Black Screen, Green Power LED, APX with USB connect to PC? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I am in new territory here. My tf300t suddenly stopped working. I had previous unlocked the tablet (years back) but never installed a custom rom. It was working fine for a few years and I factory wiped along the way a couple times. So a couple months ago I did a factory reset again and it seemed fine for a few weeks. Yesterday I picked it up and I can't get it to turn on. Here are the symptoms:
It will charge and shows a green LED
Can only get a Black screen and will not boot, no ASUS screen or anything
I tried holding power for 30 seconds
I tried holding power and volume down for 30 seconds
I tried the tiny reset hole with a paper clip and the same with power button
When I connect to my computer with a USB it shows up as APX on Windows 10
Is it just dead now? Bricked? Thanks for any insight! Seems strange but maybe it decided to die.

I have no idea what happened to your tablet. If I were in your boots, I would install "Minimal ADB & Fastboot" from here: http://freeandroidroot.com/download-minimal-adb-and-fastboot-all-versions/. Then please check whether the USB driver are installed or not. If not get them here: https://androidmtk.com/download-asus-usb-drivers.
Connect your tablet via USB with your PC. The devise manager should show "Android Phone" => ASUS Composite ADB Interface and "Portable Devices" => TF300
After that seen you have access via ADB to your tablet. Then please flash the latest Asus firmware update to get your tablet on a clean stock rom. For assistance please search the forum. Good luck!

Tablet misbehaving, powered off, but not back on

I was watching netflix, and the interface was acting up, acting laggy, so I powered down the unit to restart it. It powered off, then when I tried to turn it back on, nothing happened. The screen stays black and it just vibrates after 10 sec.
Things I have tried:
Press reset button in hole for 10+ sec, also for less than 2 sec (click it) - no reaction
Press power and hold for 10+ sec - vibrates, like it's starting up, but nothing else
Press power and vol down (also vol up) - same vibration at 10 sec, but nothing else
Had a full charge when this happened, I had just pulled it & the dock off the charger.
When I plug the charger in, I get a solid green light.
Rooted on stock rom with original locked bootloader.
Hoping I can get this thing back on. I'd rather not send the tablet out to anyone or return it with it still full of apps and data.
Edit: Also, when connected to my PC, I get a "USB device has malfunctioned and is not recognized"... oh boy, that doesn't sound good at all.
Edit 2: I don't know if it's pertinent, but the last thing I did before resetting the tablet was adjust Volume+ from 8 to 10. "MusicFX" crashed shortly after that, and the volume didn't actually go up. That combined with the laggy netflix interface is why I reset it. Previously, I've only been skyping and using snes emulators off the market, and browsing the net. I can't imagine why this happened.

I know that when I used to turn off my tablet it would turn off and not vibrate. It was still running with the screen off son I had to hold the button till it vibrated then held it down again. It seems you already tried that but try it out again. Also make sure its completely off. When you connect it to computer it should not see anything if its off.

Thank you for your suggestion, it did not work; it just vibrated both times. I reconnected the keyboard dock and plugged it in via the dock to see if that had any effect, and all the same it is shown as an unrecognized usb device, which in my experience means the usb device has a hardware failure. An Asus support rep has suggested that it would need warranty service. Fortunately I'm still within my return period to BBY, so I will exchange it with them. Just don't like the idea of leaving my unprotected email and other accounts open to anyone who might be able to repair it and get it running again without erasing it.

Find out vendor ID and and device ID of this unknown device. If it is 0955:7030, your device is in APX mode (check if the volume-up button is stuck).
It's just not coming back. I decided to go ahead and exchange it. I'll have to change a crap ton of passwords now, but whatevs. I wish I had an idea of what killed it though.
The vol button was not stuck, it had a definite click 'action' to it on both sides. Wish I had seen your post a half hour ago.
Edit: Wait -- I just crawled through the event logs: Driver Management concluded the process to install driver NULL Driver for Device Instance ID USB\VID_0955&PID_7030\5&250F0A09&0&5 with the following status: 0xe0000203.
Is there a way to get it out of APX mode??

Usually, not pressing Volume-up while powering on is enough.
I'd say your tablet is really defective.

can not boot

One day I went to use my tablet after a long time not using it. It was on the stock OS. And it stops at the Asus screen with the spinning circle I know sometimes this might take awhile so I let it sit for 24 hours and it still is there. I tried cold boot and reset to default and also the recovery image. With the recovery image I get a dead droid with a red ! above him. When I plug it into my computer I hear my computer detect it but I can't access it.
Guessing the OS is corrupted. Bring it back to stock again using easyflasher. You will lose all data by doing this.
You need to be in apx mode to use easyflasher. Press power and volume up for a few seconds and connect to PC. Your tablet should be recognized however the screen will stay black. Then you can use easyflasher. Good luck! Also, try to never allow the battery to go completely flat. If you will not be using it for a while power off.

