When I play music through the auxiliary to my car its much quieter than say the radio or my iPod. For example, ill have the car volume set at about 35 for iPod or radio and its loud. Plug in my phone with the same volume and its real quiet, need to turn it up to 45-50 to get the same loudness. It does this with multiple roms and different players. Its just hardware related I guess. Can anyone shed some light on why this happens.

I have the same problem, I connect through usb and get much louder playback than through aux

Anyone have an idea about why this happens

what rom/kernel setup do you currently have? I would say try a different kernel and see if it has volume boost. PlayerPro also has a DSPpack that has an EQ, so you can raise the preamp and boost your volume
It could just be the phones internal amp. Since its louder through USB that means that your car stereo is taking the file and running through the cars amp instead of the phones

It does this on anything through auxiliary not just my car so I'm not sure if that's the problem.
I do use playerpro. The thing is that I want to find a true solution to this not a workaround like an app

I think it's loud, but I'm coming from a Nexus One, and I've been informed the N1 is one of the phones with the lowest volume.
Good. Not great.

Coming from both Vibrants I would say its loud but not as loud as it should be.
I feel the vibrants are very loud. Especially when holding in your hand watching a movie because it will echo off your hand. I've always had to turn down the vibrants while I find myself wishing this phone could go louder.

Better than the G2 through the earpiece and speakers. I think the speaker placement helps. A lot better than the G2 through a wired or Bluetooth headset.
Sounds great when dts is pressed from within the audio or video player. If I didn't know about that from this forum I wouldn't have thought it was that good.

Coming from nexus s and would say ok, not as loud as nexus s. I had voodoo sound on nexus which was quite an improvement. May be we will see some improvements here once some custom kernels roll out.

The speaker volume is ok I guess for a mono speaker, but the headphone volume is to low. Probably they're following that headphone volume law from europe. There is a volume booster app in the market

Coming from an iPhone, I'm very impressed with the speaker phone volume.
Sound is really good, I missed the placement of the speaker being on the bottom of the phone.

Is the speaker volume VERY low or is it just my phone? I have youtube videos turned all the way up, notifications turned all the way up, etc., and it's still not that loud.
^^^Agreed, I noticed this as well. Its not a big issue, though.

Good to know it's not just my phone then. I can live with it.
Me too. I was thinking out was just my phone.
There is already a post about this FYI.....Go to: Settings>Call>Enable "Hearing Aids"
This will help tremendously. Enjoy.
at even the highest setting, its low on my phone. but what i've found out is that the speaker is capable of a very loud sound, but is locked by the software for the highest it can go. what i am talking about is , like for google navigation, turn the volume to the highest setting, and you can see that voice guidance is extremely loud. but for all other things on the phone, its low. so a custom rom would have to increase this setting for everything to be loud, not just voice guidance on google navigation.
It's definitely not a good speaker, but check out an app called Equalizer to boost your levels.
Try volume+ from the market.
I've not got a sensation but I have increased the volume of my lg o2x hugely.

Unfortunately volume+ crashes on the Sensation.
So strange you are all claiming speaker quality is bad. Mine it's great. Very loud and clear/crisp.. Music, videos, calls. Everything. Especially with the SRS enhancement checked.

SRS is great on the HTC apps but doesn't affect Sirius or other media apps.
Well even my youtube videos and speaker phone conversations are loud and crisp on the speaker. No problems with low volume here.

For listening to music on my bt headset I use the equalizer in poweramp to boost the volume, works well for me. For voice calls I find the volume and sound quality to be amazing.

I have nothing about enabling hearing aids, or is this just a joke?
Id like to know why my phones speaker is louder than when I plug external speakers in. This isn't too clever seen as the volume also seens very low on mine. :/

Hi, yes equalizer seems to help with the speaker by cranking everything up. Still nothing like the results you can get from volume plus.
On the plus side the speaker seems to be better than previous htc devices. I have always been put off by the poor speaker. Motorola speakers I have to have below max!
I will email volume+ developer and see if he or she will update.

Yes, it currently doesn't work on the Sensation and I'm not entirely sure why. I'm currently looking into why it force closes and will then release a bug fix.
Thanks.

I bought an in-ear headphones. But sometimes phone thinks that these headphones are with mic. And the most annoying thing is when phone starts to call last number.
What should I do now? Is it normal? Anyone else had this before?
I have coredroid rom.

Yeah I've had this before as well, I tend to just pull it back out and plug it back in but not like all the way in and it's fine. Seems like a strange little bug.

I'm doing just like you. As its not only for me I will cut wires from headphones and solder in-ear headphones with original ones, and I will have my comfortable headphones and music control.

Hello, so this started some time ago (long), when i plug in my headphones and start playing music, after some time, completely random, my phone turns the headphones into (as i assume from the icon) a headset with a mic in it and starts either calling the last called contact or turns on google talk. Also whenever this happens usually the volume tends to lower itself also.
I'm using factory settings, no new roms, just restored into factory everything from scratch, that bug is still there, no additional apps. Also it doesn't matter which player i use, used winamp now i used google play...
Much obliged in advance
What is your rom.

Using phillips headphones, don't have the box so i can't identify them atm, anyways, noticed that when i'm using the VLC player, and only when i leave it turned on and not minimized, the bug becomes less frequent, so i guess that's a software issue?
Obviously when i had the htc earphones this did not happen.
If your headphones have a little control piece for answering calls or volume this is probably your problem as most of them are designed to control iPhones they don't work and cause your phone to do some funky things and drain battery like crazy
