[Q] Slide unlocker shortcuts, anything similar to cyanogen? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I've just migrated from a galaxy note 2 running cyanogen to a nexus 5 and noticed that the lockscreen slider only unlocks the phone and doesnt give me an option to add shortcuts unlocking straight to application like cyanogen has built in. Do you guys know if the application cyanogen uses is available somwhere to be installed on a nexus 5 for example?
Thanks!

Need help finding a type of lockscreen app

I'm looking for a lockscreen app that allows access to specific apps on my phone without actually unlocking my phone. For example, i want friends to be able to pickup my phone and call someone, select a new song, use the internet browser, but not actually unlock my phone. I tried a few different lockscreen apps and they all allow for the lockscreen shortcuts to specific apps, but if your phone is locked, u must unlock it before using the shortcuts. Ideally, the app im looking for would still have the same shortcuts as in widgetlocker, but wouldnt require lock, provide limited access to only the shortcut app, and then have the standard unlock screen as well. anything like this already out there? or is it possible to create something like this? Thanks!
I'm on droid bionic, gingerbread, rooted.
Don't know if this helps, but when I was on CyanogenMod 7.2, I enabled lockscreen gestures (can't remember exact menu steps). You can set up gestures like switch music tracks, open specified app, unlock, etc. This lockscreen is built into the ROM, though. Worked for me.

When you launched apps was the rest of the phone still locked? Most apps that have launch capabilities from the lock screen seem to lack security. after opening an app you can just use the home screen button or back button to get to the main menu.

Again, this app doesn't actually keep the phone locked. When u go to camera from the lock screen nothing stops you from simply clicking the homescreen button to unlock the phone entirely.

I believe it was; however, I'm not 100% sure. I have a backup of my phone with that setup, so I can revert later on tonight and check for you.

No, the phone is not secure after using lockscreen gestures to open an app. Sorry, I couldn't help. Hope you find what you're looking for.

[Q] Moto G Quick settings - 2 fingers only?

Hi Guys, I searched a lot in the Moto G forum looking for the answer to my question, but sadly I couldn't find it. What I want to know is why the Quick Settings menu in the Moto G (the tiles menu, the one with the owner picture, wi-fi, data, bluetooth toggles...) can only be accessed using two fingers? I ask that because I come from a Samsung Galaxy Mini and a Galaxy Wonder, both running CM10, and in them I can access the quick settings by both pulling the status bar with two fingers or simply pulling it from the right corner, what I think to be a faster and more natural option.
Can anyone confirm that in KitKat this annoyance has been fixed? Isn't it a standard jellybean feature? If it is, why would Motorola disable it?
Thanks in advance for anyone that can answer.
My Moto G is still on 4.3, but my Nexus 5 with KitKat needs 2 fingers aswell.

AOSP's quick settings menu doesn't support opening from the right corner in phone UI mode. It's weird. CM10 added that functionality.

That is just too bad then... will take sometime to get used to not having this feature and that button to close all recent apps. Hopefully we'll have CM on the G soon.... Thanks for answering.
It's an added feature that Cyanogen added in.

You just need to install Xposed framework and GravityBox (JB or KK depending on your MotoG rom) for this to work. It's one of the best plugin for xposed.
1st install Xposed, then GravityBox then reboot.
Go back to Xposed, select GravityBox module and then enable all the options you want (in that case your quick settings)

Agreed that Gravity Box, as usual, holds the solution to most "must be a better way while remaining stock" questions and I personally use the quick settings from the right option, along with resizing, ordering and adding more settings, BUT they're still available with one finger as standard via the settings/notifications toggle in the top right corner, just needs a swipe and then a press so not a great hardship if you don't want to root.
If you're going to root a virtually vanilla Android phone like this though, Xposed is the way to go nowadays as you effectively build a custom ROM to your exact spec, not a lot of reasons to install someone elses ROM that has as much bloat as Samsung put in theirs as nearly all the good bits are available as modules for Xposed.

So true. But Motorola left the part about Xposed out of the user guide that came with my phone.

Any idea why the toggles don't work on the quick settings panel? It seems to just take me to the settings page. How pointless is that?

Are you using stock software?
I like using the phone with just one hand (moto g) and defined a Nova action to access that menu. This is my screen now. The little hand scrolls down the notification bar and the home button opens the quick settings.

I am on stock rom and I tried that but it doesn't seem to work. I'll have another go when I'm at home, it's my mum's phone. That's also why I don't want to mess with rooting etc if I can avoid it.

Xposed Lockscreen Notifications Module?

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knows of a module for lockscreen notifications is being worked on or if there will be one?

Hi,
Maybe it's this that you are looking for: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2501926? (note sure)?
Or take a look here for a complete list of Xposed modules: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327541.
I would love to know this as well I find myself not wanting to flash any roms that don't have it.
Try this out along with the Floating Panels add on for it. No reason to not try a ROM out because an "app" not a "feature" is not preinstalled .

I would call it a feature not an app. Those while similar are not the same thing. Thanks though.
Here you go☺
Check out Xblast tools. It has lock screen notifications under the XLocky tab.

How to add shortcuts to the lockscreen?

Hi,
Can you guys tell me how to add shortcuts to the lockscreen? I could not find the option anywhere.
Thanks for your help.
As far as I know, the only way is to use xposed. Option not available in standard settings.

Dang. Samsung truely became Apple's ***** on this one. The phone looks the same and now works the same.
I haven't rooted yet and I wanna wait a little bit and see how the Android and Samsung Pay work first before rooting.
Do you know any way to add the flash light on the home screen?
Xposed is the way I have always added that, but I have not tried it yet on the note 5, sorry!
