HTC One SV In boot loop - HTC One SV

Hi all,
I've a friends HTC One that is stuck in a boot loop cycle, and I'm trying to fix it for them. I have unlocked the device via htcdev.com.
Action: Power on device
Observe: "HTC quietly brilliant" boot logo. Logo remains on screen for approx 10 seconds, then screen goes black and logo reappears. Repeat x n.
I started by following these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2113671
However, I can't "Move the Superuser.zip to somewhere on your phone's SD card". The device is never recognised as a storage device.
Some fastboot output:

However, if I enter the bootloader and select "Recovery" I'll see the HTC boot screen with "Entering Recovery" at the top. This screen never changes.
I've tried both the CyanGenMod recovery file and the TeamWin file. Both give the same results.
Any advice?

@captainbadger
Please, for future reference, post all questions over at the HTC One SV Q&A section. Unless specific questions pertain to specific threads created by specific members. But for general purposes as this one, it would most certainly go to where I have just mentioned above. No pun intended to you. Just want to keep this stuff clean and organized over at our forum.
However, since you have already created this one, just stick with it. No need for duplicates.
Contact a mod and request one of them to move it.
Thanks

Already did. It doesn't launch. Detailed in opening post.
Edit: From the twrp site: "You must be S-OFF or have taken HTC's unlock to use a recovery on your device!"
This device is S-ON. See posted fastboot output.

Hmm well I was told it is an HTC One SV. I've assumed that was correct. What does the CID tell you? How can I check?

I asked because I have never seen that cid number for our device. Though it is seen for the HTC One X and X+. You need to confirm this.

How? There's nothing on the device that says "SV" or "X" or "X+". Is it in the fastboot output?
ETA: The rear cover says: "4G LTE Beats Audio"

Yea, mine doesn't say that lol. Is it a bright orange rear cover with big black HTC letters in the center? If not, then your device is definitely not a One SV.
Sent from my C525c using Tapatalk

lol what questions are these? Is an One SV with bootloader 2.21 and the CID is Orange as it means is Orange branded from East Europe. You no see k2_ul on bootloader info?
Try "fastboot erase cache" in fastboot after flashed the recovery I posted and reboot again into recovery.

Nope, it's a white rear cover with black recessed text "htc" in the middle.
ETA: It looks exactly like this:
http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/htc-one-sv-1120380/review
/cul-de-sac

fastboot getvar all output says, it is k2ul

I saw the K2_UL but that doesn't mean anything. If something wrong was flashed, that could have been easily altered and therefore misleading. That's why I took notice of the cid number. In addition, I am unaware of an HTC One SV with a white rear cover, so if anyone wishes to clarify this, then please do
Edit: just noticed the shared link. Well, regardless, I am unfamiliar with our device having that cid number. Though, if confirmed that it does, then I will take note of that for future referencing.

Flushing the cache doesn't make any difference.
I still get stuck at the screen with "Entering Recovery..." in pink over the normal HTC boot logo.
Procedure is to flush cache, then on the device select "Bootloader" (bootloader seems to reload I guess) the select "Recovery".

When you boot in to the bootloader, it immediately checks your sdcard for certain files. Then it disappears just as quickly as it came. Can you confirm that it shows one of them saying, PL80IMG.zip? (Sorry, want to ask, because I personally believe your device isn't what you think it is)(and if I am wrong, well, better safe than sorry is all I can say lol).

The RUU has LE in the title which is for the XE so i presuming i have the right RUU. As far as rooting when i got the phone it was rooted but it wouldnt go past boot animation so i did a factory reset. I have tried many custom roms, i.e. darkforest but still i have the same issue?

if you have adb/fastboot setup
connect the phone from booltoader to pc (phone should read fastboot usb after this)
then open command prompt from adb/fastboot folder ( if windows .. hold shift + right click -> open command window here)
then type this
fastboot getvar all
post the complete output here excluding IMEI
if you dont have adb/fastboot setup ..check this guide

Thats why i dont understand this problem only happens with ICS Rom, gingerbread works fine, anyway
Ive contacted HTC and they want me to send the phone for repair, what do i need to change before sending? Im guessing i should flash stock RUU but what about S-off and unlocked bootloader?

