Sorry for the necro post, but I had an Assurance Wireless phone that my kid set a PIN on, and then didnt know what it was. I set out to find a way to reset the phone. Not a lot of info out there. I started by looking at your list of know codes...most made words so I began trying. I found a winner
##CLEAR# (##25327#)
Will prompt, and will then reset. Data seems intact, leaving txts and call history. After reboot, phone goes through auto setup, updating PRL and looking for firmware etc. After reset, PIN was removed, and phone usable again.

[How To] Retrieve MSL CDMA Workshop Method

Update 9/14/10 -- There is an app in the market called MSL Reader that successfully found my MSL. It does require root access, my method will still work for phones that are not rooted. Thanks flexgrip for pointing this out, and mmastrac for the hard work developing the app.

}
Since the other method using aLogCat doesn't seem to work for everyone, this is a more consistent method.
Please be very careful with CDMA Workshop. I am not responsible for your curiosity, or stupidity!
I have included screenshots for installing the drivers on Windows 7 x64. This seems to be a little different for most users, so I hope this helps. Windows XP should be pretty similar to below. You can enter Device Manager the same way. Some of the prompts will be slightly different, but at the end most of the same dialogs will appear.
Prerequisites:
CDMA Workshop - http://www.cdma-ware.com/workshop.html
The Demo version will be able to retrieve the MSL.
HTC Diag Drivers - http://www.techwerkz.com/evo/HTCDiagDrivers.zip
I have compiled this zip which includes both x86 (32 bit), and x64 (64 bit) drivers for HTC diagnostics. I have successfully tested the x64 drivers on Windows 7, and all works without issue.
The Fun Part
Step 1 - Dial ##DIAG# (##3424#) on your phone.
Step 2 - Connect the phone to the computer via the USB cable. When prompted to install the drivers use the drivers from the ZIP provided above.
Windows will probably not be able to find the drivers:
You will need to manually install the drivers from Device Manager. Quickest way to get there is to press the Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog. Type in devmgmt.msc:
Once Device Manager is open you will see it cannot find the HTC Diag driver :
Right click on HTC Diag, and go to Update Driver. You will be prompted with the following, choose Browse my Computer. Then choose Let me Pick. Click Next. Click Have Disk. Browse to the drivers you downloaded, and choose the proper INF file. Click Next. Then finally Yes, if prompted :
If all went well you will see it installing the driver. Then finally let you know it was successfully installed!
Step 3 - Run CDMA Workshop you downloaded earlier.
Once CDMA Workshop is open click the word Port found on the right:
You will be given the options to select the correct COM port (Please note the demo version will only go to COM6. If you have an issue with this please Google how to change the COM port to something not in use.):
Once the correct COM port is selected click Connect:
Head over to the Security tab and click Read under the SPC / User Lock section:
If all has gone well you will be given your MSL code! It is the 6 digit number listed after pressing Read. Great Success!
Testing
The following sections should prompt for your MSL code. Enter what you have retrieved to find out if it is in fact the correct MSL code.
##data# (##3282#)
##debug#(##33284#)
##diag#(##3424#)
##svn#(##786#)
##prl#(##775#)
##prev#(##7738#)
##akey#(##2539#)
##vocoder# (##8626337#)
If you followed the steps correctly, the code should work.
Hope this helps everyone with finding their MSL when Sprint will not give it to you. Again, I am not responsible for what you do with this information. This is a use at your own risk method!

Yes. It will work on a lot of devices.
Yup! Worked perfectly. Thank you!
I had to restart my phone before it would work but after a quick restart everything worked as advertised

Not everyone was having the same luck. There are other ways to get your MSL. My corporate account rep gives me mine on all my phones when I ask. However, this is a method that will work for the masses, and not rely on customer service feeling giving or not.
I get this error when I try to run the SPC/User lock read.
Any Ideas?

