SIM unlock help - tried methods in forum - HTC One S

I would post in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1693491, but I just joined the forum
Through this forum I rooted my phone, softbricked and recovered it, all through reading and researching; never had to make a post. Now I'm trying to SIM-unlock my phone, and have run out of ways to approach the problem.
I'm running dark jelly S edition, version 31, and I've been entirely happy with it.
I've tried the manual, semi-automatic, and automatic methods described in the thread I linked, with the following results:
Manual / semi-auto:
IMEI last 7 digits: 0918025
UN_lock_code: 046113285
Resultant sim unlock code: 43542367 (doesn't work)
Automatic method: runs normally, but after UN_lock_code, says:
length: applet not found (x2)
/system/unlock.sh[59] 046113285 - 02570918: bad number "046113285"
Subtracting this by hand gets me the same result as above.
Can anyone advise me as to how to unlock my phone? I'm overseas for a couple weeks; and still paying / using t-mobile for my stateside service, but have no intention of paying their up-you-ass international rates when a local sim card / plan costs $5 tops. I've purchased said sim card, and get prompted for the code, but haven't been able to unlock it.

Thanks for the reply and effort, but that's a little extreme as a solution for me; contacted t-mobile and they've actually submitted a sim-unlock request for me (should've tried that first, i know)

1. I am a Canada WindMobile XT720 owner, from my knowledge if u have an account with them for 3months they gives out free unlock codes.
2. Root won't/can't give u 2.2, be sure root and firmware is apple and orange. Root is a permission level, such as Administrater/Guest on Windows (linux call highest permission level ROOT).
3. Android 2.2 is not coming to non-Korean XT720, however, some individuals are working on getting a modified, custom ...etc android 2.2 to work on XT720. Install/Upgrade/Modify firmware won't unlock the phone.
4. I tried the follow unlock code sellers on the internet, some honestly refunded my money, and some gave me BS unlock codes, these are the ones u should not try:
MobileInCanada(honestly refund)
WickedUnlock (gave me non-working code)
becareful these guys have multiple mirrored websites,so if u see similar only color changed website, it belongs to the same group.
I have yet to unlock my XT720... gonna wait 3 months

Have you tried flashing stock ROM, I think it's the only way you may use your mobile in your country, it's nothing to do with android version! and also does matter to superuser mode as well.
you need the following:
1. stock ROM for your country (google XT720 stock ROM)
2. RSD Lite (newest version is 4.9 I thing, google)
flash it and all done!
i purchased mine unlocked from Singapore, and then loaded the UK ROM
then I got root using this method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=887416
I am new to this Root & Flash except reading in Blogs.
If i fallow this steps 1 & 2 is my mobile will my mobile get Unlock, so that i can use any network.
If possible can you explain me clearly step by step how to install all this applications in my Mobile.
Thanks to All In Advance
the rooting is not to unlock the phone
it only unlocks the admin account, so that you can do system level stuff, with programs like AdFree and Titanium Backup
for SIM unlock you need a special number that the carrier could provide you
or if you go to those unlock sites (which usually are fakes)

What do you mean by lock or unlock???
Did you see any wording "lock" on your mobile? Or it just not showing your carrier?? Or you can post a photo showing your phone detail in >setting>about your phone!
Did you do any setting to try to manually seach your carrier or have your tried factory reset??
Too many questions!!!