it is not letting me go into apx mode. When I try turning it off it restarts and goes to the boot screen and freezes there. Is the recovery image on the SD card? I can get to the recovery so I might just put the stock zip on it and try it.
I just tried updating it and I keep getting the same dead droid and it keeps rebooting when I try to power it off so I cant enter apx
Try holding POWER and VOL UP and it should enter APX even if it isn't off first.
No matter what I try and how many times I try when I push the power button it just restarts. if I hold the Power and Volume up it restarts and sticks at the Asus screen. In the Device Manager for a description for the tablet it says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
I had that error and it was a bad USB cable. My cable still worked with the stock charger, just not for USB (MTP/APX/ADB)
I do have 2 cables and last time I used then both did work so I know that is not a part of my problem.
You won't see anything in APX mode and may think the device is powered off. So connect it to your computer first, then try to go in APX. You should hear the computer detect the device.

I know how to get into apx mode. I have used it several times before but it will not let me. No matter what I try it keeps rebooting.

Does it still reboot when you try entering APX mode if the USB cable is disconnected from the tablet ?

yes it reboots if it is hooked to the computer or all by itself. If I try to enter apx by itself or hooked to the computer it still reboots.
If I can't get into apx does that mean that I have a brick?

Possibly, or your power / volume buttons aren't working properly / getting stuck pressed in
Might be worth taking it apart and disconnecting the battery for a while / checking buttons are working without the plastic bezel over the top of them
Check no cables have come loose causing weird behaviour

I opened it up cleaned the buttons unplugged the battery and looked for loose cables. Plugged the battery back in and rechecked for loose cables. I tried going into APX and that is a no go. I have not reassembled the unit back together yet.
So what should I do next?
I got it fixed!
I unplugged the battery plugged it back in, did a cold boot then enter apx mode

Must have been some weird bug in memory that was being kept alive by the battery

Flash mode, not working

Hello everyone.
A few days ago my MK808b stopped working.
At one point I was on the screen and an ad appeared saying "updating the android system", or something similar. After a while, the system was restarted. But it never starts again. It got struck at the beginning and after 15 minutes of waiting, I decided to disconnect it and reconnect it again. The problem was that it never started again.
Nowadays when you start it, the Linux penguin's are shown for a few seconds and then the screen gets black.
I tried to enter the hard reset mode by I couldn't.
I press the button as it is shown in the tutorial, then I plug the stick to the pc/tv but it didn't enter in flash mode.
I have seen on youtube a video about how to get into flash mode, you press the button and then connect the stick and that's how I do it. I notice a difference between the youtube video and what i do, and it is that even having pressed the button, as soon as I plug the otg cable on the pc, the blue light turns on. But on the youtube video while the person is pressing the button, the blue light is not on. It turns on when the guy stop pressing the button. I guess there's the problem.
I've tried two different USB cable and have had the same result. I also tested on the PC and the TV. I do not know what else to do.
Can anyone help me to solve this problem?
Thank you very much!!!!

LTE 32GB bricked by himself

Hello
Yesterday while i was watching ads in some freemium game tablet just turned off. I plug it to original charger and tried to turn on, but screen do not light up. Then I tried to press Power Button with Volume Up or Volume Down for from couple to 30 seconds but without any luck. When i connected tablet to PC, it shows as "APX" and system can not find drivers for it. When it is connected to PC via USB cable and when i press Power Button and Volume Up or Volume Down for 10 seconds light change from orange to green and tablet dissappear from device list in windows device manager and when i do it again it comes back as APX (doesn't matter which combination) so it looks like i can not get into fastboot mode.
What happend? What can i do to bring it back to life which was stopped for no apparent reason?
Tablet was flashed and after updated couple of months ago to newest OTA via ADB and it is with B01 battery.
My PC is on Windows 7.

Tablet appears to be dead

Hi
I had this tablet for about two years, ran amazon Fire toolbox on it and everything was fine.
Couple of days ago it turned off, I think the battery level was around 15%. I was not able to turn it back on.
I decided to charge it overnight. Next morning I tried to turn it on but it stuck on Amazon logo.
I tried to do Power + Volume and was able to see the menu, attempted to do restart, then factory reset - and had this bunch of errors. Then I did the power down from the menu, and after that it doesn't turn on even to recovery any more, the screen is black, no logo, no backlight.
When I connect it to computer (the same I ran amazon fire toolbox on) there is an unknown device, but that's it, adb and fastboot don't see any devices.
Update: another windows machine recognized it as a Mediatek USB port and was able to install drivers.
When connected, it appears to be in a loop - Mediatek USB port device appears and in several seconds dissappears, in cycle.
Any help will be highly appreciated!
Thank you!

Your eMMC probably died (notice the input-output errors), try to use amonet. If the script reports "read error" then nothing can be done.
