So Atrix2 has 8gb internal memory and we get 4 GB out of it for apps I presume. I have apps that'd take up 1.5gb or 2 GB max.
Now internal memory seems to be full and I can't even update apps. So where exactly is the rest of 2gb gone?

Reading your post, one thing popped out at me right away. Your first problem is you're supposed to leave system 2 empty.
How big are the partitions you made for your other ROMs? That could be another culprit as your phone can only have a certain amount of storage space. Example, if you have 3 partitions, each with 1000mb data partitions, then that's 3000mb of storage that is being used. If all 3 of those each have a 500mb system partition then that's another 1500mb currently in use. Then if each has a 300mb cache partition that's another 1200 bringing the total up to 5700mb of storage in use. All of that is not even mentioning the amount of storage space that is being used by music, pictures, etc. Basically, you have some cleaning/maintenance to do before flashing anything else.

Ahh, I see. Well then, if you got it from somebody else with a ROM already on it then I'd say flash your FXZ and start over clean. That will clear out any data artifacts left behind from the previous owner that regular ROM flashing won't always remove.

Ok well this is as close to Stock Kingdom as it can be possible.
All Functions are working
I hope all enjoy.
This rom does fit on the system partition.
this still isnt the fastest it can be , I will be working on the memory tweaks & needless to say untill we have source OverClocking is on hold. Once we can overclock this to 1.2 ghz I think this will easily be a daily driver. I am using it as a daily but I can deal with it as I need to be able to see how my tweaks are working as I am doing them.
Also WIPE, WIPE, WIPE!

I like how Patty capitalizes "you" as if you are Jesus or one of the holy trinity. Not that I'm saying you're not, at least within the confines of the xda community I'm not being too blasphemous, I hope. Once again, great work, will be trying this one out and reporting back. I can deal with a little lag so I'll probably keep it on there for a while as long as everything is functional. Remember, my last two phones were the Intercept and the Moment, ugh...
Btw, your GB Sense Leak worked great, I've been using it since you came out with it. Haven't even seen the need to download an alternate launcher for it. If Sense 3.0 is as good as it looks, I think I'll stick with stock. Thanks again for your awesome work, nfx.
Using this rom now and its pretty slow but not horrible, will dl the update and see if that helps.

theres errors on your sdcard... not necessarly the ROMs fault... just pull all the stuff on your sdcard to a folder on your desktop, format the sdcard and then move all the stuff back. THEN do your restore.

If you installed the new boot.img, that may be the issue, though I doubt it. It's possible your sdcard took a crap on you. I've had it happen and it's not rom related at all.
EDIT: One small issue that I noticed: Live wallpapers are not scrollable so they look all smashed together. Not a big thing, and to be honest I don't know if that's actually a limitation of Sense 3.0 itself or this ROM, but thought I would bring it up...Otherwise, no issues so far! Besides the lag which is completely understandable since it's running at 800 mhz and no faster. I'll still be using this awhile.

I just flashed this. ROM looks amazing Diablo. 2 things...
1- I can't seem to get the Mounts2SD to work. I can not get the button to work. It just sits on the first screen and I touch all over and I have tried flashing it 3 times and still can't get the button to work. I have not tried to re-download yet.
2- Is there a way to change the contacts page to a dark mode? It is white background and a light grey letters and is tough to see.
Other than that I am digging it so far.

I wonder why some are getting a good install and some aren't,check the MD5SUM guys and dont download from your phone, sometimes it will give you a bad download. Not saying your not,but make sure to follow the instructs.

I tried downloading 3 times now and flashing each different one. Checked m5sum and it matches. Same problem, it doesn't recognize my root. When I open Terminal it says at the top "void endpwent( ) (3) is not implemented on Android" Next line says "sh-4.1$ export PATH=/data/local/bin:$PATH" Kinda glad to see someone else has the same problem and I'm not going crazy. Love the theme on this one. Let me know if I can give you any more information.
The issue occurs on first boot before I even try to flash mounts2sd. I'm following the instructions word for word. Wiping everything 3x
I have re-flashed everything and tried the mount2sd and still says no root access. I opened up Titanium and it basically says the same thing, but it shows The space used for the system ROM, Internal, SD card and SD card(a2sd). Plus I have a good percentage of the apps I have on my last rom I used in the app drawer.

