Has anyone had a problem with their nexus 5 where the screen would randomly start pressing things? It usually happens multiple times and is very erratic. Contacted Google and will send back for a replacement just wondering if anyone else is having this issue.
Yap, me too.
Had it a while back but it seems to have stopped.

Never anything like that but what I have done a few times is my palm touches the bottom right of the screen when I reach for the top left corner while right handing it. Coming from an iPhone so I guess it took a bit to get used to the larger screen
I requested for a replacement to Google Play this morning. They send it this evening. I should
get my replacement early next week. Good service I would say.
I'm glad I'm not going crazy! This is happening to me too! Is there any way to resolve this without having to go through the RMA process?
Only While Charging
I'm getting some erratic touch behavior, but only when the phone is charging. I take it off the charger and it seems fine.
I'm not getting total phantom behavior, but when I swipe from home screen to home screen, sometimes an app will get activated. Same with pulling down the notification area.
It makes me think there's a charge leaking through to the display components somehow.
I'm going to give it a week and then RMA it if it doesn't go away.
I have it too
I have it too but only when I connect my USB to the computer...
It's sucks cos I'm an app developer...
Is there any fix for that?

Sounds like a dodgy USB cable or port.
Same issues with my Nexus 4
I notice my issue is mostly when my phone is charging or when I'm using my mobile hotspot. Tends to get extra warm when im using both. Which leads me to believe its an overheating issue (the heat is throwing off the digitizer causing it to maybe think its being touched?) Is anyone else noticing the same?
Yes, but only while on wireless charger and even then only sometimes.
I take it off, push power button twice and it's gone.
I'm also experiencing this if my Nexus 5 is charging using the original Wall charger and cable.
Still no fix for this? Really annoying, I need to unplug my phone to the charger so that I can use it again normally
Same issue here

This usually happens when you use some other charger/usb cable than the original one

This also sometimes happens when you have wet or moist fingers

I'm using original cable and wall charger. I also don't have wet finger or hand when experiencing this issue

I also have the same problem only when otg or pic is connected through usb
Well this is weird. This morning I woke up and grabbed my G from next to my bed and the touch screen is being all slow and not responsive. I can't swipe left or right without doing it very slowly and deliberately. Same thing with bringing down my notification drawer.
Its making the phone near unusable. Even to type this all out I couldn't use Google keyboards swipe typing feature and have to hit each individual button really slowly.
Anyone know what could be causing this?

Install this and see how it behaves https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=multitouchpro.tests&hl=es
Thanks for that useful little app. It registers all my fingers fine, and its good if I swipe slowly, but if I swipe too fast it loses my finger for a second, which I guess is why I have a problem swiping.
I have no idea what's causing this still though since its been working fine for the past month.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Do you by any chance have the charger plugged in while doing this? (My nexus 4 screen acts that way when I connect the wall charger)
Have you tried resetting it?
It's not plugged in, I did try rebooting it but not a reset. I'll have to give that a try now.

Same here, part of the screen is unresponsive, except if you move your finger very slowly.
I have the problem described by OP if I am charging with a high ampere charger. It is solved by me by turning the screen off and on after unplugging it.
I forgot to update. The problem just kind of fixed itself over a few hours. I took it to work and it was still having the problem, and then I took it out of my pocket a few hours into my shift to check a text and it was working like usual.
I dunno. Magic I guess.

Could be that the cpu got underclocked for a while?
Using any cpu overclocking apps?

Guy who did a waterproof test on the Moto G encountered the same issues you described. As the phone dried out the screen slowly came back to life and became responsive again.
I suspect that you have moisture egress into the device, it could cause a strange capacitance differential affecting the digitiser, or even just a short.
Have you used the phone, in shower room, in pocket while exercising. In rain. Taken it from cold outdoors, into very warm indoors. All these things can cause moisture to condense inside the device.
If it happens, the symptoms will reduce as the phone completely dries out...

Facing Same Issue
Hello, I am also facing same issue only when my Moto G is connected to Wall Charger [Be it switched Off or On]. Can any body please help me resolve this issue? Or Do we actually have a solution for the problem stated?
same issue
Hi i have the same issue, please someone knows how to fix it or why it happens ? In my phone the problem appears and solve for itself but after a while the problem appears again
I'm also in the same boat..

still not working
I made the multitouch test and all works fine, it seems like is a software problem but i don't know wich one is failing. I hide the navbar with gravitybox, could this be the cause of the problem ?
definitely your charger I had the same problem when using a generic charger... try a different charger

this behavior happens to me with stock keyboard in whatsapp, after star typing and pressing the "a" key in loop, press the home button and start multitouch test (YAMT) and the screen area that is not responding is where the "a" key is located....
after a while the screen start to response in a normal way...
i tried swift keyboard and guess what.... the same issue again....
this is weird...
note: try to remove the grip shell
Solved,
Okay so I had this issue just now and i got worried, but there is nothing to worry about. The problem is in the charger, use a different charger
my 2 have done this a couple times and I think they were charging at the time. I unplugged the charger but no change. Then I removed the silicone cover I put on and it immediately worked fine both times I did it. I did not turn phone off or reboot. It did not start this trick until I put the covers on. Covers barely touch the screen on the sides. When I replaced cover it still worked until the next time it became unhappy with the cover. Anybody else...................
Update-just checked my other phone. I removed cover w/o unplugging and it did not restore it. Unplugged charger and it was fine. Almost seems like both are contributing to it. more research necessary..........
Maybe the phone just wants to be fondled???????

thank god for this, how long will it take to final all dry out?
Just received a brand new HTC One M8 about a week ago and notice the touch screen is a bit spotty at times. For instance, when entering my pin to unlock the phone, some areas just won't respond to my touches until I either turn off/on the phone or rotate the phone from landscape to portrait again. Or when opening chrome and going back to the home screen, the same thing occurs and have to shut-off and on the phone again.
This is all stock, no flashing/rooting done yet.
I would like to know if this is a common problem before I exchange it for another M8 and encounter the issue again.
Thanks
Mine definitely doesn't have a problem with being unresponsive sometimes I think it's the opposite it's to sensitive. I would guess you have a problem. Only time mine doesn't respond is the double tap to wake if I haven't picked it up yet. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful

Funny I am right handed and I have recently noticed a couple of times while holding the phone in my left hand, the touch screen unresponsive while I tried to enter unlock pin and while composing a message.

My lock button started getting flimsy for a few days after I got my phone. First it would get every other button press and then it stopped working all together. Then the fingerprint sensor went out on it.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Now the phone battery died and it won't power on.
FML
Well I think i found a way to get it to boot!
1 Press and hold power button.
3 Remove battery.
2 Slap that battery back in and boom the phone boots!
My finger print sensor has been inconsistent

Hey, my nexus 5 fell of my hands and broke the screen , after that whenever I try to turn it on it just takes so long to power on with a laggy loading screen and when it finishes the screen goes black and there is no respond like it's dead.
Can you please help me?

i honestly think that's an hardware issue, caused by the drop... had similar issues with the module which handles cellular connections, had to get it fixed by LG to get back mobile Internet
