Hello guys who own the Mio A701,
I'm really interested looking at this Mio A701. Look pretty neat.
Have so questions:
1. Does the built in GPS works with the Pharos Ostia software?
I know its not the best, but it the only one I have right now.
2. It seems the Mio A701 does not have hardware buttons for the WM5 softkey? I noticed two silver things in between the 4 buttons, I thought they are softkey, but nowhere in the documentation mention about them.
Also, can the 2 last buttons (Media Player and GPS software) button be remapped into something else, like Start and OK?
Thanks!
Keys can be remapped to everything, but it stupidly doesn't have the soft key keys, despite bags of space for it. Thus, you're effectively limited to 2 hardware keys. The silver slivers are nothing.
However, using remappers you can remap volume keys, camera key and 2 hardware, and maybe red and green key.
Please note, again ridiculously there's no power key, so it doubles up with the red key. It's essential to use VJDeviceLock or matt's app.
Never tried Pharos, but it should work with any GPS software, it's a standard SIRF III device.
You might want to read my slightly surreal summary here regarding necrophilia:

Hi folks,
I'm gone crazy to resize my buttons elements for different screens...
if I change screen size my background automatically stratches and it adjusts for different screen but not buttons...
img.tapatalk.com/1f1b0ddb-3497-37ec.jpg
notice that one button covered the eye of the robot....
if I change screen size..
img.tapatalk.com/1f1b0ddb-353c-9723.jpg
notice that the button not cover anymore... my problem is that it change position and it's not resized proportionally...
I've tired with wrap_content, fill parent, pixel , dp.....

When I power it up it shows me a lock screen (Call it A) which slides to open. Then it shows a screen (Call it B) that has shortcuts to phone, hangouts, and just go to desktop.
I can change the first screen, A.
How the devil do I change the second one? It shows a dock against water and is basically orange / yellow colors.
i dont understand can you attach some pics?

So I'm on rooted stock CM 11S (would like to stay on 11S cause it's running so great and smooth). I don't use the capacitive keys nor the on screen nav bar, I use LMT launcher (which is indispensable, IMO , with this big beautiful phone). One problem, when typing on the keyboard (I use SwiftKey) I often inadvertently hit the capacitive home button when pressing the space bar. Now I know you can disable the capacitive keys on some custom roms, but is there a way to do it on 11S? Maybe with Tasker, but I couldn't see a way to do it. Maybe with Xposed, but I'm using ART (and loving it). Any ideas? Thanks!
I don't have the phone yet, but yes you can. In fact, it is, kinda, one of the selling points: choice.

Yeah, you can choose between on-screen nav bar or capacitive ones but I am not using either one (again, I'm using LMT launcher). So, the capacitive keys are enabled (specifically the home key as you can actually disable the back and menu key in settings by assigning their short press action to "none") and, again, when I type I often accidentally hit the home key and it takes me out of what I'm doing.

Disable Capacitive buttons, then disable software buttons with other tools (there is one, but can't remember the name now though) ,???, profit.

Yeah, I thought of that but I'm using ART runtime.
You can use expanded desktop leaving the status bar visible. The soft keys will show if you drag from the bottom of the screen though.

How do you leave the status bar visible with expanded desktop? Don't think you can with stock CM11S. Plus, when you bring up the keyboard the hidden nav nar automatically comes up with expanded desktop.

Yep that's true. It's under the display and lights menu and shows as expanded desktop style. Oh you can turn off backlights and edit the keylayout file.

Why not go back to Dalvik, ART is not final yet and it almost doesn't make any difference. I tried both but didn't see any advantages of ART just disadvantages of not be able to do some customizations, like you want to do now.
Using Root Explorer (or CM file manager w/root), navigate to System > usr > keylayout, and open Generic.kl and put "#" before those lines
key 139 MENU VIRTUAL
key 102 HOME VIRTUAL
key 158 BACK VIRTUAL
key 217 SEARCH VIRTUAL

I personally found more effective to use the gesture on the fingerprint sensor and I have hidden the on screen buttons.