Ok,ill check this out tonite and see what i can come up with for you guys.
Hello,
I have rooted my one s successfully Ive flashed recovery etc.
but i have installed the magio ROM which i did not like because of the app drawer icon so i changed it (the ROM) to MaximusHD and here the errors start. in the first few days it was OK but i started to notice that the phone kept loosing signal and i had to reboot the device to have signal again.
Now i wanted to install my favorite game "real racing 3" and when it cane to downloading the game said that there is no space on phone.
so i checked it in settings and the phone said that there is 16GB free!?!?!?
well i did know that is not true so i double checked with X-plore and the program said i HAVE ONLY 2.2GB FREE!?!?!
and when i wanted to copy a different ROM to my htc it would not let me i would take ages to be finished and the progress bar does not move
so i decided to download the rom via mobile and it worked and than i booted into TWRP and factory reseted the phone and tryed to install the rom but each time i tryed to do that i "FAILED" and when i wanted to reboot my device it said "NO SYSTEM INSTALLED DO YOU WANT TO CONTINUE?"
Also when i want to connect usb storage i get the "E: Unable to open ums lunfile (No such file or Directory ) No Files Found."message
So im begging for help And i really badly need my phone

ok, a couple weeks before i asked similar help, so now its my turn to help somebody out.
i am not a developer but i will try to assist u of what i know.
First of all, could u boot in to hboot and tell me if your device is unlocked, s-off and does it have supercid?
all i can think of, is to try to guide you trough completely format, reflash firmware, kernel, and reinstall maximus cleanly.
well that is a helpful post as i installed stock recovery that fully formated the device next i flashed twrp again and mounted usb storage and as soon as possible i flashed magiorom and i discovered that only have 2GB of memory(again )
now my phone is fully functional but the memory i only 2GB and those anyone here know if i
S-OFF,
SuperCID
and install the ROM again will that work and i will have my 10GB of internal storage back?

Anyone?????
Possible solution
Are you currently on MaximusHD? If so then make sure you are using TWRP 2.3.3.0, Maximus uses that recovery in particular and will not work with any other recovery.
As for the problem you are experiencing, it sounds like mismatched data directories. Have you noticed anything out of normal in your directories? For instance, /sdcard having multiple directories/partitions? Have you tried "fix permissions" in recovery?
Additionally, how much memory does your recovery say you have free on your SD?

You're on 2.16 bootloader which changes partition layout to what you see.
Also you might not understand it, you should follow these instructions.
Also all steps are important the most important ones start from step 3 as they revert what you did with flashing 2.16.
And before starting just read a bunch of the following posts in that thread...
i solve my problem
follow the step to install maximusHD 10.0.0 step for step

Download this program to your computer, compatible with Windows. Virus free link.
finish install process and plug your phone in to your computer, refresh your drives so your phone shows up in the partition manager downloaded above. Let me know if there are more than one partition showing in the program.
For our HTC One S there should be one partition of 16GB

Hello,
I have rooted my one s successfully Ive flashed recovery etc.
but i have installed the magio ROM which i did not like because of the app drawer icon so i changed it (the ROM) to MaximusHD and here the errors start. in the first few days it was OK but i started to notice that the phone kept loosing signal and i had to reboot the device to have signal again.

