Has anyone else experienced an issue with the sensors(gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, magnetic sensor) not working? The sensors will start working every now and then like once a month, for a couple of days. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

What ROM are you using? Can you exclude that this is a software error?

This problem has persisted on every Rom I have used, from Stock, to TrickDroid, to PACman. When I first installed PACman the problem went away for about a month, I thought it was gone for good. I think its a software error since it starts to work every now and then, but I don't really know.

Hmm interesting. Do you still have warranty ? Its a known One X problem so try the following:
- Calibrate your sensor in the settings (will not solve your problem i think)
- Reboot your phone and hold your Power+Volume Up Button at the same time (WHILE reboot, hold them down). Let it bootloop a few times. 4-5 times should be fine. Then release the power button but still hold down your Volume Up Button. Now let it boot. It works for some users without any real explanation.
Good luck

I don't think I have warranty---I never paid for it when I bought the phone. Yeah calibrating the sensor does nothing for me. I tried the second option but I'm not sure if i'm doing it right. The phone doesn't keep rebooting unless I let go of the power button after it turns off. And thanks for the help so far!

You got 2 years warranty on every HTC phone (in Germany. But it has to be 1-2 years outside too). Me neither,i got it for free from a marketing research program and it was ok to send them a copy of my receipt. Anyways, i will help you tomorrow its late here.

Thanks a lot! If this ends up not working out I guess I could just use the warranty
Try to boot in safe mode and then try to calibrate your sensor via settings. Completly shut down your phone and then push the power button until the screen turns on. When you see the HTC logo, hold down the Vol - button. You now should be in safe mode.

I'm on PAC rom...I don't there is an option to calibrate the sensor, but I tried this while I was on stock and it didn't work.
Normally there has to be an option. Are you sure? Look under Display Settings. Try this out: Sensor Calibrator

There would be an option but there isn't on the custom rom that I'm on. That app is for the Proximity Sensor...my proximity sensor works, what doesn't work is the gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, magnetic sensor, and orientation sensor. I think I'll just have to send it in and use the warranty.
Hmm that really doesnt sounds like a simple software error... Hope you still got warranty

I guess I have HTC warranty cause I haven't had the phone for a year yet, the only problem is that I bought the phone online with T-mobile, I didn't get a receipt, so I don't have a proof of purchase. Thanks for the help!

I'm rooted running Leedroid and a very odd occurrence happened tonight. The volume level started decreasing by itself until it hit vibrate and then the phone just became unresponsive. I pulled the battery and now no matter what I do the phone won't power back on again. if I press power or hold volume down and power, it vibrates 5 times and shows a solid green light, still doesn't turn on. Even if I hook up the USB cable same thing, only exception is that it immediately starts vibrating 5 times without pressing any buttons. I also left it on the charger for a while and swapped out batteries and nothing changes. Has anyone experienced this same issue?. I'm thinking maybe it's a hardware error and possibly bricked.
UPDATE ... I took the SD card out and let it sit for about 30 mins and then it powered up fine. This is very odd indeed. I don't know what could have been the problem.
My wife had this happen to hers after she shut down the phone and it would not boot back up properly. Trying to boot would either give five vibrates and green led or three vibrates and a red led iirc depending on if I tried a normal boot or hboot. Was on irc with attn1 trying a number of different things, as I was able to get adb to recognize the phone when booting into recovery even through the screen was blank, with no success, and finally just had at&t send a replacement.
I did try swapping another sd card but didn't try booting with no card installed so I don't know if that would have helped in my case though I am certainly curious now after reading your post. Wish I could get the phone back to test now. lol
Any solution to this? My phone is stuck like this now.

I had one go this route too. I think its a corrupt boot partition (or some other critical partition in the built-in flash ROM). I could not get it to boot to anything usable at all. I ended up filing a warranty claim and got a new one. Hopefully your's is still covered, or you have insurance, otherwise, your best bet is send it back to HTC for repair. They are actually pretty reasonable from what I hear, but you'll be without a phone for awhile.
I did a rma straight from HTC since I didn't have the insurance from at&t on it. They said it was the motherboard that died and replaced it.

it sounds like something is going on with you data partition and sd card format. i recomend booting in to clockwork mod recovery and wiping all data and cache partitions as well as dalvik and then re-installing the ROM of your choice. id also recomend backing up your SD card and reformatting that as well, and if none of that works. i think its time to try a new rom
I have this issue!!!! The EXACT same thing happened to me! I can't resolve it .. if i turn it on like normal, it flashes orange and vibrates 3 times. If i hold vol + down and turn it on, solid green and vibrates 5 times/ black screen. Help!

I tried that and it did not work. I tried both the sim and sd card. I still need help. This is the only post on the internet I found that reproduced the issue -- and if this EXACT issue I have is happening to someone else, there has to be a way to fix it.
If my volume+up button worked, I could boot it to recovery. I need a way to do this without the use of the volume+up.

HTC didn't charge me anything since it was a hardware failure. Your inspire will still be under warrenty since it hasn't been a year yet. Just call htc support and they will create the rma. You will just have to pay shipping to them. It took about 10 days round trip.

Did you try and reboot into recovery or bootloader with it?