Try power cycling the phone. Then try once more.
alright...that worked...i swear i've restarted the phone before...
Thanks again!
Why not chat up sprint and ASK for the MSL... thats what I did... and they just gave it to me... same with my HTC Hero... they just gave it to me if you ask nicely.

great info. thanks a lot for this.
although EYE am havin a problem, i have a moto Q9c (sprint) and it isnt showing up on CDMA wrk.
i have activesync going and it connects fine to the phone.
i cannot even find the darn thing in device mang...
any ideas?
Worked great for me... Thanks!
Great
Had to restart phone when I changed the Com port, worked perfectly, thanx.
Worked like a charm for me. Thanks!
Here's a surefire way to get Sprint to give you the MSL with one phone call... Tell them you keep getting error 1012 whenever you try to use data or update the profile. They'll walk you through fixing the "error", and they have to give you the MSL in the process. Works every single time without fail!
Dude this works great and is quick, probably quicker than sitting through Sprint message prompts.
this works perfect it gave me the code but after that what can i do with im a noob sorry guys

[Q] SPH-L720 NV Dump Request, Any format.

tldr: Looking for a dump on stock NAE firmware of the SPH-L720. Feel free to block out anything pertaining to IMEI, ect, all of that is in tact.
Some freak accident caused some NV values to be written with SGH-M919 data.
The full story:
I was running Insane Kit Kat V11 on this device which works great for T-Mobile (no LTE though... we'll get back to this).
After tinkering with a few modem files and whatnot I stumbled across an article on how to enable missing LTE bands on devices by editing the NV data. After kicking around with the idea I finally concluded it wasn't going to work.
If you're going to tinker with this idea at all I suggest using the DFS CDMA Tool. Its very simple to use compared to the other NV read/write utilities and has built in band selection (so no worrying about doing any silly calculations).
SSU.apk was used to unlock the phone any time the SIM was not recognized.
Conclusion: T-Mobile LTE will not function on this device no matter how you attempt to coax it.
Alright no problem. I'll just do an NV_Restore operation from my phone's Service Menu.
Only I'm running on firmware for the SGH-M919...
Phone reboots. Starts popping errors.
Alright... I'll flash to factory NAE.
The phone pops even more errors and the phone is crawling. Windows recognises it as an SGH-M919 even with stock SPH-L720 firmware now.
I managed to get to the Service Menu waiting a good 10 seconds between each keypress.
I was finally able to restore some correct NV data as now it registers to Sprint again and is able to run the CPU properly, however, now even on V11 I am unable to connect to any GSM providers.
As well, on stock firmware the device is still seen as SGH-M919 by windows when connecting as a media device.
An NV dump from a stock SPH-L720 would be fantastic. I know I should have backed this up beforehand, but I wasn't looking to edit more than the two values for LTE. Help
NV Dump Instructions:
Prerequites:
Odin
Samsung USB Drivers for Mobile Phones
DFS CDMA Tool
Stock NAE Rom
MDC Modem – (Flash with Odin in Phone slot in Recovery mode after flashing NAE).
Sprint Samsung Unlocker – (If your phone is SIM locked)
TWRP Recovery – (To make flashing back more simple)
SPC Utility – (If you don’t have your SPC code. May be unnecessary)
Instructions:
Setup:
1. Make a backup of your phone using whatever recovery means you’d like.
2. Install Odin
3. Install Samsung USB Drivers for Mobile Phones
4. Install DFS CDMA Tool
5. Flash Stock NAE Rom following the instructions listed in that thread.
6. Flash MDC Modem with phone in recovery mode using Odin placing the file in “Phone” slot.
7. Flash TWRP Recovery using Odin in the PDA slot to enable flashing of CFW after completed.
8. Launch into recovery mode (hold vol up, menu, power) clear dalvik/cache (possibly format) and install SuperSU on exit.
9. Boot phone and run setup, connect to Wifi.
10. Install SPC Utility apk and run to retrieve your SPC code. Requires internet access.
11. Install Sprint Samsung Unlocker and run to SIM unlock your phone.
This should bring you to a fresh rooted SIM unlocked SPH-L720 and have all the utilities needed to complete backing up NV values.
Now to put the phone in diagnostic mode and backup NV data:
1. Go to your dialer and type ##3424# Be sure to type ##. Most commands are *# so this can be confusing.
2. It may or may not ask for your SPC code. Enter it if it does.
3. Select the RNDIS + DM + Modem mode. (you may need to click Qualcomm USB Settings first)
4. Once in Diagnostic mode connect VIA usb to your PC.
5. You should see two new Samsung devices install.
6. Launch the DFS CDMA Tool.
7. Double click the first Samsung COM device

