I've noticed that the profile for my home wifi network keeps getting disabled. Usually, I'll leave for a bit, then come back and about half the time it never reconnects. When I go into the wifi list, it's marked as disabled. I enable it and it works fine from that point unless I leave again. It's my understanding a profile will get disabled when it cannot connect to a network for some reason, but clearly it can. My G2 and SGS never have this problem. Is this a setting somewhere? Thanks...
I am having this same issue. I dont know how to fix it
This is more serious than I realized! I just got disconnected randomly even while staying in perfect coverage. Not only does it disconnect, but it DISABLES the connection and won't reconnect again unless I manually tell it to. I rely 100% on WiFi calling while home and now I'm missing all kinds of calls and texts because WiFi is disconnected...
I'm hoping this is just is a software issue that can be resolved pretty quickly, officially or unofficially...
This phone has like 10 legit problems already. Tmobile needs to hurry up with the updates or the refunds will kill them.
It might help if you talk about the router you're using. I have a Netgear N600 and haven't had any Wi-Fi issues either connecting, staying connected, or automatically reconnecting. Bluetooth on the other hand...

It's a Linksys WRT610N. Very modern and very stable router. There's no reason this phone should have any problem with it. I literally have a G2 and SGS sitting side-by-side with the G2x and only the G2x has this problem. The SGS is Froyo and the G2 is Gingerbread. I also have a slew of other wireless (on both 2.4ghz and 5.8ghz bands) and wired clients connected that all have zero issues. I don't know why it would work on one router and not the next...

Yes. And you're right, the phone is very temperamental across a number of areas.
Did you set up your wifi to never go to sleep? Cause if you havent - it disconnects every time you turn off the screen.
In order to do that, go to Settings=>Wireless & Networks=>Wi-Fi Settings=> click on the "menu" button on your phone=> Advanced=> Wi-Fi sleep policy=> and choose Never.
I did that, and my wifi calling is flawless ... and I rely on it pretty much all the time that I am at home (thanks for that stupid t-mobile signal)
I have the same issue and the setting I have by default to Never go to sleep... Also, has nothing to do with router as any of my other phones have this issue including Nexus One.
Did by any chance any of you with this issue restore some Titanium Back-ups? Because when I restored mine from a back-up of my 1st G2x (exchanged) I also restored the previous wi-fi settings and after that the wi-fi wouldn't work correctly. I did a factory reset and it fixed the problem.
Edit: If all else fails, then try a factory reset. I know it sucks, but it could fix everything.

I'm having issues with this as well. Wifi set to never sleep, I haven't restored any apps. I constantly lose connection. I've tried the factory reset thing etc. and it doesn't help.
I can connect to my wireless g Linksys access point but not my airport extreme ... my Linksys is open my ape is not(I realize I wrote ape LOL)

WiFi seems to be losing dns services
I have the same WiFi problems and while a factory reset clears the problem
temporarily and changing the WiFi sleep setting to never is an immense help
once it's gone off-line I can't get it to come back.
I have noticed that if it has a cached dns lookup to an ip address that that
ip address is still accessible. So if you can get OTA data live, look up google.
Switch to wifi, google is still accessible and you can do queries but you can't
click through on the links because the dns lookup fails.
I've fiddled with killing myaccount, suggested elsewhere, without success.
Unless there is some robust configuration change that pops up soon I suppose
I'll have to return it...

Did you also uninstall market updates and freeze the market updater?
It got mine working again without any problems. Sucks that this has to be done to get wifi to work properly.
I've frozen MyAccount and WiFi calling and it's working at the moment.
Truely I was a little tired and forgot about the market updates until I got
back here.
Insane that one has to do something like this for such a basic feature.
I mean who is going to use the OTA networking when wifi is available?
Let alone the cost issues. I went from 880kbps to 10100kbps going from
OTA to wifi.
This device must have rushed out the door.
Useless at any speed
So I've uninstalled the updates to and FROZEN:
My Account
Market Updater
WiFi Calling
AppPack
and the phone is still trippy. I've discovered also (via the engineering menu)
that the networking ping test fails - "network unreachable". The wifi
data looks good but it doesn't show the current gateway or dns configuration
information.
I'm at a loss for what to try next. Anyone got any suggestions?
Is there something like a netstat android app?
I am having the SAME issue as well as the OP..... =/
wifi recovery
Too soon to say that this is a consistent work-around but I'm
having some short term luck with
rebooting the phone (remove battery) in Airplane mode
enabling wifi
turning airplane mode off
Not sure if the battery pop is necessary. I suspect it's not.
I also suspect that freezing/deinstalling the various updates
is pointless.
Probably the whole work-around is to change the
Wi-Fi sleep policy to never:
settings->wireless & network settings->Wi-Fi settings->advanced
and use the airplane/wifi enable reboot sequence.
If someone has a permanent work-around based on precise setup
sequence and freezing applications I'd like to hear it - I think I've
followed the several posts on this topic and that path is unreliable but
it never hurts to be wrong.