I am in India, when i insert India Service provider Sim Card in my mobile , its saying phone is locked, as per my understanding i need unlock the phone with unlock code to make a incoming and out going call. I brought this mobile from Canada 3 months back from " Wind Mobile "
When i contact Wind Mobile they are saying i need to be active with their service for 90 days then they will provide unlock code .Being in India i cannot activate their Sim card even though it will be more expensive for me due to rooming charges.
Even i tried to get unlock code through some web sites but they are not working.
My question is that if i install 2.2 or 2.3 version in my mobile, is that going to unlock my mobile ?
Is their any other process to unlock my mobile like Flashing/ rooting or any other solutions.
Please try to help me

Hi can i use this method for all android devices?
Hi, I tried to unlock my HTC One S on 4 differents paid websites, but all say "unfortunately your unlock code cannot be calcuted, please double check your IMEI blabla" ). Since yestarday I kept trying these methods with NO SUCCESS.
Terminal emulator and ADB Shell say String not Fount / No IMEI
I try the method with ES file explorer. The bad news is The file "mmcblk0p6" is crypted when i opened as text. but when i open with notepad++ on my laptop THE IMEI in the file "mmcblk0p6" is completely different when I type *#06#
I calculate the NCK code with both IMEI, phone says "incorrect password" I pay for the IMEI i find in the file, the server send me the same NCK with the app in method 2.
All necessary information about IMEI, model, carrier are in the attachment
Please anyone have an idea?

I think I have a similar problem.
I have an HTC One S (I think S4 - 1.5Ghz). It is locked to ORange. I unlocked bootloader, rooted and finally managed to get busybox etc installed.
Method 1 and 2 provide the same code-
IMEI: 2547014 (last 7 digits)
Un lock code: 062975078
(sim unlock 61522531)
Method 3 didn't work as I got stuck after loading grep etc via busybox.
When I entered the unlock code I calculated the phone said unlock successful and that a reboot was necessary, but when it rebooted it asked for the unlock code again! I tried a different recovery (was using clockwork, went to twrp but still asked for the code on reboot.
I am scared to re-enter the code as I know I have limited tries - so far I have only entered it the once. I have factory resetted the phone - should I try and enter the code again?
I have now lost the boot screen after the factory reset so I don't think I can check the hboot.
As far as I am aware I did not install a new ROM at any point.
Thankyou thankyou and thankyou :->
We cannot thank you enough for sharing this brief 'tutuorial'. It worked like a charm once we had rooted the phone (which was the tricky part).
In case of it being helpful to anyone else, our device was prepared using:-
- CWM Ville with Touch Recovery ROM image.
- Chainfire SuperSU.
- BusyBox (must use Team Trickster's 'on Rails' initially so as to install from ZIP/SD storage,) followed by an immediate upgrade using the stericson version).
After installing that little lot, the acquisition of the sim unlock code was was a breeze. Thank you again.
Tested on HTC One S (S4)
Locked to Spanish vodafone
Worked like a charm
Had a little trouble installing busybox so installed viper S rom 2 and things went straight
Thank you very much
Cincinatti Bell Wireless
SIM unlock worked great after my crashcourse on rooting, recovery, and the bootloader all last night. But even customer support with HTC and T Mobile told me since it's from Cincinatti Bell Wireless, T Mobiles internet service WILL NOT WORK. :crying:
There's gotta be a work-around. Any way to move a Cincinatti Bell Wireless exclusive phone to T Mobile? There ought to be considering their wireless service is ending in a month. That carrier wasn't even in my area.

Tried all methods, outputting wrong IMEI
Hi guys, I've tried all the methods and I'm ending up at the same unlock code which doesn't work. I noticed the stated IMEI in the bash script is different to my actual IMEI, and so I guess the Un_Lock Code is wrong as well. I've checked the mmcblk0 files using a hex editor and the correct IMEI is in there. Does anyone have any ideas?
I am unlocked, S-off, SuperCID, clockwork Mod recovery, busybox installed, running the Stock ROM from factory reset.
Thanks
hi,
so i can't get unlock code with this command
su [enter]
strings -n 8 /dev/block/mmcblk0p6 [enter]
but it work well with this one
1. Note IMEI *#06#
2. adb shell
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 of=/sdcard/mmcp6.dump
3. Open mmcp6.dump on SDCARD
4. Look for in this file your IMEI
5. Just in front of your IMEI a 8-digit code which corresponds to the unlock code
may help some one