I've seen this. Ppl complaining that ics roms have weird screen flickering or black screen and gingerbread running fine.. But within fef more days the problem came to gingerbread for them too.. So best solution is to send it back to htc..
For that.. Flash correct ruu. Based on your cid/carrier/country . Then change back cid.. And if you did htc-dev unlocked over soff.. Then you need to re lock the bootloader too.. Then finally (should be last step) do SON..

If htc-dev unlocked is done after soff then not possible to make it locked.. Or rather there is hard way of doing it.. SON.. Then do juopunutbear soff again.. And say no to jb hboot it gives you locked bootloader then once again ruu and SON

if the bootloader says relocked do you think htc will refuse warranty?
Happy to say HTC have reapired the phone. The imei on the phone has changed so they must have changed the motherboard. Great service fixed within a week

[Q] Sensation XE Bootloop

Hi,
I'm having a bootloop on my sensation xe. I never used a custom rom or anything, and last week i got the following error while updating an app:
"Couldn’t install on USB storage or SD card" I rebooted my phone, and then i got stuck in a bootloop (booting till the htc logo, then rebooting).
I tried to flash a stock RUU from fastboot following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672425 . The command line showed no errors while flashing, but this didn't help.
Also flashing 4ext and cwm recoveries didn't work, the commandline showed no errors, but on the screen of my phone the little progress bar on the upper right side never got filled, and the recovery just goes straight to the htc logo, and then rebooting again..
Version:
Relocked
Pyramid pvt ship s-on rl
hboot-1.29.0000
eMMc-boot
cid: HTC__E11
mid: PG5813001
Is there anything else i can try, or should i send it out to be repaired?
Thanks in advance!

Running the ruu again now. I did try a factory reset, but again it jumps straight to the htc logo and then loops again
Edit: Same thing, rom update successfull, but keeps boot looping.. I did notice that the update seem to jump from 65% to 100% very fast, could that mean something?
You have latest hboot (1.29), AFAIK it cannot be completely unlocked.
Also, it is 'Relocked' ? Use htc dev token to unlock it again, than flash 4ext, and use it with 'smartflash' turned on.

can you do update to firmware 2.15 with S-ON and no SuperCID (it's still Roger001)?
cause I'm getting lost connection and random reboots with Viper XL 4.2.0
I tried Beastmode kernel but WiFi stopped working..
No you can't. Maybe it's time you got SuperCID and s-off, it's a good thing to have anyway.

believe me I want to!
but I'm not sure how to do it yet.
(chicken-egg situation, lol)
I've read conflicting things, like you have to have SuperCID first before you S-off..
but then I read that you need to S-off first
which one is it?
If you can't read and understand the instructions in the S-OFF thread you are not ready

Get s-off before they patch it in the next update. Besides, you can fully customize your systems with kernels easily
Did I mention no fastboot commands?

It's stated pretty clearly in the s-off thread that you must have SuperCID first. I'm not sure where you think you read that s-off is required for SuperCID but that's 100% incorrect.

I'm not accusing anyone of anything! lol
and I'm obviously not an Android guru..
As you can see from my number of posts, I'm not a regular here!
so I wasn't following the progress of things..
and I'm not familiar with the specific thread you guys mention.
I was mostly using Google,
and trying to find someone with a Rogers version, to see how they did it.
And almost every bit I found would read "SuperCID for S-off" so I assumed that you need an S-off device in order to get SuperCID..
Ok, I wouldn't suggest going to any site for info other than XDA, you could end up with incorrect information as other sites don't properly distinguish between models. Long story short, stay on XDA and specifically within this forum.
You can get SuperCID using hex edit method. Then you can get s-off using Facepalm S-off.

You are definitely on the right site but you need to read through the directions and understand what they mean. It's important that you know just what S-Off and Super CID mean to the phone before you try these procedures out. Taking a test drive without getting ALL the steps (and there are more) in order and correct CAN and WILL brick your phone. Bottom line...spend the time researching what you need to do to get where you want to be. Good luck out there.

thanks a million!
you sir are a true gentleman.
I followed the SuperCID instructions and everything seemed to work perfectly.
Now when I type: fastboot oem readcid in fastboot I get: (bootloader) cid: 11111111
which is great, but I also have an app called CID Getter (with a cupcake icon), and that app is telling me that my CID is [ROGER001].
Before I go any further, I need your help!
what does it mean?
I rebooted in fastboot again and fastboot oem readcid command still gives me 11111111
CID Getter doesn't display the correct CID, I'm not sure where it pulls it from but it's incorrect. The 11111111 you get from the fastboot command is your true CID so you can go ahead and proceed with s-off.

