can not boot - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

One day I went to use my tablet after a long time not using it. It was on the stock OS. And it stops at the Asus screen with the spinning circle I know sometimes this might take awhile so I let it sit for 24 hours and it still is there. I tried cold boot and reset to default and also the recovery image. With the recovery image I get a dead droid with a red ! above him. When I plug it into my computer I hear my computer detect it but I can't access it.

Guessing the OS is corrupted. Bring it back to stock again using easyflasher. You will lose all data by doing this.

You need to be in apx mode to use easyflasher. Press power and volume up for a few seconds and connect to PC. Your tablet should be recognized however the screen will stay black. Then you can use easyflasher. Good luck! Also, try to never allow the battery to go completely flat. If you will not be using it for a while power off.

it is not letting me go into apx mode. When I try turning it off it restarts and goes to the boot screen and freezes there. Is the recovery image on the SD card? I can get to the recovery so I might just put the stock zip on it and try it.

I just tried updating it and I keep getting the same dead droid and it keeps rebooting when I try to power it off so I cant enter apx

Try holding POWER and VOL UP and it should enter APX even if it isn't off first.

No matter what I try and how many times I try when I push the power button it just restarts. if I hold the Power and Volume up it restarts and sticks at the Asus screen. In the Device Manager for a description for the tablet it says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

I had that error and it was a bad USB cable. My cable still worked with the stock charger, just not for USB (MTP/APX/ADB)

I do have 2 cables and last time I used then both did work so I know that is not a part of my problem.

You won't see anything in APX mode and may think the device is powered off. So connect it to your computer first, then try to go in APX. You should hear the computer detect the device.

I know how to get into apx mode. I have used it several times before but it will not let me. No matter what I try it keeps rebooting.

Does it still reboot when you try entering APX mode if the USB cable is disconnected from the tablet ?

yes it reboots if it is hooked to the computer or all by itself. If I try to enter apx by itself or hooked to the computer it still reboots.

If I can't get into apx does that mean that I have a brick?

Possibly, or your power / volume buttons aren't working properly / getting stuck pressed in
Might be worth taking it apart and disconnecting the battery for a while / checking buttons are working without the plastic bezel over the top of them
Check no cables have come loose causing weird behaviour

I opened it up cleaned the buttons unplugged the battery and looked for loose cables. Plugged the battery back in and rechecked for loose cables. I tried going into APX and that is a no go. I have not reassembled the unit back together yet.

So what should I do next?

I got it fixed!
I unplugged the battery plugged it back in, did a cold boot then enter apx mode

Great!
Must have been some weird bug in memory that was being kept alive by the battery

[Q] An odd pseudo-brick situation. Halp!

So I'm an absolute idiot (hindsight being 20/20).
Running Froyo and installed an app to change the battery icon for me, did so and rebooted into a lovely reboot loop. Used Odin to go to stock just fine, reinstalled the froyo rom I was using before and attempted to restore /data from a previous backup. BIG MISTAKE.
Now it boots into Froyo, vibrates a few times and shows off the fact it needs to Force Close a few apps finally rebooting. I can't get it to go into download mode OR recovery mode no matter what method I try. Plugging in the USB cable while holding volume up/down sends it to the battery charging screen with every combo of the sim card in/out and buttons I can try. If I try to hold volume up/down at the same time to boot into recovery it continues into Froyo to crash a few apps and start the process all over.
I can't for the life of me get this thing into anything useful to try to restore. I haven't tried a USB jig yet but I'm about to. Any suggestions for this poor idiot?

Try keeping the battery out and have the usb plugged in and hold the vol buttons. Keep holding them and push the battery in. That has worked for some people. And maybe do what you did to get to where it force closes and try ADB commands.
If you can use adb, use it to get into download.
I thought about using adb to reboot into download mode but neither my laptop nor desktop seem to detect the phone having the USB cable plugged into it. While it is booted into Froyo it doesn't make the usual sounds indicating it is connected via USB either and monitoring the System Devices shows it isn't connected either. Just seems to want to use my machines USB ports for charging and not for anything else.
I'll keep trying anyway.
Try all the different usb ports on your computer. Sometimes one will work for some odd reason. If your phone isn't being registered on your computer I don't see how odin will work either.

Obviously it won't. Another odd behavior it is displaying is that during some reboots it skips the AT&T logo and goes straight to the boot up animation. Some times it vibrates before showing "swipe to unlock" and sometimes it doesn't. I almost have enough time to get into Rom Manager and tell it to reboot into recovery but I've gotten to hit the button and then it reboots into it's fun cycle again.
Almost as if it doesn't have recovery mode at all anymore or USB function.

Yes several times now. It just pops up with the charging screen and sits there each time.

Pulls up that circular loading whateveritiscalled then the grey battery appears, sits for a few seconds and cycles that again over and over.
Will it stop force closing long enough to go into the settings and do a factory reset? Also, I would check the usb debugging box. I have found it unchecked after a flashing or restoring sometimes. Don't know why.

Not usually no. The amount of time I have to get in and try anything varies a bit based on voodoo and how many times I press the screen it seems. Without a stop watch I'm guessing it's alive for a full 20-30 seconds before it reboots with the Force Close boxes slowing down the process further as most of the time it's unresponsive as something else is crashing in the background.
Have you tried plugging it into different usb ports? There will be times that only one out of the five I have on my computer will register. All others only charge.
Chances are USB debugging is not enabled and that is what your issue is as suggested by the previous poster. Unless you are able to get into development you might just have to get lucky. I am not sure what else you can try.

Yes I have. This laptop has only 3 ports and my desktop 8 or so but they all react the same. The phone just wants to use the power to charge.
Sorry, out of ideas too. Looks like it's time for a jig.

