Hi all, My Moto G unable to vibrate even activate vibration in the phone. I'm not sure is it a hardware problem.
Is there anyway to test it?

Go to /settings/sound/vibrate on touch (at the bottom) and check that and try it out.
If that easy i wouldn't post it at this forum. Any other suggestion?

Well if that does not work its probably a hardware issue, its that easy ☺ Have you tried a data factory reset?

Go to settings - language and input, then click on the settings icon next to the android keyboard option. Check/tick 'vibrate on key press'.
Now type on keyboard, it should vibrate as you type.
The first suggestion you received will make phone vibrate when any soft key is pressed.
So yes , is that easy.

You ask for help. And we give it to you. Why would you then criticize the correct information you received? It just makes us not want to help. If your phone doesn't vibrate, it is a hardware issue and talk to Motorola or whoever you got you phone from for a replacement.

my vibrator just dead. hardware issue. Some times I reboot phone and works (once)
not sure if doing a hard reset will definitely solve the issue, so i'll wait till some confirmation

Well, that's odd. My Moto G doesn't vibrate anymore since yesterday too. It also crashed yesterday with 50% battery (which happened in the past too, but just when I disabled USB debugging while the phone is plugged-in via cable).
Eventually some silent update which broke something?
+1 no more vibration, reeboot still not
*#*#0842#*#* - Device test (Vibration test and BackLight test) // does not work neither
Same here, after I updated from 5.0.1 to 5.1, no more vibrations, even tested with a test vibrate app, still nothing

Run to the store and get it replaced. Hope you've got some warranty left.
That's what I did and -although mine was replaced by a refurb unit- i never had trouble again and all is working great since 1+yr after I replaced it

Guys i am facing a problem..i already searched the whole xda but i didnt find anything..my problem is that my htc cant vibrate anymore...even the htc sence and even when im typing to send a message...at the settings is already set to vibrate all the mods..but nothing works!!any solution please?
did you try a softreset or hardreset? also what rom are you using?
i did soft reset many times...i use stock rom 1,66....!
anyone please??
Do a hard reset. Yes, it'll wipe out all the data and apps but its worth a try. If your phone still don't vibrate, I guess you have a problem with the motor or something.
yeah thats it...
a problem can be caused by a installed program or something else...
after a hardreset, it has to work..if not, you've got a hardware defect.

Check on the back of the phone if your led flash is "pressed in". That could cause the vibrate to stop working.

Same problem here. Flash cover was pushed and stopping the vibration mechanism. openning the back cover and pushing the flash cover so that it flushes with the cover solved the problem. Openning the cover will void your warranty though.

Amazing!!! this worked for me too.
After all this time looking for a software fix...
Good ol' mechanical remedies if an army of vibrating HD2 take over the world, now we know how to stop em
son of a ....
I had the same problem, and found my LED flash to be pushed in after reading this thread.
I opened up the case to correct it. But after putting it back together not only does vibrate not work, but the volume keys, speakers (both earpiece and speakerphone), flash, notification led, and camera all don't work.
I obviously screwed something up, but I have no clue what it could have been. I was very careful. One thing I'll note is that when I pulled the case apart, the volume rocker went flying. When putting the phone back together I got it back into place so that I THOUGHT it should work (it was seated properly and felt "clicky" for up/down movements.
But no luck, all that I listed above is non functional, and what I'm left with is a glorified 3.5 in tablet
Any ideas??
Has anyone else experienced an issue with the sensors(gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, magnetic sensor) not working? The sensors will start working every now and then like once a month, for a couple of days. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

What ROM are you using? Can you exclude that this is a software error?

This problem has persisted on every Rom I have used, from Stock, to TrickDroid, to PACman. When I first installed PACman the problem went away for about a month, I thought it was gone for good. I think its a software error since it starts to work every now and then, but I don't really know.

