I'm trying to decide between the two of them. The both go for $200. I like the sd card on the galaxy.
The Moto G has better specs and build. It has USB otg so you can attach an SD card adapter that way if you must.

I would take the 16gb no SDcard moto G over the Galaxy Express any day, The screen and performance are worth The loss of the sd card
In my opinion, it is a no brainer, The Moto G by far

Moto G all the way. The SD card isn't worth the sacrifices.

Dual 1.2 GHz Krait is a little on the weak side - and especially poor in terms of power consumption.
Of course on single threaded apps it will win - but a quad-A7 at 1.2 GHz is more than fast enough when you don't have Touchwizz bloat.
If it were purely a hardware spec comparison it would be close. But take into account build quality and software quality and the G wins hands-down... ESPECIALLY software quality. Even flagship Samsungs on AT&T have HORRIFIC software support (it's mostly AT&T's fault).
Honestly, ANY phone sold via AT&T themselves is one you should avoid at all costs.
You ask this question in the Moto G section? You already know the answer, then?
Moto G would be my phone of choice if your budget is 200 USD. Straight from Google, what other arguments do you need
It would be dumb if you ignored the night and day difference between these phones!
This phone is better than Samsung s3 in performance wise!
But don't get the 8 GB cause the available free space is mind blowingly low , spend a few extra cash and get the 16 GB.

Thanks for reply's. I ordered the 16gb off amazon.

I437. Not the international model.
The AT&T version uses the same MSM8960 Snapdragon (1.5ghz dual-core)/ Adreno 225 setup as the US Galaxy S III on a SAMOLED+ screen (read: RGB, not Pentile). I owned one for a couple of months and liked what it had to offer, but the screen suffered from that inevitable OLED blue subpixel burn-in. While that may not happen so quickly with other sets, it's annoyingly irreversible.
In any case, the Moto G is probably the better deal unless you absolutely have to have microSD expansion and/or LTE. I'm getting a G in two weeks.
Edit: Plus the device is just positively sexy with the vivid red flip cover.
Edit 2: My initial reasoning behind getting the I437 was audio quality (I need something that will draw out potential in my Yamaha EPH-100s, and Qualcomm's recent DACs aren't half bad), but I've decided to just get an iBasso DX50 for my hifi audio fix.
For those interested, the Moto G has decent audio measurements according to RMAA tests, but with major bass rolloff (it sinks below audible range far too soon, at frequencies I and my Yams could still have enjoyed).

Moto G, based on looking at the kernel source, might be using Motorola's own solution for a codec/amp setup instead of Qcom's WCD93xx - instead of the usual hackery of the codecs that most OEMs do, Moto's kernel source adds a whole bunch of new drivers.
Interesting. I'll have to have a nice sit down with mine when it reaches my hands.

I've no doubt in my mind that Motorola will release a Moto G2 sometime late next year, because of the success of the Moto G.
But what improvement would you like to see, while still keeping the cost down.
I think 4G/LTE could easily be an option next year, but what else?
camera improvements maybe
Colour led, better camera, more RAM, (faster processor) are the main things for me.
All of the above with the same 720p screen and 32GB at $200
Sent from my XT1032 using Tapatalk
2gb RAM or at least 1.5gb, a better processor, maybe The X8 chip... A better camera (8mpx), 4G
But if you ask me ill take the better CPU/GPU/RAM then a better camera or a 1080p screen so they can keep the $200 price tag, 720p its more than enough for smartphones as long as the screen has a good quality... 1080p its already way too much and nos LG wants a 2k screen lol

