Help me please oh great developers. Someone is attacking my internet - General Questions and Answers

So here is the story. I have horrible neighbors. They have a really mean dog that kills my cats and all they do is yell at me and I don't know why. But now they have stolen my internet. They are attached to my router somehow. Nothing I do too block their devices works. I've reset the network 3 times, powercycled the router, they have now blocked me and all my devices from my internet. I just unplugged the Ethernet cord and the power supply. How can I get my internet back and really screw them over in the process? Isn't it enough that they already killed all my kitties

I think they used a RAT in my system

They are still there. I guess I give up. I can't get them out, I hope they love their new free gigabit internet

talk with your internet provider, or just disconnect ur router.. and im sorry for your kittens.
edit: idk try formatting ur disk and re-installing windows. or reset the router

Thank you. I appreciate your help. I have done all that yet every time I turn on the router they are there. All these devices I don't even own. I don't know what to do. ISP is looking into it they say but who knows. In the mean time I have received emails from different services I have that keep saying someone from different IP is trying to change passwords and such but I guess whatever. I'm lost and I tried net cat reverse shell but they aren't using Linux I guess, I tried connecting to router manually with WiFi off but the moment WiFi is back so are they. It feels hopeless they just steal all my info. I'm sure they will have my bank account soon enough. I have access to it and use frozen but if they log in as me what can I do?

First of all, disconnect the devices which you suspect have been infected with the virus from the internet.
If you also suspect the home wireless router, factory reset the router, modify the router's password, and then update its firmware to the latest version.
And then, connect the devices to internet and scan for viruses one by one.

So you can connect your phone to a wireless connection, it just doesn't download anything? In that case, have you checked the same wireless connection with another device?

Yes and Yes....im seriously stumped !
the only thing i can think is that theres some sort of wifi radio issue on my phone , but id have thought that would manifest by not connecting to the network rather than not pulling in data .
ive factory reset phone a couple of times and reset my router, no issues on other devices
think ill go back to the store for exchange as im not really prepared and shouldnt have to piss around with a brand new device
its a weird one
Have you tried changing the channel of your router? Try a lower number, like 11. Or temporarily removing any encryption and/or changing encryption type?
Did u try resetting your router? I had the same problem last night. Taught it was my phone. Ended up being my router. Go figure ;-p

Tried that....now at work and connects fine to the network, deffo must be an issue with my home network
Problem for me is that networks and the like aren't really my bag , ive had a look at the admin page on the router and can see its connected and theres nothing immediatly obvious that i could say "that looks suspect"
so im not sure what the answer is
all my other devices mac, pc ipod/phone and previous htc work well and have never had an issue
getting on my tits a little
ill have another fiddle later and see what i can do
cheers for the comments tho
otherwise, i do like the form factor of the phone and ill even give sense a good go befor i probably switch over to ADW or maybe launcherpro
Solved!
Set up static IP address on phone ..... Worked like a charm
I find the same, except I think it has to do with encryption. I have tried with wep and wpa and I get an IP address but cannot browse. On unsecured it works just fine.
Like you found a static IP works, but I think it is the static DNS that is actually the issue here.
This is a cumbersome workaround if you use wifi all over the place, so I downloaded Static Wifi which says it will store settings per connection.
The only issue with this is that I think the device has to be rooted for this to work
Have you tried using the opendns settings
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
wifi reconnect
Hi all
Perhaps we all have the same issue
I have the HTC Sensation with almost 2 weeks now and i am having one continuous issue.
I have wifi set up at home the phone connects ok,however i also have a TV/Video sender, when i need to use the TV/Video sender i have to turn off the wifi(not ideal). The problem occurs when i turn off the TV/Video sender and turn the wifi back on,the phone will connect with the modem but not to the internet,Facebook,Twitter, emails will not sync, while testing i have discovered that if i "kill" facebook and Twitter and restart the apps all is ok again i.e facebook,Twitter and emails all sync.
Does anybody have an idea what is causing this ?

I seem to have managed to resolve this by setting the security to wpa2 and i also altered the dhcp scope to force a new range of ip addtrsses higher up. Since I did that I've had no problems.

[Q] Wifi issues on my GF phone, could use some help please!