Mine does this and I never restored any system data. I only restored apps.
Strange.
I use WiFi calling at work with no problems. It is a Netgear router. I haven't had problems at home with my Linksys router either.
Hi anyone with previous experience on vodafone

So you can connect your phone to a wireless connection, it just doesn't download anything? In that case, have you checked the same wireless connection with another device?

Yes and Yes....im seriously stumped !
the only thing i can think is that theres some sort of wifi radio issue on my phone , but id have thought that would manifest by not connecting to the network rather than not pulling in data .
ive factory reset phone a couple of times and reset my router, no issues on other devices
think ill go back to the store for exchange as im not really prepared and shouldnt have to piss around with a brand new device
its a weird one
Have you tried changing the channel of your router? Try a lower number, like 11. Or temporarily removing any encryption and/or changing encryption type?
Did u try resetting your router? I had the same problem last night. Taught it was my phone. Ended up being my router. Go figure ;-p

Tried that....now at work and connects fine to the network, deffo must be an issue with my home network
Problem for me is that networks and the like aren't really my bag , ive had a look at the admin page on the router and can see its connected and theres nothing immediatly obvious that i could say "that looks suspect"
so im not sure what the answer is
all my other devices mac, pc ipod/phone and previous htc work well and have never had an issue
getting on my tits a little
ill have another fiddle later and see what i can do
cheers for the comments tho
otherwise, i do like the form factor of the phone and ill even give sense a good go befor i probably switch over to ADW or maybe launcherpro
Solved!
Set up static IP address on phone ..... Worked like a charm
I find the same, except I think it has to do with encryption. I have tried with wep and wpa and I get an IP address but cannot browse. On unsecured it works just fine.
Like you found a static IP works, but I think it is the static DNS that is actually the issue here.
This is a cumbersome workaround if you use wifi all over the place, so I downloaded Static Wifi which says it will store settings per connection.
The only issue with this is that I think the device has to be rooted for this to work
Have you tried using the opendns settings
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
wifi reconnect
Hi all
Perhaps we all have the same issue
I have the HTC Sensation with almost 2 weeks now and i am having one continuous issue.
I have wifi set up at home the phone connects ok,however i also have a TV/Video sender, when i need to use the TV/Video sender i have to turn off the wifi(not ideal). The problem occurs when i turn off the TV/Video sender and turn the wifi back on,the phone will connect with the modem but not to the internet,Facebook,Twitter, emails will not sync, while testing i have discovered that if i "kill" facebook and Twitter and restart the apps all is ok again i.e facebook,Twitter and emails all sync.
Does anybody have an idea what is causing this ?
Rgds
Clinton
I seem to have managed to resolve this by setting the security to wpa2 and i also altered the dhcp scope to force a new range of ip addtrsses higher up. Since I did that I've had no problems.
Hi there,
I am having an issue with my MK808B connecting to my home network. I can connect fine to numerous other hotspots (samsung galaxy nexus, ipad, mifi, etc), but for some reason it just does not want to connect to my home network.
My router is a Cradlepoint MBR-1000, and I am tethering it to a Pantech UM270 Modem for Verizon LTE internet. I can connect fine to this network on several other devices, including the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
The MK808B shows strong signal, but every time I hit "Connect", it will say connecting for a few seconds and then just revert to saying "Saved, Secured" but without any connection being made. I have of course tried all the normal stuff about rebooting routers, etc. I have tried "Forgetting" the network several times and re-connecting - no luck. I tried setting a static IP address to my home computers thinking there might be an IP conflict issue, but that doesn't seem to be it. I also tried taking off all security on the network, but it still does the same thing.
Some of the other forums I have looked at suggest going to some "Advanced" wifi settings on android, but the MK808b doesn't seem to have that option that I can find.
I looked into my router settings and I do not have any unusual permission settings that I can tell - i.e. no "MAC address filtering" or "Access Control" enabled.
Admittedly I am no network expert, and it seems like there must be some simple issue that I am overlooking.
Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks!