Subsidy Unlock Running CM 11

I have an AT&T Samsung Skyrocket. I rooted it and have installed CM 11-20150412-NIGHTLY-skyrocket. I'm trying to subsidy unlock this device. After no small amount of hassle by AT&T they have given me an unlock code based on my IEMI. This is the body of the e-mail they sent me:
Thank you for contacting AT&T Customer Care about unlocking your AT&T Mobile device.
CASE: CMaaaaaaaa_bbbbbbbbb
MOBILE: xxxxxxxxxx
IMEI: yyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
UNLOCK CODE: zzzzzzzz
We have reviewed your request and confirmed that the device may be unlocked.
Please allow 24 hours upon receipt of this notification to complete the unlock process.
To unlock your device, simply:
1. Power off the device, remove the battery, and insert a non-AT&T SIM card.
2. Re-insert the battery and power on the device with non-AT&T SIM.
3. The device displays” Enter the device unlock code.”
4. Enter the eight-digit unlock code once.
5. Press OK.
If your device has been altered from the original manufacturer’s standards, such as rooting the device, your unlock code may not work and you will need to contact the original manufacturer for assistance.
Please visit this link http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/location or call Samsung Mobile Customer Support 1-888-987-HELP (4357) Mon - Fri : 7am - 2am (CST) Sat - Sun : 9am - 10pm (CST)
I went to a T-Mobile store and they let me use a brand new SIM. When I powered the phone up I got the prompt for the unlock code. I carefully entered it and got a message the the unlock was unsuccessful. I powered it up again and even more carefully entered the unlock code. Same results.
More time on hold with AT&T and they decided that it needed to be an "Activated" SIM. So I did that. Needless to say I got the same results with 2 people verifying the entry of the unlock code.
Even more time on hold with AT&T and I got a third copy of the above e-mail with the text about altering the phone highlighted.
How can I accomplish a subsidy unlock on a rooted/ROMed Skyrocket?
Backup everything on your phone. Use Odin to go back fully stock, recovery and all. Do the unlock procedure, then reinstall custom recovery and ROM.

Thanks for the reply.
unlock codes only work on stock firmwares.
the free unlock method only works on one specific firmware.
either way u would have to backup ur cm11 rom to proceed, easy, yes.

AT&T has done that to me before. That time I was on a Captivate with stock ROM. They actually gave me a $100 credit toward international roaming because they couldn't unlock the phone. That was less than I spent so I made money on their fubar!

Sim unlocking question

Hello, I just bought an Alcatel Onetouch idol 3, from my Romanian provider(Vodafone), as I saw in other threads over here, everyone's talking about sim unlocking on websites, but my question is..
Is there any way to unlock the sim via bootloader, or flashing another firmware ?
Thank you
I also tought of the next way:
Unlock bootloader via WinDroid, gain the supercid, then use the windows update utillity to make an firmware update to an unlocked firmware
What you think ?

No one has reported on this forum to my knowledge a successful sim unlocking from a provider purchased idol 3. Here in USA it comes out unlocked from Amazon. I think you are confusing bootloader and sim unlock because I know of no "firmware" method of sim unlocking short of having the unlock code....although I certainly could be wrong Since you have only so many tries the best method is get your provider to give you the unlock code. Here in the USA you can get one from your provider if your account is in good standing and it's been 90 days since your last request. Most folks tell them they are going overseas and want to be able to use the phone....something similar might work for you?.
I went to my provider, and checked it there, the unlocking code was 60e, because the contract was still available, anyway..
I went to a GSM, and the guy took me 10e to unlock it xD