Heres the story. My girlfriends wireless has stopped working recently. Doing some reading I found out that there is the hardware isue but she doesnt have the International version, has ATT, completely stock. I didnt have a whole lot of time to diagnose and im not familiar with this phone, have an S3 myself. What I did do was check the signal and it did say excellent and connected. If this was the hardware issue it wouldnt make sense to have any connection at all without the antenna working would it? What it does do is just sits and tries to load webpages like there is no connection while my phone sitting right next to her was just fine so shouldnt be some kind of router isue.I hate asking for noobish help and usually dont have to on the phones I own but I dont have a lot of access to hers and have done some searching with no real answers. If any of you could be kind enough to point me in a direction to figure out if this is hardware or software related and maybe some fixes I would really appreciate it! In the meantime, back to searching.
If you go into WiFi settings, does it actually show the name of the right access point and "connected"? Sometimes you can be associated with an access point but not authenticated, and so you won't get an IP. Perhaps from entering the password incorrectly. Try "forgetting" your router and re-associate.
What's her software number and have u tried a factory reset
Thanks guys. I will try to forget and redo her connection. I did forget to say that this is suddenly happening on the 3 connections she uses almost everyday so not sure if that tells you anything. I do not know her revision number but will get it and no I haven't tried a factory reset either, I was hoping to not have to go that route as I'm sure nothing is backed up at this point and she is pretty phone illiterate, this is her first smartphone and she will freak if things aren't where she put them lol but may have to bite the bullet and do it.
Mess around with it a bit, I really don't think it should come down to a factory reset. If all else fails you can also try rebooting the router. Try connecting to another AP. If for some reason you can't connect to ANY WiFi, then maybe factory reset it is.

Well like he said the other phone is fine on the same router. I don't think the router is the issue here
Your router doesn't have MAC address filtering on it does it? I know the latest ROMs have changed the MAC address of the devices. Try that maybe?
What happens when you toggle airplane mode on and off?

(Solved) authentication error

I found a solution to my problem with "authentication error", and I don't think it's specific to my phone and my router and I hope it helps others having the same issue.
I have a galaxy s3 on Verizon and a netgear wnr2000v2 router. First 2 months with this phone and router connecting to wifi no problem then one day I lose signal on all of my devices and when I tried to connect I got the auth. Error. Incorrect password.I'll try to keep this brief and simple.
Here's what finally worked for me.
I did factory resets on all the devices including router. To factory reset router push reset button with a pen or paper clip etc. I don't know if it was really necessary to do that but it's nice to start fresh especially if I've been getting tangled up all turned around when I'm changing settings I know nothing about. After the reset and the fresh start I went to the netgear login page and setup the router using the wizard but I did not create a new username/password. I left it as the default but while I was moving around the site I noticed something that I had no idea what it was but it showed my "pass phrase". I had read on many other sites that password is not the same as passphrase so I didn't think much of it at that time but after getting the router all set up again and still not being able to connect I finally tried to log on using my "passphrase" instead of my"password" and it effing worked! I felt like a total idiot but I really just had it in my head that the two pass codes were NOT the same. I hope this helps someone else.

[Q] Multiple IP addresses showing

Hi all,
Odd query, I had a problem with updating CM12 and ended up completely reformatting it.
After having done so I am all up and running, I set the phone up how I was before, however when I checked my router for something else I noticed my phone is connected 7 times on different IP addresses, all with the same MAC address (these are live IP's), if I turn the phone off they show as disconnected and they all reconnect when the phone goes back on.
Is this how 5ghz wifi works or has something changed in the way phones connect to wifi that I have missed? I can't figure out what each of the IP's is doing.
I don't have any unknown apps on my phone at present except googles, tasker, greenify and HD widgets oh and AVG as I thought I may for some reason have a virus, but that comes back clean.
What am I missing, apart from a brain cell? Advanced search only showed people asking if multiple IP addresses was possible, so maybe CM has figured it out!!

Can you actually ping every one of those IP addresses?
Turn off your wifi, clear dhcp pool on your router, reboot router - see if that works

Removing a strange IP address, how..

Nexus 5 android 5.1.1. I noticed it a while back and thought flashing the newest factory image would take care of it but it didn't. I'm assuming there is a block on it of some sort, I have no idea how it got on here. Haven't gotten into writing code but I think I should. This is troublesome and any help will be much appreciated. I'll include a screen shot also. Thanks
That IP address came from the last access point you connected to. Try forgetting all networks in the WiFi settings and try connecting to your AP again.
BTW, it appears you are having connection problems.

No connection problems at all and done that forgetting the connections but that never goes away.. Guess it's time to study and see if I can't figure it out as usual. Thanks for the response though.