Hi, I'm new here so don't know if i'm posting this in the right place but here it goes... Ok i gave my HTC Inspire to a friend to install the MIUI ROM to it. Afterwards it was running smoothly and had no problems with it. A few days later my Inspire notified me that it had an update to the ROM. At first i wasn't sure to install it because it is a custom ROM and not the default one, but did the update anyways through the phone. Again, the phone worked normal all day, but at some point the screen started glitching untill it turned completly off.
The one strange thing is that the phone seems to function normally because when charged and "turned on" i can hear the sounds and notifications(like email, text and app notifiactions). Also when i connect it to my computer, it recognizes the device.
That happened about three days ago and I have not been able to discover what really is the problem and how to fix it. If there's anyone that could help me i would REALLY appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
Marialo
most likely was a bad update.
You should boot into recovery and reinstall miui everything should be back.
Keep in mind the devs have to set miui for each device, chances are you updated to the wrong base.
That's what i thought but can't boot into recovery because i can't see the screen... Any advice on that?
Btw, thks for the quick response
Try shutting off the phone completely and booting into your bootloader the old fashioned way by holding down the volume down key, press power, and release volume down once you see the bootloader screen.
If your screen doesn't work during that, you may have a hardware problem on your hands.
Ok thanks; will try that then.

If its rooted warranty won't cover this. Get the ruu (stock exe) from the HTC support site and run it. If the phone still has a black screen after its been returned to stock then the problem is hardware related

Go to settings - language and input, then click on the settings icon next to the android keyboard option. Check/tick 'vibrate on key press'.
Now type on keyboard, it should vibrate as you type.
The first suggestion you received will make phone vibrate when any soft key is pressed.
So yes , is that easy.

You ask for help. And we give it to you. Why would you then criticize the correct information you received? It just makes us not want to help. If your phone doesn't vibrate, it is a hardware issue and talk to Motorola or whoever you got you phone from for a replacement.

Well, that's odd. My Moto G doesn't vibrate anymore since yesterday too. It also crashed yesterday with 50% battery (which happened in the past too, but just when I disabled USB debugging while the phone is plugged-in via cable).
Eventually some silent update which broke something?
+1 no more vibration, reeboot still not

Same here, after I updated from 5.0.1 to 5.1, no more vibrations, even tested with a test vibrate app, still nothing

That's what I did and -although mine was replaced by a refurb unit- i never had trouble again and all is working great since 1+yr after I replaced it
Out of nowhere my power button magically no longer works. Kind of a huge deal since I use my phone for work a TON. You can get an app called button savior from Google play that allows you to create on screen keys to turn off your screen.
Various xposed modules allow you to remap your physical keys. If you don't know about the xposed framework I highly suggest looking into it.
Furthermore I believe some custom roms have key mapping built in.

My power button just started malfunctioning too. I'm on Odin barebones 4.1.2 stock and the problem persists.
It sounds like a lot of people are getting this problem. If you use that knowledge to your advantage, I've heard people convince Samsung it's a manufacturing problem and got it repaired outside of Warranty. The power button itself is sautered onto the motherboard, so unless you really trust a mobile repair company, best option is work directly with Samsung.
That being said, I'm going to look for an Xposed Framework module that can remap the power button.

Wow. My power button just stopped working also.
My phone is stock.
I did replace the glass myself a couple months ago and it's been working fine until about a week ago. Was wondering if that had anything to do with it.
Interesting to see I'm not the only one having issues.
Kind of timely now that the S5 is coming out this week.

This is happening to a lot of people. I'm sure the s4 will start having this problem followed by the s5 after a year and some months. Im done with samsung phones until they start using different parts. Actually thinking about the next nexus phone and hack a msata drive into it with a custom vacume formed case. The only reason I haven't owned one is because of the storage limitation. I think a 200+ gigabyte msata strapped to the back would fix that problem.

Hey guys, mine originally starting messing up on Saturday, and then Sat night and all day Sun is was fine, and now it is doing it again. I even installed a new rom and it is still doing it so now I am convinced it is purely physical and not rom-related. What are you guys going to do?
I have the Wireless Phone Protection for my phone and am thinking about using that to my advantage to get a new device....question is I've never done it before. If I say I have a physical problem with my phone then won't Verizon want it returned? That will make me have to unroot it and bring it back to out of box state which is a big headache. What if I just say I lost it or it got stolen? Am I better off going that route?
EDIT: Also forgot to mention that along with these power button issues my S3 also will not reboot on its own. If I select Reboot (be it from the power button menu, notification pulldown, etc) it will just shut off and not reboot.....but if I yank the battery and put it back in it will then reboot to recovery. Same deal if I do a normal reboot, haven to yank and replace battery. You guys having these issues too?
So a couple of days ago my power button started acting wonkie as well. I would push it and it basically acted sticky. I would push once but it would register twice or as a long press. Either turning the screen on and off or bring up the reboot menu. So I did the xposed button remapping. Worked pretty well, but if I restarted the phone it would do a weird haptic feedback thing every couple of seconds before finally booting up.
So I wasn't satisfied with just living with it being a hardware issue. So I downloaded latest cleanrom to flash from cm11. I rebooted recovery and now it just vibrates every couple of seconds. Would not make it to twrp. It will get to cm Samsung boot screen but then just goes back to vibrating black screen. I took out battery and popped out power button but same results.
Any suggestions? Think power button can be fixed by repair shop or is it time to go back to my trusty droid incredible until I can upgrade.