TWRP has a feature called ADB Sideload located under the advanced tab. Click to start ADB sideload, and then start ADB on your computer and type this command:
adb sideload flash <name of zip archive>
If your cant access ums lunfile, After flashing a sideload file. if it still says 'Unable to open ums lunfile' you may have an error with your recovery. Did you format any directories? If so, which directories did you format?
Dude for Maximus HD YOU MUST HAVE hboot 2.16!
I got the verizon S3 almost 2 years ago and I rooted it back then. The version that I have now is 4.1.1, but the phone is acting up with constant shut down. I have read that it may be the power button, but it does it only when I am outside or driving, the phone does not reboot when at work or home.
Anyway, I decided to update the android to the official verizon latest version, but I am not sure what to do. There are so many links and different options that I am afraid I will brick the phone and then have a very expensive paper weight.
Will it be possible to update to the latest and still keep the apps?
Any help please?
thank you in advance
What links and options are you afraid will brick the phone?

I am just not sure how to proceed, can i just download the latest official verizon update from xda (i think it is the 4.4.4) and install it?
thanks
Generally, you have to run the verizon OTA upgrades in order. This means you need to run 4.1.2, then the others before you can get to 4.4. Running the OTA upgrade should preserve your apps along the way. However, note that anything after 4.1.2 (aka MF1) will lock the bootloader, which will prevent you from running any custom ROMs and kernels in the future. Also note that there have been reports of battery life issues with the Verizon version of KitKat... take that with a grain of salt, but be aware of it.
For what it's worth, I'm still running 4.1.2 unlocked and rooted... there are no TW KK ROMs available yet for this phone, but you can run AOSP or other KK versions.

what is TW stand for? sorry for the ignorance.
Do you recommend a good kit kat rom for this phone? I am correct to assume that installing a new rom will require to re-install all the apps? maybe there is an easier way to do this.
thanks
TW = touch wiz, KK = kit kat (just in case you didn't know) ?

enoxos: Given your question about TW (and other questions) I suggest you do a lot more reading on XDA before jumping into any upgrades. It's not always easy to "jump in" and just apply updates or ROMs. That's not to say it's hard, but I find it's better to read a LOT and know all the pitfalls before performing any update. Granted, I may take it to another extreme, but it's better to know what you're getting into rather than asking for "emergency help" after the fact. It also allows you to be prepared for anything that happens with the necessary downloads and such... that way you don't have to go hunting around for them later.
Regarding the question about which KK ROM to use, unfortunately there is no easy answer there. While I think it's a legitimate question, XDA frowns upon it and tells you to just "try it out" on your own. I feel there should be some way to determine what most people are using, or ask accordingly... but people still complain at the question... I wish there were a better way to get this answered!
thanks guys,I have alerady tried 2 kik kat ROMs and I am trying another one as we speak until I find what I want. Of-course these are not official Verizon ones, which I guess I am fine with now.
I am also going to use Titanium backup to restore all my apps in the new ROM. Is this something that is recommended?

Noooo. It's ok to restore apk files but it's never recommended to restore the data from the apps. I'd suggest keeping your unlocked bootloader and not bothering to take the OTAs or anyone for that matter. I've seen the newest ota to kk, 4.4.2 and honestly unrooted it doesn't look all that much different.
My gf also has an S3, mine is unlocked where as she never rooted hers so it's stuck forever on a locked bootloader running kk. It's truly your own decision on which rom to run, compare what features they have and go from there.

I have already installed the slim kat 4.4.4 ROM. So I am playing around with the apps now, will see if Titanium works or not lol
On another note, when I installed the slim kat ROM (or 2 other previous ones-trying to figure out which one is for me), the free internal memory on the phone was only 5 gB while I have the 32 gB S3. Any advise as to why so little internal storage left?
thanks

Unsure without seeing it. Try using a free app on the play store, there are two I recommend. Either SD maid or Cachecleaner NG, either should free up junk you have. Also do you have any backups on Internal? After the rom essentials it should be down to about 28gb or so

i am installing one of the two apps as you said, but when the new ROM is getting installed, it should delete everything from the internal memory, no?
on the last ROM, i did factory reset, wiped cache, and did a system format in storage section, but still there are crap in there left. The ROM seems to work just fine.

