jack has randomly stopped working? I'm on the CM10 ROM, but I'm not sure that it makes a difference.
Then go back to stock and try that....

That happens to me when I have my tpu case on... The spacing for the jack doesn't have enough slack.

I've had 2 scares...all caused by failing headphones. This jack seems very sensitive to any electrical flaw in cheap headphones.
Cm10 for me has had issues with the headphones. I'm on aokp cm10 and the headphones are almost fixed. Still have an issue if I reboot with the headphones connected. Jb ROMs are still quite new for our phone. It hasn't even been officially released for our phone and the work that the developers have been doing is phenomenal. Gibe it some time and we'll be really stable.

Just had it happen to a nephew on a Vivid, told him to do a hard reset and the Jack came back to life.
HTC One S TmoUS
Never any issues on mine. Sense 4.1. I got an expensive pair of Beats that give a nice click and stick in very well. God FORBID my Katy Perry gets played out loud through my external!
I now have this issue with Baked Blackbean ROM after installing the AC!D Audio. I haven't used my jack in a long time cause I normally use bluetooth so I'm not sure when and how this issue happened. I guess I will wait til the next update and check it after a clean flash.
***EDIT***
Here is a headphone fix I found for Baked Blackbean 7
Try SoundAbout on Google Play, others have said this fixes the problem...

Don't forget to set lpa.decode to 'false' in the build.prop if it's not already.

I bought an in-ear headphones. But sometimes phone thinks that these headphones are with mic. And the most annoying thing is when phone starts to call last number.
What should I do now? Is it normal? Anyone else had this before?
I have coredroid rom.

Yeah I've had this before as well, I tend to just pull it back out and plug it back in but not like all the way in and it's fine. Seems like a strange little bug.

I'm doing just like you. As its not only for me I will cut wires from headphones and solder in-ear headphones with original ones, and I will have my comfortable headphones and music control.

Too late, I already modified my headphones, and guess what! Now output power is so powerful that with volume at half is loud enough to me.

Nice one, maybe I should consider soldering
I Just bought a htc sensation, and my headphones dont work proper, they are from a sony phone, and i have to hold down the headset button to let the sound sound good. I fixed it with some tape, but it goes loose all the time, so are there any other ways of fixing it??

Try another headphones, so you will know, if it's headphone or phone problem. As for headphones, replacing a jack is a good starter. I don't know what to do, if it's a phone problem though...full wipe and install a ROM I guess
I'm using my headset now, that works cuause that one doesnt have a headset button for callen. The other one does, guess i'll have to stick with this one :3

It should be stated more clearly, its a very dangerous bug.
>be at crowded coffee shop
>plug in my headphones and hit the play button.
>the music then starts playing on full blast from the speaker
>everybody turns around, looking at me
>they now know what lame music I listen to
>I yell "Why team acid? Why would you do this to me?"
>More people stare at me
>the spaghetti starts falling out of my pockets
>run home crying
I didn't notice that on CM9, but it certainly doesn't do it on Remics, which has voodoo sound built in, plus installing Awesome Beats, you have a bunch of different sound config options. I love the headphone amp on Voodoo, can crack your headphones where they are actually loud.
Never had this problem occur to me.
Voodoo sound to my knowledge remains broken on ICS ROM's. The analogue volume slider breaks after making or receiving a phone call. Plus the sound quality is not up to par with voodoo working correctly on GB ROM's. This was recently noted and discussed in Raver's ICS Audiophile thread where several logcats where submitted documenting the problem. It's possible that the speaker issue is related. I think you'll find that if you reboot your phone then the speaker will mute when you plug in headphones, until you place or get a call and then it will act up again. If you want to use the hardware EQ's on the Wolfson dac's a la voodoo sound (highest headroom /lowest noise floor by far), over a third party software EQ like....well everything else, you're limited to GB or Froyo ROM's right now

I have no pity on anybody that doesnt test things before leaving the house.
Now if the sound is full volume then that is a different bug.
Currently its jusst loud enought you can hear it but not understand it.

They're not gonna sell him the spaghetti at the coffee shop so he had to bring his own.
So recently I was on the cm10.2 nightly when my speaker stopped working(including the earpiece). It took me about a day to figure it out, but it turns out my phone thought the headphones were always plugged in. Did a factory reset didn't help. Cleaned the jack out didn't do anything either. Thought it might be the cm10.2 nightlies. Switched to a sense Rom and now my speakers work but my headphones don't. It continues to play from the speaker even when I plug my headphones in. I can temporarily fix it with the soundabout app but that is quite annoying to use and change the settings all the time. Could it be the firmware? Should I run the ruu again?

If you're s-off running an RUU wouldn't be a bad idea.

I had a similar problem while running Viper 4.0. I clean installed Viper again, and had the she problem. I RUU'd back to 3.18 and installed CM10.1.3 RC2, and everything is back to normal.

Looks like I'll have to ruu again. Thanks for the help!

Well, no luck for me. I guess my jack is starting to go. I'm having the same problem on CM10.1.3. If it matters, I did update my firmware when I installed Viper 4.0.

Any luck? SoundAbout has helped me at least listen to music and make calls. I did find this:

Hello, so this started some time ago (long), when i plug in my headphones and start playing music, after some time, completely random, my phone turns the headphones into (as i assume from the icon) a headset with a mic in it and starts either calling the last called contact or turns on google talk. Also whenever this happens usually the volume tends to lower itself also.
I'm using factory settings, no new roms, just restored into factory everything from scratch, that bug is still there, no additional apps. Also it doesn't matter which player i use, used winamp now i used google play...
Much obliged in advance
What is your rom.

Using phillips headphones, don't have the box so i can't identify them atm, anyways, noticed that when i'm using the VLC player, and only when i leave it turned on and not minimized, the bug becomes less frequent, so i guess that's a software issue?
Obviously when i had the htc earphones this did not happen.
If your headphones have a little control piece for answering calls or volume this is probably your problem as most of them are designed to control iPhones they don't work and cause your phone to do some funky things and drain battery like crazy