Hi i am pretty new to the forums but have been flashing roms for awhile. I have super cid and s-off and recently upgraded to 2.15 after I was having a lot of random reboots/boot loops/no signal on CM10.2, CarbonJB, Beanstalk. I could only get my phone to boot with the 2.14 hboot when i flashed KickDroid but there were still no signal problems and some random reboots.
This seems to be fixed with the 2.15 hboot but I've been wanting to return to a pure android rom for awhile. I hear 2.15 does not work with any non-sense roms and indeed when i tried to flash CM10.2 again it would bootloop. I have heard however, in random threads throughout the forums that i could possibly use 2.15 hboot along with the Beastmode kernel to run Beanstalk.
Does anybody who is more knowledgeable than me at these things know which roms are now compatible with the 2.15 update?

AOSP-wise, I'm pretty sure CFX is 2.15 compatible
Sent from my HTC One XL using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
CM10.2 is definitely compatible with the 2.15 firmware package, the bootloop was likely caused by the current bugs with the ROM itself.

[Q]

I have HTC One X- AT&T(Evita) With S4 processor. In fastboot, First three Lines are:
Tempered
Locked
S off
I went through complete process, mentioned at HTC devs, but un-successful. the following error occured:
Error 160
MID not allowed
I have to change CID, but for doing this, i must have root access.
Please anybody guide me step by step procedure to root/bootloader unlock?
You don't need root access, because you have s-off. You can simply use fastboot to change the CID to SuperCID.
Code:
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
Next time, do a bit of research before creating a thread. Pretty much every question you could think of asking has been asked, and answered within our forum. Check out all of the links in my signature, almost everything you'll ever need can be found there.

The at&t CID is blocked at htcdev, so you need to get SuperCID in order to unlock your bootloader. Reading the stickied threads (specifically the Evita FAQ thread) in the section you've just posted in world have uncovered this information. You're gonna want to read all of the threads in my signature so you can familiarise yourself with this device, and so you don't ask a question that's already been asked and answered a million times before.
Please post your hboot version, you'll find that in your bootloader screen.
You said earlier that you have s-off, why it s-on now?

That doesn't really make sense. The recovery screen isn't white, are you talking about the bootloader? And can you please be more specific about what's happening? I can't help you if you're giving vague two sentence posts like that.

I actually meant do you want a Sense ROM or an aosp ROM? Asking which ROM is best/most stable/fastest/prettiest, or asking for a suggestion isn't allowed so I can't answer that, here's why. To say one ROM is better is to infer that the others are inferior in some way. This is disrespectful to the devs who spend their spare time bringing us these awesome ROMs free of charge. Each user has different tastes anyway, the best way to see which ROM suits you is to flash a few and find out for yourself.
Our dev sections are as follows:
One XL Android Development (mainly Sense ROMs)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1541
One XL Original Android Development (aosp ROMs)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1726
Have a look through the available ROMs and pick one you think will suit you.

Is that the exact command you're giving? It looks like you're missing the ".zip" on the end of the filename. For example, if the filename is "openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0.zip" then the command should look like this:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0.zip
If you have filename extensions (.exe, .doc, .zip) turned off in Windows, this could be the reason why you're missing the extension from the command.

[HELP] HTC Sensation 4G Bricked?