It typically does yes, but it doesn't for some reason delete anything from the data/media folder I've noticed. I use twrp so I've noticed it there
Edit: I've also found after some basic looking around that some people, not necessarily the S3 are having similar issues with log files building up to well over 1gb and up. I looked in the folder where it suggested and I didn't see anything at all.

I used the recovery and I just found about 20 directories from the old ROM that I had. Can I just simply delete these or should I do a fresh installation with different options during install?

You can attempt to do that yes. What did you find in the directories? If you have the rom already installed use a root browser and attempt to delete them depending of course on what files there are. There shouldn't be a good reason why it takes up nearly 18gb+ though

I started up the phone again and used the folder browser that it came with the ROM. Here is what the Slim Kat ROM did: it split up the internal storage into two folders: emulated and sdcard0.
In the emulated filder, I have all the new ROM items (SlimKat items). I have access to these folderes.
In the sdcard0 folder, all the old stuff from the previous ROM (stock verizon 4.1.1. ROM, rooted) are there. I have no access to these due to permissions.
What the hell...

That's normal for kk to partition the SD card. That's odd about the phone not letting you access the folders because of permissions

yes, it looks exactly like the picture you posted. I can access the sdcard0 (which has the 18 gb of old stuff in there) from the recovery when i point to where the zip is for installation of the new ROM. Should I just delete them from there, if I can?

I went to the recovery and formatted the data partition, this gave me pretty much everything back. I know have the whole sdcard partition back (25.2 gB out of 26 gB, I am guessing the other 6 gB go to the system), but still can not access it from the phone, only from the recovery panel.
Hi,
I have a strange issue with my 16GB GEM-703L Stock B212 unrooted device where I am always running out of internal disk space no matter how much I move over to my 32GB storage card.
My Internal Storage shows as 10.37GB with 552MB free, and my "Default location" for storage is Internal but I have moved numerous apps data from Internal to my External memory card. Still, I am always running out of disk space to the point where the OS notifies me constantly. I even scheduled my Whatsapp photos and videos to be periodically moved over to my external memory card.
My Internal Storage partition shows as only 1.05GB capacity and that seems a bit low to me but wasn't sure so I thought I would post about it here.
Admittingly, since my "Default location" is set to Internal, all APKs are stored on my internal storage and I have a total of 2.95GB of APKs for all my apps.
Since I am not rooted (this is the first device in my life I have not rooted since it's battery life is amazing), I cannot see the full details of all my partitions but feel there might be something wierd happening here.
Is this normal? Or is there simply not much space left for me to use with everything being taken up including the OS system partition, APKs in the data partition, etc?
Thanks.

It almost sounds like the device was rooted at one point but after flashing a stock rom the internel storage was never wiped in TWRP thus it only shows as 1.05gb.

Hi AJ, thanks for replying. When I first received this device a few years ago, it was on Stock B112 (also unrooted), and I used the recovery to wipe data and factory reset FULL including media contents. Since then however I have upgraded from B112 to B211 to B212. I don't know if somehow somewhere along the way one of the upgrades didn't clean up after itself or something but I do wipe cache/dalvik cache once in a while.
Not sure what else I can do while being unrooted besides doing a full backup and then a full restore of that same backup, but I am looking to find a less time consuming process because there are many customized settings I hav in terms of permissions and disabling of stupid Huawei apps, etc.
Do you have any suggestions by any chance?

I would unlock the bootloader and root, then install TWRP then do a backup of your current setup then do a wipe then restore your backup.
Well, now that I am rooted, I am able to provide some further info about my data partition in the screenshot below.
My Internal Storage shows only 1.28GB total and this seems to be a result of apps storing their APKs on the Internal Storage even though the Storage Location for many of these apps are set to External Storage.
Looks like the only solution to having many apps with this 16GB device is to change the Storage "Default Location" to External in the settings as opposed to Internal and this *should* (?) change the location of the APKs. Correct?
Even if so I'm worried about the performance of the device if I do that.
Thoughts?

