I think SONY smart watch is really cool!
Then, How much is it??
I think the current going price at Best Buy is $199. I mention Best Buy since (1) that is where I purchased mine and (2) they sell the SW2 with metal bracelet instead of the rubber strap (looks way better). By luck I saw Best Buy had it on sale for $160 for a day a few days after I purchased it so I was able to get Best Buy to refund the $40. You can Google other places that sell including mail order, but I wanted to buy from a place I could easily return if I had any difficulties. Plus... I wanted the metal bracelet, which fits well, looks good (has a subtle Sony logo on the bracelet), and was essentially the same price as the rubber strap version.

The bracelet does grab the occasional hair, but overall it is comfortable and they must have used my wrist as a model because it fits exactly how I like (a little loose) right out of the box. Here's a picture, sorry it is more of the watch and less of the bracelet.

I hate it when the metal bracelets grab the hair
Costs way too much, I've had mine for a month now and come to the conclusion that it's the dumbest purchase i've ever made. It constantly loses connection with my phone and the only way to reconnect is to reset the watch to factory defaults, which means that it then has to download all the widgets again.
best stats so far: Stayed connected for more than an hour(ish), battery lasted about 24 hours with no widgets loaded
worst stats so far: took me almost an hour to get it "talking" to my phone, then lost connection within 5 mins, battery lasted less than 2 hours.
misc: nfc connects to my phone then the watch just sits doing nothing, never completes, I have to switch the watch off then on again to get time displayed again.
I've given up trying to use it as a smartwatch now, not worth the effort, so i'ts relegated to a simple watch (that needs charged every bloody day !)
Since lithium batteries have approx 300 recharge cycles the watch will probably last a lot less than a year at the current rate.
Sony should be sued for misrepresenting the watch as in any way smart imo.

I don't have your problem:
1.it stay connected ALWAYS
2.it lost connection only if out of range or I have a wall between me and my phone
3.the battery life is good: once I used the smartwatch FIVE days with 1 charge!!! Not so bad...
4.nfc not work with me too, but I made the manual pairing and don't have to pair it agains so often to make this a problem...
I think that if you use it without bluetooth connected, maybe you have to use it a week without charge it... so if your battery charge don't work, I think you have to turn it back!
The other problems maybe are for the rom on your phone... or some problem with bluetooth signal (microwave or other ...)... i don't know.
I'm very happy with my smartwatch... maybe it is not perfect, ofcourse, but for now I use it with notification, mute calls, active wifi or airplane mode from swatch, look at calendar from watch, etc...
I can live without it, but I think I live better with it.
If I were you I would look in Amazon. Maybe you can get it cheap with the rubber one, and later you can buy a cheap but good band on eBay all 24mm bands suit for this smartwatch so it's easy to change it. Anyway, I'm very satisfied with the rubber one
About the problems mentioned here I didn't have any of them.
I could pair it easily with nfc, it never disconnect except being very far from mobile or having walls between both devices. The battery life is simply amazing! The shortest period of time was 4 days having used it a lot, and the longest 5 or 6 using it more or less...
Once you get used to it you need it everyday, mainly in the street
I have to say all this goodness is with my s4.
Perhaps it depends on the mobile you pair with smartwatch

I don´t recognize this at all.
1. I don´t think it costs too much, I´m very happy with what I got for the money.
2. I have never lost connection to the phone "unintentionally".
3. Battery life for me has been 3-4 days and I get a lot of mail since I got my work email through TouchDown and then FB, webmail etc.
4. NFC connection worked perfectly (not that it matters that much since you only use it once..)
I think the rubber band looks better because it tapers to the width of the watch. I haven't had any of the problems mentioned earlier in the thread. I love it. I paid $150 CDN off Kijjii BNIB.

