[Q] Wifi Issues - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After installing any rom, my wifi is transferring data very slowly. I check the region code for the wifi and it says europe. So i try to change it to United States and i shows my router but doesn't allow me to connect to it. Also usually under my router name is says (wep, or wpa) what kind of security it is and it doesn't show anything underneath of it. When it randomly connects it goes at 2kb per second. i have 30mbs internet. it has been happening on every rom i install, can some please help me. Thank you.

Happened to me a few times with my old Nook Color. What I did back on ICS to fix the problem was remove the network from my remembered networks on the tablet and remove it from the router as well. When I reconnected, it was as good as new. Hope this helps.

I have forgotten my router name numerous times. It has connected now but is extremely slow. I have a fast internet provider there is no reason my tablet should be this slow. When i got to disconnect and reconnect it doesn't want to connect to my router.

Currently on stock ROM, not rooted. My wifi seems to stop connecting intermittently. The Network appears to be present when checking but it won't connect to it for 5 minutes at a time. The wifi sleep policy is also set to never

try to remove the battery for a few minutes...if it doesn't work try to access another wifi because your router might be the problem.
nope....
battery pull definitely didnt help. I went ahead and adjusted my network router for dual band to see if that helps at all
Also have WiFi issues
I run into that as well. It says I am connected, even gives me an IP, but all my data still seems to go over the cellular network..
Very frustrating at home.

You can use Juice Defender to automatically disconnect data when you're on WiFi... I've been using it for months and it has worked flawlessly. You can also go into Menu... Settings... Wireless and network....Mobile networks... and manually uncheck "Use packet data" (this is what allows mobile data to connect).
I had these problems also I talk to one of the geek squad guys at best buy he told me that samsung products have problems with some routers because samsung products like to keep the same ip address which my conflict with other wifi products. So I bought a new router that was stronger and assigned my phone an ip address and that solve my problem.

WiFi problem

I've noticed WiFi problem in my moto g 2015.
My home WiFi is not connecting, it reacts like gone through infinite loop. My home WiFi is having WPA2 protected access.
Every else's WiFi is connecting to my phone.
Please help.
It would help if we had much more details. A link to a video would be perfect. Does this happen with any other Wi-Fi networks?

Did you manage to resolve your wifi problem?
I bought the Moto G (2015) 2GB RAM / 16GB ROM for my wife and she's having problems with the home wifi. It often says there is a "connection error" and loops to try to connect again and then fails. Her work wifi seems to function ok.
Having read about similar problems with older moto gs, people recommended (1) turning on and off airplane mode. (2) changing channel number of router.
Both sometimes work and sometimes don't. But it's not really a permanent solution. I'm a bit reluctant to do a factory reset and reinstall everything if it won't resolve the problem. The device came with the latest firmware already installed (5.1.1) and I haven't rooted or unlocked bootloader so should be a pretty clean install.
Anyway, would like to hear that factory reseting could resolve this issue or not before trying.
Thanks for any advice!
Mine does it every now and then. I just unplug my router, wait a minute, plug it back in, and then it connects.

Yes. It works for me too. But what happens if you're on a public or work wifi where you can't reset the router? It doesn't really seem like a long term solution.
Is this a standard problem with this phone? Anyone else have a similar problem or preferably a solution?
Cheers

Yeah resetting other than home router is not the answer. It's an Android issue as all my phones do it from time to time. I haven't been able to figure it out. The other "fix" if you can't reset the router is try going into the Wi-Fi settings, and forget the network/name, and then add it back as new. It takes longer, but it could work for you. That's how I get around it when connecting to work when it won't auto connect.
Hi, I had also faced the same problem with a open wifi network which is free for 15 mins ..
Other than that one ..i had every router connected to my phone..
I was thinking the problem is not in your phone.. It's in router which might be old
Because old routers will have 802 a or something which are in compatible to some phones..
Or the router is not allowing your phone to get connected.. As your phone is latest and it has advanced protocols inscribed in it..
Do one thing.. Shed some light on this now :
1) router model (if known to you)
2) phone models which got connected to that router and it's operating system version (like 5.1.1)
And there is also one more point.. I found our phone might find problems connecting to 5ghz band router ..while it works fine for smaller routers like 2.4ghz
We can decide when you dig some info about the questions I mentioned...
We will get answers
Just turn off wifi and then turn it on it will fix the problem

You would think it would be that simple, but it's not. It just sits there "Connecting", then nothing, then "Connecting". Keeps cycling like that.

