Does anybody else have any information on the Visa PayWave application for Android? Saw the advert for the application in June/July, said it would be "released by December 2013". It's now late January 2014 and the application is still nowhere to be seen. Especially disappointing considering one of the main features of the Galaxy S4 ON RELEASE (almost a year ago) was that Visa PayWave was pre-installed, and that never happened. Visa also had a webpage advertising the application and has since taken it down, as if they're trying to remove all evidence of them ever having the idea of a contactless payments application.
And I can't use Google Wallet because UK. Google have decided that this country doesn't deserve mobile contactless either. *sigh*

I have recently got the HTC One X which has NFC, I was refusing to get a phone without NFC but I have worked out in the UK it is useless. There are many NFC enabled payment terminals all over the country, every Gregs has one also Mcdonalds and many other shops, however there are no apps to utilise this technology. In the US they have Google Wallet, in sweeden (I think) they have pay-pal but we have nothing in the UK.
Does anyone know of any NFC enabled payment apps that will work on the three network in the UK on an unrooted phone?
I am getting really annoyed with the slowness of technology in the UK, there is no 4G, the underground has not made an NFC oyster card app and banks are not incorporating NFC into their apps either unlike a lot of others around the world.
What are you thoughts on this lack of technology available to us compared to other countries?

It's incredibly annoying. But I've been using Google Wallet for the past few months at McDonalds and Greggs. I used the initial $10 and then got my friend to purchase a $100 prepaid mastercard fro me in the US.
Orange say they'll be releasing their Quick Tap application to Android users with NFC phones some time soon, but I'm not sure about exactly how it will work. If it's going to use the built-in Secure Element, they'll have to get permission and secret codes from Google/HTC first. If it's going to use the SIM card as the secure element, then it will probably only work with Orange SIMs, which sucks.
Furthermore, I'm not even sure if they'll support the One X - it isn't supported with Google Wallet afterall.
I use a Galaxy Nexus and I worry that Quick Tap won't be supported, as I'm pretty sure they'll be using the SIM as the secure element, but I'm not sure if the Nexus actually has that functionality. We should know within about a month.

I think google have been very slack with their wallet app and will not reach the desired market by keeping it to one or two phones. There are loads of NFC enabled phones out there running on android and they need to sort them selves out.
I think the ONE X will be capable of running the google wallet if I could get it in this country without rooting.
I am hoping HTC will be able to see a market for this and create an app in the HTC hub, or it would be handy if mastercard or visa would make an app for everyone to use. I saw a visa advert the other day that was suggesting it could be used on samsung phones but I have seen no further explanations.

Don't get me started....
I'm hopeful that with the Olympics this year we will see a proper push for NFC payment to become widely available; there's the beginning of an infrastructure in place and numerous trials are underway or completing (O2, Barclaycard & Orange, etc).
Personally I'm hoping that Barclays move their Pingit app towards an NFC facility.
As far as what's available today in the UK, only the mini 'stick on' NFC credit card from Barclaycard - sucks really.
Yeah I would happily move banks to Barclays if I could use the ping it app with NFC, there was loads of articles around Christmas time saying google wallet was coming to the UK for the Olympics but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Annoying no! This country really annoys me when it comes to the uptake of technology, it is nearly a year since Visa did the samsung s3 trail with the PayWave app at the Olympics and still nothing from them.

Only Orange's Quick Tap which is very limited availability. I seem to see NFC capable terminals everywhere nowadays too.
Recently some news about ISIS (ISIS official website) has come to light and with that, I’m sure we will be getting a lot more news about it. I decided to make this thread for all of those who want to know more about the current state of the ISIS payment system and to keep up with news.
The ISIS (mobile payment system) a joint venture between AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless to bring NFC payments to the masses. It seems to be their response to Google Wallet, a service only officially supported by SPRINT (and some Virgin Mobile phones) at this time (though unofficially, you can still hack it to work with other carriers on the Galaxy S3 ).
All three carriers announced plans to invest more than $100 million in the project.
Earlier this year, back in April, it was announced that ISIS would start a beta/pilot program in Salt Lake City and other areas just to later be delayed with no conclusive response as to why.
Earlier this week some news is starting to trickle out about ISIS - this post will be updated as news is released.
ISIS NEWS
By March 31st, 2013, ISIS will pay USA Technologies for every ePort-equipped vending machine that is able to accept Isis Mobile Wallet. This agreement is for some 7,500 vending machines.
Micros, a point-of-sale vendor having an estimated 35% (as of 2003) of the restaurant market has announced the integration of its Simphony point of service to support Isis's SmartTap mobile commerce application allowing consumers to make purchases, redeem offers and present loyalty cards through smartphone.