As much as I love my new Desire, one thing I am not so keen on is how fast it is possible to rip through a fully charged battery.
I have already found that a fully charged Desire that is unplugged when I leave for work at 7am will need a charge by around 3pm!
This may be due to my usage, but what's the point of having a smartphone unless you use it to the max
Previously I had a Raphael which had a similar problem, which I solved by getting an extended battery from eBay.
Extended batteries for the Desire seemed pretty scarce on eBay - most of the ones on there being for the Nexus one which has a slightly different backplate. I did find one for £13.99 that was shipped from Hong Kong, so I thought it was worth a try.
Around 2 weeks later this arrived in the post:
{

}
First impressions were good, the backplate felt pretty solid and has a nice rubberised finish to it.
It was promptly fitted to my Desire:
Again I was impressed with the quality, the backplate fitted perfectly - no gaps or bulges:
It also passed the most important test; not bursting into flames when i plugged the charger in!
As you can see it doubles the thickness of the Desire, but its not too obtrusive in my opinion. As a bonus you can actually stand the phone on its side for video watching
Today was the first full day of usage, and so far it has been running for 14 hours and the battery level (Using Battery Indicator Pro) is at 14%.
That includes 97 texts sent, around 20 minutes of calls, 10 minutes using RAC Traffic app (GPS), 10 minutes using Google Maps, 30 minutes with the WiFi on using VNC to connect to a machine at work, say 10 minutes of browsing, and randomly checking emails & Twitter throughout the day. (sync was turned off)
This is pretty much exactly what I wanted - being able to go a whole day without a charge, and still use the phone as I pleased. The trade-off is a slightly bigger and heavier phone but I can live with that
If anyone wants I an extended battery I heartily recommend one like this.
Is it ok to link to eBay sellers? As I don't mind providing the link.
Now i'm off to (finally) charge my phone...
Thanks for the review, ebay seller links are fine or just give the item number/seller? How about in the pocket, it must feel heavy and bulging out?
I was thinking about getting one of these, thanks. As above, same question really does it make it feel considerably heavier?
What about this one?

Although the back cover looks better people on another forum have said that this battery is not that good and seems to not give any extra juice compared to the original. Check my posts about it here, I would not get that battery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=673449&page=9
Eurgh, that back cover looks terrible.
This is the one I bought:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2500MAH-EXTEN...UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL&hash=item4150ccfef7
According to my kitchen scales the Desire weighs 165g with the extended battery fitted.
It doesn't feel considerably heavier, and still fits fine in the back pocket of my jeans.
Currently it's been running for 17 hours and has 32% left
I have one too since yesterday exactly the same battery. I must say I havent seen so much different so far. Maybe slighter better but I thought it would be much better than that.

£14 you mean?
I've really had no problems with the battery. It's much better than my old G1, and I use my phone constantly to check e-mail, twitter and play games during smoke breaks. The battery lasts from 9am til about 10pm. I'm using OpenDesire but haven't tested other ROMs.
this is medium to low usage and i get 2days with default battery.
would put such cover crap on my desire
I dunno what's the big deal with those big batteries? The phones original battery workes all fine. Just turn off all widgets, like "Mobile"-internet widget who drains most power of them all, and you'll survive for next 6 upcomming days - with one charge! And before U think that big battery is "good", maybe u shall take a look here: http://batteryboss.org/
I can easily do that with my normal battery. This looks like crap. Did you even train your battery when you just got your Desire?
Bought an extended one with 2500 mah at ebay.
Use it for about two days.
My results is about 30 hours of usage with icq always on, some calls, refresh mail and weather.
Not so bat, but i've expected more...
The cover looks horrid - I'll stick to charging my phone each night thank you!!
Adding maybe 1 hour of battery life with a battery that is more than likely crap quality and will degrade after 1 week AND adding a back cover that makes the phone look like crap?
No thanks.
Hi there, do you still have the link to the extended battery you bought?

I'd love to have this battery, but then again I'd hate to damage my beloved Desire without my silicone case, so to be or not to be, eh?!
by the way, to save battery, hold power button till some noptions come up, at the bottom there is an internet option, just click that to turn internet connection off whenever you are not useing the phone! gives me 2 days with heavy use (gaming, music etc)