Galaxy Note 10 VZW Flashing Firmware to Bypass Sim Lock SM-N970U to SM-N970U1

Hi All,
Been at this for several hours today and feeling a bit frustrated. Here's the context.
I bought a used Verizon Galaxy Note 10 and took it to another country.
I arrived and put a sim card in *(the phone is intended to stay here)
4G signal appeared and text messages came in
Phone blocked signal and said "sorry, your device cannot be activated on another Network right now" then it says to call Verizon.
I call Verizon and ask how to unlock.
After transferring to multiple agents, the answer is that the phone is not locked in their system and that upon inserting a SIM from another carrier, I should be prompted to put in a code and it will be "00000000" to unlock the phone
The phone never presents this option and is perpetually unable to activate because of this sim lock.
At this point, I started reading up on how I could get around this and settled on using odin to flash firmware for a different carrier and maybe having to flash the SM-N970U1 packages because that should allow me to have different stock firmware.
So I proceed to download various different images.
Here is the TMB image for SM-N970U that I downloaded:
https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-N970U/TMB/N970USQU6FUBH
I also figured maybe I would be able to flash the verizon base image and get around this lock:
https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-N970U/VZW/N970USQU6FUCD
So then I proceed to use Odin3_v3.14.4 and place all of the 4 files in their corresponding fields in odin. The file list is as follows for one of the packages:
BL_N970USQU6FUD9_CL21599467_QB39871099_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
AP_N970USQU6FUD9_CL21599467_QB39871099_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta_OS11.tar.md5
CP_N970USQU6FUD9_CP19049000_CL21599467_QB39871099_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
CSC_OMC_OYN_N970UOYN6FUD9_CL21599467_QB39871099_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
I click start, the phone is recognized and then the flashing appears to occur successfully until it says pass at the end.
I reboot the phone and I notice right away that the signal is present, but then disappears and as the phone initializes the VERIZON message appears again.
Immediately I'm thinking, ok, I've just reflashed it with the TMobile image but the phone boots and says verizon and the sim lock is still there, so I probably didn't do something right.
So I factory reset, try again, no changes, I try adding the USERDATA and it also does nothing different.
At this point I'm willing to try the U1 firmware, so I download from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/n970u-and-n970u1-firmware-links-here.3957705/
But when I run the odin flash, I get model mismatch, yet the thread says they're compatible as U1 is just the samsung unlocked version. so I try the odin patch b found here:
https://odindownload.club/download/197/Odin3-v3.14.1-3B-PatcheD.zip
And it fails to write.
I am in desperate need of help as I've been unable to find more specific information, typically in threads people may say they've resolved the issue, but then they don't actually indicate what steps they took, or any of the details surrounding the resolution. If I can get help getting this resolved, I can document the exact steps i've taken in explicit detail so that others can follow them and achieve the same result.
Update:
Downloaded FRIJA to get the latest firmware, am going to explore doing a nand erase and repartition, followed by flashing tmobile firmware to see if that gets around it.

Flashing a (custom) ROM on an Android phone doesn't give one SIM unlock because the SIM lock stuff is in a separate ROM chip that is not part of the normal phone storage, AFAIK the SIM lock is stored in the Radio NVRAM, but I may err as always ...
Verizon has a 6 month unlock policy. if the phone is free of debt and older than 6 months it should be automatically unlocked. phone them, you bought the phone in good faith.

That's why I am thinking of wiping the NVRAM and just re-partitioning. Then I'll flash a non-verizon system onto it. Could be that this resolves it.
Thoughts?

I spent 2 hours on the phone with them and spoke to 3 different representatives. They all confirmed the phone was not locked in their system. I read it was 60 day unlock policy.

With AT&T they give you requested then they gave you an unlock code, it's not automatic. At least it was like this a few years back.