I see. Having the 16GB model stinks for the limited storage space. I'm jealous of you getting 4G on the X2. Here the best I get is 2G which makes it pretty much useless.
i have same problem 32gb version.. device roted + twrp + kangv3
i just dont get it : i checked with some app all partitions and all does have some free space like 40% or more, main internal storage is 12gb free out of 24available, i had 95%full external 32gb card but now changed to empty 64gb ndidnt helped
device was vorking fine about half year after i got it and instaled kangvip, now i cant do anything, most apps just crashes right away, or all aps just dont save setings, files, system keeps defaulting and forgeting its setings
what things i need to check or do before upgrading to kandg4
and how to upgrade without loosing my aplications setups and system setups ?
i realy need advise, cuz even uninstaling apps arent helping - no space eror
if its internal storage fault - how to check it ?
if its failing, how can i resurect this device internal storage (geting new one to rebuild at quality technician) is it even posible ?
if thats not posible, what kind of posibility is to transferr whole system to fastest suported external storage ?
wthell is this problem ? buged logs, lost folder ? thumbnails ? why these space eaters doesnt apear while checking partitions sizes ?
[update]
https://www.asus.com/zentalk/thread-67589-9-1.html asus solved this ?
one more Q is it possible to enlarge every every systems partitions by repartitioning like on linux by moving resizing partitions ?
[update]
i was trying to make backup of whole system with twrp:
last line was backing up data and:
4644mb of 5930 it freezes under 78% aited 10mins or more no go,
using DiskUsage app (x2 is rooted)
i found wery interesting direcyory that is actualy invisible to other space calculators,
and does have more then 6gb - ~1.6 milion files a (wtf)
/data/adb/hdb201********************* some files
i canot enter directory, should i try comand line to erase its contents ?
just what a hell is happening ? i see files does have a date im guesing some log files or something.. but why the hell they are created th3re and are still growing every hour ?

Hi did you ever progress on this issue? I have been recently deleting many apps and combing through my /data partition deleting unnecessary folders, but even after all of that my phone now shows full once again.
I am thinking it is due to a corrupt file system. Oddly, just yesterday folders inside my /storage/emulated/0/media/audio are getting deleted randomly and when I copy my ringtones back it does it again. This tells me that maybe the files are not actually being deleted but rather UN-REFERENCED by the pointers, and would also explain why the device thinks it's full.
Any advice?

Is that on my flashable stock rom or just plain stock that you rooted?

Plain stock that came with the device. Rooted with TWRP I made myself from a P8 if you remember our PM's.
Update: I just found out my phone got full again because of running "Disk Digger" without disabling SuperSU logging. It was only 1.5GB but enough to cause my device to once again fill up.
Update 2: Still don't know how folders are being deleted. @ajsmsg78

Hi,
i was reading some posts about linux ability to delete/read milion files in one directory, it seems thats why most aps canot see or just simply delete them by default because of some limitations. And for maanging such a huge number u must be specialy prepared for that. There are more then one posibility to delete files besides rm command.
I just delete all of contents by smaller portions. And as some guy on xda suggested nice app MacroDroid for some sceduled maintenance on system, i created task for deleting files every 48hrs on adb directory.
I think theres a bug on adb bridge or maybe it is possible somehow to turn of logging for that particular app.
Problem was clear files had no extention so cleaners wont count those files as log trash. One day (maybe) il find how to limit adb logings..
Overall i had same problem in past on my old pc with limit3d disk space and linux system, hoging up space with same silly problem like just endles loging and no automated self cleanups (casual user is totaly unaware about this)..
About music problem.. i dont know. But im geting feeling about two posiibilities, simply buggy program (wiping it, reformating reinstaling system) or if thats no go internal sstorage fault (as my old samsung galaxy tab had storage failure, started to awfuly lag from time to time and more and more, constantly runing out space, and after one reboot it couldnt boot in anymore, neather restor or instal system, twrp was stalling on half way)...