All righty so after much pondering and wondering 'should I' and 'what if'... I finally said screw it and bought the 3,600mAh Mugen Power Battery for my G2
Pricey at $100 and nearly 3 weeks to get due to back order, it was tough... but once I got it, installed it, charged it, deep cycled a couple times... battery life is flat out awesome.
Typical daily usage for me includes 2-3 sessions of 20 minutes of streaming music (Pandora or Subsonic), 20 minutes calling, ~50 to 100 SMS, ~20 emails, and occasionally I'll get on the browser and check stuff out online.
I leave GPS and 3G on all the time, Sync is always on, I turn WiFi on when I'm at home, sometimes I use bluetooth (very rare) for keyboard.. I use Automatic brightness
On my G2 using CM7, and overclock to 1.1Ghz w/ONDEMAND governor stock 1300mAh battery achieved 14-20 hours of run time, typically the phone was dead after around 15 hours. Sometimes I would get more if I didn't use it much, other times if I GPS on battery, I get 10-12 hours
Now with 3600mAh.. the WORST I've gotten (this was trying to kill the phone asap) I got 20 hours. Mind you I had NAV on when it wasn't needed, I left brightness at max, left WiFi and bluetooth on, etc etc...
I've been using the phone today normally, my battery is at 82% and I've been 9 hours and 19 minutes since unplugged. This battery is ridiculously awesome!! I haven't even been able to drain it under normal usage, yet lol
The size it added is not all that big of a deal.. I can post some pictures but the fat cover adds maybe 1/8 inch to the phone's thickness. Its ugly IMO... but its functionality has captured my heart lol I really do love the run time with this battery, it was so worth ditching my case and paying $100 for it. I really do like it!
I'll post pics when I get another camera to snap some of the phone (my phone has become my primary camera LOL)

You can see a sharp drop.. I played games on the phone for 2-3 hours. I imagine if I did not play any games on it, I could have gone much longer.. I would guess perhaps another 12-24 hours on this charge!
Huh?
Sorry, your avatar distracted me
Nice review though, I stuck with the mugen 1800 and it serves my purpose. Get's me easily through the day with the little extra kick if needed

The battery is pretty good. I can get a full days use easy out of it. This includes heavy browsing, games, 100-200 texts a day, email, Twitter and Facebook. Here is the link, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120680372473&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I also have a picture of it on the phone itself.
I bit and got the 1800 mAh battery, didn't want the extra bulkness, but needed something to get over this crappy stock battery, I usually do a lot of texting/talking on my mytouch 4g and it would usually get me thru the day if not more then 24 hours including stand by. With this battery, I couldn't get thru a whole day w/o charging, so hoping the 1800 mah battery can help.

most are this batteries are mislabeled either way haha... I prefer paying for the mislabeled 3600 since I'll get it in like 3 days rather than like 20 XD
These 3500 mAH batteries aren't bad at all. I've been using it for 2 weeks now, and I can last 2 days no problem. Only challenge is trying to completely kill the battery.
Might save a few bucks, but you have to be careful with these no-name batteries.
They sometimes only test at 60-70% of the capacity they're listed at.
http://batteryboss.org/
Now Id still say this is a better deal than the Seidio or Mugen, considering the 3200 Mugen tested at 75% of the capacity promised, and Seidio 3500mah at 81% of promised capacity.
The no name (different no-name but still) 3600mah tested in at 2466mah, 70%, but costs a lot less that the Seidio and Mugen (15% the price).
I bought a 3500mah. Hopefully the battery life makes up for the bulkness of the phone.
One question. Does it feel weird with the big battery in your pocket?

Yea I received it a week ago, I like it so far.
The battery door you can tell is cheap when you get it, however I've gotten use to it fast, the slightly rubberized texture is a nice feel for me and seems to fit better in my hands now.
After about 2, 3 days of charge up, drain down, charge up it seems to be nicely consistent now in the power usage can easily get a couple of days out of it before needing a charge (mostly on account of both my SetCPU profile and undervolting table).
Basically once fully charged it could take about 1.5-2 hours before it would end up showing 99% on stuff like Google Music, email, Facebook, etc.
A battery screenshot back when I was doing a bit of music and background notifications (fb, email, twitter, Skype, etc logged in and notifying around 10-15 minute mark), screen not on as often, but I don't usually have my screen on all that often especially as I don't normally sit thru a game that long.
Charges pretty fast at least.
I don't remember 100% what I did at what specific time frame, but I know from 42% to 36% I was watching an Episode of Heroes so bout 40ish minutes of netflix there.
EDIT (7/26/2012):
I drained the battery down til the phone died, and used a battery monitoring app to measure the mV charging back up from 0% to 100%. Also a mAh measurement of the battery. (took about 5 hours to drain the battery down with everything running GPS, 100% screen, wifi, bluetooth, FM radio, 90%+ CPU load, etc)
Thanks for the info, I will definitely be getting one.
Hopefully it will render the same results for my phone.

