[Resolved] [Q] Problem syncing with Google Servers - General Questions and Answers

Full disclosure, I have already asked this in the Galaxy Nexus section of the site. But I noticed that some other people across other devices have had very similar issues. So hopefully someone, at some point has been able to solve this conundrum.
Here is my current situation:
About a week ago, I noticed that I had stopped receiving notifications from Gmail. I could still open the Gmail app and read my emails, so I didn't think much about it. Then 3 days later, I noticed that none of my email was showing up, and when I would try and refresh or sync from within Gmail, I got a message that there was no network connection. After that, I went into my Account Settings to verify that I had not somehow accidentally turned off Gmail sync. It was, in fact, still checked. However, it showed that it had not been able to sync since 2/13. Additionally, my Google Calendar, Google Play Music, People Details, and one or two other services are not able to sync. There is a message at the bottom of this screen that says "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly". Like I stated, this has been the case for 5 days.
I will also list what I've done to try and fix it so far, just so I don't get a bunch of suggestions that I've already tried.
- Clear cache for affected applications. No Change.
- Clear DATA for affected applications. No Change.
- Turn off, then turn on Sync for my Google account several times, with and without rebooting in between. No Change.
- Wipe the Rom, then install a new Rom and kernel. Upon doing this, I could not even get past the registration, as the phone repeatedly said that it was unable to contact Google servers. This was attempted both on LTE and WiFi. I eventually had to Restore via CWM.
The device is a VZW Galaxy Nexus, running the FML fork of CM11 and has the Mpokang 1080p kernel. I have been running this setup for a few months with no issues at all. Gmail still syncs and functions fine on my Xperia Play and Kindle Fire when on WiFi, so it doesn't seem to be an overall problem with my Google account.
Any other ideas as to what I might try?
I've also attached screenshots of the issue. Two of the images show what my Google Account Sync looks like, and one image shows all I can see when I go into the Gmail app. I did black out my account name, but that is all.

Last night, my Google Play Store stopped working. So I did a little more research, and was able to resolve the problem. If anyone runs into this issue in the future, it was simply a matter of having a somehow corrupted hosts file. If you use ES File Explorer (or other similar app), navigate to your root directory, go to /system/etc and find the file called "hosts" without a file extension. You have to mount r/w, then rename, move, or delete the hosts file. Once this is done, reboot the device. It took a bit longer to fully reboot, but once it did, all functionality returned.

[Q] [ISSUE] Gtalk, Market, Gmail, Sync... nothing work over wifi

Hi
For the last two days i had a lot of issues with the G_Apps, everythings worked perfectly since before yesterdar, then:
> I couldn't enter in GTALK;
> the market purchases didn't download;
> new email didn't notify me neither appear...
I was trying to reconnect and reconnect... searched some possible solutions (wipe cache, clear data...) but nothing worked.
I had, all the time, internet over wifi, and i could go the the browser without issue in the navigation...
I realise then that the WIFI icon were not Blue (as usual) but Grey (see screenshot, some kind of limitations??) i don't know...
Today i did two HARD RESETS, with the first one it worked during sometime (the icon return to blue status) but i couldn't get into the market in the TF (but in my computer i could buy and was installed in my TF)... however sometime after the issue reappeared...
NOW: Grey icon, internet in the browser, no internet on the Gtalk, market, Gmail, Dropbox...
what should i do?

Blue WiFi bars mean that you're connected both to the Internet and Google services (e.g. Gmail), grey is just Internet - hence your lack of Gmail connectivity despite normal web browsing working (although it's odd that Dropbox also doesn't work in this scenario). Could you please provide some more info on your particular setup? Is your TF rooted (and if so what ROM/kernel are you running) or are you running on the same stuff you had in the box?
Suddenly having similar issues today. Bought the device last week and had no problems. Suddenly today no mail sync and market not working properly. I always get the message that i need to login in order to authenticate although I am logged in. Cant download anything. Hope it's an issue on Googles side. Having stock Rom and no changes.

Hi
Thank you.
My TF is not rooted and the ROM is the in the box oficial Asus Rom...

I had this issue with my Transformer. I think it's the same one anyway.
If you can open Gmail, does your inbox show you having messeges, but the messeges not appear? If you then go to All Mail, are they there? For me they were, but tapped to open, they wouldn't display.
I'm sorry to say, only a factory reset fixed this issue for me. First appeared about two weeks after purchase, after the reset it's been just over a week and still going ok for me.
suddenly, it works...
i went out for a few hours and when i'd come back, the Gapps worked... the wifi icon is now blue again and it seems that everything is fine...
i didn't make a backup so now i must reinstall all apps due the previous hard resets...

[Q] ✔HELP✔Android got pattern locked & not even asking GOOGLE ACCOUNT RESET ✔HORRIBLE
I thought i should ask this here as i see some people have suffered this and its some android thing..especially latest version of android like kitkat and lollipop(especially)
The phone is HTC One M8 Eye My elderly Relative actually reset her pattern yesterday (to complex one to prevent misuse by some relative kids) but forgot it later
We know the gmail account and password too but ITS INSANE that even after trying so many patterns (>100), its not giving us any option to reset using google account

Its not even giving us any "forgot password?" option . THIS is so HORRIBLE as we seem to be locked out and Data is important (on phone storage) so we dont want to factory reset
(I have read some(very few) instances of people sharing this horror ...but cant find any solution...its very common with LOLLIPOP (is it?)