To keep the cost of the device the same i would like to see a few minor improvements to the current G like 4G, 1.5 to 2gb ram, better camera megapixels don't matter.
Sent from my beautiful Lumia 1020 using Tapatalk
My guesses:
RGB Led
8mp Camera
Either an older Snap 600/S4 Pro (think Nexus 7) or a new, yet unannounced Snap 400 with maybe a new low end GPU (Adreno 307, if you will)
1GB RAM, maybe faster DDR3L
8 and 16GB
Slightly bigger battery, maybe 2.2Ah
Tweaked 720p IPS display
Tweaked design - slightly thinner, slightly lighter
Expecting more than this is setting yourself up for disappointment, IMO.
If I were Moto, I'd keep the first gen G and X around, drop the G to $99 or $79, give the G2 LTE and put it starting at $179, drop the X to $279 and release the new X as a true flagship. You get all the price ranges covered with nice phones and, if kept with the same design and basic layout, without much need for retooling.
Lets just enjoy this awesome phone and worry about the 2nd version later...
Maybe X4 or X6 chip? (Since low end processors dont come with quad core GPU I'm thinking)
Gyrosensor & More Space
4.5 or 4.7" 720p display no need to change this I think.
4G/LTE should be cheap enough to have on midrange phones in 2014
Better camera 8mp BIS Sony Sensor
1080p video, the current snapdragon 400 has 1080p support but wasn't implemented in the Moto G for some reason, maybe because the lack of space with the 8GB version.
New snapdragon processor maybe the 405 clocked at 1.5Ghz with better gpu.
2GB of ram will trickle down to midrange phones in 2014, as the top end smartphones move onto 3GB & 4GB.
Slimmer design.
Colour options.
RGB notification led.
8GB storage dropped in favor of both 16GB & 32GB, should be cheap enough in 2014.
If all the above was to be the case for the Moto G2 for next year, it probably be even bigger seller than the current Moto G is now.
The 4G will depende con how things go in the world in the next months, A LOT of countries doesnt even have 4G un the works, and some of them are just starting to embrace it
I dont think a X8 CPU its really out of the realm of possibilities, obviously not The same one as the MotoX one, but a low-end one...
Bigger storage should be a thing, 16/32gb.

ok, so you basically want the g2 to be a moto X LOL.. so no, this won't happen.
a 1080p screen IS a 2k screen. the 'k' monika refers to the horizontal not vertical resolution. hence 1080, by 1920 (2k). 720 is about 1.2k.
The truth is, the margin on the Moto G is about 20%, this is so much lower than any other phone manufacturer that any improvements will be added basically at 'cost' therefore, any meaningful spec upgrade leads to a big price price rise (relatively speaking).
I would like the same phone, a year newer CPU and GPU, slightly bigger battery, 4G and improved build quality, 10% price rise. This is at least doable.
Better camera/video
Gyroscope
32 GB version
Same price 180/200/240 (8/16/32)
Sligthly more rubberized shell for better grip
Keep the rest, it's already a great phone.
For me all I'd like to see for a 'G2' is:
4.7" 720p screen
LTE
8MP Camera
1.5 or 2GB RAM
The Moto G2 will be inspired by Motorola's next year flagship, but weaker.
I could see the Moto G2 with a quad core chip, a better gpu, and 1080p screen, LTE, 4.7" screen, 2gb ram, and MAYBE 8MP camera
moto G was created to be a cheap phone with mid-highend specs. You guys want moto x specs on a 200$ phone? Forget about it. Go and buy a moto x

To be fair 5 years ago a low end phone was considered to be 256 MB of ram and a 600 MHz single core processor with a 3 inch screen and would cost the same as the moto g does today. As time goes on technology standards go up.
But I do agree some people in this thread are asking for way too much even for today's standards. If you want modern flagship specs get a modern flagship phone.

I would not be surprised to see next year's Moto G to be pretty close to the current Moto X. Maybe they change a few components to lower the price but in a year's time, the cost of most of those components will probably be down as well.

Why not just buy the moto x when the moto x2 comes out then? I guarantee it will drop in price.

The new LG G Pro 2 sports a 5.9-inch Full HD (1080 x 1920) IPS display, weighs 172 grams, and measures 157.9 × 81.9 × 8.3 mm - and yet the Korean company calls it a smartphone, not a phablet. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat, coming with an “evolved” KnockOn feature called Knock Code. For the moment, the rough automatic translation of the press release announcing the handset doesn’t allow us to fully understand how the new feature works.
The G Pro 2 is LG’s first smartphone to offer a high-power 1W speaker, which should make it a multimedia powerhouse. The handset has a 2.1MP front-facing camera, and a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and OIS plus (an improved version of the Optical Image Stabilization which debuted on the LG G2 last year). The rear camera can record 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) video. Other features: LTE-A connectivity, NFC, quad-core 2.26GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, MicroSD card support, and a 3,200 battery (apparently removable).

How many of you impressed about G pro 2 ???
Back then, when the Optimus G was annouced, I was pretty impressed by the specs. Now though, I realise the lack in many aspects makes it a "second runner" in many point. The lack of update, even for bug correction and the lack of quality in certain apsects, like the camera software or audio rendering make it so that I won't be looking at "specs" only anymore.
Anyway, unless I can sell my OG a decent price to get a N5, I think I'll wait to see what will Lenovo do with Motorola.