Hi all! I have a bricked HTC Sensation 4G (T-Mobile) that I am trying to fix.
I need help with RUUing the HTC Sensation 4G. (Z710e)
I believe I have tried everything, all without luck, please help, TIA.
Heres the problem with the phone- It appears to be stuck in a bootloop, boots up to the white HTC screen, makes the HTC startup chime with Quietly Brilliant written under it, and then immediately reboots, and continuously does this over and over again.
Heres what I know about the phone
The Bootloader is Locked
The Phone is S-ON
The CID of the phone is HTC__621
Here's what I've tried
I have tried RUUing the phone with RUU_PYRAMID_ICS_TMOUS_3.32.531.14_Radio_11.69A.3504.00U_11.23.3504.07_M2_release_256085_signed.exe
since it is a T-Mobile HTC Sensation 4G. However I keep getting Error 130: Model ID error.
I also tried RUUing the phone manually using CMD, following the guide however this failed aswell, I kept getting "remote: 12 signature verify fail" at the end.
I also tried renaming extracting the rom.zip from the RUU, renaming that to PG58IMG.zip, placing that on my sd card and booting the phone into bootloader. However when I tried this it said checking PG158.img, but nothing happened, it just continued to boot up to the bootloader.
At this point I realized maybe that this RUU didn't match my CID, which was why it was failing. So I tried opening the ROM.zip file however it said it was corrupt in windows explorer. I then tried redownloading the RUU but it still kept saying ROM.zip was corrupt. I then opening ROM.zip with winrar and it opened up! I then opened android-info.text and saw that the cidnum for the RUU was T-MOB0101. I tried changing this to my CID (HTC__621) and then saving as instructed in this guide, however when I pressed on YES to update the files in the archive, winrar gives an error and says that the archive is corrupt, and does not update android-info.text.
I am not sure what else to try at this point, and I am stumped as to why none of the following methods I've tried worked. Is there something I am doing wrong? Is there anything I'm missing? Any help would be very gladly appreciated, as I am out of ideas.
Also worth noting, I've attached 2 pictures below as attachements to this post, (since I am new to xdadevelopers I cannot post direct links to images), one of the bootloader of the phone, including information such as my hboot version, radio version, etc. in case its needed.
I've also attached a picture below of what happens when I put the phone into HTC stock android recovery and press Factory Data Wipe/Reset. I get a bunch of errors, I'm not sure if this is related to anything but it doesn't look normal, so I attached a picture of it below.
Thanks in advance!

You can access bootloader so no problems here. Unlock bootloader through htcdev. In fastboot mode flash latest 4ext recovery, enable smartflash in settings, then flash a custom rom. You can also try Android Revolution HD rom if you prefer a stock look.

Strange... Make sure you copy and paste right from the beginning to the end. You can also try to move your adb/fastboot folder somewhere else for example to the desktop and try resubmitting the token from there. (Might sound stupid but works sometimes). If not, you need to find the right RUU for your device and RUU it, then follow this guide for s-off: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26280760 there are some devices htcdev unlock doesn't work unfortunately... Otherwise I have no other idea, sorry. Somebody might be able to help.

Thanks again for your response, I just did it again this time with my fastboot folder on the desktop, however I still got the same error. How would I find the right RUU for my device? It is an american HTC Sensation 4G from T-Mobile with its CID: HTC__621. I haven't been able to find another RUU for it other than the one I used as previously mentioned in my original post. If anyone has the link to the right RUU I could use for this device, it would be really helpful. Thanks again.

Your firmware version (3.33.709.6) is an Asian one. Try downloading this ruu and run it: http://androidruu.com/getdownload.p...0U_11.24A.3504.31_M_release_266490_signed.exe

Hi, thanks again for your help! The RUU completed successfully this time!!! However, unfortunately, for some reason it is still bootlooping :/
When I turn it on, it shows the HTC logo, plays the little chime with Quitely Brilliant written under HTC, makes a very silent beep noise, and reboots. It keeps on doing this again and again.
Any ideas on what to do next? Why would the phone do this?

Well, I'm out of ideas now. At least the ruu worked. Try maybe the htcdev unlock again now. Get a new token and submit that. And go for the normal sensation option on htcdev site and NOT for the 4g

UPDATE!! I just got the phone to sorta bootup once! It booted up to a configuring android screen (in japanese) and then it shut right off, and started rebooting again. Why is the phone constantly and randomly rebooting like this? I've heard some people said it was the battery but the battery seemed to hold a fairly long charge in bootloader mode, so I don't see why this would be the issue. Anyways I will try an htcdev unlock now and see if that works, will update soon.