The Isis Mobile Wallet was announced yesterday in limited rollout to Austin and Salt Lake City for now. http://news.paywithisis.com/
What struck me as interesting is the reference to needing to got to an AT&T store and pick up a new "secure element SIM". Since I don't live in one of those cities, I'm wondering where I can find more details about this SIM and if it's something that can be used to finally bring Google Wallet support to our phones.

Unfortunately it will not. The Google Wallet only works on embedded secure elements that are contained in the certain phones like the SGS3 and Galaxy Nexus. The new AT&T/Isis SIM can be used with Isis Mobile Wallet only (unless both of these conditions happen: 1) AT&T decides to let the Google Wallet into their secure element (SE) AND 2) Google is willing to pay the "rental" fees to get into the AT&T secure element. My bet is that Neither will happen.
So, for the Skyrocket, it will be Isis or nothing. However, given that the Skyrocket does have NFC and (being based on the Galaxy S2 line) *should* have SWP (Single Wire Protocol...it is a physical connection between the NFC system and the SE on the SIM), there is a good bet it will be enabled and you can get one when it is released to a wider audience.
AT&T has is app blocked doesn't appear in the play store.

Is there a way to get Google wallet in Canada?
I know Rogers is partnering with CIBC and Bell with RBC. But is there a app like Google wallet which does the same thing but in Canada??
There is no way to get google wallet in Canada at the moment (play store won't let it be downloaded out side if the US)
What would happen if next time you were in the States and you picked up a prepaid Visa gift card, could you then download the wallet app and activate the card for payment while still In the USA. And the bigger question would it still work once you get back to Canada
What about those who have dual citizenship? Can they get use of the Wallet app, say, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday?
Americans don't try to steal your universal healthcare, so don't steal their exclusive Wallet app j/k
Well i tried it on my GPE HTC one with android 4.4 at metro the other day. It did not work. I got a message telling me international transactions are not supported. The app however was easy to setup. I just added my US based google account and it let me download the wallet app off of the play store. I added my canadian CC with a us billing address.

I've made a few purchases with my bank of America card but apparently BOA is not eligible for this promotion according to Samsung...even though they have their logo plastered all over the Samsung pay page. Such bull

These things are generally a collaboration between businesses. In this case, I'd bet between Samsung and their banking partners whom I'd wager are bearing the bulk of the costs for this promotion (with the bank whose card is used in each instance paying back Samsung a large portion of the gift card's cost, and the gift card issuer agreeing to a discounted cost to issue the card). Probably BOA, for whatever reason, declined to participate in the promotion.

Just got an Ebay Gift card. Couple that with my free wireless charger I got yesterday, and I am loving my S7 Edge
Yes I'd have to say Samsung has really pulled out all the stops with this product launch. The sales and related promotions, combined with their greatly improved advertising campaign, have been very impressive. Some carriers are even offering BOGO deals which I've never seen done with new, highly anticipated flagship smartphones before.
It'll be interesting to see what they do for the Note 6.

Went in BestBuy today and they were offering the free wireless charger with purchase.
The terms for the 30$ gift card says no bank of american debit card. Does anyone know about BoA credit cards?
Anyone who got the gift card (I chose Best Buy) have problems adding it to their wallet?
Did the purchase yesterday, requested the $30 certificate and chose Best Buy. I received a notification of the $30 Best Buy gift certificate in my Samsung pay app. However when I try to add the gift certificate to my Samsung wallet I get the following message:
"Gift doesn't belong to the given user"
Appreciate any help with this. Can't figure out why it's saying this to me.