This is the phone for me, I got this and never been satisfied, Fine camera shooting, superior smooth transitions and big storage! Thank you
Now that the rumors of Nexus devices have gone completely insane and terribly misleading I have thought about what I would like to see in a Nexus phone. Since Nexus devices are designed to be developer devices we have to keep in mind that hardware is the only thing you can really look at. Absolutely stock Android with no frills is our OS obviously. What kind of hardware should Google be encouraging development for? What manufacturer and what kind of specs would you want.
I'd like to see Motorola get a shot at the Nexus line. My bet is it would be called the Nexus X or the Moto Nexus.
Since its a Nexus device it has to be built completely open source. I'd like to see Moto open the X8 System up to allow developers to utilize the motion core and listening core. Anybody who has used a Moto X will agree that Active Display is probably the best feature ever. Unfortunately, it might fall outside the scope of Nexus to have this chipset in the phone as it is Motorola's silicon. It would likely have to be built on the Qualcomm chipset which tries to implement listening but fails miserably thus far. Basically I would love to see a Nexus device that is contextually aware of its surroundings without draining battery. Contextual awareness is the new wave in tech, allowing Devs to play around with that would be great.
Other Specs:
-5" Screen (at most) - I don't want a huge phone, that's why I have a tablet
-All day battery life - for the power user though because nobody else buys Nexus phones
-Rounded back
-Camera can be average, I don't care too much
This is based on the assumption that Nexus isn't dead so don't bring up Android Silver.
For me, I want a phone, not a flipping TV
- 4.5 Inch max. Now that screen sizes are getting close to tab/phablets, whats going to fill in the 'smaller' phone sizes?
- I know it wont happen but SD Card slot
- Aluminum body, probably the number one reason why HTC made a comeback
- Spec wise, I dont think it matters anymore to have the best CPU, or RAM
For me,I would love a bigger screen to 5",Not 4.9"....
4.5"-5" Screen,Liked nexus 4 on big screen with beautiful UI
SD card slot with App2SD(Why not google?)
3000+maH Battery
Snapdragon 400/S4 Pro(Quad Core)(Please no MTK.)S800 is too powerful.
LTE but...Certificated??
Note function?
Also most important,Cheaper(lol)
Assuming we're talking about the Nexus 6...
Screen no bigger than 5".
OIS 13mp camera or 16mp+ w/o OIS.
Bigass battery.
MicroSD slot, or storage option of 64gb (or even 128gb).
I'm sure the other specs will be up to snuff, so I won't wish and want with those.

N6 5.5 screen with little bezel works for me...
5" 1080p display
Snapdragon 801
3gb ram
3000mah battery (removable)
16mp OIS camera
Micro sd up to 128gb
This would be a perfect nexus phone in my opinion
Ok It should be like the following :-
1- 5" to 5.5" Super AMOLED screen with the ability to turn it to Black & White mode for Ultra power saving.
2- Polycarbonate like the Nokia Lumia's design or any other type of good and high quality plastic.
3- more than 3000 mAh battery, at least 3500 mAh, with removable back cover and battery, I think that also it better and more secure in Airports and in general.
4- High quality camera with the ability of manual controls.
5- Front facing speakers (small one's for more compact size) like in HTC One M8.
6- 64-bit hardware, 4 GB Ram, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 or above, 128 GB internal storage.
I think that phone will be enough for what I'm looking in 2014/2015 smartphone .
5 inch full HD screen
Snapdragon 805
8 MP UltraPixel camera
3 GB of RAM
Android L
Fingeprint scanner
Aluminium built body
3000 MaH battery minimum
IR blaster

Which of the recently released phones or 2015-to-be-released phones do you guys believe is the best and why?
While the Galaxy Note 5 has a solid benchmark performance, further testing shows that it has terrible RAM management and reboots each app that is tabbed out.
I'm looking for a relatively large phone (3 inches wide) with a "fair" price point.
Was thinking about the Galaxy S6, but that's too small for me and not cost-efficient. LG4 -- Not sure how that stacks against the MotoX Pure Edition.
Theres a thread on G4 Vs X Style.
Moto X wins in on many fronts ... mainly the fact its pure Android. The specs are pretty much the same as the G4 but should be smoother as it has no bloat/skin.
Sent from S3 via Tapatalk App.
I previously own SGS6 and RAM management is really terrible. Its a shame where it has 3GB and apps running on the BG are all restarting.
I have the Moto X (2G) now and it handles RAM miles better than the S6 so I believe the Style will be more excellebt in terms of RAM usage and power.
