Hello all! I think the title of this is self explanatory: Permroot is not working! LOL. Anyway, I am using the bnice method to root an evo shift. I get to the end, all the numbers match up, bootloader shows s0ff, reboot, airplane mode, visionary temp root, then attempt to root, phone reboots, then i delete visionary and superuser, then reboot again and there is no root. What am i doing wrong? any ideas?
Thank you for any help I can get!
finally!!!
Ladies and Gentlemen, we have liftoff. LOL. Thanks for all your help on this.
I finally broke down and used z4 instead. Same process, but you must remmber to add the word "busybox" (all one word) before each command (only when temp rooted with z4). then, at the end, once bootloader says s 0ff, rebooted, and temp rooted with z4. it hung on "rebooting" and i finally shut it off. then i turned it back on and I was rooted. I don't know how or why, but when I uninstalled z4 etc and did a factory reset I stayed rooted. I hope all of my shinnannigans helps the next person with the same problem. or maybe my brain is the problem IDK> LOL anyway, thanks again for all your help

Alright so I'm messing around with my roommates Backflip trying to get the root to work. I used the method over on Unlockr and the procedure seemed to work fine. Everything that i did matched up with the instructions. Now after a reboot Superuser is all messed up. I installed Root Explorer and Superuser wont let me open it. I don't even get the option to allow or deny. What gives?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and it's runnin 2.1.
thanks for your help guys, but I figured it out...Z4Root fixed the issue.
I have a friends MT4G here and something went wrong when trying to get it permarooted, I'm not sure what happened before it got to me but I tried to start from scratch and restored the phone back to factory settings, I tried to use Visionary to gain temp root and then went to try permaroot and visionary kept coming back.
I then installed terminal emu. and tried to root and got as far as rebooting to check S-off and the phone keeps crashing, ( reboots then visionary pops up and shuts down, starts again and weather tries to refresh and crashes.) I'm looking for a way to get this phone back to the day it was bought so I can do this for him the right way. I need to know if A. it's even possible, B. what do I need if so, C. other options.
Hboot is there but tries to update and says update failed, Need a hand on this one.
Thanks in advance....
Edit / Update: OK I was told to try something else but now I have the phone working but no chance to get S-off yet, I did a Factory reset and formatted the SD card and poof I was back up and running, I tried to gain temp root then Perma root but it always goes back to S-On no matter what I try. I still have Hboot Recovery here but I'm having a problem getting any further so I'm hoping some one will have a suggestion or even a glimmer of hope they wanna throw my way, the phone owner is a good kid and helps out alot with my son and I really wanna get him back in action here.
Ok, so it sounds like your issue is a bad eMMC chip. This bad chip does not allow root to stick when using the visionary method. The only way to root is using the g-free method. But, when you have a bad eMMC and use the gfree method, you get corrupted partitions and after a while you get a bunch of errors in clockwork mod and end up with a bricked phone...kind of a lose lose situation.

I found a way around the problem and got him back up and running but thanks for the heads up on the gfree, I did find the post on it.
I rooted my inspire the day I got it, but when my screen cracked a couple weeks ago, I flashed the stock unrooted rom so I could go attempt to get my phone/screen replaced. I ended up not getting it replaced ($130 my ass, and it doesnt bother me that much) and just forgot to flash a rom and stuff. I went to do that today and when I go into recovery it gives me the symbol that has the phone and the red triangle with ! inside of it. I then remembered I wasn't rooted, so I used the ace hack kit, like last time, to re root it. the Reverse CID worked but every time I try to downgrade I hit enter then nothing happens, I noticed really fast in the command prompt it flashes that its not known as an internal/external command. Does anybody know a way to get it fixed?
I do not have HTC Sync installed, but I do have its drivers installed. I am running XP
Any and all help is appreciated.

It sounds to me like you forgot to download the updated script and replace the one in the hack kit with it.
Well guys, I seem to have really done it this time. I was on 4.1.2 (9.16.6) on my HDMaxx and I was having problems gaining my root access. I used Voodoo to keep root and downgraded (while I was still on 4.1.1) back to 4.0.4 and gained root, then updated all the way back up. When I did the update to 4.1.2, I seemed to have some issues with root again. RootChecker said I have root, but all my root apps said otherwise, and I was unable to update SuperUser due to the fact that it was unable to get root access. I went through the post by Dan Rosenberg (http://www.droid-life.com/2013/04/09...r-devices-too/) and it reported nothing but good news. Here's where the stupidity comes in: I didn't boot back up and test to see if the root was working. I was too excited by seeing that I could (finally) unlock my bootloader. I used the motopocalypse tool, and BAM! No recovery, no rom, no nothing. All I have is a screen that says "WARNING BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED" and if I want, I could get into AP Fastboot mode. All other options (recovery, wipe, etc.) just bring me back to the indefinite screen of the unlocked bootloader. Anyone by any chance know what I could have possibly done? Thank you in advance.

What os are you on on your computer have your drivers been updated etc
As stated in the other thread toy should be able to manually push a custom recovery via adb. Check the other thread for a link.

Tried RSDlite to stock?... since fastboot seems to be the only thing working it may be the easiest route to have a working phone quickly.
Not sure if the Maxx is the same firmware as the XT926's but here's the verizon ones http://sbf.droid-developers.org/vanquish/list.php
and instructions for the HD http://www.andromods.com/tips-trick...-unroot-unbrick-droid-razr-maxx-hd-xt926.html
I don't know if that applies to your phone or situation.
OK.. Well first i have successfully downgraded my mytouch4g to 2.2.1 Froyo.
I know the next step would be install VISIONary and temp root.. but here is where i have a problem.
Every time i hit the temp root now button. it goes to a screen which says rooting device please wait.
And this is where it gets stuck. I could literally leave it here for hours and nothing would happen.
I followed everything to the T from the tutorial or guide on the unlockr and xda
But i can get VISIONary to let me move further.
Help would be very appreciated comrades
