Hello. I have zero experience in android, but have managed to install stock 4.2.2, root it and install CWM. Now i am asking, what would be the best kernel, wich support overclocking, and possibly undervolting. It should be stable(No random freezes, as i rely on waking up in the morning by my phone, and if it has frozen, nothing good will happen ) Also, would 1.3Ghz be safe amount to oc to in normal usage?
Try kernel from CoolDevelopment it's stable and allows to overclock i'm using it daily and problems so far. I'm not on stock but othrrs have reported kernel is working fine with stock rom.

Hello,
I've recently bought Xperia Tipo and while reading the threads I came to know that its processor is underclocked...Have any of you guys got a success in overclocking the phone...?
Since I don't have much knowledge in this,so I want to ask, what overclocking benefits us?Will it make phone run faster, gaming without much lags and compatible for more games? Also, will this help in receiving Android JB on this phone?
Cheers,
Centurian
You are right the phone is underclocked and we will be able to overclock it someday, but we need to change the kernel for that I think
At this current point in time I know we can unlock the downloader and root it (android jb) maybe more
Now this has been achieved we will need a dev to find a way to overclock it since the CPU apps in the market only allow us to run the CPU at 800mhz max.
I will update when I know more, please say if you find out before I do though
sent from my baby xperia tipo via the xda android app
Have you or anyone else tried rooting the JB onto this?
Also,is the app like SetCPU good to overclock or will it even work on tipo?
We can't overclock the CPU using any apps until the kernel is modified, this is because the kernel is told we have an 800MHz processor so wen we try to use setCPU it won't go any higher

we could overclock the phone by loading a kernel overclock module
but i have no idea how to build yet im still setting up my computer after moving house so i wont be able to do any real work for a couple of weeks but i will see if there are any prebuilt modules that will work
then i am gonna learn how to build and start playing
but we need cwm just in case it all goes wrong
please correct me if I'm wrong. as far as I know overclock only possible with custom kernel. no module can do it. however, we still can add several stuff via modules like new govs and iosched. I've downloaded the kernel source and build several iosched modules. unfortunately, the modules cannot loaded into the system due to unknown reason. the kernel source also a lil bit messed up. I never could build a complete kernel due to error message.
I used droid overclock on my droid and it overlocked by loading a kernel module or is different in ics

No that's right.. most moto phones are over clocked through modules.. we have locked boot loaders.. so no custom kernels.. the modules are loaded on bootup... which processor does tipo have?

Qualcomm snapdragon s1

I remembered that Xperia X8 had a module to enable overclock, how about Tipo?
tipo have no module to overclock
Someone would nee to build one

Now they released unlocked bootloader shall we be able to overclock our tipo?

Are there anyone, going to spend time to mod this phone, it is a lower price range phone.
Most people will probably spend the time on a higher spec phone. I am interested in this phone, it's a shame that sony phone contains alot of pixels problem.
it is possible to overclock with a custom kernel, and BTW Tipo / Miro are not underclocked, the chipset is just slightly slower than MSM7227A (1Ghz).
R
Edit: i was wrong. Its underclocked.
Wait for a custom kernel to overclock the CPU.
Anyone tried overclocking on the FXP CM10? It should have an overclockable kernel.
Is it true that tipo could be overclocked??
Because months ago I thought that tipo has Qualcomm MSM7227A processor (which can run up to 1GHz), but today I looked for in many web pages, and all of them say that in fact the processor is the MSM7225A, which can only run up to 800MHz..
EDIT:
It seems that tipo has Qualcomm MSM7225A processor, so I imagine that we can´t overclock it, right??
http://developer.sonymobile.com/2012/06/13/xperia-tipo-and-xperia-miro-two-new-fun-and-stylish-additions-to-the-xperia-portfolio/
It's the same cpu as the L3, so it can be overclocked up to 1ghz.
The Tipo/Miro (it's basicaly the same phone) hasn't got that much devs now. We just need a rebuilt kernel.