Hmm interesting. Do you still have warranty ? Its a known One X problem so try the following:
- Calibrate your sensor in the settings (will not solve your problem i think)
- Reboot your phone and hold your Power+Volume Up Button at the same time (WHILE reboot, hold them down). Let it bootloop a few times. 4-5 times should be fine. Then release the power button but still hold down your Volume Up Button. Now let it boot. It works for some users without any real explanation.
Good luck

I don't think I have warranty---I never paid for it when I bought the phone. Yeah calibrating the sensor does nothing for me. I tried the second option but I'm not sure if i'm doing it right. The phone doesn't keep rebooting unless I let go of the power button after it turns off. And thanks for the help so far!

You got 2 years warranty on every HTC phone (in Germany. But it has to be 1-2 years outside too). Me neither,i got it for free from a marketing research program and it was ok to send them a copy of my receipt. Anyways, i will help you tomorrow its late here.

Thanks a lot! If this ends up not working out I guess I could just use the warranty
Try to boot in safe mode and then try to calibrate your sensor via settings. Completly shut down your phone and then push the power button until the screen turns on. When you see the HTC logo, hold down the Vol - button. You now should be in safe mode.

I'm on PAC rom...I don't there is an option to calibrate the sensor, but I tried this while I was on stock and it didn't work.
Normally there has to be an option. Are you sure? Look under Display Settings. Try this out: Sensor Calibrator

There would be an option but there isn't on the custom rom that I'm on. That app is for the Proximity Sensor...my proximity sensor works, what doesn't work is the gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, magnetic sensor, and orientation sensor. I think I'll just have to send it in and use the warranty.
Hmm that really doesnt sounds like a simple software error... Hope you still got warranty

I guess I have HTC warranty cause I haven't had the phone for a year yet, the only problem is that I bought the phone online with T-mobile, I didn't get a receipt, so I don't have a proof of purchase. Thanks for the help!
it's a hardware issue guaranteed

I am sure you got an e-mail from them about your purchase. Or call them and ask if they can send you any proof of purchase. Good luck!
My touchscreen randomly it seems becomes unresponsive. Power button will turn the phone off and on, volume works. Just no touch. I restart the phone and it's fine. I am running touchcontrol perhaps thats it? I turned it off for now, I'm just playing the waiting game. Just wanted to see if anyone else had similar experiences with the N5.

I dont know anything about rooting, Im just curious really. Have you tried a factory reset?
are you using a custom kernel with s2w/dt2w enabled?
if so, that's your culprit. disable it

I'm not sure what kernel I'm using. I know it's as close to stock as possible. I disabled TouchControl and it hasn't had any issues since. I will look into those options you mentioned though as well just in case.
Hi. I just bought this ohone a couple months ago(maybe 2) and yesterday, the phone will not vibrate out of nowhere. I looked at the setting but couldnt find anything wrong.
Anybody there dealing with the same problem?
I might have to sent my phone to htc to fix it.

Try factory reset, and make sure that vibration is on in settings. Double check that in power saver also, you've set vibrations as on if you have power saver turned on. If it still doesn't work, it may be a hardware defect, take to service center!

try to check all the settings. if all is correct, try to shut it down. I shut down mine for almost a night. and the next morning the vibration starts working again for some reasons.
Can u plz tell me all settings means in details?

You mean Android's soft menu? It happens very rarely but indeed I have experienced it. Hidding or switching the keyboard and then bringing it back has always been enough to sort it.

No it is the two buttons sitting next to the fingerprint scanner, "back" and what the oter one is called...
Now and then they stop responding, about once every 2-3 days, i then have to reboot the phone for them to woek again, leading me to think it is something firmware related...
The phone have been acting this way since i bougt it, and remain still with latest firmware update, so it is nothing new to me, just annoying...
The first thing to try would be a factory reset and clearing the system cache.

Ok i will do that, i just had a feeling it was a firmware issue, becource it allways dissapear if rebooted...
- a hardware defect would not be that constant i thought...
After a reboot there allways is at least one day with no problems...

return and get a new one if possible, not worth tinkering with it if it did that out of the box.
you probably can fix it but why would you if its done it since day one? id return and get a new one
if returning isnt an option, you can try and factory reset maybe even wipe cache in erecovery first?
but in all instances id return
I have same problem with my Mate 9 Pro, the keys just vanish and then my screen dont autorotate and the proximity sensor stops working, when i make a call and put the phone to my ear the screen stays on.
I sent my phone to service center and i will see what they say.
