[Q] Ainol Hero 2 problems - General Questions and Answers

So i made the mistake of trying to install CM 10.1 on my ainol hero 2 and now all that happens at boot where is says Ainol Hero 2 quad core in orange letters and then the screen goes black(not turning off you can see the screen backlight is still lit). Now i can get to recovery menu by holding power and volume down but windows does not see the device or even recognizing the device being plugged in. Therefore I can not flash a good rom back on it as I have factory 4.2.2 waiting for it. I was going to sideload but it does not see the device or even recognize that it is plugged in.
I have turned the device off and connected to the computer while holding volume + and my computer made the sound that something is connected but the tablet just goes to the same black(but lit) screen. I can not find the device anywhere on my computer and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling generic usb drivers but nothing seems to work.
Does anyone know how to fix this error so I can actually boot into my tablet ha ha?

Tablet misbehaving, powered off, but not back on

I was watching netflix, and the interface was acting up, acting laggy, so I powered down the unit to restart it. It powered off, then when I tried to turn it back on, nothing happened. The screen stays black and it just vibrates after 10 sec.
Things I have tried:
Press reset button in hole for 10+ sec, also for less than 2 sec (click it) - no reaction
Press power and hold for 10+ sec - vibrates, like it's starting up, but nothing else
Press power and vol down (also vol up) - same vibration at 10 sec, but nothing else
Had a full charge when this happened, I had just pulled it & the dock off the charger.
When I plug the charger in, I get a solid green light.
Rooted on stock rom with original locked bootloader.
Hoping I can get this thing back on. I'd rather not send the tablet out to anyone or return it with it still full of apps and data.
Edit: Also, when connected to my PC, I get a "USB device has malfunctioned and is not recognized"... oh boy, that doesn't sound good at all.
Edit 2: I don't know if it's pertinent, but the last thing I did before resetting the tablet was adjust Volume+ from 8 to 10. "MusicFX" crashed shortly after that, and the volume didn't actually go up. That combined with the laggy netflix interface is why I reset it. Previously, I've only been skyping and using snes emulators off the market, and browsing the net. I can't imagine why this happened.

I know that when I used to turn off my tablet it would turn off and not vibrate. It was still running with the screen off son I had to hold the button till it vibrated then held it down again. It seems you already tried that but try it out again. Also make sure its completely off. When you connect it to computer it should not see anything if its off.

Thank you for your suggestion, it did not work; it just vibrated both times. I reconnected the keyboard dock and plugged it in via the dock to see if that had any effect, and all the same it is shown as an unrecognized usb device, which in my experience means the usb device has a hardware failure. An Asus support rep has suggested that it would need warranty service. Fortunately I'm still within my return period to BBY, so I will exchange it with them. Just don't like the idea of leaving my unprotected email and other accounts open to anyone who might be able to repair it and get it running again without erasing it.

Find out vendor ID and and device ID of this unknown device. If it is 0955:7030, your device is in APX mode (check if the volume-up button is stuck).
It's just not coming back. I decided to go ahead and exchange it. I'll have to change a crap ton of passwords now, but whatevs. I wish I had an idea of what killed it though.
The vol button was not stuck, it had a definite click 'action' to it on both sides. Wish I had seen your post a half hour ago.
Edit: Wait -- I just crawled through the event logs: Driver Management concluded the process to install driver NULL Driver for Device Instance ID USB\VID_0955&PID_7030\5&250F0A09&0&5 with the following status: 0xe0000203.
Is there a way to get it out of APX mode??

Usually, not pressing Volume-up while powering on is enough.
I'd say your tablet is really defective.

Just flashes on startup. Black Screen

I got an HTC One S from a friend who got it from another friend. I don't have any history on the device. He gave it to me to fix because I'm the only Android user he knows and his phone won't start.
If I keep the power button pressed, the capacitive buttons flash exactly 15 times and occasionally the phone vibrates. I don't have a One S so not sure if that indicates that phone was started or shutdown.
Neither fastboot devices not adb devices shows the device. But every once in a while when it vibrates, if the phone is connected to the PC with a USB cable, it beeps - like it's connected. I don't see Android Phone in Device Manager. But I see a MTP USB Device with a yellow exclamation mark. Uninstalling and reinstalling HTC Drivers didn't fix the problem.
I have tried Power+Volume Down key. Shining a torch on it (seemed to work for a few people), keeping it plugged into the mains for 3 days, kept it in the freezer for 2-3 minutes (also seemed to work for one person).
I think when I first got the phone and plugged it into the mains, I saw a red charging light. But I may be mistaken. In any case, there is no light anymore indicating charging. But I don't think that's the problem.
I have no idea whether the device is bricked or not. And if there is any way to fix it. Samsung has Odin which makes any Samsung phone practically unbrickable. I haven't used any HTCs since the G1 so have not been in touch too much with the HTC development. But from reading, it seems that messing around with Romming with S-ON can cause the phone to be bricked. And perhaps that's what my friend or his friend did. Does this sound like that's what could have happened?
Thanks for any pointers.
I dont think the device is bricked. its just a little harder to press the power and volume down when you see the buttons flashing.
just check and do these steps.
connect the mobile to charger and see if the orange light comes and stays on
if the orange light is there, press the power button and keep your finger ready near the volume down button
you should keep the power button pressed and as soon as the orange light disappears you should press the volume down button until you end up in boot loader screen
give this a few tries and see if the device boots up in bootloader

