Since a month or so Play Store takes literally hours to download or update apps. This happens on wifi and mobile data, no other app has connection issues, Play Store works fine on my old Samsung and OnePlus phones. I tried restarting my phone to no avail, power and data saving modes are turned off.
Any one got an idea what's causing this?
If they fail with error 92x then you can try clearing the cache and data of playstore and Google framework. Uninstalling the updates for these will do the same. This may not work, but it might.
There may be an issue with the account. Wipe the account from your device and re-add it. This is more than likely going to work.
Failing that it will be a full factory reset and you will need to make plans for backups to reinstate your data. This will definitely work.

I had tried clearing cache and data before, doesn't work.
Now I tried wiping the account from my device, but I'm not sure I'm doing it right. I go to setting -> accounts & sync tap on my Google account then tap remove account. Although that logged me out on all Google apps, my device somehow still remembers my Google account's email address which I don't use for anything else as you can see in the screenshots.

Yes it does, cause the device gets bound to the Gmail account registered at first boot. It's something like Apple binding a device to the iCloud account first registered with it.
To remove it fully, you have to login to your Google account from a PC, and navigate to the account overview page. There you can got to
Device Activities & Security Events > Last Used Devices > Check Devices
and disconnect the device from your Google account. Once that's done, and you rebooted, the Google account should be gone.

I'm on CM 4.4.2 and I've had this issue a few times now. My Google account syncs properly except for Gmail which is "stuck" in an out of date sync. No matter what I do, Gmail refuses to update itself. This results in not getting new mail notifications, and not being able to see any new email since the last sync.
Things I've tried:
Rebooting
Clearing Gmail cache
Clearing Gmail app data + cache
Forcing a resync in Settings > accounts
This is what it looks like, you can see here 1 minute before the screenshot I forced a resync of my Google account, everything updates fine except for Gmail which is stuck on 2014-01-20.

After clearing app data + cache, Gmail is stuck on this screen:
The only way to workaround the issue is to remove my entire Google account and set it back up again on the device. This is not ideal, and the issue comes back at some point again.
I get this with contacts, it will only sync one time when I flash a new gapps. I have had this issue since I rooted, some 13+ months ago.

Try to flash another rom instead of CM 4.4 see if your gmail is working, if its then probably a bug with CM or you can try to flash different gapp? http://d-h.st/yrl
Do you have any emails stuck sending? If so you would need to delete them along with the above steps of clearing data and such

I don't think its 4.4 related. I have had an issue with my contacts syncing since I rooted over a year ago. I have gone from 4.2-4.4 roms, tw and asop. It didn't matter. I tried different gapps, from 0day to PA to what was recommended by the roms developer. Only after a wipe will I sync one time.

Full disclosure, I have already asked this in the Galaxy Nexus section of the site. But I noticed that some other people across other devices have had very similar issues. So hopefully someone, at some point has been able to solve this conundrum.
Here is my current situation:
About a week ago, I noticed that I had stopped receiving notifications from Gmail. I could still open the Gmail app and read my emails, so I didn't think much about it. Then 3 days later, I noticed that none of my email was showing up, and when I would try and refresh or sync from within Gmail, I got a message that there was no network connection. After that, I went into my Account Settings to verify that I had not somehow accidentally turned off Gmail sync. It was, in fact, still checked. However, it showed that it had not been able to sync since 2/13. Additionally, my Google Calendar, Google Play Music, People Details, and one or two other services are not able to sync. There is a message at the bottom of this screen that says "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly". Like I stated, this has been the case for 5 days.
I will also list what I've done to try and fix it so far, just so I don't get a bunch of suggestions that I've already tried.
- Clear cache for affected applications. No Change.
- Clear DATA for affected applications. No Change.
- Turn off, then turn on Sync for my Google account several times, with and without rebooting in between. No Change.
- Wipe the Rom, then install a new Rom and kernel. Upon doing this, I could not even get past the registration, as the phone repeatedly said that it was unable to contact Google servers. This was attempted both on LTE and WiFi. I eventually had to Restore via CWM.
The device is a VZW Galaxy Nexus, running the FML fork of CM11 and has the Mpokang 1080p kernel. I have been running this setup for a few months with no issues at all. Gmail still syncs and functions fine on my Xperia Play and Kindle Fire when on WiFi, so it doesn't seem to be an overall problem with my Google account.
Any other ideas as to what I might try?
I've also attached screenshots of the issue. Two of the images show what my Google Account Sync looks like, and one image shows all I can see when I go into the Gmail app. I did black out my account name, but that is all.