8. Enter the SPC where highlighted yellow and press the NV button highlighted in red.
9. This menu should appear. Click “Read Range” highlighted in yellow and wait for a while. After it is completed you should see a list of values appear. Click the Plus highlighted in red and save the NVF file.
That should get me what I need. Feel free to use TWRP to flash any CFW or Odin to flash any Modem you’d like after the fact.
Again any help is appreciated. These instructions should make the work easier.
You will forever have my gratitude and possibly some cash when I get paid on the 6/19.

LG MEID Changer (work well for V20)

I tried a lot of methods for fix my MEID but any tools like QPST/CDMA DFS/CDMA WORKSHOP all doesn't work.

Usage: Enable Port Check Test in Hidden Menu(SVC Menu - Port Check Test). And turn on USB debugging,
Connect to PC, select Files Transfer. And you will see a COM port in device manager. (If not, you shoud install LG USB Driver)
Open this tool, select your COM port and click Connect, if your current MEID shows it means work fine.
Just enter a new MEID and click Write Hex MEID.
(Notice: The new one just type in DEC but not HEX, even it says "Write Hex MEID", I think this is a bug lol)
Thanks a lot. I dropped my v20 and it turned itself off. After powering it back on, I had no mobile network connection and my imei was reported as null. Running this program and connecting, disconnecting then restarting my handset was enough to fix the issue without even having to enter my imei in the box. Thanks a million.

[GUIDE]Obtaining SPC/MSL Code for LG V20

Some model of V20 like LS997, SPC/MSL Code is not 000000. But many methods about obtaining SPC code is not work for V20.
The reason is, the hiddenmenu command changed in V20, so ##3282# no longer works.
So the command for V20 is ##7764726+ModelNumber. (For example LS997 is ##7764726997)
The principle of obtaining is same as those ##3282# methods, It is, when you type a wrong SPC Code in ##3282#(V20 is ##7764726997), a right code will be output in logcat.
So first just get ready for obtaining android's logcat. You can use adb logcat >xxx to fetch logcat into a file, or you can do it on you phone. Otherwise, just get the logcat that ok, but you need to make it easy to search or filtering.
OK just type ##7764726+ModelNumber on dial pad, and click dial button.
Now "Service Code" appears, just enter 6 numbers randomly, it will says it is wrong.
Just repeat that 2~3 times (It makes the logcat easy to search)
OK Now search OEM_HOOK_RAW in your logcat which you just obtained. Between two OEM_HOOK_RAW, you can see a "HexData"
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Just count the number between "3" from the last one of HexData. Counting for 6 times, the number is your SPC/MSL Code.
For example, my HexData is 00000000ef030000000000000a00000006000000333539383234
So my SPC/MSL Code is 359824
Thanks!
##7764726+ModelNumber code didn't do anything for me, but I got an MSL prompt via ##3282# / LTE / Edit. Other menus under ##DATA# also prompt for Service Code, i.e., eHRPD / Edit.
Verified this on LS997 with ZVA stock firmware, non-rooted.

its work very good in ls997 zvd
I have a LS997 still on vz7 so the old menu ##3282# still works. My phone is not rooted though. I can't view logcat because if root permission. Any other logcat apps out there that do not require root? I appreciate it!

You don't need root to get logcat logs.
You can use adb logcat on your computer, you'd connect phone by USB to PC and see Android logs on the computer console.
See how to enable developer mode and use adb logcat.
Will it work on LS99720A after Oreo update?