Lol It's not that big, I can actually put it in my pant's pocket just fine. If I can still wrap my first set of knuckles around the lip of the phone it's still not too thick, notice that the whole thing is not thicker than the width of my thumb.

Being that I'm in the United States (Grand Rapids, Michigan), and the seller was also in the United States (Georgia) I paid 6/21 Thursday and received it on monday morning 6/25. One of the reasons I picked this seller was because shipping was from the US and not from China, even if the product itself was probably identical to the Chinese shippers.
If you were in Holland, Michigan (which is bout a half an hour drive from me) you'd probably get it in the same time frame. Not sure about Georgia, USA to Holland (EU), probably faster than from Shanghai maybe.
With the latest EliteKernel I'm getting even better battery life (primarily in screen off mode) so will probably be posting another screenshot in the next day or so.

I actually got one few moths ago and Ive got to say, that using hw keyboard is incredibly easy even with this battery mounted. I would say mby easier than with normal one.

Yea I find it easier because the extra 'lip' on the battery door makes it easier to grasp when working in landscape mode. Normally landscape isn't a problem if you're not using the keyboard at all, but once you slide out the keyboard the working thickness you have to grab onto is effectively halved with the original battery door.
Wow, ~2 days of battery life? Is it really worth the extra bulk, though? And how long does it take to fully charge?

The day it arrived it took about 4-5 hours to be considered 'charged', when I first got it, it said 66% but thats because it was going off the info from the stock battery when it was actually near dead. So for a couple hours it'll actually say 99% until it finally hits the top at 100%. It takes a couple of days for the battery stats to become accurate it seems, but you could go a full day easy after the first 5-6 hour charge.
I've gotten setCPU profile tweaked and undervolting as low as I can while keeping 122-1286 stable, but I don't use it 24/7 at full brightness so yes it could go without a charge for over a day and a half. (though seems longer now that the new EliteKernel is actually easier on the battery once again).
With my original stock 1300mAh battery if I were to keep it in standby I could probably best around 18-20 hours, but that is if I didn't actually have the screen on most of the time.
If I get a chance to actually run down the battery I'll get a screenshot.
Far as the bulk, it actually doesn't bother me as much as some people may think, I actually prefer the cheap semi-rubberized backing on it to the chrome door, and it's easier for me to grip especially in landscape orientation, and I don't wear tight jeans or anything like that. But yea may seem like a brick when our phones are getting thinner and thinner.
I went with that ebay listing because I didn't like how some of the more expensive offerings (22 to 80$) had a dome-like covering over the speaker as opposed to the flat flush that this has, and the gamble thus far seems to have paid off.
Hmm this is sort of unrelated to the main topic, so I'll apologize, but:
Recently, my Desire Z got some water damage. Seems to be working fine at the moment, but I notice the battery's been overheating, despite relatively moderate use, and playing games such as Bloons TD resulted in a considerably toasty back cover. Does this seem like a good time to switch out my battery?
Short answer yes, why not try out the one in the op? Seems promising!

Thanks for answering! I'm considering a 1800mAh one though, as I prefer retaining the phone's original exterior appearance.
I just got mine about two weeks ago so here is my review. I ordered the same one as the OP on ebay and paid $6. This is one of the best mods done to my phone! I can easily get 3-4 days out of my phone before having to charge. I'm on stock GB. Sure it ads weight and thickness but not having to worry about my phone making it through my 12 hour work shift is well worth it. I previously had a 2200mah ebay battery made for the Evo 4G. The battery door no longer fit so I just used a cheap ebay case. I could get 12-14 hours out of it, but it started to wear out and I was lucky to get 10 hours out of it. This 3500mah battery is def worth it.