So this appears to be true.
I loaded up ADB and turned on USB debugging and started passing shell commands through and found these files in the system with nvram in the name:
/sys/module/dhd/parameters/nvram_path
/vendor/firmware/nvram.txt_ES03_semco_b0
/vendor/firmware/nvram.txt_1rh_es13_b0
/vendor/firmware/nvram.txt_CS01_semco_b1
/vendor/firmware/nvram.txt_ES02_semco_b0
/vendor/firmware/nvram.txt_1rh_es43_b1
/vendor/firmware/nvram.txt_1rh_es41_b1
/vendor/firmware/nvram.txt_1rh_es32_b0
/vendor/firmware/nvram.txt_ES00_semco_b0
/vendor/firmware/nvram.txt_ES01_semco_b0
/vendor/firmware/nvram.txt_1rh_es12_b0
/vendor/firmware/nvram.txt_1rh_es42_b1
/vendor/firmware/nvram.txt_1rh_es11_b0
Makes me wonder if the value for locked/unlocked is editable in one of those files.
a sample of what is in the /vendor/firmware/nvram.txt_ES03_semco_b0 file:

In any case I have an issue that I can't seem to resolve. Every guide I have found about how to change carrier firmware is pretty straightforward. Yet when I flash the firmware successfully through odin for say, the sprint version of the phone, upon reboot, in about phone still says VZW, which basically tells me the phone isn't actually flashing.
I need to understand why I can't seem to get it to have another carrier's firmware. What am I doing wrong?

Maybe I can edit this with ADB?
I have seen several forums where people with the same error message simply flashed another carriers firmware onto the phone and were able to get around it.
Here is someone saying they tried the U1 firmware and it gave them the option to put in an unlock code:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/is-verizon-locking-s10.3908683/post-80813873
Every time I try to flash the U1 firmware odin tells me model mismatch.
Update:
I flashed the latest available ATT version of U1 firmware from here:
https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-N970U1/ATT/N970U1UEU6FUDA
Using Odin patch 3B downloaded from here:
https://www.droidmirror.com/downloading/download-odin3_v3-13-1_3b_patched-zip
Having tried many U firmware + USERDATA from different carriers and never was able to get it to say anything other VZW in the about phone section.
By going to the U1 version I was able to get the unlock code portion to pop up when inserting the sim card, the phone also claims it's model number is SM-N970U1 instead of SM-N970U now.
The code Verizon gave me on the phone 0000 0000 flat out DOESN'T work. I called again today and they had their manager use a tool to provide an unlock code because the "unlock" button in their system didn't appear for my IMEI.
That system said the unlock code is 0000 0000 just like the tech the previous day. So now, they're transferring me to the advanced technical support, but somehow I doubt they will give me a code.
In any case, what I would rather do is go through ADB and try to get some binaries or text files out (may require root for these files) and get the unlock code from the device itself.
I wish this thread was more active because there are some good opportunities here to explore the OS itself and the files in it as well as tools that can be used to read the binary.
Spoke with "Advanced" support at verizon. They had no way to generate a code to unlock the device. Basically Verizon's systems didn't automatically generate an unlock code after the previous owners had the phone activated for the minimum 60 days. Because the phone was a prepaid phone and not a post paid phone, their system deleted the history of the of the prepaid account after a certain period of time when the previous owner had sold the phone to the repair shop and it sat there for months.
BASICALLY, Verizon phones are uniquely equipped with a block that prevent legitimate purchasers of various types from being able to use their devices as they hold everyone hostage with their network locking.
It looks like I can't root the device either because of the oem unlock option not being present and the workaround of changing the date not presenting the option.
At this point I'm looking to root the device so I can inspect the OS

Hello I came across your thread because I am having the same issue. I think mine is similar because thus phone was a replacement through asurion/verizon. It also says its unlocked when verszon looks and when asurion looks, but I do not have service for more than 10 secind with my new AT&T Sim. Have you found anything new?.
I also looked into rooting the phone but I don't plan to keep this phone and if I want to do the trade in process and they see the root on the back end I will not receive the trade in money.

If Verizon says the phone is unlocked, make sure to Flash the U package with Verizon bloat. Connect phone to Wifi and the unlock should happen. They only seem to unlock when on the Verizon bloat U package. Anything other than that and the phone stays locked. Once it unlocks you can flash back to whatever you want.