Stupid answer, but have you rebooted the stick? I've seen that happen on multiple Android devices randomly, and a reboot always fixes it. You can also forget the network and try reconnecting and retyping your password. Either/both of those should fix.

Yup, tried both of those ideas. Thanks for trying to help, though!
Hello everybody, this is my first post here but I have been reading the ViperS threads in the development forum since version 2. Awesome rom, I really like it.
However, I have encountered an issue with ViperS 5.1.0 . I would like someone else confirm if this is happening on his sensation too (with ViperS 5.1.0), because its a very annoying bug, and a potential security flaw.
A few days ago I installed ViperS 5.1.0 (from full wipe and no restoring of backups, clean install), and shortly afterwards I noticed that my home computers in my LAN (ethernet and wifi), where having some kind of little micro-cuts in communication with the internet, especially noticeable with google and youtube autocomplete feature and things like that. The communication completely stops for a few seconds, then resumes and works perfectly until a couple of minutes (sometimes less), and it happens again.
I checked my network with a packet sniffer, and found the culprit to be the Sensation. This is what happens:
I have wifi set to always active on the phone and, when the phone is left suspended with screen off, after a little while it begins to send bogus ARP protocol broadcast packets announcing that it has a random (and incorrect) IP associated to his wlan mac. It repeats it again with several other random IPs over time, and sometimes it also says via ARP that it has the same IP as my home router. In that case, it causes all computers and devices on the network, to try to access the internet via the Sensation's wlan card mac, which obviously fails, causing the micro-cuts. After a few seconds, the router sends the correct ARP information and the computers can access the internet again. This is very similar to an ARP spoof attack, but I can't see why the phone is doing it.
It's only happening with ViperS 5.1.0. I have tried disabling ad away and also tried to connect with a fixed IP instead of DHCP, but it keeps happening.
I have attached a screenshot to show the problem.
PD: On other subject, the wifi is buggy when changing access points in the same WLAN (I have 2 APs at home), it turns off, activates mobile data, and then turns wifi on again, taking a long while to do it. In ViperS 3, it just went from one access point to the other without disconnecting. This is a secondary thing, I can live with it, but I thought I should say it just in case it's a easy thing to solve for the devs.
Thanks for your time! I really appreciate your work. :good:
I have been trying to do a packet capture in the phone, and tried to find something in the logs, but I can't see anything. Could this be related to the wifi drivers? Since ARP protocol is in link layer, I can't think of anything else.
Also the other day I connected to a wifi network in other place, and it completely crashed the router, no one else could connect.
@ivicask , I would really appreciate it if you can have a look at this. Because of it, at the moment I'm using mobile data only even at home, and I'm going to use it up pretty quickly
Thanks in advance :good:

I have been using ViperS for a while, and I it certainly isn't ARP poisoning the network.
Try setting a static IP (set it to that alloted by your DHCP) and see if the issue persists.
Happy to help.

That's the first thing I tried, it didn't help.
I have googled it and seems there are some problems with the ARP offload feature in the wifi chip drivers, and several phones have suffered it, the nexus 4 and some HTC devices. A lot of people have reported it in the google code forums.
The thing is that it didn't happen to me in previous ViperS 5.0.0, so something must have been changed in the rom that it's causing it. Do you know where I could look? Maybe it's just something wrong in a config file and can be easily solved.

While I may not know I shall still try to help once I am home I will quote your post into the correct ROM thread to see if the devs/power users of this ROM can help out
Sent from my HTC Sensation using Tapatalk
ok im posting it now, can you get a logcat to supply to the devs please?
Yes i saw this, but as only person with this problem, i didint investigate. There can be many reasons this is happening to you, but most likely its problem in your own network/routers. My suggestion is first try updating your routers firmware, if there isnt new firmware, just try resting them to factory default and re configure them. I have actual experience with this, my DIR-655 couldn't connect in wifi N mode until i reseted it.
Also HTC ONE users had problems with Dir -655 where it would reboot if HTC one would connect to it (Firmware issue).
Also from your pics i see "duplicate use of 192.168.1.1", are you running 2 routers on same network with same ip address??Than this is the reason of your problems, you cant have 2 devices with same IP in same network, even worse will happen if those 2 devices are actual routers, or even worse if both of them are running DHCP.So re-check your network, make sure only 1 DHCP is running, and there are no devices with same fixed IP address.
Also here are to 2 tests for phone with different wifi supplicant versions, try them ONLY after you make sure your network is fine.