Yep. Got lucky and had 3 100k ohm resistors on hand. Cracked the casing off the end of the USB charging cable and soldered them on and just finished running Odin. Seems to be booting up just fine now.
Hopefully this thread of insanity will be able to help someone else.

Do you mean Odin didn't see your phone? Are you in download mode? What do you see on the screen right now? Sometimes I have to try different USB ports and close/re-open Odin for it to finally see my phone.

I'm trying to picture this in my head so humor me and try this.
Unplug USB cable from phone and PC.
Plug USB cable into PC ONLY.
Take battery out of your phone (by the way, your phone will go into download mode without the battery in. I've done it).
While holding down both volume buttons, plug USB cable into your phone. Continue holding. Eventually you should see the download mode confirmation where it says volume up to continue and volume down to cancel.
Release both volume buttons.
Put your battery back in
Press volume up to continue to download mode.
If you follow these steps and the phone goes into a black screen with a phone, a right arrow and a PC, that is the "I'm messed up so you need to fix me now" download mode, but it is download mode nonetheless and Odin will recognize that mode.
Let me know how that turns out.

Looks like maybe a few things
1. Battery may be completely Dead, leave it plugged in for awhile and see if your able to do anything.
2. When doing recovery are you releasing the buttons when the Samsung logo shows? Same with download mode, also looked like you may have been holding the power when trying DL mode.

Watched your video. I don't have headphones at work today so I have no sound but I get the gist of what you're doing. I noticed at the very end you were only using one finger to hold down both the volume up AND the volume down keys. Is it possible that your finger is slipping off and only one is being pressed by the time you plugged in your USB cable? The phone is reacting as if both buttons are not being held down at the same time. Again, just an observation
The important part is that you need to hold down both volume buttons at the same time while you plug in the USB cable. Also it's worth mentioning that the only buttons you're supposed to be holding are the volume buttons. So do not hold the power button at any point during the process of putting it into download mode. The phone didn't react as if you were holding the power button but I wanted to mention it anyway.
Tried your advises and nothing happens... ((

Hard Bricked After TWRP Restore

I was restoring a TWRP restore, and it said completed and whatever, but now the phone won't boot or vibrate at all. I've tried plugging into computer, holding volume buttons, nothing works! The only thing that happens is the led turns red when is plugged into charger and power button is being held, otherwise it blinks red. How do I fix the bad restore?

Not currently rooted as I see no need (for my usage) on this phone.
Had a similar issue long back with an HTC One X, it first went in to a bootloop one day and then in CWM it showed internal storage as non mountable and finally ended up like yours where it would not turn on. Ended up being a bad NAND I am guessing as they had to replace the motherboard. I think you just had bad luck, just get it replaced.......
However in one last attempt try charging for like a day and try turning it on could even be a bad battery to be honest... though probably you still want to replace it
Option 1:
Plug your phone into your turned on computer with the USB cable and leave it there to charge until the red light comes on (leave for 1-2 hours, more if you feel it necessary), then quickly put it on charge using the wall charger.
Option 2 (not likely to work):
Plug your phone into your wall socket with the USB cable and wall charger and leave it there to charge until the red light comes on (leave for 1-2 hours, more if you feel it necessary), then quickly put it on charge through your turned on computer using the USB cable.
If neither of these work (as dumb as this may sound)turn off your phone and put your phone in the freezer for 15-30 minutes (This is done to discharge the battery, wont break your phone). When you've left it there for your chosen time, try option 1 again. If that doesn't work, turn the phone off again and put it back in the freezer for the same time and try option 2. If they don't work, i'm sorry I don't know how to help you.

Black Screen, Green Power LED, APX with USB connect to PC?

So, I am in new territory here. My tf300t suddenly stopped working. I had previous unlocked the tablet (years back) but never installed a custom rom. It was working fine for a few years and I factory wiped along the way a couple times. So a couple months ago I did a factory reset again and it seemed fine for a few weeks. Yesterday I picked it up and I can't get it to turn on. Here are the symptoms:
It will charge and shows a green LED
Can only get a Black screen and will not boot, no ASUS screen or anything
I tried holding power for 30 seconds
I tried holding power and volume down for 30 seconds
I tried the tiny reset hole with a paper clip and the same with power button
When I connect to my computer with a USB it shows up as APX on Windows 10
Is it just dead now? Bricked? Thanks for any insight! Seems strange but maybe it decided to die.

I have no idea what happened to your tablet. If I were in your boots, I would install "Minimal ADB & Fastboot" from here: http://freeandroidroot.com/download-minimal-adb-and-fastboot-all-versions/. Then please check whether the USB driver are installed or not. If not get them here: https://androidmtk.com/download-asus-usb-drivers.
Connect your tablet via USB with your PC. The devise manager should show "Android Phone" => ASUS Composite ADB Interface and "Portable Devices" => TF300
After that seen you have access via ADB to your tablet. Then please flash the latest Asus firmware update to get your tablet on a clean stock rom. For assistance please search the forum. Good luck!

Zenfone 7 pro stuck in Qualcomm Crashdump loop after successful display replacement

This started happening to me after changing a broken display. I get the asus logo, then the android one, then Qualcomm crashdump for less than a second then it repeats a few loops then shuts down.
I can put the device into fastboot mode by holding volume up + power but plugging a cable into it makes the screen flash and shut down and it does not get recognised by the PC. It also makes the phone heat up if left connected for a long time.
I tried making an EDL cable and putting the phone into EDL mode, but even that doesn't seem to work and the phone still isn't recognised.
When the phone is connected with a usb cable, no button combination will make it wake up.
Please help!