We have tried pressing buttons etc, restarting, no such option comes.
Further the fact the data network is on on it and gmail mails are synchronising properly means gmail account logging has no problem either.
The phone is not rooted and completely with stock ROM
I have tried ways to delete the pattern.key file but i think they are not working as phone is not rooted and on default stock recovery
I tried AROMA File Manager, etc.Details
Can anyone please help or give some ideas . Thanks in advance
This seems to too common lately..SO many people complaining and losing their data. What a shame that they cant reset it (atleast i cant found anything till now), even when they have google credentials.. Read that even ADM (Android Device manager) cant unlock it

Looks like google spawned up this more S H I T in LOLLIPOP along with their crap heads-up notification banners,etc
Another One BIG REASON people should not run for UPDATES of the latest **** around.... like zombies running for flesh
Shame on u google.
Morons say that the reset option only works upto Android 4.4

So why the hell they spawned this LOLLIPOP crap? so that people dont have any opportunity ever to get access to their device, if they forget the password/pin/pattern once

Notification problem on Facebook App Tap Login Screen

Hey guys, I have a problem I cannot seem to figure out.. Probably a week or two ago I stopped getting logged out notifications, I use the Tap login (saved password login) where it shows your picture and you tap it once to log in, the problem is it no longer shows the red dot with the number of notifications waiting anymore. Here are the things I've tried.
Going to APPS in Settings and checking that "Show Notifications" is enabled, which it is.

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Went to in-app Settings and Notification Settings (assuming that even has any effect on Logged out notifications I'm not sure if it does or not.) Still appears to be ok settings.
Other things I've tried:
Clearing FB app cache.
Clearing FB app data.
Unintalling FB app completely (including files left after uninstall)
Reinstalling FB app.
Clearing Cache from Recovery Mode.
Factory Reset from Recovery Mode.
None of which has fixed the problem.
Here are some details that may be useful:
Phone: ZTE ZMAX2 (z958)
Android OS Version: 5.1 Lollipop
Facebook App version: 180.0.0.35.82
I thought maybe FB broke something in one of their updates or something but everyone knows FB has next to nothing as far as support, they do have the "report a problem" on facebook but you always get an automated reply and never really know if your getting anywhere by reporting it. Also the developer email on google play but again with so many users I imagine the amount of support emails I doubt they are able to monitor them efficiently.
Anyone have any ideas whatsoever as to what the problem could be? Could it be an android setting somewhere that is blocking the apps logged out notifications? Or possibly app not syncing?
Any help would be appreciated.
bump... Anyone?

Play Store downloads/updates taking hours

Since a month or so Play Store takes literally hours to download or update apps. This happens on wifi and mobile data, no other app has connection issues, Play Store works fine on my old Samsung and OnePlus phones. I tried restarting my phone to no avail, power and data saving modes are turned off.
Any one got an idea what's causing this?
If they fail with error 92x then you can try clearing the cache and data of playstore and Google framework. Uninstalling the updates for these will do the same. This may not work, but it might.
There may be an issue with the account. Wipe the account from your device and re-add it. This is more than likely going to work.
Failing that it will be a full factory reset and you will need to make plans for backups to reinstate your data. This will definitely work.

I had tried clearing cache and data before, doesn't work.
Now I tried wiping the account from my device, but I'm not sure I'm doing it right. I go to setting -> accounts & sync tap on my Google account then tap remove account. Although that logged me out on all Google apps, my device somehow still remembers my Google account's email address which I don't use for anything else as you can see in the screenshots.

Yes it does, cause the device gets bound to the Gmail account registered at first boot. It's something like Apple binding a device to the iCloud account first registered with it.
To remove it fully, you have to login to your Google account from a PC, and navigate to the account overview page. There you can got to
Device Activities & Security Events > Last Used Devices > Check Devices
and disconnect the device from your Google account. Once that's done, and you rebooted, the Google account should be gone.

omacp "unsupported browser", what browser?

I've got a Unihertz Jelly 2 with T-Mobile service. It's running Android 11. First thing I did when getting it, about two weeks ago, was disable a bunch of Google-ish apps because I'd mostly like Google out of my life. I know from past experience that I can't disable them all because, eg, play store is too useful for me to do without. I'm afraid I may have caused this issue I'm seeing because of my disable frenzy and I'm hoping someone can help me understand what's gone wrong.
Every couple of days I get these messages from number 2903: "We see your phone does have correct settings to access the internet or send MMS. Settings will be sent to your handset."

}
They are accompanied by notifications from Omacp app:
In Omacp I see requests to install things. When I click the button to do the full install I get a report that the APN installed fine but the "browser" failed:
Afterwards it tells me the browser is "unsupported":
What "browser" is it talking about? I thought it might have been Chrome, which was one of the apps I disabled, but re-enabling Chrome did not resolve this.
Still disabled on my phone: Assistant, Calculator, Calendar, Drive, Duo, Files by Google, Google TV, Keep Notes, Photos, Youtube, Youtube Music.
Not disabled (because I thought it would break stuff, I coudn't, or the warning messages too dire): Android Accessibility Suite, Android Auto, Android System Webview, Carrier Services, Game Mode, Gboard, Gmail, Google, Google Play Store, Maps, Messages, Phone, Settings, Sim Toolkit.
When I get the messages from 2903 for omacp, I need to do the install or MMS messaging does not work. This sort of feels like it should be happening automatically in the background.
I have the same issue. Any resolution on this?
What browser
@neccowafer
Delete Omacp: it's a virus!
The virus may perform the following malware-related activities without your permission:
Periodically scan the phone.
Obtain the phone's contacts.
Complete control of the SMS solution.
Complete control over the phone calls phone.
Changing the malicious web server from which virus files are downloaded.
Creating a lock screen on your device and displaying a third-party website.
Running scripts that collect password and username information for various purposes.
Turning off and/or restarting your device.
This is why removing the OMACP virus from your Android is highly advisable.