Last night, my Google Play Store stopped working. So I did a little more research, and was able to resolve the problem. If anyone runs into this issue in the future, it was simply a matter of having a somehow corrupted hosts file. If you use ES File Explorer (or other similar app), navigate to your root directory, go to /system/etc and find the file called "hosts" without a file extension. You have to mount r/w, then rename, move, or delete the hosts file. Once this is done, reboot the device. It took a bit longer to fully reboot, but once it did, all functionality returned.
Any ideas anyone?

this may work on u
1. Remove your google account from phone.
2. Goto settings, open apps.
3. Navigate to All apps.
4. Clear the data for the below mentioned
processes Download Manager ,Google Play Store,
Google Services Framework.
Good luck :fingers-crossed:
Thanks that worked!

SOLVED!!! Finally! Not sure what the fix was exactly (since I tinkered with just everything in this session) but I think it was removing ALL Google accounts (I had 7 total) and possibly combined with toggling Sync and the clear cache & data trick. Here's everything I did:
Updated Google Play services to 4.1.32 (978161-36)
Updated Play Store to 4.4.22
Turned off Sync
Removed all 7 Google accounts
Cleared cache AND data for Google Play services, Google Play Store and Google Services Framework (I know the Google engineer said not to, but F it!)
Restarted the phone
Cleared cache AND data again for the aforementioned apps/services (I'm paranoid/anal)
Restarted the phone again
Turned Sync back on
Re-added just ONE Google account (my primary one)
Cleared cache and data again (told ya!)
Restarted the phone again
All the apps that were giving me the RPC:S-3 error have successfully updated/installed automatically. What a F'ing experience!
Well, 'til the next RPC:S-3 (or RPC:S-5:AEC-0) fiasco...

Do you know what are these? Weird is that there are "*" in some titles. Do you know what are these with star? Do you know what exactly does it sync? Do you know why there are 2 exact same positions? Don't know why one of these options is in english while rest is in Polish. Is everything OK or maybe I should wipe data (I dirty flashed when coming from 4.4.2 to 4.4.3)
Thanks in advance
These are supposedly hidden sync points. Have you installed Greenify?. Greenify Experimental version enables/displays these 'hidden' ones - so you can chose to enable/disable sync on them.
Yes, I installed greenify but never would guess this is because of greenify. Thanks for help
Mine now has 3 options for photos...
Google photos
Auto backup Google photos
Google+ photos
..nice one Google for making your software so easy to understand.. nobs
Can anyone say what exactly does that sync mean:
- Location and location something
- Google Play services
- Push subscription
I was curious about these too. And also why there are 2 "Game Data" options
Also, I unticked a bunch of them (i.e. Push Subscriptions, Google Photos, etc.)
But notice that they get reticked (upon reboot, I think)

Please update to latest ROM/Gapps version and if your issue still persists, open a new thread. This thread was posted back in 2014.

Hi i solved the issue...thanks....
I've had a problem with Google play services before, but never to this caliber. This isn't the phone, but on my primary S7 whenever connected to WiFi or using data I'll get the occasional "Unfortunately, Google play services has stopped" popup. But the thing is, it keeps popping up. Again, again, and again, and it's definitely getting to be a problem. I'll also get an notification saying something along the lines of a Google related app not being able to update or it's not working properly, even when going to the Play store to check updates, it's not there. And even sometimes when trying to open something like Gmail, I get this: "Gmail is having trouble with Google Play Store, if the problem persists, please contact the developer for assistance." Not sure how the heck this all started in the first place.

Tried both, didn't work. I can't even disable or force stop Google play services, and Google Services Framework isn't even its on thing for me, it's under the Google play services, and data usage. Now apparently I messed it up even more possibly cause some actual apps are popping up with a similar message.
When I had my android phone unfortunately google play services has stopped several times before I found a simple solution to it. I downloaded hotspot shield on my mobile and whenever I turned it on, it was always a success.