EDIT:About wifi switching, same thing happens on my ONEX+ ...

Thanks for your answer. The "duplicate use of 192.168.1.1" is exactly the problem, I know that (I am a telecomms tech, I know how this works )
The matter is that the device that is claiming to have the same IP as the router... is the Sensation! See the "source" column in the pic.
I have only one router. Everything is properly configured in the network, the issue only appears when the sensation is connected to wifi AND with screen off. Then it starts sending the false random ARP packets.
Apart from the "router impostor" packets, there is also the problem that over time the other random packets will fill up the ARP tables in the router memory, causing it to hang, although this hasnĀ“t yet happened to me.
In the threads I saw in the google code forums, people reported the same thing for the nexus 4 and several newer HTC devices with the same broadcom chip, (which also caused notification delays) and said that it disappears when disabling "wifi optimization" (with the rise in battery drain that it implies) , which looks like a bug somewhere in the wifi drivers. Unfortunately, disabling that option does not change anything for me.
This has started happening in 5.1.0. Never had such a problem before.
Thanks for the files, I will try them and report results.
Except for this and a weird bug with h/w accelerated videos screen corruption when free memory less than ~90 mb, the ROM is absolutely awesome :good: . It feels much faster and lighter than previous versions. You devs are doing a very good job :good:. HTC should hire you!
OK, problem solved. The test2 file solved it.
With test 1, it stopped sending random IPs in the ARP packets, but instead claimed to have 0.0.0.0 always, and not the correct IP. Also, it couldn't see channel 13 which I'm using on one of my access points (probably region was set to USA in this file).
With test 2, the ARP packets report the correct assigned IP (via DHCP and fixed), it can see all the wifi channels, and everything works perfect. It also appears to be changing from one AP to the other without disconnecting the wifi. This is the correct way it should work.
Still don't know the need to send the ARP info each 15 seconds , but at least now it's correct and there are no problems.
Thank you very much for your help @ivicask , I have seen that the wpa supplicant in the files you posted has an older date, is it just an older version or have you changed something in them also?
Will you include this fix in the next version of ViperS?
Thanks again :good:
Same for me. Killed my router. Especially if downloading at high speed. My router went upp and down. Now I have on other phone and my senny runs stock. No problems att all.
Flashed Viper to check 3min then router died. (it reboots)
Thanks
I couldnt neither write in the original post. By the way, i have the same problem with my wifi conection.
Now i solved it with Test2.zip. I have european wifi too and my router see fine now.
Thanks a lot for this rom and the help.
I didn't notice any particular issues with my WiFi, but I was having the disconnecting behaviour when switching between APs.
The Test2.zip solved this.
More, I tested the received power with Netgear Wifi Analyzer in an already tested place in my home. After applying the Test2.zip it looks like I gained ~10dBm. Maybe it's just something casual, but I wanted to report.
Last. The wpasupplicant file in the Test2.zip has the same modification time as the one in ViperSC2_3.1.4, so I think it has been taken from there
Good job anyway :good:
So here is the story. I have horrible neighbors. They have a really mean dog that kills my cats and all they do is yell at me and I don't know why. But now they have stolen my internet. They are attached to my router somehow. Nothing I do too block their devices works. I've reset the network 3 times, powercycled the router, they have now blocked me and all my devices from my internet. I just unplugged the Ethernet cord and the power supply. How can I get my internet back and really screw them over in the process? Isn't it enough that they already killed all my kitties
I think they used a RAT in my system
They are still there. I guess I give up. I can't get them out, I hope they love their new free gigabit internet
talk with your internet provider, or just disconnect ur router.. and im sorry for your kittens.
edit: idk try formatting ur disk and re-installing windows. or reset the router
Thank you. I appreciate your help. I have done all that yet every time I turn on the router they are there. All these devices I don't even own. I don't know what to do. ISP is looking into it they say but who knows. In the mean time I have received emails from different services I have that keep saying someone from different IP is trying to change passwords and such but I guess whatever. I'm lost and I tried net cat reverse shell but they aren't using Linux I guess, I tried connecting to router manually with WiFi off but the moment WiFi is back so are they. It feels hopeless they just steal all my info. I'm sure they will have my bank account soon enough. I have access to it and use frozen but if they log in as me what can I do?
First of all, disconnect the devices which you suspect have been infected with the virus from the internet.
If you also suspect the home wireless router, factory reset the router, modify the router's password, and then update its firmware to the latest version.
And then, connect the devices to internet and scan for viruses one by one.