Good to know, I been pretty much on EliteMod ICS since I had the battery, but least your post gives me kind of an idea what stock would be like (or better yet what something like G2Lite 1.6 would be like).
Trying to drain down my battery, wasn't draining fast enough. So grabbed a battery draining app, gps, screen to 100%, BT, CPU load up.
Got setCPU profile set to 1286mhz, performance governor. And Spirit FM running in the background.
It's down to 33% so far, once I can get it under 5% or so I'll get it plugged in and charging up so can get an idea of the battery's minimum mv vs maximum mv, and 'measured' mAh. I previously did it from 29% to 100% with a measured mAh around 2700.
I just wanted to share the deal I found on a spare battery with 200 extra mAh. I would imagine that this does not have the NFC chip, but I wasn't too concerned with that as of yet since I don't use any tags yet anyway. I spent a little over $3.00 with shipping for one battery. I figured even if it was garbage, I'm not out much money.

Update:
Received this battery today. It was at 68% when I put it in this morning. So far, so good. I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary, like excessive heat.

is it safe to use I9300 battery on our device?
Even the real one that costs $44 does not have great reviews. Will also lose NFC capability that the $44 one has. Should be ok for backup if does not explode in phone.
Fishy.... very fishy... also curious to see how this pans out.
"$3.00 with shipping for one battery" = guaranteed junk
I was given one of these exact looking batteries (can't be sure of brand/manufacturer as they're un-branded but they certainly have the same sticker from the looks of the picture) and thought "what the hell... it's free" and started using it. Less than 3 days in and I noticed my phone getting warmer than usual. Didn't think anything of it, thought it might have been just from me using the phone more. About 5 days into using it the phone started getting REALLY hot when charging. Next thing I knew, while charging the phone, the edge of the battery cover "popped" and was pushed out so it unlatched from the phone. You guessed it, the battery was swollen and HOT to the touch. Hot enough where I couldn't hold it bare handed for very long. Unplugged it immediately, placed it in a heat/fire proof container to let it cool down, but it kept swelling for the next 5 mins to the point where it won't fit in the phone any longer. (Not that I tried, but from the looks of the deformation there is no way it would fit in the battery compartment.)
As they say, you get what you pay for. Why risk saving ~$30 when it can damage/ruin your ~$500 phone! Worst yet, why risk it for bodily harm to yourself or your loved ones?!! (Perhaps this can be a covert way to dispose of/harm your mortal enemies and blame it on faulty junk electronics... hmm...) I'm fairly certain that if I had kept charging the battery there would have been a very likely case of it starting a fire as it was on top of a paper book on my night stand while charging. I can't imagine how horrible I would feel if MY phone had started a fire that ended up hurting or killing someone in the process...
Moral of the story - yes, you might get a battery that works well for you and I'm sure many people have, but why risk it?? My suggestion - STAY AWAY! STAY FAR FAR AWAY!
I actually bought this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330768545772
supposedly 2900mah
comes with 3 batteries and a charger
Now my word of warning: I have used these china batteries before for my other smartphones. They never gave me an issue of overheating or anything like that, but dont believe the power ratings they have. it is NOT 2900mah. Its probably more like 1800mah
I keep them charged and use them in case my phone dies and I have to have a phone right away. I dont use them as my normal day to day battery.
I got two Anker batteries for $15.00. I usually only need to resort to using one of them each week, but I always have a second if needed. I believe for a few more dollars you can get an external battery charger. That takes care of the charging problem.
How about two batteries and a charger from hyperion for $20. I believe this to be a fairly reputable brand. It can be found on Amazon if you search for hyperion. Sorry, it appears I am not cool enough to post links yet.

I can vouch for them. Tested several batteries and it does have longer battery life than OEM

Haven't tested the Anker 2200 yet so I cant say for sure which battery is the best.
I might be looking into picking one up but am leaning towards an external one.

Thanks for the heads up.
I realize that this battery most likely is not a good battery. For $3 it would certainly be a good emergency backup.
It hasn't been delivered yet, but I'll give an update once I'm able to try it.

I use a seidio charge vault that was invaluable when I was on a work trip and started experiencing frequent hot boots on a previously fairly stable rom. Between trying to troubleshoot that and flashing to a backup I went through my battery pretty quick. It is also my go to travel charger.