No it is MSM7227A i have checked that with antutu benchmark and many other apps
Is it possible to overclock the GPU on 4.2?
I am running the blackbean BAKED rom, I read it was possible but only with the old tiamat kernel which is not compatible with ICS/JB
Thanks.
Same question for cm10.1 4.2.2
I've used setcpu to oc my android 422 rom
Hope that helps

The kernel from the EOS ROMs has GPU OC. So one suggestion to get the kernel on any other ROM...
1. NANDROID current ROM
2. Wipe everything and install the EOS ROM.
3. NANDROID only the "boot" partition.
4. Restore your original ROM.
5. Restore only the Boot partition.
After this you should have the Tiamat kernel installed. Honestly that's the easiest way.
*edit*
Actually I just saw this kernel in the development section you could try.

Hi!
I'm not new user of TF300T, but I have 1 very strange problem... So, after install any kernel, I have patterned bootscreen (my pictrues are in attachment). First time when I had this, was after install Clemsync's kernel 1,7 GHz, over CleanROM Inheritance (bootloader 10.4). I fast restored stock kernel. Next week I'd installed Utner's kernel. It was perfect! 1,6GHz, fast, without problems! I used Unter while I was on JB 4.1 bootloader. Half year ago I updated bootloader to 10.6 (JB 4.2). Now I have this problem on every modified kernels (Hunds, _that etc.).
Currently I use Cyanogenmod, because there are no problems. I don't know is this problem with OC, maybe voltage. I have this problem only on bootscreen.
Please, help
I'm not able to solve it by myself .
Thanks
I don't think this screen is shown by the kernel, but by the bootloader.
If it is not caused by a hardware defect, you might be able to fix it by reflashing the stock ROM.

Yes, but on Cyanogenmod I don't have any problem... :/

It's caused by clemsyn overckocking the GPU in the kernel. I don't think it causes a problem. That kernel and ROM are really old and were not designed for the bootllader you have. You should update to the latest version of CROMi-X if you want to run cleanrom.
@sbdags
I really love your CleanROM Xenogenesis, and I use it . My english is bad, but I tried to say, that I updated bootloader half year ago. I first time I had this problem on Clemsync. I have the same problem on Xenogenesis with _that OC and Hunds. I don't have any problem on when kernel isn't OC. I use CM, because I want to eat KitKat per few days , for daily and performance and daily using, CROMX is the best for me .
Thanks for help, and work sbdags .

Dear XDA members,
A while ago I updated my N8010 from stock JB 4.1.2 to stock KK 4.4.2 (LUX, NG1). Running on stock JB v4.1.2. I used Tegrak Overclock v1.9.12 to overclock my N8010 to 1.6GHz. Unfortunately, Tegrak does not support stock KitKat (so far). Does anyone know it there's an alternative to overclock the N8010 running on stock KitKat, ecept from running a custom ROM? If so, please let me know. Thanks.

Stock Kernel doss not support overclocking. You will have to wait for Boeffla Kernel. Alpha-Version is running excellent at my tablet, gaining 21230 at Antutu with conservative overclocking!
Markus.
Antutu? What's it? Ok. You are right. Boeffla works like the hell on KK.
Wait a few days and you can come to the hell

Hi guys,
I have just sold my LG G4, because I was tired of the lg ui, so I took back my old (but gold) Nexus 5. Now I'm running last stock, but I would like to improve battery life. I used cataclysm rom, but after the developer's decision, I bought g4. Now I need a new rom and even a kernel to maximise battery life. I found out the xtrasmooth rom, it seems pretty good. Do you suggest it? Which kernel?
Thank you for the help

I would recommend you installing some light AOSP ROM like Pure Nexus or Krexus and blu_spark or ElementalX kernel.

Pure Nexus Nougat won't be officially built for Nexus 5 but Marshmallow version is fully stable. If you want to use Marshmallow, Pure Nexus is one of the best ROMs.
Every kernel is good - bluspark, elementalx or franco. Personally I use blu_spark.

So I'll try Pure Nexus with blu_spark... Settings for the kernel? I used to undervolt -50mv, disable touch boost and set 1958MHz for the cpu and 320MHz for the gpu, something else?

At first, I would only set 1958mhz CPU and 320 GPU. It should be enough to get good battery life.