My router is a netgear CG3100Dv3 (using WPA2-PSK [AES] encryption) and uses 2.4 GHz. I don't think it's the router's fault though because I've had many friends connect with a variety of phones and none of them have had the problem before. I currently have a Oneplus One (android 5.0.2) and have used a Nexus 4 and Samsung Galaxy S (1) on this router without problems. Maybe it's a problem with android 5.1.1 as I guess not many of my friends have it yet. I've written to motorola support but they still havent got back to me.

Strange. I've never had a problem before with wifi. Maybe I've been lucky until now. Yep - have tried forgetting and reconnecting to wifi signal. Again, a temporary solution that will quickly become irritating when there shouldn't really be a problem for such a simple operation.

It's a temporary solution but a pain in the arse if you have to reset the router every few hours. And as I said before, what happens when you can't connect to a router which you can't reset? (i.e. public, work)
Change the router's channel, then refresh the wifi in the phone.

Firstly i agree that our Moto G has some kind of issue with some routers.. but there will be solutions for them from the ROUTERS POINT OF SIDE to make it work
i have read about your router .. Things i suggest (if you have already done them then let me know )
1) your router has option to change MODE to get speeds more than 150mbps.. try changing that 802.11 MODE , restart your Phone and Router and also keep CHANNEL to AUTO , try changing the security WPA to others also..
2) your Wifi of your phone will have a MAC address , copy that and paste in your Router to allow this device..
i am still finding info on your problem..
the reason why i think your Router can solve the problem is : i had once read about 802.11 b/g/n/ac types.. i am getting a doubt that they are the ones causing the problem.. if you are aware of it
have a look at this bro once : http://www.smartmobilephonesolutions.com/content/cant-connect-to-wifi-on-android-smartphone
in this he said that Wifi fix apps can solve the easy problems..:highfive: , hope you find solution

Hmm. That doesn't sound promising. Will they sort it out with the next firmware update? Are motorola even aware there is this problem?

Ok. Will change channel to auto mode. It was already on "up to 300 Mbps". Will also put MAC addresss in the router.
However this still relies on having access to the router. What happens when you don't have access. If this is going to happen on many routers then I prefer to return the phone and buy one which never has this problem.

I'll give a wifi fix app a go to. But they just seem to automatically delete known wifi SSIDs and passwords.
Another option would be to root and install new ROM and radio, but would prefer not to.
It seems like a lot of Nexus 5 users on 5.1.1 are having wifi problems too:

Anyway, thanks for you advice!
Just a quick update if there is anyone else reading this thread with a similar problem.
I changed the channel mode to auto and that has seemed to fix the problem. The moto g seems to connect without problems now. I didn't enter the MAC address nor used a "wifi fix" app so far.
Fingers crossed...
I have the same problem. Wifi just stops working and had a ! Symbol beside the wifi icon. I have probably had a 100 phones and devices connected to this router without a problem. I have changed a bunch of settings the router and it didn't help.
Disabling wifi off then on works, but that is no solution. I will try anther Rom or kernel. I am on resurrection 5.1.1

My problem was slightly different in that the phone wouldn't even connect to the wifi signal. It would cycle continuously between "connecting" and "authentication error".
Does it work with other routers?

Thanks for your help! I'm still a little wary that the phone will have problems in the future on other routers, but it's a good enough fix for now. Hopefully a later firmware update will sort it out.
Unfortunately, my wife took the moto g on a business trip last week and could not connect to any wifi signals (her colleagues did not have a problem).
Not sure what to do now. I'm in contact with motorola support but they don't have any suggestions yet (apart from blaming the router - which has never had a problem with any other devices!)

wifi permanently "internet may not be available"....even though connection is fine!

wifi permanently "internet may not be available"....even though connection is fine!
I have an irritating problem with the wifi on my s8+. conecting to my router at home, on both the 2.4 and 5ghz networks I constantly have the exclamation mark and an indication that "internet may not be available" despite the connection being perfectly good and with a full signal. It happens constantly, every single time I am connected to it.
Since it DOES work, it isn't a massive problem, except that if at any point something wasn't actually working correctly and internet really wasn't available, I would have no way of seeing that since the warning is permanently on.
It was not doing this when I first got it, so I can only assume one of their patches has introduced this.
Try going back to default themes... Sounds strange but that may fix it
I had this problem, one of the solution that worked for me is to enable "Allow or deny Wifi Roaming scans" in Developer Options
What kind of router do you have? I always get this at my friend's house when I'm on their router. No where else do I have this issue.
It's an Asus AC68U with Merlin firmware. I don't get it in other places but I can't think why my router would be any different.