The problem is that I no longer see any light at all when I connect the phone to a charger. It's probably fully charged. Would that show a green light? If so, that's not visible either. I have a feeling that the bootloader has got wiped out or something.
I read in one post that the phone may be stuck in the QHUSB-DLOAD mode.
So I followed the steps in http://unlimited.io/qhsusbdload.htm. But that didn't help. I don't remember the exact statement since I was running an Ubuntu Live CD. But the gist was that it couldn't connect to the phone so presumably it's not stuck in QHUSB-DLOAD mode. Although the site states that it will NOT fix QHSUSB_DLOAD issues encountered by flashing ROMs - which may well be what may have happened.
I understand that running an RUU for the HTC One S may set it back to factory state. But for that I need fastboot to work.

Nexus 5 will not recover

Earlier today my phone (nexus 5) stopped working on me. My phone is not rooted or anything. I was able to get into the recovery screen by pressing the power button and volume key down and have been trying to restart the phone this way but it is taking forever. It's been hours and nothing has happened. The 4 colored circles have been going on forever. I didn't have USB debugging on. My laptop recognizes that a nexus 5 is connected but it says the drivers are not installed. I installed the usb drivers from google but it has not helped. I'm a noob and don't know what to do please help

Bricked Console

Hey all, need a hand. My Shield TV seems to be bricked. When I turned it on last night there was a red and green ball animation playing and the console wouldn't respond to any input from the controller or my Harmony remote. I should clarify a bit, the animation was actually frozen. Anyway, I unplugged the console for a while and now it won't do anything. There's no video output from the console. I've tried 3 different TV's and 3 different HDMI cables. I was going to try and reflash it back to factory, but I can't get the laptop to recognize the console. It finds my android phone just fine and ADB works great on it. The green light comes on when I plug it in and the power button seems to at least turn the light on and off. It does show up in the device manager on the laptop when its on, but as an unknown device type called APX. I downloaded the drivers from NVidia which then shows it as Android ADB Interface, but ADB still won't see it. I've also tried plugging it, waiting 2 seconds then holding down the power button for 5 to get it into Fastboot mode, but all it does it turn the console off. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
connect the console to your pc. unplug the dc. > plug the dc > touch power for ~3 sec.
after that download factory image from nvidia website. and flash it on shield console.
https://developer.nvidia.com/shield-open-source
flashed wrong rom on Nvidia Shield 2015 16GB -- stuck in APX mode -- unable to access fastboot.
Please help?

Black Screen, Green Power LED, APX with USB connect to PC?

So, I am in new territory here. My tf300t suddenly stopped working. I had previous unlocked the tablet (years back) but never installed a custom rom. It was working fine for a few years and I factory wiped along the way a couple times. So a couple months ago I did a factory reset again and it seemed fine for a few weeks. Yesterday I picked it up and I can't get it to turn on. Here are the symptoms:
It will charge and shows a green LED
Can only get a Black screen and will not boot, no ASUS screen or anything
I tried holding power for 30 seconds
I tried holding power and volume down for 30 seconds
I tried the tiny reset hole with a paper clip and the same with power button
When I connect to my computer with a USB it shows up as APX on Windows 10
Is it just dead now? Bricked? Thanks for any insight! Seems strange but maybe it decided to die.

I have no idea what happened to your tablet. If I were in your boots, I would install "Minimal ADB & Fastboot" from here: http://freeandroidroot.com/download-minimal-adb-and-fastboot-all-versions/. Then please check whether the USB driver are installed or not. If not get them here: https://androidmtk.com/download-asus-usb-drivers.
Connect your tablet via USB with your PC. The devise manager should show "Android Phone" => ASUS Composite ADB Interface and "Portable Devices" => TF300
After that seen you have access via ADB to your tablet. Then please flash the latest Asus firmware update to get your tablet on a clean stock rom. For assistance please search the forum. Good luck!