Not seeing myself buying a new tablet any time soon but the battery eventually will force me to. Unless of course I can change out the battery. Anyone have recommendations?
There are two on Amazon. One of them has mixed reviews so probably going to avoid. The other costs twice as much and only has one review which seems suspicious
Hoping there are other sources we can get a spare battery from

I saw some in ebay looks to be excellent quality
I bought one from eBay for £5.25 as my battery is nearly 2 year old but is still working OK, I told another Tab S1 owner who`s battery was dying, he ordered one and he said it looked genuine, the problem is he cracked his screen when trying to open his Tab S, he ordered a new screen but i have not heard back what the battery performance was like.
I bought a tool kit from China for like £2 so i am ready for when my battery dies

I recently replaced both my charging port and battery for my 10.5 in July, it is working better than ever.
I see you're running a 8.4 but the ebay listing I bought my battery from is still live for anyone coming into this thread looking for an answer pertaining to the 10.5 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/141932181009), it might be worth checking out if the same seller supplies 8.4 batteries.
Ok thanks guys. I'll give eBay a look and that seller

Please do... It would be very interesting to see if a 5£ battery is any good....It sounds to good to be truth...?
The 23 month old battery in my T800 is still going strong so i don't really want to bust it open just to see if the replacement one i bought is good.

Understood, just kidding. Amazing that your battery still is doing so well. Have you done something special to it, "settings wise"? Have you noticed any difference in battery usage with Marshmallow?
I don't game or use apps that get the battery hot, heat kills your battery, also 99% of the time i only charge to 80% and do not discharge below 20% every time you charge to 100% you damage your battery a little bit, it`s all cumulative.
I just watch video`s read ebooks and browse the internet, but keep away from apps/game that cause my battery to get hot in my tablet i cannot afford to replace it for a few years, that why i have a replacment battery ready to go.
I use my notebook for gaming also i have a android tv box on my 55" tv if i want to android game.
I have an HTC M7 (the worst phone in the world to replace the battery) that 3 years old and the battery is still good as new as far as i can tell, I use the same charge discharge settings as i do on my T800.
Most people will laugh at lengths i go to keep my battery`s in good condition, but i have read recently that Sony is introducing a battery save mode to their smart phones to do automatically what basically i have been doing manually for years.

My original one was weakening only when using only 2hrs (not gaming) since I have bought it just 8 months. I claimed it with Samsung and now the second one seem to be weaken again (7 Months after that). Sony's battery is much better for me but I don't like its button which inside the screen.
Sorry for my poor English
To me a more burning question is, where is the source of an affordable replacement headphone jack for the 10.5 model? A few months ago I dropped my Tab S, with headphone plugged in, and it hit the floor on the headphone plug. The headphone jack has sort of become loose. It still works, but I need to make sure I don't touch the headphone plug or wire when I use it. I just saw a speaker and headphone assembly sold on ebay for 35USD + 5USD shipping, which is ridiculous. Vendor, if you're reading this just keep dreaming on about charging 40USD for a headphone jack for a two year old tablet.

My Tab S 10.5 is also about 2 years old and my battery is still going strong, I have not done anything special with it and am running stock Marshmallow. I mainly use my Tab S to consume media, mostly TV watching on XFinity TV app and playing music to my BT speaker I keep in the bathroom when getting ready for work. I have the Best Buy 32 Gig version.
I recall having a Panasonic laptop which had software to stop the charge at 80%, when plugged in. Is there a similar software for android or specific to the Tab S?

Nothing automatic for the S1 to stop charging before 100% , I use GSam battery monitor to set an alarm at 80% so i can pull the power cable as soon as i hear it go off, I have only charged my T800 to 100% around 7 or 8 times and the battery is still great after 2 years of daily use.
I read a couple of weeks ago that Sony were going to add a battery save to their mobile phones if this is true?
Below is the free version of Gsam, I enable all the alarms for battery high, low or high temp or battery temp or battery voltage.

Currently, I use my tablet plugged in most of the time, so it would be useful if I could just stop the charging at 80% from software.

Accubattery is also enabling an alarm at the charging rate you wish to stop. It is also providing informations regarding the health of your battery. 2 years after purchase, mine is only at 75% of its initial capacity. I get around 5h15 of sot in mixed usage, merely 2h30 in gaming