Sounds like a local ip conflict or something else on your router side not a problem on the phone side. Did you follow the basic rule and restart the wifi router?

So the phone works fine on your home wifi? It could still be the router. At my business if it has not been restarted in a while, new devices will not connect as too many ip have been given out since last restart so no more will be able to connect.

That does nothing as the router has an IP stored for that Mac address currently. It's not renewing it's lease, the router just sees it as the phone has disconnected and reconnected like it does every day you go in. If the phone cant connect to any wifi then it's a hardware issue. Otherwise it is more than likely a network issue with the router.

Sooo, I had a similar problem on Wednesday when I got my phone. During setup it wouldn't connect to my WAP (DHCP). No matter what I did on the phone it wouldn't connect. I went into my networking equipment settings (Cisco everything) and reserved it an IP. Worked. Thing is, sometimes I open an app that requires Internet, and it just spins. Or music won't start playing, whatever. I turn off then back on my WiFi and it's fine. I'm going to reboot my networking gear tonight and un-reserve the IP, see what happens. I REALLY hope this isn't a hardware issue on my phone. I'll be pissed if I already have to get a replacement.
Also, restarting the phone doesn't fix my issue with no Internet, only turning off then back on the WiFi. Might be something worth trying.

Oh yes I tried that too
I spent 20 minutes with a Google tech and nothing worked
The WIFI performance on P3 and XL is not good. My old ass S5 outperforms both by a large margin on 2.4 and 5. My home router is high performance Turris Omnia. The pixels sometimes drop wifi completely in the bedroom 20 ft away (with horsehair plaster walls). In the driveway the S5 and Nexus 10 have solid connections and I get nothing from the P3 XL. This issue might be the last straw. WTF Google?
Check your WIFI connections before return window expires.

My work it department enacted a rule whereas they want to know every device that is on the network so I have to submit a network address request and give them my Mac address so they can allow my device access to the wifi network again. Maybe your work it ppl are doing the same thing. Maybe work devices are allowed by default.
Also my p2xl wifi reception is weak... I'm about to get a wifi mean network setup so I can get better coverage throughout my house.
My phone seems to be working better the last couple days. I had some problems yesterday, but it ended up just being YouTube Music. Also, my network speeds are great. Even when I was having problems a lot, my link and Internet speeds were up at the top of what my gear offers.
To anyone having, or has had problems, submit feedback on it from your phone. Maybe Google will see it and do something about it. I'm really hoping for a lot of fixes in the November update.
My IT department solved my issue by resetting the system.

Help me please oh great developers. Someone is attacking my internet

So here is the story. I have horrible neighbors. They have a really mean dog that kills my cats and all they do is yell at me and I don't know why. But now they have stolen my internet. They are attached to my router somehow. Nothing I do too block their devices works. I've reset the network 3 times, powercycled the router, they have now blocked me and all my devices from my internet. I just unplugged the Ethernet cord and the power supply. How can I get my internet back and really screw them over in the process? Isn't it enough that they already killed all my kitties
I think they used a RAT in my system
They are still there. I guess I give up. I can't get them out, I hope they love their new free gigabit internet
talk with your internet provider, or just disconnect ur router.. and im sorry for your kittens.
edit: idk try formatting ur disk and re-installing windows. or reset the router
Thank you. I appreciate your help. I have done all that yet every time I turn on the router they are there. All these devices I don't even own. I don't know what to do. ISP is looking into it they say but who knows. In the mean time I have received emails from different services I have that keep saying someone from different IP is trying to change passwords and such but I guess whatever. I'm lost and I tried net cat reverse shell but they aren't using Linux I guess, I tried connecting to router manually with WiFi off but the moment WiFi is back so are they. It feels hopeless they just steal all my info. I'm sure they will have my bank account soon enough. I have access to it and use frozen but if they log in as me what can I do?
First of all, disconnect the devices which you suspect have been infected with the virus from the internet.
If you also suspect the home wireless router, factory reset the router, modify the router's password, and then update its firmware to the latest version.
And then, connect the devices to internet and scan for viruses one by one.
