OK.. Well first i have successfully downgraded my mytouch4g to 2.2.1 Froyo.
I know the next step would be install VISIONary and temp root.. but here is where i have a problem.
Every time i hit the temp root now button. it goes to a screen which says rooting device please wait.
And this is where it gets stuck. I could literally leave it here for hours and nothing would happen.
I followed everything to the T from the tutorial or guide on the unlockr and xda
But i can get VISIONary to let me move further.
Help would be very appreciated comrades

Hi. A few months ago I rooted my htc EVO using the unrevoked method because I wanted to flash a better rom but, I didn't because I didn't know what kind of rom to flash. After a lot of research I got my eye on myn warn twopointwo, after reading the instructions of how to flash it and watching a video of the rom's installation the guy on the video said that is not recomended to flash a rom if we have rooted our phones with the unrevoked method because there's people complainig having problems with this root method. that's not the only video saying the same about unrevoked, and I've been reading on some other websites about the same thing with unrevoked and that's not a real root. well to tell you the truth the problems that I've been having after rooting my evo with unrevoked are the web browser connection, sometimes takes like 20 seconds to connect and before used to do it almost instantly and the second thing it's battery life before rooting it used to last a bit longer but, I don't know if that have something to do with it but, that's what is happening so I decided to unroot my phone and root it again with a diferent method so I was wondering if someone can help me with this, What kind of RUU shall I donwload and where to donwload it and what kind of root method shall I use on my htc evo and where to look for it. I have all my apps and data backed up already. Can someone please help me with this, I'll appreciate your help, thanks and take care everyone. R34Mspec
Hello all! I think the title of this is self explanatory: Permroot is not working! LOL. Anyway, I am using the bnice method to root an evo shift. I get to the end, all the numbers match up, bootloader shows s0ff, reboot, airplane mode, visionary temp root, then attempt to root, phone reboots, then i delete visionary and superuser, then reboot again and there is no root. What am i doing wrong? any ideas?
Thank you for any help I can get!
finally!!!
Ladies and Gentlemen, we have liftoff. LOL. Thanks for all your help on this.
I finally broke down and used z4 instead. Same process, but you must remmber to add the word "busybox" (all one word) before each command (only when temp rooted with z4). then, at the end, once bootloader says s 0ff, rebooted, and temp rooted with z4. it hung on "rebooting" and i finally shut it off. then i turned it back on and I was rooted. I don't know how or why, but when I uninstalled z4 etc and did a factory reset I stayed rooted. I hope all of my shinnannigans helps the next person with the same problem. or maybe my brain is the problem IDK> LOL anyway, thanks again for all your help

Go into the HTC Glacier (MT4G) forum then into the android development section. The very first post at the top is a guide to rooting using the gfree method. I have rooted 4 MT4G's with this thread, including one about 12 hours ago. At the end of the thread, it gives you instructions on how to flash the engineering bootloader. This is HIGHLY recommended as it makes it easier to recover from a soft brick. To flash using this method you need to use adb. There is a 5 minute video (link is in the thread) that will give you enough knowledge to be able to do this. The first time I ever rooted a phone or used adb was with this phone using this thread, and I was fine.

There ya go..made it even easier.
so i've read so many forums, done everything i can, every method, but to no avail; im still not able to root my htc raider. the most recent forum i came across, which supposedly the simplest and easiest method to root my phone, is this " http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498003 " i thought the video was supposedly a step by step tutorial, but not as much as i expected it to be. because of my previous attempt before using this toolkit, i was only able to unlock the bootloader, so i skiped the part were u have to do it. i went straight to flashing the cwm and was successful. with that, i was able to use backup/restore. then i went to permroot and all i got from the command promt was adb stuff out of date. i thought maybe i have to flash my kernel so i did. but then i got stock on the htc logo. can anyone plz help me

Hi!
I'm a total noob and I was wondering if I could get some assistance. I'm trying to root my old MyTouch 4G/HTC Glacier, just so I can play around with it and learn a few things. I'm using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858996 and I did not get very far, I'm stuck on step 7. when I execute 'su' the terminal tells me 'su: not found'
I have managed a temp root through this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912 and downgraded back to 2.2, but could never gain root access on my device's terminal, only through my PC. I aslo could not backup using Titanium Backup. Every other attempt/method has failed. My goal is a perma root and I've been at it for days, and am growing very impatient. Pretty close to throwing all computers out the window. This is not something I want to give up on, PLEASE ASSIST!!! :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:
Let me know if more info is needed before this can be helped.
Thank you,
Anthony
